Lovely garden spa, perfect for sunny hot weather

We had a group dinner for a friend's birthday. The food wasn't great, the fish was too oily, the poisson a bit dry, service was a bit slow and you had to go to bar to order drinks as not enough waiters came in. The bar closes very early at 10.45 The hot tub wasn't very hot, the photos on the website look like there is a swimming pool but there isn't. The bedroom with the four poster was lovely and the bed was super comfortable.

We loved our stay and our access to the garden spa. Such a lovely night sleep and relaxed morning.

Really nice place. My wife and I spent an enjoyable few days in the area and despite a wedding being held at the hotel the weekend we were there, there was no problem with noise or access to facilities. Lovely restaurant, grounds, spa and staff.

Excellent, staff friendly and gave good information. Room very clean only stayed for one night, breakfast had a good choice .

Lovely hotel in a gorgeous setting. Weather was so hot and unfortunately there was no air con so that's the only reason I've not given 4 stars. The room was a good size, lovely bathroom and shower. However the room was quite dark due to the tiny window. My room 33, was quite a distance from reception with a few stairs and i dont think it would be suitable for anyone with mobility issues as there wasn't a lift. Everyone was lovely and it was spotlessly clean with an iron, kettle etc. I'd stay again if i could have a room with a bigger window and not during a heatwave 😁

Very clean, tidy, food was great although on the expensive side.

The hotel has lovely staff and are always friendly. The room that I had was a bit worn. The bed was great but the walls and the bathroom were in need of refurbish. The grout on the floor had started to go black and window frames in the bathroom were peeling due to being wood. The shower was very difficult to adjust to be cooler. Required 2 hands for me to move the temperature to the right, although hot was easy to turn. The food is lovely and has a great selection on the menu

Put up 4 business guests and dined as a table of 8. In honesty nothing like the level of service I recalled from using the same hotel some years back. Clean and functional yes so no complaints on that level but the “finer touches” were far from there.

Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Nice rooms, spotlessly clean and well stocked. Restaurant delivered good fresh food with generous portions. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would like to return someday. Easy parking. Beautiful grounds.

The Hotel is excellent. The Staff are friendly and welcoming. There was ample parking and the hotel is easy to find. The room was spotless and very comfortable with everything you could need. The Hotel sits in lovely grounds and a wander after dinner was nice. The Hotel also has a spa which i did not get time to use. There was a good choice on the dinner menu with food freshly prepared with excellent service. Breakfast was also very good. I would use the hotel again in the future

A good hotel choice with decent sized rooms and a comfortable bed. I would have gone for five stars but my room had an odd loud buzz that would occur throughout the night, that lasted about three seconds. Also, my room (32) was a long way from reception. I’m fit and able but I was actually laughing at how many corridors, stairs and turns I had to navigate to find my room. Be aware if you have less mobility to request a closer room.

Really quick and pleasant check in, lobby was lovely with open fire and friendly staff. Room was incredible with wood beams yet modern feel and amenities. Bed comfortable with premium bedding and pillows, room had everything you needed. Spoilt for choice in the bathroom with an amazing bath and double shower with incredible water pressure. I stay away alot but this place out performs massively and for the price point I would have paid double what what they gave me. Can't wait to return again and will use the spa facilities hopefully

We have stayed here many times and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. However, this time it didn’t feel as warm and welcoming. Our room was spacious with a huge four poster bed, though it was so unpractical. For a tall or short person, to be able to comfortably get in or out of the bed, the wide hard wooden sides and the incredibly soft mattress made it a real challenge every time you needed to get in or out. Such a shame, as we both had a dreadful nights sleep. There was a lovely second bathroom with a freestanding bath in, but no toiletries, which seemed strange, as you couldn’t move them between bathrooms because they are secured against the wall in the shower. The aircon was really good. No fridge in the room. There was a really cute study area with a desk in the room, which was brilliant until we realised there was no WiFi in that area. Though it was raining, the spa outside was still well worth a visit. Don’t get me wrong. The hotel is lovely and we will definitely stay again, but will make sure we don’t stay in that room again.

Lovely sized room provided and very comfy beds! Could hear noise outside our room when people were there but apart from that we had a lovely stay and would return.

Great check-in. Didn’t use many facilities but the room (no 2) gave me a really homely feel. Really spacious bathroom, comfy bed and a great nights sleep. Just what was needed!

We stayed in room 2. Do not stay in this room in the summer, it felt like we were sleeping in a furnace!! We advised reception and they asked which room it was but nothing was done about it. We don’t complain but it’s made us feel ill

The beds were extremely comfortable, the room was lovely and dark. There was absolutely no noise from other rooms, and the rainfall shower was fantastic.

I stayed here for two nights as a wedding guest. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. The grounds are beautiful. And it was possibly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.

Arrived at 2 pm, front desk asked us to come back at 3, eventually checked-in at 3 ish, front desk informed that the Spa closes at 4:30. Rushed to the Spa straight after check-in, and the woman at Spa told us the Spa closes at 3:45 instead because they need time to "clean-up". So we ended up spending 15 mins at the Spa.. Went to the Spa next morning, only to find out the Spa was closed the whole day due to "maintenance"! Complained to the front desk when checked-out, and the lady said "well, it's not enjoyable when it's cloudy anyway". EXCUSE ME?! No compensation and nothing from the management to compensate for no Spa which is the obvious reason why people choose this place instead of a Holiday Inn... Not what a 4 star hotel service should be like! Will go to Rushton Hall Hotel next time...

Has stayed here a few times before I found it to be a reasonably pleasant hotel, until an issue arises. Had an issue with the booking but found the management were almost impossible to get hold of and unsympathetic to any issues. Will not return

The hotel staff are very friendly and very welcoming, the service in the restaurant was incredible, as for the food, it was fantastic, very quick service, ruby is a big asset to your restaurant,.she was very polite and professional, thank you very much for your great service, i will definitely be satying again and i highly recommend staying here Thank you ruby 😐

Really enjoyed my stay on a business trip but it would have been nice to share it with my wife! Cannot praise the staff enough as they were so friendly and professional and i will definitely stay again. The grounds outside were kept very nice so that was a bonus.

Barton hall is well presented, reasonably well staffed and a pleasant place to stay. Avoid the restaurant at all costs though, helpful junior staff that need more training and attention to detail. We ate there on our first night because although pricey they have an AA rosette and so we assumed quality would be good. We were shown to our table half an hour late having waited an hour for a booking slot, we were acidicly informed that they were busy (although many tables were empty). The starters were ok but my main (lambs liver) was supposed to be medium rare and was very well done. I sent it back and they took half an hour to produce another which was equally over cooked. We were hungry having been travelling all day and so my wife ate her meal which was adequate enough if a little over (sea bream £28). I sent my second inedible main back and by then had lost my appetite…. The lady restaurant manager, Eastern European at a guess was brusque and downright rude, I requested obviously that I would not be paying for my main and that my wife should equally not pay for hers because she ate alone and I missed out completely. The manager refused outright and to save too much of a scene my wife agree to pay for hers. We are elsewhere for the other two evenings and can absolutely recommend the Snooty Fox which is 10 mins drive away, excellent service and amazing food :) In summary, a nice but overpriced hotel but avoid the restaurant or indeed try it at your peril.

The hotel itself and the restaurant staff were lovely. It is the perfect place to get away and still be close to town centre amenities. The dinner was excellent, and there was a nice selection of options. The rooms were clean and fresh, with a fab bathroom with a large bath my son loved. However, there is a but—the hotel on Expedia markets itself as having a pool; the opening primary photograph is of a pool. IT IS NOT A POOL. This is a hydrotherapy pool. There is a big difference; the pool has bubbles (like a jacuzzi) and is only open to people over 18. Neither of these criteria is mentioned in Expedia's hotel details or on their own website. I explicitly booked this hotel for two reasons: the proximity to a big family gathering we were having in Barton Seagrave and because it stated that it had a pool so my son could swim. On check-in, the receptionist passed me off to the spa team, who were abrupt when I asked for clarification on using the pool. To add insult to injury, our allocated room had one small window that looked directly out over the pool - sorry, hydrotherapy pool. This hotel is excellent for couples or those without children, and I'd recommend it for that reason. If you have young children, I'd think twice about it.

Hotel interior décor very tastefully done. Bedroom large and comfortable. As weather was stunning made full use of outdoor pool area, was like being on holiday! Staff very welcoming, food very good and will use again.

Staying for just one night due to an event close-by. Beautiful hotel. Would have liked to have had time to use the spa and other facilities but time didn’t permit sadly. Very comfy bed. 👌

Was ok...but very noisy...overlooking lovely lawns but very poor soundproofing on windows with people drinking outside till late.......and the pool in the photo was a lot smaller than it appears in the way the picture was taken.

Beautiful hotel and ideally located. The spa looks nice but didn't have occasion to try it out. Check in procedures leave a lot to be desired! Staff friendliness was brialliant, they make you feel very much at home

Second time of staying recently. Rooms are nice although really need AC as extremely hot with windows in my room only opening a small crack and a below average fan. I had customers meet me for dinner which was good but over priced based on restaurants in hotels i eat ib generally . Starters £9-12 and steak £30 is a bit much for the level of hotel in my experince . Breakfast was also disapointing with the hot food trays empty at 8.30 with no sign of topping up very quickly so in my case no sausages and only a couple of bits of bacon left, also luke warm .

Awesome place, food a little pretentious and overpriced for the portion sizes but apart from that awesome. Breakfast amazing though. Staff all lovely

A great stay at the hotel - lovely friendly staff. The room was comfortable and had the added bonus of air conditioning. Good selection of food at the buffet breakfast. Would stay again. Added bonus - Tesla superchargers on site!
