Great hotel in the middle of Newquay. Surrounded by bars, shops and eateries. Took my dog with me who was made very welcome. Great breakfast and plenty of parking. Have stayed many times and will do again in the future. Many thanks to all.

The Griffin is very central. Outside seating area is great to sit and watch the world go by. Serves food which is nice. My twin room was clean. Beds comfortable. Can be noisy I expect if your room is at the front. I was lucky. It was quiet because of the windy weather. My car was splattered with gull poo, but it's a sea side resort so gulls are are part of the experience.

The property is slightly outdated but staff tries to keep it in a good condition. My only issue with the room was water pressure in a shower, it was non existent. It was a real challenge to wash all the sand off. The breakfast lady is great, very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The reception staff rather distant and hard to find. Property has a great location and has its own parking which helps as the town has almost no parking spaces. It is also super close to the beach.

We had a twin - room 15. Awful smell in room. Like old cheese and wet dog? We had to go out and buy some air freshener. Luckily the windows open wide so we could get some ventilation. No wifi. Apparently out for a week. Not told before arrival. Beds were uncomfortable and could feel the springs through the mattress. Shower was not powerful - like a weak hosepipe pressure. Toilet took a long time to refill so we couldn’t flush it if one of us wanted to use the toilet within an hour of each other. Room was spacious. Parking was great; good location central in town, but there are much better places to stay in Newquay and we wouldn’t return unfortunately.

The hotel has a convenient location, excellent free parking. The staff were sociable, helpful and polite. The hotel gives you everything that you need including a fabulous cooked breakfast. This is not The Ritz but it doesn't claim to be. The Griffin is a good, honest value for money hotel and I'd recommend it to anyone.

To start with the photo did not reflect the actual situation of the hotel which was on the busy Newquay main road. The room was tiny a very small space to safely move around also had inadequate lightinh, it was either full on or pitch black at night. The bathroom I believe woukd not have passed health and safety standards due to the shower being dangerously small to get in and out of, we are normal size not obese but struggled using it. Also toilet seat hanging off almost. The restaurant food was very average not good or bad just what you would expect from a below average hotel. The majority of the sraff were friendly except the evening bar person who was bordrrline rude. No wifi for all of the trip even though it was advertised as useable and free. All in all tge worst hotel we have ever used in our many trips to Cornwall.

All was just ok, decor quite dated and water pressure awful. Could have done with a fan in the room as also v warm. Location however is fantastic and free parking a bonus in the centre of Newquay.

Stayed 5 nights. There is a hole in the ceiling above the shower around the light that doesnt work and it isnt pleasant. The staff were lovely, breakfast was nice and a great location. The ladies on service in the mornings were so nice! Overall a good place to stay.

The mattress in our room 8 was hard with the springs coming through..the pillows were also hard and when we asked for softer pillows were told thats all they had,we went to the asda over the road and bought our own..The shower had poor water pressure with a tiny shower head,there was also missing and mouldy sealant around shower base...the toilet didn't flush properly taken up to 3 flushes to clear..mould around bedroom windows which hadn't been cleaned for quite a while...wont be rushing back

Disappointed with the room with, some might thing trivial things, but to me important. No bedside light - irritating having to get up when you turn off the lights at night. No phone, even to reception. No net curtain (room 12) on window looking directly into the Travelodge. I could see into their rooms, so they must have been able to see into mine. Shower did not drain very quickly, which meant always soap scum left in a puddle. The staff and welcome were excellent and very friendly.

Room was ok however the noise from the external kitchen fan was terrible, was advised on arrival there I would hear some slight noise but would be off by 9.00 had to leave room due to the noise and the smell wasn’t the best, having a room right next to an external wall fan not the best also had to ask for the fan to be turned off. Not a place I would stay myself again…

Firstly, all the staff were really friendly and very helpful, cannot fault them! However, the room was very warm, possibly i think due to it being above the kitchen? Opening the window obviously then meant we could hear traffic, not the end of the world, we knew it was on the side of the road, but what we weren't prepared for, especially on a Sunday evening, was listening to everyone in Weatherspoons across the road til gone midnight! We gave in and shut the windows but made for a very warm night. The water pressure in the shower was very low, and the lid on the kettle wouldn't stay shut. That said, the room was clean, comfy and simply decorated. Would we stay again? Possibly, but would definitely request a bedroom at thd rear of the building and not roadside.

When we arrived (at 8:30am - after a very early morning flight ) our best hope was to have breakfast and deposit our bags at reception - so you can imagine our delight when Kat (manager) arranged an early check in for us. We were so grateful. The room was spacious and comfy and facing the road - and despite reading reviews about noise, we found the stay very peaceful. We had breakfast and one evening meal there and both were good. The staff in the bar and restaurant are very friendly and helpful. The outside facade looks a little tired - but don’t be put off - it’s an ideal Location - close to everything - with lovely friendly service and super comfy rooms. We will definitely stay here again.

To start with the photo did not reflect the actual situation of the hotel which was on the busy Newquay main road. The room was tiny a very small space to safely move around also had inadequate lightinh, it was either full on or pitch black at night. The bathroom I believe woukd not have passed health and safety standards due to the shower being dangerously small to get in and out of, we are normal size not obese but struggled using it. Also toilet seat hanging off almost. The restaurant food was very average not good or bad just what you would expect from a below average hotel. The majority of the sraff were friendly except the evening bar person who was bordrrline rude. No wifi for all of the trip even though it was advertised as useable and free. All in all tge worst hotel we have ever used in our many trips to Cornwall.

The Griffin is very central. Outside seating area is great to sit and watch the world go by. Serves food which is nice. My twin room was clean. Beds comfortable. Can be noisy I expect if your room is at the front. I was lucky. It was quiet because of the windy weather. My car was splattered with gull poo, but it's a sea side resort so gulls are are part of the experience.

Lots to mention really. Not idea for families or people that want an early night or a lie in. The Wetherspoons across the road is open till 1am and opens 9am so it’s noisy and the room was warm so having the windows open caused a lot of noise and road noise. The room was clean and the staff are helpful. The mattress wasn’t the best and we could feel the springs and my partner has awful nights sleeps. It’s rated 3star and I would agree and it wasn’t expensive for a weekend so it’s all relative really. Has parking which is bonus in Newquay and handy walking distance to everything.

Central location in Newquay for pubs shops and beach..... Age has affected the rooms but for the price including breakfast(which was spot on ) one cannot argue. Staff extremely friendly only small gripe... We were in front facing room fairly noisy at closing time..... Free parking on site... So will definitely return

Staff were lovely. No buffet table at breakfast, very limited options at breakfast, I declined the instant coffee and no real coffee was offered. Bathroom very tired looking with missing sealant in and around shower cubicle, extremely poor quality toilet paper.

My wife and I had a wonderful, pleasant three-nights stay here at Griffin Newquay. Staff are always helpful and available to tender to your needs. Food and drinks are at an exceptional standard with a wide range of choice, including a daily Specials Menu and a Sunday Carvery. (Best to book in advance for a Sunday Carvery.) You can also include a daily breakfast within your stay, or book it separately, with a wide variety of breakfast to choose, from cereal, to a full English Breakfast. Griffin Newquay is very popular in the local area and dog friendly. Seating is plentiful and not too close together, giving you your own space. Every room has an en-suite, there is also parking available. My wife and I will definitely stay here again.

This is fine for a central location with parking, the hotel is dated and the rooms are far too hot, no fans in the room, the shower did not run cold and very noisy on front of building as there is a late night pub venue across the road. Breakfast was adequate. Would stay again in a pinch only.

Not as good customer service as normal with regards to checking in and sloppy attention to detail. Confirmed by phone and in app and booked a dog friendly room with two beds as travelling with a friend. When checking in discovered the family room I booked was relocated and we were given a double. Luckily a twin room was found. Other than that a nice stay.
