property manager who greeted me was very friendly and helpful! My room was small but comfortable with air conditioning. The rooms are tight/small but functional. I would recommend staying there since clean and easy to get to places on island.

The Orca Inn is cheaper than most places in Friday Harbor but that doesn't mean it's cheap. Friday Harbor in the summer is a very expensive place to stay. The location is good - walkable to most places. We appreciated that they checked us in early and the staff was pleasant. We also appreciated the air conditioning on an unusually hot day. We were disappointed that there wasn't an ice machine that could meet the needs of the guests. The internet was out the night we were there which was also disappointing. The TV is through the internet so we couldn't catch up on the news we had missed while we had been off grid for a bit. Also, one of the beds was sort of broken.

Im in a nuce twin bed, with a nicecquite flat screen in front if the bed a nuce twun, a fridge, microwave behind the bed, and the side wall iscthick cant hear anything, very tight, bright wood construction, other side had a nice bathroom shower, and a seperate side open alcove with sink and full length clothing, coat hanger cliset, a nice wood bureau is beneath the TV. Fully appointed, huge grocery store about 100 feet from property, but you would never know, well, screened, quiet, safe, ckean, really clean, super friendly staff, ymj6st up the hill from friday harbor, but very central, yes i like it here alot!

No coffee. If you sit on the bed and extend your legs, you're in the bathroom. It is the smallest room I've ever seen. No tv unless you log into one of your streaming accounts. The old fashion keys are ridiculous. You need to lock the hallway door, but the door doesn't close properly. They need to spend a little more on their property.

Was good except for the showers. One the shower door magnets did not line up to keep the door closed. The other, there was no way you were getting a full hot shower if you are shampooing your hair and you have more than 3 hairs on your head. The water goes cold by the time you wash your hair. If they were serious about water conservation. They would have low flow showerheads so you could have a hot shower on the tiny amount of hot water in the tank.

This hotel was literally half the price of any others that I looked at. I was traveling alone, so a small room worked just fine. Fridge and microwave in the room. It's about a ten minute walk from the harbor and has plenty of parking. The staff are all SO nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

The room was very clean the best part , but was so small a night stand was not bedside. We had a queen size bed. The tv would benefit travelers if streaming sites were available. It’s a mile from town but uphill most of the way, still not a bad walk if you’re not carrying large luggage. The shampoo and body soap are in a dispenser so best to bring your own, walk in smaller shower but good. The bed was not comfortable but we managed. A nice advantage is it’s right across the street from a great bakery to get a bite and coffee for breakfast. YI would stay here if you’re on a budget but next time will pay the money for a larger hotel room.

We love staying here, easy in and out, although the airport is close we didn't have a second of noisy intrusion. It's a basic hotel with no frills but all the essentials & all the rooms are floor level. The only thing we forgot about was there is no in-room coffee maker, but patronizing any of the multiple coffee houses is a pleasure anyway. Plus the grocery store is walkable, right next door!

Door didnt lock. Door doesnt even fit the door jam. Felt completely unsafe. Room had a urine smell that I noticed when trying desperately to sleep. So much light coming in. The blinds dont even come to the bottom of the window so dont get undressed! I worked all day and when I got in at nearly 10 at night the only response I got from management is that I should have told them sooner. Do not stay here. Unsafe and no privacy.

First time ever writing a review for a hotel because it was just that good! The rooms are incredibly well kept and the whole place is spotless. The grounds we beautiful as well. We loved our stay and can’t wait to come back. Highly highly recommend to anyone coming to the San Juan’s.

Very clean small hotel, nice lady at the front desk who cared enough to call us on the day of arrival. The premises are clean, and “retro” can’t even call this place “old” because everything feels very clean - spotless shower, like CLEAN 😃 Walkable distance to downtown,

Please do not waste your money on this Inn. The room was in terrible condition. Aging falling apart decor. Dirty shower and bathroom area. Dirty indoor/outdoor carpeting. There is only 1 foot space between the side of the bed and the wall. We could not open the door to the bathroom all the way because it hit the bed. We had no room for 2 suitcases. There were wasps outside our window. There were spiders in the room. The pathway to the room was blocked by an overgrown tree. The room is so tiny, so the sound of the mini fridge was overwhelming. The shower only has hot water for one person and then you have to wait at least 30 min for hot water again. They never came to service our room or replace towels after the first night. The room was so dirty and terrible we demanded our money back and we had to fight them for it. They eventually gave us 2 nights money back and we went to a different hotel. But they made us pay full price for the 2 nights we stayed even though the room was dirty and tiny. Please do not waste your money here.

The Orca Inn is truly one of the least expensive places to lodge on San Juan Island. I was greeted by the manager of the lodge -KJ; super courteous and helpful. The room, a single queen bed, non-smoking room, was clean and had everything we needed to rest comfortably after a wonderful day on that gorgeous island.

The room was small but super comfortable and the cleanliness of the room impressive ! It was evident the staff takes pride in their work with high attention to detail. Location was great close to downtown and right across the street from a food co-op bakery coffee shop with all locally sourced and organic items. I would definitely stay here again !!

This is the place to stay if you're coming to the island to do things on the island, not hang out in your room. Affordable, very clean. Small rooms. Great for sleeping and taking a shower and getting back out into the world. Not always quiet so bring earplugs. If you want to linger in luxurious lodgings, this is not your place. If you want to visit San Juan Island without spending a fortune, this place is clean and comfortable. I slept great.

Pros: It was easy to check into. The room was very clean. It had nice hot water. The person at the front desk was friendly. It is reasonably priced. It is centrally located. Cons: The room is small. Not much space to bend over and shave your legs in the shower. The bed seemed smaller than a queen. Cozy for two people. There is definitely not enough insulation between the rooms. Our neighbors woke us up a few times with things we didn't want to hear. Overall it was fine. The biggest negative was hearing our neighbors.

This hotel was cute and cozy. It was exactly what you would expect from an island inn. We had a room with 2 queen beds. It also had 2 bathrooms and 2 showers. The shower was a stand up only shower and seemed smaller than most. There wasn’t very much room to walk around the beds. These are not necessarily negatives, we enjoyed our stay and it suited us well. If we had smaller kids, I think it would have been difficult for them to have such limited space. It was very clean inside and out. We didn’t have any issues with it, we just wanted to share some info for other families.

This is a good place for the price. Staff were amazing and the history behind it was great to hear. Rooms were so small. I mean so small my husband and I were dancing around each other to use the bathroom out get our things. We didn't mind because we only needed it to sleep in. There is so much to do around the island. Noise traveled.. I heard people entering the halls from the other side. Woke us up. The beds were uncomfortable and noisy. Couldn't even adjust without squeaking and walking up my partner. Considering this was the only time we were in the room, it left a poor experience in our memory.

VERY tiny and dated. The shower was new, but everything else was from the 60s. Nice area, and clean inside and out. If they could expand the room size and do a few upgrades, this place would be my go-to in Friday Harbor.

Room is really small. Reminded me of hostel. Suitcase on 1 x 4 ft desk/table or on the bed. Unit was Clean. Nice towels. Not enough outlets for devices. Fridge and microwave. Shower was a 3 x 3 install unit. No coffee maker in room but available in another building. Internet was weak = 8 mb down. 3 up. If you’re looking for bare minimum, this will work fine.

The Inn served our needs since we stayed only from 4pm - 9pm. We needed an affordable place to rest and shower before boarding the late ferry to Anacortes. What we do recommend that the shower water pressure is increased. The shower was a trickle, but still hot.

Good stay. Rooms are clean with basic equipment. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The front office manager Laura was very nice and helpful during our stay. Will definitely stay there again in future.

I did not expect much for the price we paid but this little gem met all our needs. The front desk woman CJ was super helpful when we added a night to our stay. Will def stay here again. But if you plan to stay in your room for other than a shower and sleep, this may not the place for you.

This hotel was literally half the price of any others that I looked at. I was traveling alone, so a small room worked just fine. Fridge and microwave in the room. It's about a ten minute walk from the harbor and has plenty of parking. The staff are all SO nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

The Orca Inn is a great place to stay, as long as you understand where you are staying and as long as you determine ahead of time that it meets your needs The Orca Inn is not fancy. Great and affordable area, NOT walkable from the port if you have a suitcase, unless you’re good with an steady incline for 20 minutes. But it was easy to walk after checking in and touring the area.

We wanted a quiet, clean, safe, and convenient place to stay while we explored San Juan Island, and this was exactly what we hoped for. It was only a few blocks from the ferry, and near grocery store and bakery. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. It is economical and family friendly! We can heartily recommend this property.

The Orca Inn is not a fancy place, but it's in a great location for access to the waterfront and downtown area of Friday Harbor. My room was sufficient for my needs, and I was able to walk to the restaurants and marina, which suited me just fine. This is an expensive place to visit, and The Orca Inn is a great value for the money,

An easy 15 minute walk from the ferry dock, the Orca Inn is a collection of buildings originally constructed in Alaska to house workers cleaning up the Exxon Valdez catastrophe. They were transported to Friday Harbor and regrouped into the Orca Inn, pretty much a motel layout. Friendly staff, free hot drinks and instant porridge mix. Basic room with a microwave and it’s all we needed for an overnight stop on the island.

We love staying here, easy in and out, although the airport is close we didn't have a second of noisy intrusion. It's a basic hotel with no frills but all the essentials & all the rooms are floor level. The only thing we forgot about was there is no in-room coffee maker, but patronizing any of the multiple coffee houses is a pleasure anyway. Plus the grocery store is walkable, right next door!

The Orca Inn was definitely a Budget option, but it was perfectly adequate. The room was small, but clean. I would say it was a “no frills” accommodation, but it was convenient to town and a fantastic bakery (Bakery San Juan) nesrby. If all you need is a clean place with a comfortable bed, this is a great option. But don’t expect more.

Can't be beat - it's quiet enough if you have the fan running, clean, and cheap relative to all the other motels on the island with comfy enough beds that you can sleep well before you go on an overnight sea kayaking adventure.

Room was relatively small and minimalistic, but very well maintained. You could tell that they take pride in the display and care of their rooms when their guests arrive. Check-in and check-out were super easy and friendly. There was plenty of parking and the location was very walkable. Next time I find myself in Friday Harbor, I will definitely look into staying here again!
