Appenzell Inn

Great location close to downtown but far enough away to be quiet. The property is lovely and very well maintained- nice to have chairs outside and some outdoor games on the lawn. The hot tub is epic, but the indoor pool was a little too cold - also nice there is a shower room by the pool. Room was on the small side and the mattress was too soft - we also didn’t expect to have the shower/tub in the room - that was a little odd. Nice breakfast and coffee and granola bars were always available which was a thoughtful touch- they also have popcorn all day and s’mores in the evening when it’s not fire season. Front desk staff was very friendly except one incident where one of the girls seemed to be nervous when my husband went in to get me a coffee. Overall nice place and we’ll definitely come back.

We came up as a family to see the leaves change in Estes Park and enjoy the beauty of nature. The stay here couldn't have been better. I would stay here again for a couples getaway, larger group with friends or family time again. The staff was great, breakfast was generous and lots of variety. The rooms were clean and big. We couldn't have asked for a better place. There's an indoor pool and outdoor hot tub. They also have a really nice patio area as well as lawn games. I very highly recommend the Inn.

Clean room, great amemities like indoor and outdoor pool, large outdoor hot tub, afternoon popcorn, evening campfire w smores. Excellent location near to downtown & Estes Lake trail. Beautiful mountain views. Best part was attentive and superfriendly staff like Cody at the front desk. Can't wait to be back.

Limited parking overflow parking is in the back of property dark and dirt road area with no direction of parking. Hard to see to walk back to your unit.

We had mixed feelings about this property so read to the end. Not sure why the ratings are so high. We did have a BASIC KING ROOM and I can see that many of the other configurations could work for families. The BASIC has a garden tub (w/shower) less than 2 feet from the bed. If there was a shower in a traditional bathroom configuration then maybe the garden tub would be a nice option. The HVAC unit was one foot from the bed, and it seemed to only work properly if the fan was in continual operation mode which was not ideal for sleeping. Overall things were in okay condition, but not good condition. The continental breakfast was a joke the first day we tried it, so we never went back. There is one "office/breakfast area" for both the Appenzell and the adjoining Estes Mountain Inn. Yet, there was only one employee who was somehow supposed to watch the desk and the so-called continental breakfast. When we got there at 8:30 there were no plates, bowls, beverage machine was out of order, which left some toast, dry cereal and not much more. The property was close to town. They did clean the room daily. They have places to relax around the property including a grilling/picnic area, terrace for relaxing, pools seemed clean, gas fire pit by the office, small snacks available in the office, and had smores available in the evening. If you are spending most of the day in RMNP then the property works but it should not get a 9+ rating, more like 7.5 to 8.0 at best.

Initially received the wrong room type and without even asking the front desk staff came over and apologized and gave us an upgrade from what we had booked. Cool place. Lots of yard games, common area with a keurig, DVD’s, board games, and filtered water fountain to use. Very clean.

Great hot tub. Big enough for a lot of people so can spread out.

Clean and comfortable. I loved having separate bedrooms and a living room with a table for our family. We loved the outdoor hot tub and played boardgames at the dining table. Every room had its own tv so we could all watch different things! The bathroom also had an amazing jetted tub for relaxing. Excellent property and will likely come back next summer.

The room was almost great. Nice comfy room with nice clean bed. The only problem was the musty shower curtain. Needs to be cleaned or changed out.

We had a great stay. The Inn was very clean. Staff were very friendly. Even though it was cold outside, we were able to enjoy the indoor pool and outdoor hot tub. The breakfast included several different muffins, toast, cereal, oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, juice and coffee. In the afternoon they have free s’more’s you can make over a fire or indoors if it is too cold. The fireplace in the room was also a nice touch. We would definitely stay here again.

Clean comfortable room. Good location, good breakfast, good value.

The hotel was very basic and ok for the price but there is nothing fancy. Our second night there we discovered a pillow (that we slept on) that had a blood stain on it. We threw this pillow on the floor with the stain clearly visible and they put the pillow back on the bed when they made the bed! The staff member we spoke to at the front desk was very nice and shocked by the stain. That is the only reason I did not rate it one star. Obviously this raises concerns about how thoroughly they cleaned the room prior to arrival.

Our room was very clean and had lots of amenities. The jacuzzi tub was awesome and the kitchen had everything we needed. The pool was great. The only downside was the satellite TV stopped working, but we didn't come to Estes Park to watch TV.

Room was musty and outdated

Room was hot and didn’t cool off after turning AC on.

Our room was nice except for the fact that there was this so-called fan/air conditioning unit in there that sounded like a jet engine that put out this horrendous sound, we couldn’t even hear each other talk? We weren’t sure if that was normal or not? After asking the front desk about it after our 1st night they said yes it was normal nothing more, didn’t offer to have someone come & check it out? It was so loud & hard to sleep, but if you didn’t have it on it was hot? The next night our last night, we just deal with it! Upon check out they say it isn’t normal & they will have someone look at it? A little too late don’t ya think? One other issue was that there was an uncovered window right outside of the bathroom? If you don’t shut the door & take a shower (in which I didn’t) because the bathroom was the size of a box, not realizing about the window until I actually saw somebody walk by right after I got out of the shower???? Why does that window not have a curtain, a blind or something covering it especially right there? I couldn’t believe it!! Other than this stuff, not too bad! But I would probably stay somewhere else!0

Clean, quiet, spacious rooms (we had one with fireplace, jetted tub in room, kitchenette). Patio space right outside room had comfortable lounging area, BBQs, and firepit. Bathroom and kitchen a bit dated, but not a concern to us. Again, very clean. Coffee, toast, cereal, yogurt for breakfast. Go out if you want more than that. We'll come back for another 2 night getaway. Staff was very nice. Thank you.

Asked for top floor and that wasn’t provided. Subsequently, the family upstairs had kids jumping off beds, running, adults stomping. Front desk closes at 8pm so no one to tell. You can hear everything in the rooms. We returned at 10:15 pm and there weren’t any parking spots in the whole place. Had to chance it and park at the hotel next door. The murphy bed was helpful as the room size is smaller than most. Hotel location is a positive.

Good location. Nice room. Bed was too firm and the shower had a leak above the ceiling that dripped through the Sheetrock ceiling. They said it would be fixed.

Such a cozy room! I loved the fireplace and the heart-shaped hot tub in the room! 5 stars!

Clean and comfortable. Room was on the small side. Check the view before selecting your room. Some views are much better than others.

Way overpriced! 15' X 15' room, shower next to the bed. Run down and poor appearance for over $300 AND a non refundable reservation. Very disappointing and thought for that amount of money we had a nicer place to celebrate an anniversary, until we got there.

The staff was incredible form check in to check out. This was my final stop after staying in 4 hotels in the past week. The staff here was far superior than all the others I had dealt with in the past week. Thanks for a great weekend

This place is a total gem! I couldn’t have asked for anything more! The room has everything you need from a microwave, larger size mini fridge, coffee make and all the toiletries in double. They had generous refreshment offerings for guests and all the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The property is inviting and warm. I really loved the architecture of the cabins and my room was spotless. The walk to downtown is on a paved walkway but there is a free trolly as well for guests so it’s a very convenient location yet not in a chaotic area. I will definitely come back my next visit to Estes park and highly recommend it to others!

I had several problems throughout my stay. I was put in the wrong room and eventually switched took 2 days to get a light bulb changed and a propane tank for fire pit. Ppl above us were so loud we didn’t sleep for 2 days and hotel staff did nothing to address!

I liked the location and the room was clean. The front desk clerk that checked us in was very snotty and not friendly. Two times that I dealt with her, she had an attitude was not friendly. Even my daughter said something about it. The room had apparent water damage that was not repaired. The cleaning staff were friendly and did a great job. The property definitely needed updating and repairs.

Good place to stay, we really enjoyed the big room for our family of 6. A little outdated but everything worked so cannot complain. The breakfast was quite disappointing, one type of muffin, yogurt and bagels/toast. The kids just ate cereal so it was fine. The evening pool crowd was loud/screaming kids, one lady brought her dog in the pool area. A little chaotic but we would go back.

We found the Appenzell Inn to be very comfortable during our visit to Estes Park. The Inn is well located for walking to Lake Estes and the center of town. It was a bonus having a stop for the free trolley that started running July 1. While the property is not new, the room we stayed in was comfortable and had all the conveniences we needed during our stay. The staff is friendly and keep the property clean. Having grills and numerous outdoor places to relax throughout the property was a nice touch. We will stay here again.

Great location to hikes, downtown, etc. Clean, quiet, generous size, amiable staff, etc. Decent value per $. I will consider it for the next visit. Nothing negative to say.

Lovely place with great amenities. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our room was just as described, clean, spacious, comfortable, and had everything we needed for our trip. Only thing not so great was breakfast as it was mostly cereal, coffee, juice, pastries and toast so don't count on anything too fancy. Would definitely stay again, tho!

The room was very clean except the shower needs updating. The breakfast was terrible. Eggs tasted terrible. This is not considered continental breakfast. Breakfast needs more protein options.

Breakfast was just ok

This is a nice location for visiting Rocky Mountain National Park. Very close to Beaver Meadows and Fall River entrances. Estes Park is great in its own right. Tons of shopping and dining and sights. This hotel is right near Lake Estes (I walked .5 miles to it) which has a great 3.6 mile trail around it. The hotel itself was nice. The free breakfast is good (waffle makers, bagels, muffins, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, juice, coffee). We were in Bldg C 1st floor and after a few nights our room felt just too small but we booked the basic room, no upgrade. Nice towels and bedding. Peeked in at indoor pool (looked nice) but didn’t partake.

We loved everything about our stay except for the breakfast. Very much below average. Minimal options and still ran out of items prior to the end of breakfast time. A little effort could improve the overall quality.

Property was clean. It could use some modern updates. The continental breakfast was very limited and vague… it was all simple carbs. It would be nice if there were healthier options like fresh fruit daily, cheese, granola, dried fruit, and more protein options.

Room was nice and clean. Pool and hot tub were nice. Excellent location. Tge free breakfast was disappointing. It was much just bread snd cereal. There were pre maid waffles as well. No wggs or meat of any kind.

Generally a very nice suite, and a good value for what we paid. It was a short visit, so we didn't use the kitchenette, but we had a nice stay. Continental breakfast was nothing to write home about, but nothing really wrong with it either. We would come back.
