A fabulous 2night stay at Argyle House. Bill & Jo were extremely welcoming & super helpful. Beds were so comfy, so had fab sleep. Great location come out of B&B and wander down the hill & in Whitby. Huge bonus that yummy breakfast & stay includes a parking permit. So u park anywhere that suits & pop parking permit & all good.

The overall stay was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough to help make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was particularly good and set us up for each day. The only drawback was the parking which was very difficult.

Our stay at Argyle House in late September this year was good. Bill, and his son, were very friendly and helpful. The room, on the first floor, is a good size, quirkily decorated ( rather gothic), well furnished, bedding good, and clean. Bathroom quite small , with a good shower etc. Located high up on the West Cliff side a few minutes walk from the Cook Memorial and 10 minutes walk down to the harbour and town centre. There is on street parking only ( a local parking permit is provided) ; if you are lucky to find a spot nearby leave the car there and walk everywhere if you can. There is no breakfast provision although there are a couple of good nearby cafes. Restaurant eateries are a bit further away.

Parking dufficulties but not surprising considering the amoint of hotels in the area. Great location but not good for disbled or infirm people due to the amount of stairs in the property, especially to access the attic room. Room was very well equiped with all amenities plus extras, i.e., hair straighteners, umbrellas and ironing board and iron.

Great location for walking around Whitby. Owner, Bill, was most helpful and accommodating.Great value and excellent breakfast with good variety and option to ask for alternatives. Parking was not a problem with permits issued by owner. Thank you, Bill.

My sister and I stayed for 2 nights at Argyle House.The room was immaculate and i was very impressed with decor and little extra touches.Plenty of tea and coffee and toiletries,iron hairdryer and a tv with apps.Our room was at top of house with quite a few stairs to climb which didnt bother us but elderly might struggle with this.The town centre was uphill but only a short walk from train station.Overall we had a pleasant stay and would definitely recommend

The room was fine, clean and the bed comfortable. The toilet which operated on a sani flow system was very noisy and so was not good to use during the night. In addition it stopped flushing on our penultimate day. Luckily I spotted the cleaner on our way out and was able to report it and it was fixed that day. This was the only time I saw anyone attatched to the hotel. None of the suggested means of contact produced contact. We were not able to access the free netflix and on the final evening lost all tv.Finally, I accept the room was advertised as an attic room, however, it would have been good to have been made aware of the 48 steps to get to it.( my attic room has half that number) I am 78, fit and active but I certainty didn't appreciate the climb to my room after a lovely day in beautiful but very hilly Whitby.

Lovely spacious room. Truthfully I wouldn’t stay again as struggled with three flights stairs as we were at the top but would if in the lower floors. Plenty tea coffee, toiletries in bathroom, tea towel to wash cups, hairdryer to use, iron towel n one of the floors to use. Netflix on tv to use.

Lovely B&B. Bill is a lovely host. We had room 2, which is really nice with a sea view. Very nice breakfast. Easy walking distance to the beach, quayside, town centre, all the main attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in Whitby.

Our attic room was cute and comfortable and very clean, with a view of the abbey. Tea/coffee/milk were unlimited in supply; check-in was seamless and the guest house is very well located. The only problem was parking: we did find a space but it was a bit of a walk, not really a problem for us and perhaps to be expected as we arrived quite late in the day on a bank holiday weekend. We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

We left and found alternative accommodation, room was very dark , extremely gothy , which picture watching over you , black bed , black bedding , black mirror , shall I continue ! Host very helpful but just not to out taste.

Excellent location. We chose attic room no. 8 for the view of the Abbey but not quite as expected! Bill did say the room would be redecorated shortly which it needed. Curtains and roof window blind also need replacing as not fitted properly. Though room was warm with hot water and clean towels and bedding. Breakfast was delicious. Excellent service from Bill who was knowledgeable of the area and very hospitable. Overall enjoyed our stay.

The self check in was great but on leaving we could not lock the key in , the room was perfect for a 2 night stay , also we like if you needed anything for your room it was there on the landing or downstairs

Safe and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Bill the owner went out of his way to help us. Very friendly. Good location. We walked everywhere in Whitby and we are not very fit.

Stayed two nights and Bill (owner) could not do more to help. We have stayed at a range of places in Whitby over the years and the owner was top of the pops for kindness and consideration. Had a long chat one morning, which is appreciated when you understand how busy they must be and makes you feel valued. Room had lots of nice touches and in a good location. Would 100% recommend.

Stayed two nights and Bill (owner) could not do more to help. We have stayed at a range of places in Whitby over the years and the owner was top of the pops for kindness and consideration. Had a long chat one morning, which is appreciated when you understand how busy they must be and makes you feel valued. Room had lots of nice touches and in a good location. Would 100% recommend.

Lovely B&B. Bill is a lovely host. We had room 2, which is really nice with a sea view. Very nice breakfast. Easy walking distance to the beach, quayside, town centre, all the main attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in Whitby.

What a great place to stay, our host was superb and couldnt do enough for us. The room was clean and tidy with an ensuite. Breakfast had ample choices for those who have different tastes, was fresh and cooked to perfection. The location was ideal for us and a 10 minute walk to the harbour, of note there is a hill to climb for those not able to get around as well. Would definitely stay again.

Our stay at Argyle House in late September this year was good. Bill, and his son, were very friendly and helpful. The room, on the first floor, is a good size, quirkily decorated ( rather gothic), well furnished, bedding good, and clean. Bathroom quite small , with a good shower etc. Located high up on the West Cliff side a few minutes walk from the Cook Memorial and 10 minutes walk down to the harbour and town centre. There is on street parking only ( a local parking permit is provided) ; if you are lucky to find a spot nearby leave the car there and walk everywhere if you can. There is no breakfast provision although there are a couple of good nearby cafes. Restaurant eateries are a bit further away.

Great little b and b x location excellent - 5 minutes to the famous whalebone and 10 into town and the harbour. Bill a very obliging host - room cosy with comfortable bed and nice shower room. No complaints about this venue at all. Once you get used to the slightly quirky nature of some of the fittings, such as a bat hanging from a light and red bed linen with black bed bedstead, it was what you would expect from a guest house. Breakfasts were great. As a bonus, you are provided with a parking permit free of charge (the hotel we stayed in in Scarborough charged £5 per night for this). Overall, this is an excellent place to stay.

The Argyle was a lovely guest house. A good walk to the front, but enjoyable. I couldn't comment on the staff, because there weren't any! All booked online, keys and car parking disc, left in an envelope at the door. Very difficult to get in touch with the owners if you needed anything. Too impersonal for me, I like a meet and greet.

Although we didn't have the pleasure of meeting the owner the instructions and communication was perfect, the room.was clean and very well presented the gothic look was great and perfect vibe for pirate weekend that we didn't know about but was so much fun, the B&B is just a short down hill walk to the town perfect really
