Hotel The Villa - Long Island City

I had to leave after the first night (had booked 4 nights) bc it was a really run down room not like the photos. The door key wouldn’t work so i had to continuously go down to the lobby from the 8th floor, eventually needing a master key to get me into the room, and the elevator didn’t work half the time. They have since refused to refund me the 3 nights I didn’t stay there even though it was a nightmare to stay seeing as I couldn’t freely access my room.

Basic clean room, nice size. Free WiFi. Tub with shower head. Mini fridge in room, and microwave and ice maker, along with vending machines, available on floor “C, along with tables available to use for meals and snacks Staff extremely courteous. 20 minute walk from Queensbridge F train station and 20 minutes from Queensboro 7 train.

Facility was clean but area around wasn’t, and there were no parking available

front desk gal was very sweet quick to get me checked in lobby my room & shared facilities were very clean daily room service provided (refresh of towels/ soap they make your bed/tidy the room) hotel is only a seven minute walk from the 21st st queensbridge station so very convenient the surrounding neighborhood is kinda sketch at night can get a little scary during the day it’s chill aside from that the very few cons/“complaints” I’d really have wish check in was flexible instead of being just at 3 my flight arrived in the morning so I basically had to linger around the not so great neighborhood with all my luggage till check in in the afternoon the outlet in the bathroom didn’t work so I had to do my hair by the floor outlets in my room telephone didn’t work either so I had to go downstairs to talk to staff television didn’t work either I tried the remote & manually pressing the buttons on the tv but couldn’t get it on which wasn’t too big of a deal cause I came on holiday not to watch tv but it would’ve been nice for the occasional news channel (especially during 9/11) the lunch room with microwaves vending machines & ice maker was a little hidden only way to know about it was a little sticker on the elevator the drinks vending machine wasn’t working for bills but there is a few convenience stores around the corner if you need drinks/snacks/goods did randomly have an issue with my keycard went downstairs and they fixed it very quickly would book again

Hotel was ok. No parking.

Lady at the front desk was extremely helpful and pleasant. Check in was easy and fast. No designated parking area, however there is some street parking available.

It was very nice and clean. However the vendining machines were very lacking and the Ice machine didn't work at all.

Rooms were clean/modern. Was equipped with a mini fridge and Roku as entertainment. Staff was friendly and location was perfect. Close walk to 21st and Queensbridge metro station.

The room wasn’t cleaned properly upon my arrival to the hotel, there was hair on the towels, the bed sheets and pillows, the floor and on the bathroom surfaces. Bed sheets were stained. Told staff would gave me some fresh sheet to change the bedding myself, but the sheets were stained and ripped. The room was freezing cold and the heater only provided Luke warm air. Not a very nice stay

The neighbourhood is not the greatest, the hotel is nice, clean and new, but the water in the shower is just warm, and not hot, the staff is friendly but lacks on the attention to cleaning details- we found hairs in the towels and there was not enough shampoo/ body wash in the bathroom.

The room was spotless and the lady at front desk was very polite and helpful

The property was not clean, dirty floors, hair on bedspread and in shower. They’re website says toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) are provided - they’re not, there was about 3 oz of shampoo in packets available, one small bar of hand soap, no extra towels, only 2 pillows for a king bed. The entire building has a slight smell of marijuana and the elevator is out of service. Had issues with the keycard, wasn’t working, wasn’t asked to provide ID to receive a new one. Very poor experience.

Bed cover had holes in it room was freezing took all night to warm up I got in the room 2:30am left at 10:30 room was still cold wasn’t completely warm yet still no soap for the shower and hallways smelled like cigarettes all old tv channels on the tv nothing updated or at least close everything was from the 1980s and 1990s

Everything was clean, the staff was very kind, the showers had hot water and good pressure, the wifi was fast. Can't complain

The floors are absolutely disgusting. The towels always have hair on them that isn’t yours. All my socks turned black when stepping on their floors. They only take cash so be prepared to use their atm to get cash. They are terrible with refunds. I literally just wanted my money back for a service I didn’t get and they didn’t give it to me back. There is a huge language barrier with staff which isn’t a bad thing at all it’s just hard when trying to get services done.

The room was cold upon entering. It took like 20-30 min to hear up. The towels and wash rags were dingy and one of them had blood stains.

The only complaint is that the mattress on the bed still had the plastic on and it was near impossible to sleep. You can hear and feel the plastic on the bed. Very uncomfortable.

The room was very clean, the beds comfortable, and it had a good sized bathroom. It did have a small refrigerator. it was very close to the subway, and it was very reasonable in price! However, the room had no plastic cups for water, no cups for hot water, no microwave and very few hangers (we were there for 5 nights). It had only one bed side table and reading light (and we had two beds). And only one trash can in the bathroom. It felt very bare bones! Of they fox these things, it would make rhe room much better!

The AC wasn’t turning on; otherwise, it was very spacious, and clean. The bathroom is luxurious.

I stayed here for four nights in January. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. For 3 out of the 4 nights, there was no hot water in the shower. In the middle of an NYC winter, taking cold/lukewarm showers is unacceptable. Despite notifying the front desk, the issue was not resolved in a timely manner. While the location was good (we were in Long Island City right near Queens), staff did not offer any support beyond telling us to keep running water (which we did every night). Especially in the winter, a proper functioning shower (with at least warm water is a basic requirement. I expected much better for the price and for this level of hotel. I cannot recommend this hotel to others traveling during winter months.

Sweet staff and clean room and amenities. Only complaint was the size of the hotel room but it’s New York so you get why you get for the cost

Hotel the Villa is one of the most economical hotels in the Manhattan/Queens area. Unfortunately, the area between the metro stop and the hotel feels a bit unsafe at night with quite a few homeless people. That being said, no one bothered us during our stay. From the metro stop, a person needs to walk through Queensbridge Housing project, where there was a visible police presence, so we felt safe enough. The hotel room is sparsely furnished. There is only one nightstand and one chair. The room is also quite dark with only two lights, one above the nightstand and one near the entrance. The room has a refrigerator. There is no microwave in the room, but there are several available on floor C, which is in the basement. The major annoyance with the lack of hot water. The water from the sink is hot enough, but the water is in the shower was not warm enough for a comfortable shower.

Was originally sceptical about this hotel given some of the reviews, however was impressed by the price given the easy and quick transport to manhattan so booked it - and i would absolutely book this hotel again. I came with my boyfriend for 4 nights on a christmas trip to New York and this hotel was the perfect base for us. It is less than a 10 minute walk from the subway station and 1 stop on the M or F train to Roosevelt island and just 10 minutes to Times Square - even less to Central Park, 5th ave, etc. There are reviews mentioning the area being unsafe, and whilst I can’t say it was necessarily a ‘nice area’ - there was a few homeless people, interesting characters and a strong smell of weed almost everywhere, neither me or my boyfriend felt uncomfortable or unsafe at all. There is also quite a few options for food nearby. All the staff we spoke to were kind and helpful and the room was nice, clean, and had a surprisingly great view. Something I really appreciated was the number of power outlets in the room, there was even a usb-c port on the bedside table ! Small things to note : none of these bothered us but the mattress had a plastic covering on it which did make noise and the sheet was very thin (however there was ac and heating which worked very well so wasn’t cold) also they do charge $20 to store baggage after checking out. Overall, very good hotel for the price, location and quality.

Loud noise at 7 am

Air conditioning was fine. The room was on the small side but was fine due to the limited time I was there. The plastic around the mattress made it very noisy when moving. It was very noisy. Their was construction going on at the end of the block.

Had a great stay! Special thanks to Ashraf, his service was excellent and he was extremely helpful throughout our visit. Really appreciated the warm and professional hospitality.

The room, towels, and sheets were full of hair. The elevator was extremely dirty — covered in fingerprints, dust, and grease — it clearly hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. The front desk staff were very unprofessional; the person who checked us in didn’t even activate our room key and didn’t know how to use the card terminal. When we checked out, we asked to store our luggage, and they charged us $20 USD with no receipt, was CASH ONLY and didn’t even label the suitcase. Really unacceptable.

Changed my room the second day. The 2nd room had horrible AC that wouldn't keep the room cool. Light poored into the room all night long because the blackout curtains were garbage. There was trash in both rooms when we got in them. The front desk employee overnight was horrible. The room had a king size bed and came with 2 little bity pillows for 2 people. When I asked for an additional pillow I was told to wait 5 to 10 minutes. Waited 20 and called to say nevermind and the employee told me 3 times he would be up in 5 minutes. When he arrived 15 minutes later he brought me a towel? The day workers argued with eachother so much it was uncomfortable to watch. The boy day employee was loudly talking badly about the cleaning staff. Broken vending machine in the creepy basment with all the broken hotel equipment laying all over. Dirty towels, no fitted sheet, some cheap fleece blanket, and plastic sheet covers made for a roughhh week. Also the area is VERYYY sketchy. The walk to the train takes you though one of the worst parts of NYC I think I have ever seen. Absolutely would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Terrible. Someone checked me out of my room before Check out, signed for me and everything. That’s gotta be illegal. Then they kept my license and refused to send it back. Never staying here again. The guy at the front desk sucks at his job. Don’t stay here if you don’t have to. The rooms are nice tho.

The staff at the desk charged me $80 for early check in - “cash only”, and refused to provide a receipt. I was on business travel and now this is a personal expense for me. Very sad to see a practice like this in America. I’d never go to this place again.

Walls were paper thin, I was on 1st floor and could hear everything happening outside and in the lobby as well as the elevator dinging at all hours of the night. Once, I was woken up at 5am by a couple arguing loudly. The hotel is in a sketchy area near the projects so it felt unsafe walking to and from subway. The blowdryer was broken so I had to be let in to another room to dry my hair. Requests for an extra blanket, pillow and iron were not handled in a timely manner. There is no phone in the room to call reception. Got stuck in elevator twice, once with the manager who laughed it off. It wasn’t a pleasant stay and I would not stay there again.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in in Long Island City, just 2 subway stops from Manhattan. Nice size room with a great bathroom. Very clean. Great value. Area around hotel is a little rugged though no one bothered us even at night. Very limited dining options nearby except for chains. Staff charged $20 to store luggage before checkin or after checkout. I will stay at hotel again.

Everything was fine except for location…. It’s not safe and nice. Parking situation is not good at all

Close to F train. Area is economically disadvantaged. Some may feel concerned about safety at times.

The area around the hotel seems somewhat industrial. You will notice this more if you are walking from the F subway line to the hotel. But this hotel is fine.

Good if you’re desperate for a place to sleep. Really rough area of Queens. The bedding is decent but the floor could use a good mopping. The cleaning ladies are banging and clanging at 7am making it hard to sleep in. The area around the property isn’t good, it’s run down and it’s a far walk to the metro station. Stayed for one night and got an air bnb instead of extending my stay.

Good for a cheap and short day (we stayed one night). Very few in room amenities besides an air conditioner, ice bucket, tv, iron, hair dryer, shampoo & conditioner, soap and a few hangers. We ordered food which was conveniently delivered to our room. It didn’t come with utensils. We had to walk to the nearest open bodega to get some because the front desk didn’t have which was inconvenient. Cheap but relatively clean stay, would stay here again. It’s about a 10 min walk to the F train.

Nice hotel for the price. Access to food options in the area are decent, and access to the metro by a 5 minute walk is great. Would book again if on a budget.

Fridge in room! (This is great for insulin users) Very clean. Not a lot of options nearby for food, toilet paper (they will not give you another roll!), etc. but Seamless delivers there. A ouple of crazy overpriced and understocked vending machines downstairs but there are tables there where you can eat your own food, & a microwave. Good value overall, would stay again.

Tiny room for resting in between trips into the city. No amenities to speak of, but there's a 24hr minimart at the end of the block. Clean and modern.

It was very nice and clean. However the vendining machines were very lacking and the Ice machine didn't work at all.

Room & bath very clean & decor has been refreshed. There was no option for coffee or bottled water either in the room or lobby.

The room is nice, they do not offer coffee. This place is only for go to sleep.
