Seemed a nice pub, curtains fell down in the single bedroom. Toilet didn't flush properly had to fix it ourselves Wifi was okay wasn't very warm but put that down to being an old building Breakfast was nice, staff were pleasant Shower didn't heat up very well Location was lovely carpark at the back was expensive Thanks for a lovely time A

Noisy as adjacent to busy railway line. Beds were extremely uncomfortable as were pillows. One bed was a camp bed and the mattress was totally inadequate for the bed. Food was decent enough. Staff were ok. rigid check in time of not before 4pm. Car parking was in a pay and display carpark which worked out expensive.

Great location, and views of Morcambe Bay from both bedroom and dining room. Undergoing an extensive refurbishment during our stay, but I think that the snagging list will be on more than one sheet of a4. Staff fantastic, food very good, and good beer selection. Overall good.

Loved the view from our room, lovely to sit and watch the world go by. There is a payable car park next to it, free from 6pm to 8am, or one hour free slots on the road. Had breakfast one day, we waited for the fresh breakfast to be cooked, waited 30 mins, with just a brew. Everyone else had been served and eaten. No complaints when it did arrive. We also tried butterfingers cafe across the road one morning which was lovely and can recommend the coffee pot too. The staff at the hotel were lovely. Only downside really was the shelf in the bathroom wasnt secure enough on the wall and the toilet seat was loose, as it was in the restaurant toilet too. Lol. Would stay again. Love the walk on the promenade and the gardens. Totally recommend paragon shop opposite the duck pond, for duck food, toys and amazing wallings ice cream. Great couple who own it.

Excellent breakfast good bar and evening meal at a very competitive price. Only drawback parking is free after 6pm and until 8am then £1.70 for an hour so had to pay for a couple of hours next morning

Nice room with good views over Morcombe bay. Windows old sash windows a bit drafty and noisy but central heating was good so room was warm. Bar downstairs that serves drinks and food. Car park with plenty of room next to it but need to pay between 8am and 6pm.

Very friendly staff and a lovely room (Captains Quarters). We stayed for one night with breakfast and cannot fault the hotel or staff, the bar has two outside areas for sitting in the sun and the room was clean and obviously recently modernised with a brilliant view over the estuary to Morecambe, breakfast was brilliant and the service from the chef was excellent, can't fault this place and would highly recommend

We stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the view from the window was amazing. There were a few little things wrong with the room - we couldn't keep 2 of the windows open as they were broken and paper was starting to fall off the ceiling - but the hotel is being refurbed, which they do have a sign outside telling you, so I'm sure any issues like that will be sorted. Apart from that, the staff are brilliant, so friendly and helpful, even though they seem to rushed off their feet. The location is perfect, everything in Grange within easy walking distance, and the train station is a few minutes walk away if you wanted to use the hotel as a base to use the train to see other places. The breakfast there was very nice, and a good choice of options, and the evening meals served in the pub are very good value, well cooked, tasty and large portions. We will definitely go back.

Whilst the room, bed, carpet n Towels were clean the two chairs in the Window were stained, it was in need of a refurb. There was no light in the bathroom as the switch was broken and the door wouldn’t close. No heating on the Thurs but it was on on the Friday. The windows are single glazed so there was heavy condensation on them in the morning. Breakfast was ok just very greasy watery. I bet it was a fab hotel at one time but it needs a serious upgrade. I would not stay again.

Good evening. I would just like to say how disappointed I am with the stay that we have just had we stayed in crows nest and powder room the shower didn’t work the tap was broken the bedding was dirty the light didn’t work the plug was hanging down on extension lead touching radiator walls had holes in. We saw menu in bedroom for breakfast when I asked for poached eggs no sorry not available local sausages were Richmond or cheap sausages no beans first morning no weetabix available 2nd morning no weetabix still and no white bread The food we order the first night was disgusting the steak pie burnt and when we complained u offered drink or pudding we paid for a meal it should be replaced or refunded there was no steak on me u as advertised outside the food has gone down hill massively since last year. And the glasses we were served are drinks in at the bar were dirty and the lager was flat. I am asking for the money back in both rooms as it ruined our stay and we won’t Be returning.

Windows and blinds don't work, plumbing needs updating water supply to rooms intermittent. Showers don’t always work. Doors need replacing. Carpets need cleaning or replacing. Rooms not cleaned. Damage in hallways not repaired. Lack of staff during day and hard to find managers or to speak to them. Food good, staff working in poor conditions trying their best to help. Very poor reputation in the area. Would remove from list as recommended until upgrade completed.

The hotel is in a great position Grange. Our room, which was clean and recently decorated, had brilliant view over Morecambe Bay. The staff were all very friendly and polite. However, the exterior of the hotel looks tired and inviting and the bathroom in the room was very small with no fan so the whole room steamed up. Breakfast was ok.

Had a night here as a solo traveller and this place is fine for that. The room was clean and comfortable but not sure it would be for a longer stay. The rooms maintain the period features of this historic building so you have to accept the creaky floorboards etc. The staff were very friendly and the service was ok, I didn’t have the breakfast but a friend of mine who did said it wasn’t worth it. Parking was available in the car park nearby but I can easily imagine you could find it difficult on a busy weekend like a bank holiday. If you arrive before 6pm make sure to only pay up to 6pm. Then go back out and pay enough to cover your needs from 8am when the ‘meter’ starts again so to speak.

A lovely old inn. Handy for parking and beautiful bay views. Room we had was specious and nicely decorated. Sadly the bathroom needed some attention. We were unable to get any hot water at the washbasin. The shower? There's a note about it being an old building and that impacting on the water pressure. But the shower ran very hot or stone cold. Then ran for minutes at a time with a single trickle..... hopefully resolved in planned renovations.

Overall the stay was ok. Our room ( the Porthole) was on the first floor overlooking the pub, so it was extremely loud. Room was clean, but the curtains did not close and the water pressure was very low. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location good, right on the bay and the promenade. Parking was self pay.

Our room was nice - small but it was only for 1 night. However the shower was so small it was difficult to move in it and there wasn't anywhere to put shower gel etc. The water also kept going too hot then cold. We had a meal there on the evening which was delicious, but one of the bar staff came across a bit rude and obnoxious! Breakfast was also delicious and the member of staff serving breakfast was lovely, really smiley and friendly!

Staff were great and very friendly with the kids, view also great from the nest and a great breaky on top, couldn’t ask for more would definitely stay again

Staff were great and very friendly with the kids, view also great from the nest and a great breaky on top, couldn’t ask for more would definitely stay again

The team here make the venue, they really are a credit to the place. Amazing location, clean and tidy but some areas still needing a bit of tlc but I'm sure it's on the list. Food is good, maybe a little high on the price point but, running these places really isn't cheap so probably appropriate. Breakfast was great and even though the mattresses aren't top end hypnos, I had a great night's sleep. Well worth a visit, can't wait to return

Had a night here as a solo traveller and this place is fine for that. The room was clean and comfortable but not sure it would be for a longer stay. The rooms maintain the period features of this historic building so you have to accept the creaky floorboards etc. The staff were very friendly and the service was ok, I didn’t have the breakfast but a friend of mine who did said it wasn’t worth it. Parking was available in the car park nearby but I can easily imagine you could find it difficult on a busy weekend like a bank holiday. If you arrive before 6pm make sure to only pay up to 6pm. Then go back out and pay enough to cover your needs from 8am when the ‘meter’ starts again so to speak.

Noisy as adjacent to busy railway line. Beds were extremely uncomfortable as were pillows. One bed was a camp bed and the mattress was totally inadequate for the bed. Food was decent enough. Staff were ok. rigid check in time of not before 4pm. Car parking was in a pay and display carpark which worked out expensive.

Lovely place we've stayed here a few times and always had a pleasant stay. So close to the rail station and a lovely walk on the promenade.

Beautiful location in a lovely town. Grange and surrounding areas are a joy to visit. Commodore offers excellent views across the bay, close to lovely promenade, parks, shops and great places to eat and drink

Nice room with good views over Morcombe bay. Windows old sash windows a bit drafty and noisy but central heating was good so room was warm. Bar downstairs that serves drinks and food. Car park with plenty of room next to it but need to pay between 8am and 6pm.

Overall the stay was ok. Our room ( the Porthole) was on the first floor overlooking the pub, so it was extremely loud. Room was clean, but the curtains did not close and the water pressure was very low. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location good, right on the bay and the promenade. Parking was self pay.

There wasn’t much to do very close to the accommodation. This may have been due to the time of year. Grange over Sands is a good base for the surrounding area.

Really enjoyed our stay especially the Sunday carvery and the view over the bay from the room. Excellent shops on the doorstep, easy access to the promenade and South Lakeland attractions a short drive away. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room had some minor maintenance that needed attention such as the extractor fan not working and there were no curtains (just a somewhat worn blind). Would stay again especially as it offers a more affordable and quiet alternative to accommodation in the national park.

Loved the view from our room, lovely to sit and watch the world go by. There is a payable car park next to it, free from 6pm to 8am, or one hour free slots on the road. Had breakfast one day, we waited for the fresh breakfast to be cooked, waited 30 mins, with just a brew. Everyone else had been served and eaten. No complaints when it did arrive. We also tried butterfingers cafe across the road one morning which was lovely and can recommend the coffee pot too. The staff at the hotel were lovely. Only downside really was the shelf in the bathroom wasnt secure enough on the wall and the toilet seat was loose, as it was in the restaurant toilet too. Lol. Would stay again. Love the walk on the promenade and the gardens. Totally recommend paragon shop opposite the duck pond, for duck food, toys and amazing wallings ice cream. Great couple who own it.

Room was clean. Staff, particularly bar staff were marvelous, nothing too much trouble. A credit too the hotel. I only had one breakfast there as i dont eat much and it was not nice. I got poached egg on toast. It had been poached in vinegar water and thats what i tasted. Dinner meals good.

I was very disappointed with my stay at The Commodore. The room lacked basic facilities such as a bedside table and lamp, waste bin in the bathroom, a beaker to put a toothbrush in and neither a fan or the ability to open a window in the bathroom. The milk jiggers provided in the room were out of date and there was no sign of the promised 'Anchor Chocolate from the local chocolatier' only a couple of packets of cheap minipak biscuits. The most disappointing thing was the breakfast. I stayed here last year and enjoyed a lovely breakfast with freshly baked croissants, yoghurt and strawberries and this was the main reason I decided to stay again. I don't eat a cooked breakfast but sadly the only thing on offer apart from sliced bread toast was porridge with honey and sugar with no fruit, pastries or any other cereal on offer. I have never had such a pathetic choice in any other hotel I have ever stayed in. Although the porridge was very nice, it took about 30 minutes to arrive meaning I didn't have time for toast as I had a train to catch. I won't be going back again!!

Very friendly staff and a lovely room (Captains Quarters). We stayed for one night with breakfast and cannot fault the hotel or staff, the bar has two outside areas for sitting in the sun and the room was clean and obviously recently modernised with a brilliant view over the estuary to Morecambe, breakfast was brilliant and the service from the chef was excellent, can't fault this place and would highly recommend

Stayed here for one night with our 3 and 10 year old. We all had a lovely stay. Our 3 year old spent most of the stay looking out of the bay window from our room (The Crows Nest) watching the trains and the tide come in. Great service with dinner and breakfast and lovely food, best full English I’ve had in ages. Would thoroughly recommend. Thank you

Not very helpful parking was all pay pay pay stairs to the rooms very narrow and steep we are both desabaled and couldn’t manage the steps the insurance that we took out didn’t cover us for for not being able to manage in the accommodation not very good service or helpful

Yes, very clean, helpful staff, excellent position in the town, good parking, great food by an enthusiastic capable, and innovative young chef. Lovely view over the estuary. Spacious room (The Porthole) with digital TV, strong wifi, tea and coffee etc. Very quiet. Super comfortable beds Yes, as others mention, there are minor imperfections. Very few hotels get everything right, but our stay was not impacted by anything. For example, a tap top was loose (but it worked ok) window stays were missing (but no impact on security or ventilation). This is a very old building which the owners maintain to a high standard despite additional difficulties due to age. Everything in the first paragraph makes up for any minor issues. And, a further factor - the fees per night are very reasonable. We have paid as much, with breakfast, to stay at a Premier Inn. Meal costs are very much in line with the other establishments in town.

The staff were fantastic and the view was awesome. The room furniture had been updated but other aspects had not. Hotels.com stated we had a ceiling fan and we didn’t didn’t even have a lightbulb. The shower room had mould on the ceiling and in the shower. There were clipped toenails on the side and the shower was warm no cold option at all, which on a hot day is not ideal. Breakfast isn’t served u til 9am even on a week day which is a little late for us so we didnt manage to have breakfast.

Clean room with tea and coffee making facilities. There was a notice in the bathroom indicating that the water pressure may be low due to an old plumbing system but we had no issues with the water whatsoever. The view from the room, and indeed the balcony area in the pub, was absolutely superb. The local area is lovely too. Staff were nice and helpful too. The hotel is right on the waterfront, around a 10 min drive from Lakeside pier on Lake Windermere but I would personally recommend driving c.20 mins to Bowness on Windermere if you prefer a livelier location with more options. My only comment would be the QR codes in the helpful information booklets provided took you to an old menu for the pub food and i think it would be beneficial if that could be updated.
