The Junction Hotel and Hostel

No frills accommodations, clean but room was a bit run down. Ice machine in our building broken sitting our 4 day stay. Air con had difficulty keeping up. Loved the location on the creek and steps from the river, walkable location, popular app for bikers. They also allow pets!

Great for dog friendly stay bc of the surrounding grassy area, stream flowing, and walkable park.

Pet friendly.

Sadi/Front Desk Staff & Pena/Jose’ from housekeeping = very accommodating, patient, kind! I like that kitchen facility/community room is available at all hours, reasonably separated from main, sleeping quarters & - - hence - - noise from use of same isn’t disruptive. Although I didn’t swim, several guest mentioned enjoying the pool. ‘The Junction’ is an affordable stay in a lovely location w/friendly staff!

We had an amazing stay with the Junction Hotel, the kids loved the pool, it was very close to downtown and near the Recreation center which the kids also loved. The staff was great as well as the property being very well kept.

The staff was great my room was very nice and clean but my goodness the laundry room is disgusting I cleaned washer and dryer before I threw my clothes in and almost got my vacuum out to vacuum but was not my job I will not rent there again cause of that

The photos of the property look better than the actual facility. The hotel is painted a rather drab blue-grey color with orange accents. The check-in office smelled of gas once and burned food another time. The common room stove was filthy. The sink was filled with dirty dishes. The counter had crumbs and the rug and furniture needed cleaning and or replacing. The room needed a facelift as there were areas of doors, walls and the painted headboard area that lacked proper paint. The floors needed disinfecting. There was some sort of food on the floor perhaps for a dog? There were small bugs by the end table. The sheets and pillowcases had spots and were wrinkled. The refrigerator was not clean and the top of the microwave needed cleaning. There was no suitcase rack for our luggage. You could hear guests through wall areas. There were spills on the walkways and the concrete needed power washing. The flower beds were not well cared for. There was trash, weeds and cigarette butts on the grounds. The pool was not operational. The price was better than most hotels in Durango. The hotel-hostel was in an excellent location to download Durango and nature areas. The weeds really needed pulling. I would not recommend toxic poisons to kill the weeds as they can make guest with sensitivities very ill. The photos are misleading. If you just need a quick spot to lay your head for a night or two that’s not super expensive, buyer beware… this is a bare-bones basic hotel. Uniforms?

Helpful late check in options and updated rooms that were pretty clean, but there were lots of cigarette and dog smells in hallways and thin walls (dogs barked next door for a while).The pool was located right at the small corner of the property at a busy and loud intersection so that was not very inviting, think visitors should know that detail if they see pictures of the pool where that’s not shown. Over all, good for a quick stay over but probably would try another place next time.

Pictures online are misleading. Community kitchen is a total disaster. Appliances in the room are outdated but functional. Experience is overall what you would expect from an "updated" motel.

I slept in the back packers shared room. Unfortunately I work up covered in bites (bed bugs) over my entire body including my head. I informed staff on existing the Hotel /Hostel who was most apologetic. Hopefully they will do a deep clean

The place had bed bugs

It's a cheap place but the bathroom was dirty. In fact it wasn't cleaned. The property needs some serious work. The worst was i had to payca cash deposit because you couldnt use the card you paid for the room with.

Walls, vents, crawl space access dirty. Needs remodel.

The floor was dirty. The towels were stained. The ice machine was broken. The tv remote didn’t work. The one bright spot was Faith. She went above and beyond to help me.

Filthy room, mopped the floor so my wife could walk to the bathroom, caulking mess and tools left on bathroom counter, barking dog in next room, no staff at front desk to address the problems. Staff in AM apologized and blamed a computer glitch, but didn’t do anything else to win my business again. Not serious about keeping customers. Overpriced for what it is. First and last stay. Moved to another hotel.

The room is located in a great spot. The price and location is why we chose to stay. When we go there the room felt muggy and we noticed quite a bit of stains in the towels and bed. We had the maintenance man lend us a heater because the room one didn’t work. There is no coffee machine in the room. We still stayed for two nights.

Dirty: food crumbs and bugs in both rooms we were given. We ended up finding a new hotel and did not stay

First…the staff was very friendly so this review does not reflect on them. This was a very cheap room so I didn’t expect perfection, but… The bathroom door was insanely scratched up…it looked like someone got stuck in there and had to claw their way out. There were blood spots on the bedspread of one bed so we didn’t use that one. There was hair on the bathroom floor. And the room had bleach fumes so bad that my eyes burned. You can also hear the toilets running in adjacent rooms.

The hotel room for our family of 4 was just the right size and clean. It had television with good channels and mirrors outside of bathroom so i could do makeup when someone else was in the bathroom. It was a great shower! Great location with the river trail behind the hotel and a nearby stop for the free trolley. We used the trolley a lot since there were not any rental cars available in town. My only complaint was the mattress was not very good. Otherwise, it was quiet at night and great coffee each morning in the lobby. We would definitely come back to stay here.

Pleasant staff. Reasonably clean but a bit tired. Refrigerator was so loud I unplugged it and the smoke detector had a bright blinking light that made it difficult to sleep.

The walls and ceiling are paper thin. We could hear everything all the time. It sounded like the people upstairs were running with high heels on. Outside we could hear everyone talking when they would get there. We could hear other people’s alarms going off at all hours. Not relaxing at all, it was however clean. The maids were excellent. The check in process was easy and the lady up front was really polite and friendly. This is really just a problem of poorly built rooms.

The bathroom needed attention. The shower surrond was cracked and the caulk had mildew on it. The sink needed to be replaced as it had severa cracks. Noise was the people above us sounded like they were moving furniture and had children running around constantly and the adults were stopig around. Even at 10 PM making it difficult to get to sleep. I got up at 6:30 and the children were already up and running again.

The room and bed were about what you would expect for a Hostel that shares a room with other people. It was a hot day and AC didn’t work so had to leave window open and that was next to a busy highway. Of not for the heat, would have been fine.

This property is good for the younger crowd but if you are over 30 or prefer a quiet room I would recommend spending a few extra dollars and staying somewhere nicer. You can hear every movement from the other rooms. The guests in the room above mine sounded like they were playing football the first part of the evening. The property definitely needed sprucing up.

The noise of slamming doors was very loud. It did quite down at later. But if you wanted to sleep before 9 it wasn't really possible.

Not a nice place, there is too much noise coming from other rooms, if someone takes a shower in one room close to yours you can feel it as if you are inside the shower, so noisy, you can hear conversations, steps, etc.

Good convenient location and good price. Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. Bed was comfortable enough and room was basic but fine. Smoke detector had a green light that flashed periodically, which lit up the room like a strobe light after dark - very hard to sleep, but better / tolerable after covering it with several layers of duct tape!

I think everything was very comfortable and the walls are a little thin, but it didn’t disturb us as far as sleeping for the price you cannot go wrong

Does not match description or photos. Got locked out of my room and it took 2.5 hours to get in.

We checked in, were put on the 2nd floor, stairs were very icy, the next morning my friend slipped on the ice and fell hard. I went to the office to tell them and found out we were put in the wrong room, we were supposed to be on the first floor. The room we were in had a checkout of that morning. I said NO, we were checking out on Sunday. She said she fixed it but when we got back to the room that evening, we were locked out and they have no one in the office. I called the number, she sent maintenance to open our room, we hadn't had dinner yet and decided instead of having to go through that again, we just door dashed (and the selection was not great) Will not stay there again.

Office closed at 11pm.. i arrives at 1130pm. I tried calling, voice mail said they closecat 1130pm. Posted on the door was a faded paper statingbthat after hours check in was done with a code to a small lock box that contained the card key. The box was very hard to unlock. The room was basic. Beds were kind of hard. The frig was turned off, i didnt realized until the next day. The microwave had a burn mard on the door glass, i didnt use it. Bathroom sink counter was bearly attached to the wall. Only one lock on the entry door. Needs major updating on the rooms.

Very inexpensive, clean, accommodating and wonderful friendly staff. I stay here twice a year minimum. It’s great.

Do not recommend this hotel. They never came and cleaned the room or changed out the towels during our 3 day hotel. We were taking a nap and a maintenance man walked into the room did not knock first.

Terrible customer service. We had an appt, had driven hundreds of miles and just wanted our room. Desk person was on a personal call- when he finally spoke to me he informed me I couldn’t check in until 3 pm ( it was 2:40 pm)!! I explained our appt his response was it wasn’t his problem. By 3:15 he still wouldn’t give us our room, it was actually 3:30 before he allowed us to have a key!! Our appt was 4, barely time to put luggage down and make the appt! Breakfast left something to be desired as well- one man came in and left saying “NO Thank You”! I won’t be back!! Old building needs repairs!!!

Our first room had a faulty air conditioner, and as soon as we notified the staff, they gave us another room with no hesitation and no cost. Very nice.

Property was solid overall. Accidentally locked myself out of my room after the front desk closed and staff was rude when they had to help me get back in even though I was very apologetic about the mistake.

Friendly, helpful, resourceful, welcoming. One of the team members was in training. It was his very first day. You would have never known. So that was a good hire because he was so personable.

Nice nearby cotycenter for an affordable price.

The Junction provided a safe, clean place for our needs. Nice surprise to see how close it was to a beautiful walking path near the river. We enjoyed getting into downtown Durango along this path.

Friendly staff. Good value. Unique property in area with hostel backroom option.. Although property is about a mile from downtown area there is a free city trolley bus that has stops very near the property that arrive and depart every 20 minutes which makes getting around town easy for those like me who didn't have a car available.

The hotel overall had a n appealing color palette. It was pleasing to the eye. The room itself was painted nicely, but the bathroom door and trim had chipping and peeling. The air conditioner worked but was definitely older and needed updated. There was a beautiful area in the back of the property. There was a small creek running through there. There were picnic tables and chairs for relaxing. It smelled wonderful though. Overall the experience was good.

Good location with easy access to all main areas & visiting locations.

Love the location and value. They have a problem with peoplelittering and more on the property. Does not nessarily feel safe.

Economical place to stay in Durango. Close to downtown.

Room was fine. No in room coffee or hairdryer but are available in the lobby.

The paper thin walls and sounds from the next room. No breakfast was included and parking was limited and the parking lot was dark. Location was the only plus about this property. Staff was not friendly but served their purpose to check in and check out. Housekeeping were friendly and said Hello.

Knowing what I had paid, I had reasonable expectations and they were met. Coffee is absolutely horrible. Bring a blanket as you essentially have two sheets to cover with—the bed cover is basically a sheet. There is a refrigerator in the lobby building and that’s the only source for ice. Be prepared to get ice elsewhere. It is what I expected.

Bed was so-so, not great, very old mattress. Pillows were awful, made me glad I travel with some from home. Gnats in the room the first night all over the two main lights, not so bad the second night. Coffee in the office only is for the birds.. didn’t like that I can’t make coffee in the room. The pool was cool but clean and usable.

I liked the walking trails in the area. The room wasn’t very clean and no continental breakfast.

Front desk staff was helpful and kind. The room was comfortable. No coffee or tea available in the room. It was easy to hear upstairs neighbor - was woken at 6:15 from their shuffling around.

Location was beautiful. Had a variety of places to eat close by. Downside is the room was not cleaned in hard to reach areas (ie. behind shelf and chair), bed frame was not good felt like it was going to break, and room had no remote.
