High Bank Hotel

We drove up the big hill to the hotel which was lovely and the room was basic but clean and had a great bathroom- no one bothered us at all and they had a swing outside which really made it for us as we are smokers. Thoroughly recommend and will be back

On arrival the parking area was full of litter . On entry to a big house I checked in which was fine . Made my way up 3 steep set of stairs to a small attic room . Supposed to be a delux single room . Nothing delux about it bar it had an ensuite shower and toilet which had turning space only . Very small , no use for larger people . Other rooms are shared toilets . Dirty carpets on the stairs as it is a free gravel carpark which needs work done , as in tarred. Single metal frame bed ok but not suitable for a hotel bed . The room was very small and needed a proper clean . Dust and hairs at boxing in at the side of the bed. Sheets need boil clean as had marks on them . Only booked 2 nights as I was working Nightshift . This is only a room in a big house that calls itself a hotel which it is not. It has potential but the owners need to spend money on it . Not for me I am afraid so I won’t be back .

When I entered the room, a dirty cup with lipstick marks on the side table welcomed me. The towels what stained. The parking facilities were insufficient for the capacity of the hotel. One night, we needed to park on the side of the road outside of the hotel car park. For two nights I paid £200, way too expensive for what I have got. Generally not great experience.

The hotel signage is hidden by the bush the way we came so missed the turning in. Kurb appeal was shocking. Broken swing chair in what's meant to be a garden. Rubbish everywhere. Broken and missing patio stones. Carpets all round the property were dirty and unsafe. On our floor they were different shades of grey, not matching or tacked down properly. Stairway going up to our room were dirty, handrails and wall edging Long black hair in our bed. Disgusting. Checking out. See clean towels and sheets on floor for next guests. Not worth the price. Stayed in better places cheaper and breakfast is included. Having used one of the toilets when we arrived the pullie in there is dirty to a point. Needs washing. Signage inside the place that meant to be a 'hotel' is paper stuck on the walls, umm ok. Room was lovely but few things broken, caps missing and roasting hot, yet radiator wasn't on ever. Sharp edged bedside table inches away from the bed. One cup to share. We had to ask for another. Massive fixing and finishing job day needed for this to ever be a good place to stay.

I have never felt less safe in my life and I'm 6"1 180lbs Male who does Thai boxing. The C word is spray painted in big letters on the carpark wall, broken wooden crates on the carpark, a lamppost completely pulled out of the ground. The guy checking me in was actually a really nice guy but needed to scan my licence and credit card which I've never had to do for a hotel in my life. I mean this with the greatest of respect to homeless people but This does feel more like somewhere to help people get off the streets for the night. 1 toilet and 1 shower between 5 -10 seperate rooms is wild - this is the "shared bathroom" I didn't even stay the night and left after 30mins as a group of guys who were talking like they regularly stay there were staring and pointing at my car. Lesson learned anything under £80 per night in Leeds is a risk. I have not been refunded for the room either

Hotel as advertised by the name situated in its own grounds driveway is a steep gradient. Bannister for steps from driveway to front patio worse than useless and in serious need of repair. DISABLED ACCESS NON-EXISTENT. Price was very reasonable hence the 4 stars.

Stayed 2 nights in single room with shared bathroom. Very basic but sufficient room for my needs.Shared bathroom close to my room. Shower very hot and couldn't seem to reduce the temperature. Main issue was check in ...they wanted photo ID proof. This wasn't mentioned in check procedure, luckily l had an ID badge through work but a couple checking in at same time didn't and we're told it policy that they couldn't stay without Photo ID ...not sure if they got a refund .. probably not

Smelly toilet and unfinished works , drains not working properly in shower room .. people smoke at from of the reception door many rubbish at the back

Great location opposite a lovely park and with view of city in distance. Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. Place needed a bit of TLC - litter in car park, broken mirror and shower wasn’t brilliant.

Was a quick last minute stay unplanned cheap !! Room was in need. Of a deep clean was sneezing from the dust was thick on top of wardrobe and skirting boards carpet was in need of deep cleaning smelt like leak & damp moved bed hadn’t been hovered. ! Bed was to small for my 6’4 self bathroom needed deep cleaning also damp around windows and tiles mould was told charging option available as never had plug 🔌 with me just cable had to move room around so could work on phone while charging from tv at other side of room if done a heat test that bed would of been full of bugs. Staff where very nice tho

Good price, poor cleanliness, work in progress hotel. Towels were moist when we entered the room, stains on bedding and tap had intermittent hot water.

Room is not clean. Very dirty. Beds are not comfortable. Bathroom isn’t clean. Blocked sink. Way to the room is very dark. And not clean.

Absolutely disgusting. The whole place was run down, dirty, the grounds outside are dilapidated, overgrown and broken. The place inside smells fusty, unclean and grimy. The room was abismal, undecorated, wardrobe door was half hanging off. There was 1 toilet and shower shared between 12+ rooms which was not stated on the booking confirmation. There was mould on the table and draws. The carpets throughout have clearly never been cleaned. Patch work everywhere. In the toilet there was a used plaster on the floor. There were brown marks on the bedding. When I was checking in, another couple turned up at the same time, the person on reception started trying to check us both in at the same time… This place is more like a hostel than a hotel and even then that’s giving the place more character than it deserves. 10 minutes after being shown my room, I had booked a hotel else where and left, there was no way I was staying there any longer and I certainly wasn’t sleeping there.

A coffee sachet had been opened and left in the bowl, and the toilet smelled bad. Additionally, their terms and conditions require photocopying your ID and credit card, which I have never encountered before. I will never stay at this hotel again—I personally don’t think this place should even be considered a hotel.

It had not been made clear that I’d need photo ID in order to check in. The bed was very squeaky (metal frame) and there was a strong smell of damp coming from the shower room because the extractor didn’t work. Otherwise, the staff were extremely pleasant and it was a very quiet place to stay.

I booked an ensuite room but when I got to the hotel they said therewas some issues bcoz apparently the room they nooked for me is occupied by someone else so they have to give me a double room which apparently cost £100. When I got to the room (which is on the ground floor closed to reception and pantry) the bed was very small as a double bed. The duvet and pillows feels so old and soggy and thin. The bathroom toilet has some old pee tha's already discoloured from being left there for a while. When I used the sink it was clogged. I alarmed to wake up at 9am but I was already awoke around 6:38 as I can hear the staff from the pantryor kitchen talking to each loud.I cchecked out at 9:30 and told the lady in the reception about the issues

Room was spacious and warm, the bed was comfy, the only thing was the toilet was wonky and towels were really small

The chrapest place i could find and the epitome of "you get what you pat for" Staff were rude, you could hear right through the walls and the communal areas were tatty and exhausted. I don\'t usually leave reviews but this place was not somewhere i would recommend to anyone

Cheap and cheerful. No wifi for the room I stayed in. Staff said it was down but wifi picked up in other areas of the hotel

It was run down,but it is being renovated at the moment.I feel sure once all renovations are completed,it will come into its own!

Nothing bad to say. Room was tidy and clean few little niggles wire near the bed for aerial was hanging down but nothing I could complain about as a single room for the night. Nice that it was staffed all night and no noise issues. Excellent service in my opinion.

Well organised. Very pleasant staff and well priced will be using again that’s for certain

Awful hotel. At check in the lady at reception demanded photo ID. We had none & almost didnt get our room. We had the reciept & proof of payment but this was not enough. Looked through photos & found one of my old passport. This still wasnt good enough & had to produce my card details. We dont carry cards so managed to find full details on the banks app. Didn't feel comfortable giving the details & didnt see why she needed it as i had payed with another card. I had asked for the manager & spoke to him on the phone but he still hadnt appeared by the time we got into the room 45 minutes later. Fuming by this time. Room was no better & the whole hotel was tatty to say the least. Thred bare carpets on the way up to the room & a broken drawer left in the corner of the room, couldnt find a remote for the TV & the batroom was tiny. Very disappointed

Good location for access to Headingly.

A nice clean room, could have done with a bedside lamp. Particularly squeaky bed but comfortable enough. About £10 taxi ride from the city centre, no local facilities but a pleasant enough local area.

Bed comfortable but small room .. limited dining areas

It was good enough as long as you don't want breakfast as they had the area too do it but didn't, so if you're just after a room only its not bad, i would recommend going with an ensuit bathroom though as the shared facilities wasn't up to standard but mine was clean and had what i needed for an overnight stay

It was a very clean comfy room however it would have been ideal if breakfast was included. More chairs and tables in the garden might be a good idea 🙂
