Travelodge by Wyndham Santee

First impression wasn’t great having to guess where the office was at this small, single-level motel. It was nice however, not having to climb stairs and having a reserved parking spot right at your front door. Having stayed at several other budget hotels in the general area, entering the room was a pleasant surprise; clean and odor free! Also the ample lighting, a very comfortable bed, with sparkling clean sheets, a very clean bathroom and clean towels, all mage a big impression. (No, budget hotels aren’t all this nice). Another big plus was the peace and quiet. I saw other cars but heard nothing for a nice, restful nights sleep. For breakfast there were bananas, bagels and muffins, cold cereal and a waffle maker. This and some reasonably good coffee was sufficient to last me till lunch a few hundred miles down the road. I will certainly be stopping here again on our next trip down south.

The amenities they advertised were not available.

They advertised pool but was not usable no water. Killed two spiders upon entering room one was clearly visible and so was web. Toilet not secured to floor and dirt was so thick in corners you could tell they just did a quick wipe of floors and each time just pushed more dirt in corners

Room itself was ok. Bathroom toilet kept flushing and water temp control on shower was all over the place. Shrubbery and parking lot were unkempt. As well pool, although drained had a bunch of trash and a broken sign in it. It was not a welcomed sight and made my family and I uncomfortable. If it wasn’t for the 24 hour cancellation policy I would have cancelled my reservation on how the grounds looked.

What a dump! Room was decent, clean but the exterior is a dump! Smells, it’s dirty, garbage, very small parking. Don’t bring a trailer, there is no turn around, you have to back out into the busy road. We didn’t even eat here because of how unkept this place is and can only imagine how the food handling/ storage is.

We stayed here on the way to the Port of Charleston. Beds were comfortable but small as they are doubles and there are 4 of us. Rooms were clean. Check in was fast and easy. Parking is plentiful. There is a pool that is not in service, but we weren’t here for that. The outside is a bit messy/run down.

We checked in late on a road trip completely exhausted, otherwise we would have walked right out. The fridge had mould growing inside of it, the front of it had old food spilled on it, the microwave had food crumbs inside, one bed had lipstick stains on it, the towels had black hair on them, there was a thick layer of dust on the ac unit, the floor was unswept, mould growing on the faucet, the pool was disgusting (not in service but check the photos attached), the walls in the bathroom had questionable stains all over it. I’m sure id we looked harder we could have found more issues but we asked for the bed to be changed and slept in our clothes and shoes. Ugh. Never again.

The staff is amazing, very professional and courteous. Our room was comfortable and clean.

Disgusting. Filthy room. Dirty sheets and towels. Feces smeared on bathroom walls. Mystery fluids on walls. Questionable “business” deals in parking lot. Random sketchy people hanging around. Loud noises in the night. 0/10; do not recommend.

While I appreciate that the rooms have been somewhat updated, they were not clean. The first room had black mold on the bathroom ceiling and running down the walls. Toothpaste was in the sink. The wooden headboards were covered in hand prints and I don't know what else. The coffee pot and tray were covered in drips and splashes and hair. Just dirty everywhere. Horizontal surfaces were fury with dust. We complained and they did give us another room without black mold, but still dirty.

The bed is very squeaky. The air conditioner unit made all kinds of noises. The bathroom was disgusting. They need to clean the toilets much better.

This place is very dirty. The ac vents has tons of dust and debris, the mirrors has not been wiped, can see stains/spots from previous guest, multiple stains from the toilet surrounding. The towels has stains on them as well. Just wanted a place to sleep overnight while traveling and the lack of basic cleanliness at this place is unacceptable. Avoid

The shower curtain had mold spots, toilet constantly ran. The blankets were questionable, glad we used our own. The breakfast was minimal and all carbs, stale and not good. If you need a one night just to sleep and leave, it is ok for $60.

They are renovating this hotel. It was nice now, but will be great when the renovation is completed.

The staff were great and the room was very clean. Great value for the price with the exception of the noisy A/C and non-sound proof where you hear every guest coming in and out including the cars

Comfortable stay and quiet. Bed was very comfortable.

Initial noise complaint from neighbor. Requested a new room but the hotel clerk asked them to cut the noise down but that didn't really changed until a few hours later. Killed one roach but it was decent enough for a one night sleeper.

This place is a hidden gem in Santee. That said, the outside of the front entrance and both parking lots are horribly rundown. The rooms are renovated and clean. The bed and water pressure in the shower is fantastic. For a solo stay, perfect for me.

Client in next room was screaming nonn-stop; EXTREMELY upsetting and kept us awake for hours. We did not get a restful sleep after an 8 hr drove😬 Client was asked by the front desk to vacate premises around 5am. Not sure we will be returning to this location😵

This is an older hotel that is in the process of getting upgraded. We had a problem with the TV but management came over in a few minutes and got the TV working. Hairdryer didn't work but we didn't report until we were leaving because we were in a hurry. I think for the price, it wasn't bad. They are really trying to complete the upgrades and I think it is good to keep older less expensive hotels on the market.

The hotel has a good location and the room was clean and upgraded, but the bathroom was still outdated.

We asked for a non-smoking room. When we walked in our room, it smelled so strongly of cigarettes that I could hardly breathe. We complained to the front desk and asked if we could have a different room that did not smell like smoke. The guy from the front desk was very rude, came to our room and told us there was no smell of smoke there. He also told us that the smoke detector in the room was proof that there was a no smoking room. That is ridiculous as it is a federal law that every hotel room has to have a smoke detector in it. There was a hair in the bathroom sink. There were 2 very small, very rough towels to use for our showers. We would certainly never stay here again.

Our reservations were cancelled. I chose to PAY at the Property and they tried to charge my card before we arrived and my card STAYS LOCKED until I unlock it, so of course the transaction was declined. We then had to find new accommodations. We ended up staying across the street at the EconoLodge and it was nice.

Great for over night stay with price and location. Check in was probably theee fastest I've ever had. Hospitality was perfect, even with the smaller size of hotel, check in person told us where our room would be. Rooms are overall clean, great value for the price. Could just use a one time deep clean to get all of the tiny build up on floor and etc. Bed was large, comfortable, plenty of pillows. Room temperature was great, ac worked quickly. TV and free internet gave no problems. I would definitely stay here again!

Check in was quick and breakfast was good

The worst place I ever went to! After driving for almost 7 hours, we walked into the room. On top of the smell being awful, there was hair and stains on the bedding. The AC had dust on the outside and the filter was caked with brown dust. There were burn marks on the bath tub. The bed skirt was ripped. There were cobwebs all over the place. The microwave wasn't clean (had crumbs). The chairs were old and ripped. It looked like a scene from the First 48. Needless to say, I called the front desk and politely asked if we could switch rooms. The Manager seemed irritated and said he was going to come see what I was talking about. I started to pull the bedding down and the Manager, again irritated, told me I was not allowed to mess with the bed unless I keep the room. He told me if I didnt like the room then I could leave with a full refund. I told him I had to call Hotels.com to see if they could transfer my reservation since we clearly needed a room somewhere. After being on the phone with Hotels.com for quite a while, I was informed that the Manager would only approve a refund for 2 of the 3 nights because we entered the room. Hotels.com wouldn't transfer funds (only gave a small credit), so we had to book another room and wait for a partial refund. Upon leaving, the Manager said he spoke with Expedia and approved a full refund, which was clearly a lie. He didn't even know which company he spoke to.

We have stopped in Santee several times while driving from NY to Florida. Better than most of the 2 star hotels we have stayed at. Pretty quiet and easy on and off to I95. Exterior lights are very bright and room was not so dark on the side close to the exterior windows. We would use this hotel again but wish the curtains were a little more room darkening.

A very convenient place to crash/stay halfway between DC and Florida. There's are at least a couple chain restaurants nearby as well as a deli and a supermarket. I didn't really explore the area.

The area is just run down and definitely needs an upgrade. The place was fine. The staff were fine, but the area feels unsafe.

Place was ok for the price. Generally clean and friendly. Barely anything for the free breakfast - bad coffee, no fruit, yogurt, protein, waffle machine broke. Luckly to get a bagel and some cold cereal.

Property was dated. Front desk attendant was friendly and efficient checking me in. Very limited breakfast. No CBS TV station. Room was clean and fairly quiet. Bed was very comfortable. For the price I paid it was a good value.

Dirty run down motel (I selected hotel), paint job in the room done by 4 year old. Doors not safe and the surrounding area not landscaped or cleaned in 5 years. Charged me $25.00 for my dog to sleep in the room for a cleaning fee and my dog told me he didn't want to sleep here. (lol). Slept with the feelings of "when do I need to fight for my car or life" Couldn't believe this property was being sold to Expedia clients. The pool area was awful and the breakfast was waffles & cereal and awful coffee. DONT stay here unless you like what I wrote.

For two road warriors, the price were right. Got in late & I got a hot shower. My spouse did not. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom ceiling was peeling, refrigerator didn’t work. Breakfast? They were out of waffle batter. Had cereal or muffins.
