Motel 6-Metropolis, IL

I was pleased , I bring my dog with me and love how I was given a ground room and just when I wanted a towel etc asked for one , friendly staff and housekeeping , I think I’ve found my go to motel when I go to the Superman convention ❤️❤️❤️

There was ample parking. The building is very old and can use some work. Staff was friendly. I was in a room with a fridge and microwave but had no coffee maker or cups that would go in the microwave. No table, just the desk under the TV. Definitely bare minimum.

I rate hotels and motels based on value for price paid so keep that in mind. Two properties can be nearly identical, but if one is $60 a night and the other is $150 a night, they may get very different reviews from me. That said, this is a decent property for the price. Clean, quiet and updated. Room is spacious, and no carpet is always a plus. Climate control is newer and works well. Mini fridge is, well, mini, but has a little freezer section and on max setting, it maintained 36° in the main section. There's a small microwave, and a small (42"?) wall mounted TV. Full remote which allows you to change the inputs. Good wifi. Bed is very comfortable, and although there isn't much furniture, it is new and in good shape. No soft seating, just a single school-style chair. No coffee maker, iron or hairdryer. The only toiletries included are tiny bars of soap. No shampoo or lotion. Plenty of power outlets near the bed. Walls are freshly painted, and the ceiling likewise. Water is warm enough to shower, but not scalding like most other hotels. Nice area with new sink and faucet, but tub/shower are older. There is a laundry / vending area with a single washer and dryer, and a soda machine. There's a travel center 100 yards away. No insects, and I checked. Some have skin reactions to overbleached sheets and start screaming about bedbugs. It's silly. I stay in a lot of budget motels, and this one is as good as any at the price.

One night stay while on a road trip. Nice, clean and quiet. Plenty of parking. Laundry facilities clean. Would stay again.

One traveler pet traveling for school clinical. Decent, somewhat better than comparable hotels within driving distance (i.e. Baymont Paducah & Red Roof Paducah --ewww). Non-smoking room smelled of cig smoke. It helped to leave the exhaust fan on 24/7. Towels were not replenished despite leaving them on the floor. Big gravel parking area for dog to run/play ball was a huge plus. Free pet was a plus.

Very friendly staff. The bathroom was nice and clean. Plus laundry facility, which is what I really needed. Good stay for a tired traveler.

The room was lovely and so VERY clean, as was the self-laundry room. The property in it's entirety was well attended. The staff was very attentive, friendly, and efficient. Will definitely stay here again.

Can’t complain when you’re tired and need a place to rest. Nothing fancy just park at the door and sleep.

This hotel is family owed. And it is quiet, clean, and right off hwy 24 at the Kentucky, Illinois State Line. I have stayed here many times while visiting my son in Southgate Rehabilitation. The family is kind and welcoming. If you are looking for frills, bells, and whistles, this is not the place. If you want a good nite sleep, at a reasonable price, this is it.

Reasonable price if you're just looking for a place to sleep. The bed linens and towels seemed clean but the rest of the room was pretty dingy--hair all over the bathroom, cockroach, dirt on the walls and floor, lots of dead flies. I probably wouldn't stay here again.

Room 120 near the office is filthy, filthy, filthy. The baseboards are coated with grime, mop-slop and hair, and floor is dirty. Tub is dirty. Bed passed inspection, but just barely. No Woman would ever stay there. High rotation room needs a good scrubbing and a paint job. Yuck !

This place is falling apart. No safety chain for door on one room. Just hanging off door on the other. Bathroom was gross with black mold. Bathroom door wouldn’t even shut. One of the worst rooms I have ever had. Stay elsewhere!

Room was not clean at all. AC unit was missing the cover and covered in dust/dirt. Sheet had hardened “fluids” most likely from sex. Had a very awful smell as if someone had smoked in the room. (Was a no smoking room). Needless to say we did not stay and I got a room up the street.

It’s alright. Room 106 is freaking huge. It’s a Motel 6. That’s about all you need to say. 😁.

Extremely basic room. Ok for a stop and sleep. Didn't feel dirty but definitely older. Obvious they have been updating some.

The beds for me was great. Pillows sucked. I sugest to being ur own. Room very large and bathroom had great water pressure. I sugest.

Stayed for one night and was a great stay. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It was recently updated in the last few years and changed from a room with 2 beds to a room with one bed. So spacious but there was no other furniture in the room.

This was a quick stop on a cross country drive for two people and was good enough for that. It is right next to a truck stop that was busy and loud but the front desk was kind enough to give us a room on the opposite side which was less noisy. There were some creepers lurking around the area. The smoke detectors were covered in plastic bags and it was obvious there had been some smoking in there. It wasn’t the best maintained but it wasn’t dirty or gross - I wouldn’t call it a dive but I don’t think it’s meant for children or families. It worked for one nights stay.

Nice as far as Motel 6 goes. Outside lights a bit too bright I could not darken room for sleeping. Fortunately I was very tired so didn’t matter.

It was quick. Just stayed about 8 hours. Needed to get the dog to the groomer before noon and still had 2.5 hours of driving to go. The clerk was on his first night. I did have to explain to him I had already paid. He was a little nervous, but nice.

I have stayed at this hotel many times. It’s family owned. If you are looking for luxury, this is not it. However, you will get a good night’s rest and a clean bed. Any problems you may have with the room are quickly addressed. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We stayed for one night prior to the eclipse and the room was a good value. The motel is conveniently located near Metropolis but only a 15-minute drive to Paducah. I also left an item and the manager was so helpful in locating it and communicating next steps for him to mail it back to me! Really helpful and kind.

This was one of our most disappointing overnight stays on our 5 week roadtrip across the country. We are learning that not all motel 6 are created equal. This was one of the more expensive "cheap stays" and had less than some of our $40/night rooms. I would have still given it a decent review if it weren't for our experience with housekeeping. At 930am, someone started pounding on our door. Not knocking, but pounding like there was a fire. I was on a work call and opened the door to let them know we would be there until check out at 11am. I was asked to open the curtains when we left so they knew. Within 10 minutes, someone else was knocking and identifying themselves as housekeeping. I had the door stop on the door, thankfully, because they just opened the door while knocking as I was in route to the door. I also let them know we will be there until 11am check out. Within 10 minutes, a third staff member was knocking on the door and opening it. Thankfully again, the door stop was on. I had to leave my meeting, inform the housekeeping they were the 3rd person to open my door this morning and I've already informed them that we would be there until 11am. They were apologetic (the only one of 3 that was), and I asked for a do not disturb sign. Didnt get it but no one else bothered me for the remaining hour I was there. Being a woman alone in a hotel and having your door opened 3 times by the hotel staff was unpleasant and arguably, what nightmares are made of.

Room wasn't clean , several different kinds of hair were in the room upon checkin. When I checked out they didn't check out the correct room number. When I saw the paper , after I had left, they had another person's name and address information.

We were looking for a place that was inexpensive and yet clean and out of the Atlanta area and took pets. I called the place directly and got a hold of Christian. He was awesome even after we got lost.He was so helpful and we would stop again. Thanks

I didn’t like that the stairwells were very slippery, the bathroom electrical receptacle did not work, the room was cold when we arrived and took a couple hours to warm up, and the worst was that housekeeping woke us banging on the door 2.5 hrs before checkout

Had to ask for towels and wash clothes multiple times. Having to give your dirty towels to clerk to receive clean one is not the best way to accommodate guests. Only putting 2 in the room when the room sleeps 4 people.

I was surprised at the quality of the room. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly.

Stopped in for a night, right off the interstate. Quiet area, clean grounds and the room was clean.

This Motel 6 was great for the price. It was a very comfortable, quiet stay. The staff was excellent and kind. Now this is budget so don't look for fancy amenities. However, it is well kept and clean for the price. It is convenient, right off Hwy 24 and across the bridge from Paducah, Ky where this are restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. In Metropolis, there’s Harrah’s Casino and Superman memorabilia. After all, it is Metropolis. I enjoyed staying at this motel and would most definitely stay here again.

It was a place to stay. Distance from downtown Metropolis was great. There was a nice tv and clean working mini fridge. No extras at all like coffee in the morning or blankets in the room. Overall if you’re looking for a cheap and clean place to sleep this is it. A bonus was that they allowed our dog so our dog was able to have his first road-trip. Would stay again.

We liked that we had a fridge and microwave in our room.

Bathroom had chipped paint on the wall, Ac unit worked but was missing the front covering. Not bad for the price, says breakfast included online but doesn’t provide that service but they do offer coffee.
