Hopbine House

Upon arriving at Hopine house, we were greeted with a bell not working, so fun getting in, no greeting. Phone numbers stuck to door, first no answer, second eventually answered us, Got code to door to self check in, no checking of reference or anything. My husband felt the lady was abrupt. Upon getting to the door; and going in it wasn’t the room that was booked. The room itself was dingy, too warm ; dusty, dead flies in bathroom, dead bugs on carpet , bathroom wasn’t clean. It was very disappointing so much so we couldn’t rest and left at 4am as we both couldn’t settle. Very disappointing etc. Someone to greet would be nice, the tea, coffee making facilities a hobbit would remain thirsty. Kettles placed with no near plug point. There’s no care, consideration or anything in regards to the property inside and out. Staff that’s a joke there is none.

Arrival was efficient even though we had to phone for the key code to get into reception to get our room key from a key safe. Room had a four post bed and was on the ground floor which was great. Room theme was good throughout and in keeping with the buildings age. However the place was thilthy cobwebs everywhere not sure if this was part of the theme 😂 the bathroom was disgusting and not cleaned from previous guests. Such a shame otherwise would be a great place. Breakfast was delivered early in a picnis style paper bag and left outside our door for us.

On a positive note there were no problems parking and the bed was fairly comfortable. However. . . Half the lights and the TV remote didn't work. Tea / coffee facilities seemed well past sell by date. Bathroom could have done with a deep clean. Never did find out if WiFi was available as my texted message was not answered.

It's dirty, smells of damp, if you have any problems breathing, please avoid at all costs, you might not live to regret it No internet, spiders everywhere, perhaps because of no maintenance, mold in the bathroom, 3rd world accommodation would be better

The amenities were non existent. Bathroom had peeling paint and mildew. Nowhere to put toiletries. Stuffy room with no ventilation or fans for the heat. Proprietor absent. Entered the premises after getting instructions over the phone. No info on places to eat or things to do. No hot food. Breakfast delivered via a paper bag in the morning and left outside our room. Location good, big room. I would not recommend this to anyone.
