Howard Johnson by Wyndham Downtown Reno

They are remodeling so it was challenging to find the office and elevator. Was given a wrong internet code but staff resolved the issue with a new code. Lots of side show noise for all the hotels, the cops need to crack down on that.

Even though the manager helped take the luggage to room, the staff was not diligent. phone line and clock unit "had no life" reported... but was not fixed in two days of stay. Grab and go break fast 6- 9 was a JOKE. Juice fountain was dry at 8:15... no replenishment. Same thing for muffins.. nothing to "grab and go' at 8:15 both days. Asked if more can be provided since its not the end of Grab and GO, a FLAT no. we felt cheated. you should disclose in your SALES website... Grab and till the supply lasts....to be fair. Understand it is low budget place....but no excuse for lack of maintenance of property and non disclosure. One elevator "out" only one by the lobby had permanent heavily dirty streak marks. Only one ice machine for 200 units in the building. Bed sheets were clean for sure!

The linens were clean and fresh, almost like they were new. The room was cleaned and linens changed after the third day. Breakfast was very slight, juice, coffee, packaged roll. There are obvious good attempts to remodel the property. Elevator did not function at the time of our stay. There was good lighting adding to security needed in that area of town.

The property is in a great Area, but parking is horrible! And There were some loud neighbors but staff talked to Them and got Them to quite down!

Nice room. Parking was not the best. Only ice machine was in the office. Staff was amazing. Location is ideal.

Do not access if you have any handicap rooms are not suitable and elevator does not operate properly overall bad experience

Weird place. Nothing bad tough. Cramped room. Tight parking. Wrapped muffins in the lobby in the mornings. The street was noisy at all hours. Astroturf on the balconies-ugly...

The place was filthy. The room was clean except sink was dirty and there were cans of beer unopened left on counter.

First room was cigarette smelling with doz3ns of cockroaches!! Moved to second room and still had a few. Room walls were dirty. The whole place needs a deep cleaning!!

Stunk BAD like cigarettes. Dirt, hair, dust, blood, unknown brown stuff on floors, walls, doors. Bugs everywhere. Huge gap under the door. Men standing outside rooms drinking beer and people watching at all hours. Car alarms often. Only about 10 TV channels worked. The "breakfast" was granola bars, a few other packaged goods, and the worst mud (coffee) I've ever tasted. The front desk woman was nice.

Clean bed and sheets, clean towels. No instructions on how to use the tv remote, I had yo call the front desk. I killed 2 Cockroaches in my room.

Nasty smells, terrible property, cockroaches in the room. The staff was nice as could be but when i pulled up, I was in shock by how nasty and ran down the place was. Paint coming off the building and just gross. The Howard Johnson side of the building is pretty much boarded up and you have to go to the Travelodge side. The check in area has an awful smell and immediately made me wonder what the rooms were like. The guy at the counter could tell i was displeased but he was very nice. We ended up getting our room as he said id be charged the full amount if i didn't stay. Went to the room long enough to endure the awful smell of the room, check for bed bugs, which i couldnt really due to a cover they put on all the mattresses... Also, the white bedding was all stained with god knows what... but we left our things and then went exploring town. When my children and i got back to go to bed, we found 2 cockroaches. One was under their suite case and the other on the counter at the microwave. It was absolutely disgusting. The front desk guy was very nice. He told me they were booked and could give me a full refund once the manager got in in the morning but didnt have any other options. Luckily, i was able to book another hotel at 11pm at night so we could get somewhere to sleep. Terrible experience for my self and my poor children.

To begin with, the main door did not close properly, there was hair everywhere, in the bathroom, on the sink, on the floors and on the bed, it seemed that it had never been vacuumed and the worst of all was when I moved the sheets there were dead bedbugs and black dots on the sheets that indicated that there could be more, we could not sleep there, I had to leave with my family immediately from that place.

Didn’t stay very long, the room was run down and had roaches in bathroom - so gross. Will never stay here again, so disappointed.

People partying on the balcony smoking, drinking, and yelling until 2am . Woke up so many times I just left at 4:30 am. Low life patrons. Downtown Reno. Never again!

The room was fine though a chair would have been lovely so I didn't have to sit on bed. The noise outsside from motorcycles was awful.....

Super noisy all night. Seems like it got quiet in the morning but all night, you can hear the street or cars in the casino garage across the street.

Room was old and outdated. Very small for two queen beds barely enough room to walk. Seen two cockroaches so was worried about them getting in our things. Got no sleep due to all the outside noise. People hollering, motorcycles driving up and down all night, cars squeeling tires and playing loud music. Finally gave up on getting any sleep and left at 4 am after checking in at 10 pm. Would never stay there again or recommend it.

Door and window has cracks, you can’t go to sleep unless the whole city is asleep…

Obviously a budget motel. Parking easy and free. Decent padding on mattress, and sheets were clean. Towels plentiful. Quite an old property, no surprise. This is a double property operating as Howard Johnson and Travelidge, all one building, one office (other closed). The windows are very thin, so noisy. Non-smoking room still smelled of smoke, like from other rooms or something—there but not all in the room. The breakfast was little bites muffins, granola bars, hostess mini danishes, just store bought, but it’s something to go. Felt fine for the price. Bring earplugs if traffic noise is a problem. Friendly staff, and seemed helpful.

Sticky floor, gap in door and door frame allowing light and sound. I shoved a towel between in the gap. The door did not feel secure, leaving little sense of security. The drag racing loud cars and bikes make it impossible for a solid nights rest. I will not recommend.

Everything was fine just the Wi-Fi was working just for one person of a room member.

Being in downtown was loud at night. Someone’s loofah was still in the shower when I got there. An old key was sitting in our room too. Water stopped one morning, but came back in about 45 minutes. AC unit worked great, but supplied breakfast was limited to NutraGrain bars.

Poor security broken doors, was refused a receipt! We checked in on July 16th at 4pm and spent the next 2-3 hours asking hotels.com for help getting a refund and new accommodations, we checked out at 8pm on the same day and was refused a receipt at check out. Come to find out the lady never checked us out, luckily I called the morning of the 17th to make sure we were checked out!

Office staff was not available for check out at 6:15 am. Office locked.

No one really cared about anything. My son lost his key and was able to get a new key to our room without even having his ID. The room had food still in the microwave from one of the last guests(or the employees?) The good news, it's cheap.

Check in and check out process was a nightmare! Plenty of other properties in the vicinity.

The employee that was working the night I checked in was so rude and unprofessional. There was no greeting he barely spoke to me and when he did he was mumbling and I couldn’t understand him. He was not helpful regarding parking either. The hotel is in a terrible area and I felt super unsafe leaving my car far away so I ended up just leaving. And they won’t give me a refund.

Not expecting too much from property but staff was terrible Lazy and slow

The front desk employees were very hospitable and friendly. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The only thing wrong was with the TV volume it was on low and you couldn't turn it up. I would recommend this hotel to others.

We stayed here because we needed a non-frills, affordable hotel. We will not be back. The service at the desk was ok. The two times we had to go to the desk, there was one person at the desk, a line of guests, and the phones ringing off the hook. The gal working the desk was doing the best she could to keep her head above water. I have nothing bad to sat about her, but 2 people maybe helpful. Our first room smelled like pot. The kind lady at the desk moved us to a different room. Our biggest complaints were the location (we were not familiar with Reno) and the noise. We already did not feel very safe, but night 1 we woke up to noisy cars, sounded like they were racing, and then a baby crying... the least sound-proof hotel room I have ever stayed in. Night 2, we literally woke up to the sound of gunshots. Will not be back.

The area was a little sketchy but it was a quiet, clean hotel room. Close to the casinos. Free parking.

The property is in a great location Pros: Walking distance to Circus Circus, Silver Legacy and Eldorado Easy Parking Clean Rooms Rooms were clean Near the University of Reno Cons: Staff was nice but gave me the wrong room at first Walls were thin. Could hear next door neighbors Construction was going on early in the morning

A clean quite hotel. Staff was helpful. The location is near the all the major downtown Reno casinos, entertainment venues, and public transportation. The hotel was a good bargain for a downtown Reno Hotel. I visited Reno for the Ragecon tabletop game convention probably would not have been able to go if not for finding a good inexpensive hotel like this one. I'll be returning next year to this hotel.

Why advertise fake breakfast and charge $30 more? There was nothing thats considered an america breakfast other than coffee machine, juice and dollar store muffins

My friend and I had a bad experience with staying at the hotel. There was constant noise throughout the two nights. In the mornings, there was constant screaming at 5 am from the guests to the employees of Howard Johnson. On hotels.com it showed that there was complimentary breakfast, which was a lie. They only served nutri grain bars or a couple of muffins, the apple juice and the orange juice in the machine were watered down to the point it was almost water. The Howard Johnson main office and the area where the complimentary breakfast was at was being remodeled and the staff did not notify the guests ahead of time. I was told by the staff, when i checked in, that it was a smoke-free hotel. Yet there were people smoking weed and hot-boxing in room 211.

Property was located in the area I wanted to be in, but noise from traffic and other tenants took getting used to. The breakfast set out in the morning had a poor selection. Not even fresh pastries or juices.

On website, it says Free breakfast, but actually it is not breakfast , it is snack. One muffin and one granula bar plus coffee.

I liked the staff when checking in, he was very nice and polite. I don't like that there was no breakfast not even a pastry. The whole building outside need renovation or at least to be cleaned, new carpets, and update TV and cable.

Pro The beds was comfort and air-conditioning was cold. A huge plus for the hot weather. Con They advertised breakfast was woefully overstated. They had watered down apple juice, and granola bars. We were expecting a hot breakfast. Regarding cleanliness, it looked lean but my wife told me she saw two roaches in the room.

Disappointed with breakfast

One of my criteria to select a place to stay was its offering of breakfast. It was the first time I learned about "grab and go" breakfast. It was not what we were looking for.

The pictures on the site make this place look nice and clean but the outside was very rundown dirty looking and sketchy, kinda looked abandon on one side but the room was ok. They offer free breakfast witch is one of the main reasons we chose this hotel......THEY DO NOT HAVE FREE BREAKFAST......they have free muffins. When we checked out there was a gentleman in the office that was behind the counter talking with another person behind the counter who was extremely unprofessional and cussing in front of guess. We will definetly never stay here again.
