Anchor Inn and Cottages Wells-Ogunquit

This is our Maine go-to motel. Reasonably priced, conveniently located to beaches, dining, shops. And dogs allowed, even though we were dog less this time, we still stayed here! The rooms are clean and quiet, and it has a warm sparkling clean pool. Basically everything you need, and nothing you don’t.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful and knew you by name. The pool was beautiful and clean. It’s in a middle location so quick to get to Wells beaches and Ogunquit. Will definitely come back.

We had an issue with our reservation at another property. I found rooms available at the Anchor and went without knowing what we would find. We were very happy with our stay and would stay again and the save money from more expensive options we typically book. Our rooms were clean, the pool was quiet and refreshing. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The only improvement they could make is the WiFi connection.

The cost was very affordable. It had picnic tables rt infront of the rooms , grills available, chairs infront of each room and the pool looked nice There was also a mini ffridge and microwaves in each room. The rooms and grounds are very neat and clean. The wound definitely stay there again.

Clean pet areas nice quiet

Nous avons passé un très beau séjour. Le personnel est accueillant, la chambre est propre et confortable, le terrain ombragé et bien entretenu. Le bbq et les tables a pique nique permettent de se préparer de bons repas. L internet par contre n est pas fiable. Je n ai pas été capable non plus d ouvrir les fenêtres pour chasser l odeur d humidité et aérer la chambre. Malgré ceci, je reviendrais car l établissement est bien tenu.

Very nice place. Decent prices too! Located on the main coming in from Ogunquit (about a 6 min drive into Ogunquit) Very clean and relatively modern rooms. Air conditioner (worked great) Keurig with a few pods and hotel sugar/creamer, microwave, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, hotel shampoo etc. Plenty of towels. We stayed in the motel (2nd floor) Each room has 2 chairs on the balcony. The pool has lounger chairs, tables with umbrellas and outdoor couches. Pool was immaculate as were the grounds. Pretty quiet place with the exception of the motel rooms near the road, but with the AC or fan on we weren't bothered. VERY pleasant and helpful staff. A nice welcoming energy upon arrival and all thru the stay. Wells Beach is a short 5 min drive. Also super close to grocery stores, CVS, lots of local restaurants. Theres a movie theater 4 min away for rainy days. Shopping too as well as multiple mini golfs and ice cream shops. Easy access to other towns in Maine. We would definitely stay here again!

Wow! Usually don’t really like motels but this one was very nice! The folks who worked here were easy to find and talk to. The pool was so clean, the room was so clean and the grounds were very well taken care.

Very clean rooms!

So very disappointed by our room at this property. We were assigned a dog friendly room, #113. The shower / tub did not drain, the toiletries were used. All but one bottle. There was just a tiny amount of the body wash left in the tiny bottle and no replacements. The worst was the black mold growing all along the bottom of the fabric shower curtain because of the tub not draining when showering. I chose this hotel because it was well reviewed and I'm not one to leave many reviews. It was just gross and I feel like potential visitors should know.

Very nice staff and room was very clean. Location was nice as well. The reason for the lower review is because the room smelled very musty (probably a 7 on a scale of 1-10), and because the shower was not nice at all. Low water pressure, very slow drain. Decent place to crash, but not a good place to stay for days in my opinion. Next time we go, we will likely pay more for better accommodations.

We stayed here for one night. It was dirty, spiders in all the corners, the blinds were broken, couch had stains, and the curtains had an unknown sticky substance on them. The outside smelled bad near the AC units. Also, the cottage had no rugs, too much furniture in the one room and one painting (or print) on the wall. It was just a terrible place to stay for 300 dollars. Do yourself a favor, don’t stay here.

The room had a horrible smell, musty or moldy. The website showed a very different set up and was a little misleading. Maybe they are renovating but that one was bad. Area was nice outside the hotel. Just needed a bed and shower. For that, it worked

Easy check-in,dog friendly,prime location. Room was obviously moist (damp,smell) when we walked in.This is a road side beach motel so this was not a huge surprise. However after discovering a (large) humidifier in the room, and stepping in a PUDDLE on the carpet, it became clear this was a serious moisture issue. After walking the dog, I discovered the plumbing of the buildings is completely exposed behind the units, and there were numerous pipes leaking and squirting water. I found a damaged manhole with water literally bubbling explosively out of the ground near by. Clearly the buildings basements (at least) were all flooded. The humidifier in the room filled 3 times in the 13 hours we were in the room- I can only imagine how many mold spores me and my family may have breathed in. The bathroom had been “renovated” but was clearly a hack-job from water damage (see photos). I can’t even believe this building’s is up to code with the town of Wells….my expectations for this location were not high; But a sopping wet carpet and the plumbing I observed outside (and inside) these units was frightening. It has rained constantly this summer so I’m sure that has been no doubt challenging. We cancelled the rest of our week stay however and will have to stay elsewhere $$$. Front desk (extremely Friendly woman) informed me that all first floor Rooms had humidifiers, obviously this property flooded. I would never say here again unless renovated. Unsafe and unhealthy!

Property was clean and convenient to many activities in Wells, as well as the beach. We did not use the trolley, but the hotel is located on the trolley line. The room was basic, but sufficient. The AC and fridge were very loud though making it difficult to get a good nights sleep! The front desk clerk also notified us upon arrival that all rooms were pet friendly, so be aware if you have allergies!

Hotel was nice, bathroom was a little small but fine for us.

This was your average motel. Anchor Inn is a two floor property with an outdoor staircase to the upper floor. Parking right outside the windows on the lower floors make it somewhat noisy, with car doors closing etc. The walls connecting each room seemed thin so your neighbors activity can be an issue!

Room was spacious and well laid out. Very clean!!

The lg two bedroom cottage was spacious and clean. They had everything you would need for a long stay. Will definately go back.

The wifi doesn't work

This was my second visit to the Anchor. It’s a short drive to the beach, the beds are comfortable, and the pool kept the kids entertained. Unfortunately, parking was a challenge for our two rooms even though we only had one car, the Wi-Fi was poor, the TV didn’t work in one room, and the sink didn’t drain in that same room. Our second room didn’t have these issues—it was clean, with comfortable beds—but overall, the problems were enough that I wouldn’t stay here again.

We stayed for 1 night. The room was clean and we enjoyed the pool. Not sure if it was because we booked through Expedia but we were given the room closest to Route 1 and it was extremely loud all night.

Room was clean overall, but lots of things were left to be desired. Flickering light in the fridge, baseboard trim missing in the bathroom, a landlord style caulk job in the tub that only went 1/3 of the way around, an alarm clock (i’m assuming from the previous occupants) went off at 6 AM in the other room on our first night, and the WIFI was unusable. No hardware reset would solve that, it’s simply too far from the source. The pet fee was egregious on top of the cost, given the state of our room/stay. I will say the outside is good looking from the front and the parking is plentiful. It is a cozy little place, that’s for sure.

We booked a small 2 bedroom cottage and when we arrived, it was under 60 degrees with the A/C blasting even though it was 30 degrees outside that night. There is only one heat source for the whole building and it took hours to warm up enough that we could sleep. There were no top sheets on the twin beds - only one thin, worn out, scratchy blanket - and by the time we realized that, the front desk was closed (10:30pm) so we couldn’t even request additional bedding. Went to shower in the morning and there was no hot water, tried to call the front desk but the phone in the room wasn’t even connected so we had to get dressed and walk across the property to tell them. By the time they got it fixed, we were checking out. Otherwise the room and furnishings were about what we expected based on reviews and price point, definitely not fancy but it’s a place to stay and was nice the kids each had their own bed.

Great value motel that is exceptionally well run. Front desk staff is friendly, professional and efficient. Room was very clean and everything worked great. Love that all flooring is solid surface, no carpet!

Staff went above and beyond in assisting with a difficult booking issue. Shandar was able to clear up a reservation with Agoda that had left me helpless due to their unresponsive customer service. Many thanks!

The desk staff was awful, she was unfriendly and lazy. We stayed 3 days only because we couldn't cancel without losing our money. No one cleaned the room, had to ask for towels and we finally had to stop one of the cleaning staff and ask for our room to be cleaned. I would never stay or recommend this hotel

We have 2 service dogs, we were questioned on what service they provide and for what and they charged me for the older one. Very unprofessional and inconsiderate

Very clean and staff super welcoming

Our room had multiple yellow jackets in it. My friend that I was traveling with got stung. I am highly allergic. I was not happy that they were no recommendations made by the hotel to accommodate us to another room. Then our toilet broke twice and the night manager, Sandir apparently did not value the opinion of a woman, and spoke very aggressively towards us, and told us if we didn’t like it, we could leave. I would never recommend this hotel to anybody.

I would have rated it 5 stars for everything. But the front desk lady was not very friendly. And even after asking no one would clean my room. Other than that it is worth the price clean comfortable and a great place to stay.

Let me start by saying we checked in at 3:10 and check out at 3:20. The office clerk who checked us is was not friendly,not even a smile. The office also was not clean by any means so the set the stage for what we might be walking into. From the outside it doesn’t look to bad but the second we opened the door to the studio cottage we rented there was an awful smell. The room was not inviting and outdated. It was not clean the curtains and chairs were gross. The toilet was dirty as well as dirt in corners of the room. We immediately decided not to stay. We asked kindly for a refund where we would not be staying because of the condition of the cabin, I got a rude response with no refund from them because unfortunately we used Expedia we needed to go through them for a refund. To no surprise they have reached out many times without being able to speak with the manager. Don’t waste your time booking here there are plenty of other better hotels/motels in wells.

Good location, very clean and spacious room, carpet a little old looking. The room smelled of weed and/or pets. I suggest they professionally clean the carpets and air out the rooms. Overall a comfortable stay. I’d stay there again.

The location offered close access to Ogunquit and Wells sites, including the wedding we attended at Laudholm Farm. Rooms were clean and featured refrigerators, microwave, and coffee maker

Our room was clean and the whole place was quiet despite it being a holiday weekend. The pool was closed for the season but I'd like to try it someday. There were plenty of places just a short drive (10 minutes or less) away for some great seafood! Also, there are two mini gplf places to choose from! The lighthouse boat tour from Perkins Cove is lovely, too. Close to everything!

Great location

Would highly recommend. Older place but kept up immaculately. Very clean. Very clean rooms. We stayed with another couple who agree with all mentioned. Grounds kept up with. Only stayed one night during our travel to our final destination but could tell this would be a nice place to stay for longer stay. I don't believe they offered breakfast but could be wrong. We left rather early and did not inquire. "Quaint"

Good but basic place to stay with no frills. Would have been nice to have real coffee onsite but many options close by. Price was very good and i would stay again.
