Spacious, clean room with great amenities! Coffee/tea station was well stocked, good iron, fan to cool the room as it was a little hot, and television. Breakfast was great, nice selection of hot and cold. Used a parking space during the stay - very convenient. Staff all very friendly and accommodating. Only negative was on my first night there was some works being done outside on the adjacent property, quite early in the morning, which disrupted my sleep/rest. Location was great, I walked into the town centre each time (around 25mins) but there are also buses. Lots of books and board games for those interested. WiFi was very fast. Would stay here again for any type of trip in Oxford!

Nice quiet location. Parking was tight with only 5 spots (barely), room was dated but clean. Continental breakfast was good and restocked quickly.

Attending a 2 day educational course in Oxford. Friendly and efficient welcome, although I was taken to the wrong room initially (!) Everything was spotless and comfortable. Good coffee machine in the room, excellent ensuite and toiletries. No air-conditioning but electric fan was in the room. Parking on site was a big plus. Beautiful garden and plenty of seating. Negatives: the reception was locked from 6pm with no access to the breakast area reached through it until 0800, which was too late for me to have any breakfast before I had to leave for my course. Although I was told that I could collect some cold items, I didn’t get the opportunity to do so before 6pm, due to trying to connect to wifi, and therefore missed out on the hotel breakfast. Wifi did not work for my phone at all, and did not work for the TV on day 2 either. Router issue maybe? The hotel is a thick walled old building, and signal was often intermittent. It would help a lot if the breakfast room was accessible without needing to go through reception!! Second morning I didn’t have to leave as early. Excellent breakfast options, helpful staff member, and was able to leave my car there during my course after checking out.

We stayed overnight at St Margaret's Hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had the family room. It was very spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable. For breakfast we a good mix of cereals, toast and English breakfast. You have parking for 5 cars, but you can park on the street with a permit. The hotel is just 3 bus stops away from Oxford city centre and is very convenient. You could even walk in. Overall, we would return here if visiting Oxford again.

Lovely hotel in a quiet residential area with Oxford town centre about 30 minute walk away. Staff very friendly & helpful, car park not overly big but hotel will do a parking permit so you can park on the road opposite. Breakfast was very good, plenty of selection & as weather was good we sat in the garden, so quiet, definitely recommend this hotel.

The location is prime for our visit. Walkable to everywhere in central Oxford, the colleges as well as Summertown. Perhaps the lack of elevator may be a caveat for some visitors but we are fine with stairs!

Nice building, great location, nice large room, quiet. Good off-road parking. Some nice touches (board games, books, maps available)However, amenities/furnishings were cheap, tacky and partially faulty (technical issues, plumbing problems and other things not attended to during our stay). Staff were friendly and helpful but seemed amateur. Overall, the impression is that costs are being squeezed, and/or management is satisfied with the level presented. Service was haphazard and room was not thoroughly cleaned. OK stay but even at the relatively reasonable rate we (and, I suspect, others) will not return. A shame, because the property has real potential.

A superb little hotel. Spotlessly clean. We had to remove the room “aromatiser” are they called - something scented with sticks coming out - far too strong and completely unnecessary but open windows and fresh air cleared the smell. Helpful, friendly staff. Great breakfasts: wide variety and with apples fresh from the garden in September. 15 minutes walk into Oxford through the beautiful University Parks and onto Parks Rd, calling in at the Natural History Museum en route. Cheap taxis as well (001 Taxis charged us £6.50 in Sept 2025). Had a great few days re-visiting my old university haunts, made even better by this wonderful hotel. We hope to be back! The only draw back is no lift and the second flight of stairs are steep and narrow…

The hotel is in a nice neighborhood opposite St. Hugh’s college, and it’s actually on the hop-on bus route through the city. This makes it very convenient for a visit of a day or two. My room was small but clean and comfortable. As usual, you have to hunt for an available outlet to charge your devices, but there was one free. The breakfast had something for everyone. It had nice hot choices, plus a good choice of cereals and yogurt, plus first-rate coffee. You can walk to the city centre in about fifteen minutes. It’s easy to find via satnav, and if the car park is full, staff will issue you a parking pass for street parking.

Liked: It's a beautiful old house in a lovely/posh road in North Oxford with parking so very convenient. The bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly. Disliked: shower wouldn't stay in the holder so had to hold it myself and the bathroom floor tiles and shower curtain were really grotty with hairs on the bathroom floor. The breakfast was ok but the coffee machine seemed to produce cold coffee and the staff were not replenishing supplies (I noticed that guests arriving in for breakfast later than me did not have access to croissants or orange juice as both had gone by the time they arrived). Shame as the building and stained glass windows are beautiful.

This room was HUGE and the beds were super comfy. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner but overall a great place. The wall onto the center of Oxford took about 20 minutes but was flat and east. There is also a conveniently located bus stop. Breakfast was not “bed and breakfast” quality but it was fine.

Quiet and very comfortable hotel in North Oxford - clean/modern bathroom, tea/coffee making facilities, and a good night's sleep - staff are always very friendly and helpful. Have stayed a few times here, and I would certainly return again.

Although the building has been around for a long time, like many buildings in Oxford, the remodeling has made the guest rooms feel modern. A bit further away from city center than other options, but the distance is what makes the neighborhood quiet. This place also comes with a very nice backyard garden.

Nice hotel but third bed for child on the floor was like sleeping on a piece of plywood. Could definitely use with getting an actual mattress instead of a down pad.

Staff was very accommodating. Room was comfy and warm. Not updated to look modern but instead retains its ambience. Breakfast was very nice. Walking distance to central Oxford. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I stayed in St. Margaret's Hotel for 7 nights as I was attending a course in Oxford. It is in a quiet, clean and pleasant area which is just a 20-minute walk into the city centre. I had a single room which I found just the right size for my needs and the bed and room itself were very comfortable. The only thing that was a little unhelpful was the 8am start time for breakfast. which meant I didn't have a lot of time before leaving for my course. However, breakfast is taken in a lovely conservatory or in the garden which is a lovely way to start the day.

We had a wonderful stay here. A very nice room, with walkable location and a marvelous breakfast too! The only demerit is the bed which was sagging quite a bit and needs to be replaced. Otherwise, it was a delightful stay for our family of 3.

The property was a good location for walking around. Breakfast was nice in the morning. Be mindful the property has no air conditioning, so our room was warm and they expected us to sleep with the windows open on the 1st floor with no screens on the windows.
The property was a good location for walking around. Breakfast was nice in the morning. Be mindful the property has no air conditioning, so our room was warm and they expected us to sleep with the windows open on the 1st floor with no screens on the windows.

We let reception know we were arriving ahead of check in and when we arrived our room was all ready. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was super comfortable. Although limited time on reception, the staff were so friendly, welcoming and efficient. The breakfast was lovely too. We'd recommend this hotel whole heartedly and would stay there again. Thank you to ALL the staff.

Attending a 2 day educational course in Oxford. Friendly and efficient welcome, although I was taken to the wrong room initially (!) Everything was spotless and comfortable. Good coffee machine in the room, excellent ensuite and toiletries. No air-conditioning but electric fan was in the room. Parking on site was a big plus. Beautiful garden and plenty of seating. Negatives: the reception was locked from 6pm with no access to the breakast area reached through it until 0800, which was too late for me to have any breakfast before I had to leave for my course. Although I was told that I could collect some cold items, I didn’t get the opportunity to do so before 6pm, due to trying to connect to wifi, and therefore missed out on the hotel breakfast. Wifi did not work for my phone at all, and did not work for the TV on day 2 either. Router issue maybe? The hotel is a thick walled old building, and signal was often intermittent. It would help a lot if the breakfast room was accessible without needing to go through reception!! Second morning I didn’t have to leave as early. Excellent breakfast options, helpful staff member, and was able to leave my car there during my course after checking out.

My stay was amazing. It was brief, but wonderful. Spent time at the Ashmoleum Museum and then settled in at St. Margaret’s Hotel. The gentleman who checked me in was helpful with recommendations for where to get dinner. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was lovely, and I was able to meet and chat with other guests. Thank you for hosting such a pleasant stay.

Staff helpful in carrying our bags to the top floor. Also helped figure out my rental car GPS. Loved the neighborhood and walkable distance to city center. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Quiet and very comfortable hotel in North Oxford - clean/modern bathroom, tea/coffee making facilities, and a good night's sleep - staff are always very friendly and helpful. Have stayed a few times here, and I would certainly return again.

Nice building, great location, nice large room, quiet. Good off-road parking. Some nice touches (board games, books, maps available)However, amenities/furnishings were cheap, tacky and partially faulty (technical issues, plumbing problems and other things not attended to during our stay). Staff were friendly and helpful but seemed amateur. Overall, the impression is that costs are being squeezed, and/or management is satisfied with the level presented. Service was haphazard and room was not thoroughly cleaned. OK stay but even at the relatively reasonable rate we (and, I suspect, others) will not return. A shame, because the property has real potential.

Spacious, clean room with great amenities! Coffee/tea station was well stocked, good iron, fan to cool the room as it was a little hot, and television. Breakfast was great, nice selection of hot and cold. Used a parking space during the stay - very convenient. Staff all very friendly and accommodating. Only negative was on my first night there was some works being done outside on the adjacent property, quite early in the morning, which disrupted my sleep/rest. Location was great, I walked into the town centre each time (around 25mins) but there are also buses. Lots of books and board games for those interested. WiFi was very fast. Would stay here again for any type of trip in Oxford!

Staff was very accommodating. Room was comfy and warm. Not updated to look modern but instead retains its ambience. Breakfast was very nice. Walking distance to central Oxford. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Lovely hotel in a quiet residential area with Oxford town centre about 30 minute walk away. Staff very friendly & helpful, car park not overly big but hotel will do a parking permit so you can park on the road opposite. Breakfast was very good, plenty of selection & as weather was good we sat in the garden, so quiet, definitely recommend this hotel.

Beautifully maintained older home. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. It was situated between Summertown and the city centre, and about 15 minutes walk to both. We arrived after 6:00 but instructions were sent for easy entry. The room was unlocked and keys left on the bed, with necessary information. It was too cold to eat breakfast outside but garden looked lovely for warmer weather. Would be happy to stay here again.

Nice clean and relaxing hotel within walking distance to city centre but bus service is very frequent for people who choose not to walk as good 15 mins staff were very helpful breakfast was ok coffee machine was not to clever as like nice cup coffee in morning also was no tomatoes left for breakfast other wise very nice stay as lovely property close to pub and restrant

Surprisingly roomy and modern. Garden was lovely for birdwatching. Breakfast room and in room treats were very generous, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Only about 20-25 minute walk to the city center, and a few pubs and stores also within a couple of blocks. Short stay so we didn’t use the busses but seemed very convenient .

An excellent one night stay at this little gem of a hotel, situated within walking distance of Oxford's city centre and with free parking. Some nice little touches such as complimentary chilled drinks and nibbles was a nice touch. If I was going to be picky, the cooked breakfast buffet could have been warmer and the breakfast coffee machine had a mind of its own. Will be returning on my next trip to Oxford.

A very nice small hotel which we have used 3 times in the last year. Comfortable, clean and warm, what more can you ask. Breakfast could be slightly improved for vegetarians, but it is adequate. The scrambled egg does not benefit from being kept warm, it needs to be cooked fresh. We hope to return

A superb little hotel. Spotlessly clean. We had to remove the room “aromatiser” are they called - something scented with sticks coming out - far too strong and completely unnecessary but open windows and fresh air cleared the smell. Helpful, friendly staff. Great breakfasts: wide variety and with apples fresh from the garden in September. 15 minutes walk into Oxford through the beautiful University Parks and onto Parks Rd, calling in at the Natural History Museum en route. Cheap taxis as well (001 Taxis charged us £6.50 in Sept 2025). Had a great few days re-visiting my old university haunts, made even better by this wonderful hotel. We hope to be back! The only draw back is no lift and the second flight of stairs are steep and narrow…

Our room was really lovely decor, clean and well equipped, even had a little fridge! Staff were very helpful and friendly, hotel is about 25 minute walk from city centre , but there are bus-stops nearby with frequent buses. The only slight downside was the cooked part of the breakfast which wasn’t very hot, but as we were only staying for one night it wasn’t worth moaning about. We would definitely stay there again.

We were completely surprised by the unbelievable heat in Oxford/England. The hotel has no A/C - so the sleeping was brutal in any room. We were in the front of the hotel (no rooms to change to) that faced the sun all day - so it was terrible!! We did get a second small fan which was appreciated, but there was no escaping the heat! Be sure to factor this in when booking this hotel in the summer months!! Breakfast was good, but it was set up in a glassed in room and the fruit and pastries were just melting in the heat! Another set up should have been considered - given the unbearable heat.
