When I reserved the room, the online description stated that there was private access to a balcony. The room I was given had no balcony, and the receptionist said that none of the rooms had them. I later found out this was not true. The room also had no air conditioning and was facing west, with the afternoon sun beating down on all of the windows from noon till 5 PM. Most of the other rooms faced east or north. And I could not open the shades because the windows from an adjacent bungalow were 10 feet away. It felt over 90 degrees in the room. And the room was positioned directly behind the front desk wall and underneath the stairs to the upper floors, with lots of noise. I immediately requested a room change but was told that the entire hotel was sold out on a Wednesday in October. When I complained again later, the receptionist only said sorry and I could tell that she knew I was placed in the worst location in the hotel. The room should have been used by housekeeping for storage instead of customers!! Worst hotel experience ever for me.

No air conditioning. Shower had hair that wasn't ours. Remote control for the tv didn't work properly. Beds were uncomfortable. Wires were exposed for the light in the bathroom. Overall room was just old and in need of major remodel. Money paid for this room was absurd! Do not stay here.

My expectations were low, after reading many other reviews, so I was pleasantly surprised. Our room was nicely furnished, with vintage/antique feeling furniture. Nice small bathroom. Overlooked the hills behind the hotel... a nice distant view. We arrived in the morning, and the front desk woman said we could leave our bags until checkin, and would text us if we could get an early checkin. She did text us around 1 pm that we could check in, but we were busy so didn't come back until normal checkin time. After checkout, we again left our bags in the lobby (with many others) until our afternoon ferry. I liked the building and front porch. My only complaint is that there was no coffee anywhere, either in the lobby or in our room. Otherwise, a short and sweet stay. The hotel was closer to the waterfront than I expected. It is toward the end of town, as you approach the Casino, and a short walk up a steep street. As long as you are comfortable walking, it's quick access to anything along the waterfront. Pulling our wheel suitcases was no problem for us.
