The hotel is in a good position with direct access to the beech, 20 mins by taxi from central Georgetown. The staff are helpful. Th bedrooms are ok but pretty tired - Mercure should look an overhaul of the furniture and decor. Bedrooms also suffer from corridor noise at night. No bar during day and big opportunity to sell food and drink during the day missed. I can’t really recommend as there is not enough nearby to compensate for Hotel offer.

The rooms were noisy, we had to asked to be moved as we could hear everything through an adjoining door to the room next door. There was black mould in the shower and despite staying 9 nights our room was not cleaned once, just made up daily. A few times we came back late in the afternoon and our room still hadn’t been made up. The WiFi hardly ever worked in our room. If you wanted to ask reception about anything it was always very slow to be able to speak to someone.

It was our annual family getaway and Mercure Penang Beach ticked off most of the checkboxes except a few! The room was great with a fantastic view of the sea. A nice pool and the beach just in front was wonderful. However, we faced few issues with service. On the first day after the check-in, they seemed to have misplaced our luggage. It took a couple of hours and multiple calls to the front desk to finally get our luggages in the room.Also the housekeeping could be a bit more thorough as both the shampoo and the toilet paper were out in the bathroom and we had to call the front desk to get replacement.

Great location, stunning ocean views, clean and comfortable rooms. But really disappointed in how some people would think it's ok to smoke inside the hotel. We had to request the staff to get a different room after they couldn't locate whoever was smoking. The smell would carry through the vents on and off. Definitely a big inconvenience with a 1.5 year old. Staff had to be nudged a few times before they could accommodate us. Parking is free but limited, with more free parking available at the underground parking at the plaza next door.

Room consider clean and comfort, outdoor parking are limited but hotel have indoor parking next to the building. One of the point like to share is lack of room amenities. The superior room (road view) do not have bathmat, no hand tower (but provide face tower) which i think are essential.

The room we had was very dirty, crumbs and hair were left everywhere on the floor and we asked them several times to come and clean and one showed the customer service wasn’t the best. We also had ants everywhere from the kitchen to the dining table.

We had a very poor experience at this hotel and would not recommend. Upon arrival the check in staff could not locate our booking. We waited over 30 minutes until they eventually found it. There were stains on the bathrobes, sheet and towels, The bathroom flooded every time the shower was used and there were ants all over the bathroom. Despite being a non smoking room and floor there was a constant smell of fresh cigarette smoke so much so it woke me up in the middle of the night to check for fire. The service was poor, often there were no tables for breakfast and there was no cutlery available on most mornings. During the dinner service my kids waited 45 minutes after my food arrived for theirs, close to 1.5 hours for basic food and only 2 tables seaters The bar was too noisy so we left we only to be told we can’t drink alcohol in the restaurant (with our meal). I was very disappointed in the lack of service.

It's a nice hotel for the rate charged. Great service and nice location by the beach. Only complaint I have is the cramped bathroom. The door to the bathroom opens inwards and makes it very tight to move around in the bathroom. I don't understand why they don't have the door open outwards instead. The door frames will allow that.

Utterly appalling reservation receptionist phone service. Rang twice and put in hold for er leading to non-confirmation of my hotel reservation. Yet they taken out money from my credit card! Unreliable, highly not recommended to book anything at this hotel. Poor hotel staff training! Horrible experience!

Great location and nice pool which was not busy in late March. Horrible threadbare towels in the otherwise okay room. On site dining only okay. Communication about dining room schedule such as how Ramadan impacted dinner options and expectations regarding paying up front needs improvement.
