Love the hot tub over looking the harbor. Easy continental breakfast. Clean room with a fridge!

Loved the rooftop hot tub!

Stayed here for 3 days and room was super comfortable. Hotel is walking distance to everything. For the breakfast that is included you get a choice of Pastries, orange juice coffee and oatmeal. The only downside was the Jacuzzi was under maintenance.

The hotel was at a great location and had a nice staff. Breakfast was good and rooms with balcony was nice. Just wish the jacuzzi was bigger.

While the room was nice, the shower was so dirty. When we walked in it was as if someone just showered. Hair everywhere! It was very dark in the room. The worse part of the experience was the hot tub! It was so rinky dinky small and so dirty. When we first went up it wasn’t even hot. It was like warm and the jets wouldn’t turn on and the water was a yellow ish green.

Decent hotel. Needs updating/upgrades. Hot tub was broken. Air conditioner in room was in corner and cold air got trapped so room stayed warm. We requested a fan and they gave us one but no plugs in the room. We then had to ask for an extension cord. Eventually, we were comfortable. Great location. Everything is pretty walkable. Has a cute courtyard area with different shops and services behind the hotel.

The hotel was great! The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive. The beds were uncomfortable. I rolled around most of the night trying to fall asleep but just couldn’t get comfortable. Wife also mentioned she had the same problem on the other mattress since we had a room with two beds. The jacuzzi was warm and didn’t bubble.

My husband and I enjoyed the fact that the hotel was so conveniently located. We could walk to just about everywhere. However, the hot tub on the fourth floor was a little disappointing. Quite small, realistically only about a four person Jacuzzi.

Hotel Metropole in Avalon was an absolute dream! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay so enjoyable. Our room was fantastic and very spacious, with an elegant bathroom boasting beautifully smelling amenities. The hot tub offered incredible views, and the hotel's perfect central location meant everything was easily walkable. Highly recommend!

TERRIBLE BEDS!!!!!! The worst bed we have ever paid to sleep on, -50/10. This hotel really cheated out on the comfort measures. An absolute waste. The bed was springy and had zero support. It was so bad we had to book a $300+ couples massage after our stay because we both had severe back, neck, and sciatic pain. The bathroom was dirty and the floors were dirty. There were cobwebs on the curtains. The staff needs to do a better job and cleaning and they need to replace the beds ASAP!!!! This stay was terrible, never again. We come every year and we will be writing this place off. Save your money! It’s also super loud because it’s right over a shopping center.

Very clean, quiet hotel. Room size was fantastic. Staff was attentive. Breakfast had a good selection. Fantastic location.

Dirty shower upon arrival…Giant clump of hair in the corner! After that, I questioned the cleanliness, so I ended up wearing flip-flops when using the shower. The wi-fi never worked one time!! I had to use up all my hot-spot. The cable wouldn’t work so they switched out the cable box. Then it worked, except the tv volume wouldn’t go up or down and we repeatedly had to get up to change the channel…But had nothing to do with the batteries. The a/c unit leaked so bad at night, it made a river in our room. Thankfully I didn’t slip in the middle of the night. Had to put a bath towel under it the rest of the stay. They never told us to put the sign on the door if we “wanted” our room cleaned, completely opposite of any other hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Their restaurant, M restaurant, was disgusting!!! After one bite, we had to return the steak…twice!! Both times it was like chewing on a hockey puck! The lobster was frozen, not fresh, the mashed potatoes were cold and the asparagus was bland! The free breakfast was good! They had a nice variety of items. The location is awesome, as well as the marketplace. The partial view was better than we expected. The coffee shop in the marketplace was really good!! If the wi-fi and cleanliness wasn’t an issue, I would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast was supposed to be included( as advertised on Expedia). There was a continental breakfast only with old pastries , cereal, and yogurt No sitting area to enjoy the coffee but the 4 chairs. In the room some lights were not working, shower door getting stuck , bathroom not cleaned throughly.

This is a run-down and poorly maintained property. See pic of the huge cockroach in our room. Our room opened into an alley with smelly dumpsters. Cannot recommend this hotel.

The design is cool, with a little alleyway of shops/services going down the middle with a cool courtyard, but that makes it really loud in the morning, especially in the 2-queen bed rooms. There’s a coffee shop right outside beneath Room 206, and it opens pretty early, so that kinda sucked. Pretty much everywhere at the hotel seems loud - loud with a/c noise, loud with some work trucks that continuously pull in and pick up/drop off (?) things. It was just loud. So if noise doesn’t bother you, this is a nice hotel, but it will probably deter me from staying there again. Shout out to Vanessa who was awesome. She let us switch rooms for our second night when I told her it was a little noisy. We moved into 303 which was a little quieter and had a way better view (even a peek-a-boo view of the water). Another plus was that the rooms (both of them) were ready earlier than most hotels. Our first room upon arrival was ready when we got there at like 1:30 and the second one was ready while we were spending our day at Descanso Beach Club (rent chairs here - it’s SO worth it). They even moved our luggage to the new room. Breakfast was okay - pastries, bagels, oatmeal, cold cereal, juices, coffee, & fresh fruit. And you can take it down to the cute courtyard to eat. Overall, it was a great couple of days, but I might try a different hotel next time just because of the noise factor.

I went during a main holiday, the location was super convenient. Its so close to everything. I was able to check in quickly and a little before the expected time. My room overlooked the courtyard and a little bit of the horizon which was a nice view to wake up to. We enjoyed the continental breakfast out in the balcony. The bed and pillows are so comfy, and were actually clean and fresh unlike other places ive stayed where u have to question bedbugs. It very clean and the wood floors are so nice, better than carpet like other places. It has a kreuig and i love the lava hot shower water. It doesnt have a frig or microwave so dont bring back leftovers if u eat out. I had trouble loggin into the wifi, maybe because there was so many people there for the holiday so that kinda sucked but its fine i guess. Its my favorite catalina hotel, i would definitely recommend.

Food options were great including online ordering at the coffee shop that’s next door. Nice selection at Continental breakfast offered to guests. Friendly staff.

Our room was next to the Continental breakfast area and the main entrance to the rooms so it gets very loud in the morning and late at night. The room was cute and quaint. Loved the fireplace!

The “courtyard” view we booked on EXPEDIA turned out to be a blank wall about 12 inches away from our window. There was only about 15 inches of light showing through at the top, and no courtyard in sight. Thank God we did not spend much time in the room. The location is fabulous! Beach towels available at the front desk. The beach immediately across the street is super convenient, and you walk downstairs right into the ocean… Saves all the hassle of dealing with stone beaches. There’s a little hot tub on the roof, but very limited accessibility. The continental breakfast will keep you from starving, but not much to write home about. Would book this hotel again, but splurge for a balcony or ocean view.

Wonderful stay over Valentine's Day weekend. The rooms appear to be newly remodeled/furnished. Well equipped and quiet. Compared to other hotels we have stayed in on Catalina Island, the rooms at Hotel Metropole we nearly twice as big.Highly recommend

Wonderful helpful friendly staff that responded right away to questions. Great location- at most 10 minute walk to everything. Only complaint was wifi issues and tv not consistent. Would stay again!

Mike at the front desk was awesome. Gave me so many tips to make my stay in catalina great. The hotel was beautiful and clean. Bed was so comfy.

Font desk very helpfull. She gave me ice to relief my motion sickness when I check in. After checking out at 11 am, they have service to keep my luggages until my time to get on the ferry which is at 4:30 pm. Definitely come back to this hotel nexts time. Thank you.

Thank you for a superb service and very accommodating. Got there early before check in time and weather was freezing cold. I asked the front office to check in early and if they can give us half day price. He immediately checked on all the rooms and get me one. Thank you so much for the kindness and thoughtfulness. Will definitely be back soon.

Staff has no knowledge of where to go on a hike we wanted to, where to rent stuff, where to get to the stairs the bell tower. She lives there but had no idea where anything is. Staff had attitude when we asked if room is ready earlier. No place to refill water. Photo makes hotel look larger than it is. There was a water jug 1st day. They took it away fit the next todays. I asked they said they don’t know why. Should have a water station or fountain or a recycling bin. Was not worth the money .

We were celebrating my Mom’s 85 birthday and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. Mike was amazing- he surprised my Mom with champagne and appetizers in her room. I highly recommend this hotel!

Two night stay on Catalina, was able to get early check in. The lobby staff was very friendly and professional. Room was very roomy and clean. Coffee maker and refrigerator in room was helpful. Continental breakfast was ok..yogurt, danish, bagels, fruit.

The early check-in option was a plus. The customer service was excellent and the amenities made us very comfortable.

Check-in was easy and initially staff. We were able to leave our luggage there before checking in since we got there early and explore and walk around. Our luggage was brought to the room which was fairly clean. The room was a bit stuffy, but once the air was turned on it was fine. Sliding glass door leading out to the balcony does not lock. I called down to the front desk area to asked about which room we got since it did not look like the description from what I booked through Expedia. I got the newly remodeled Superior room which was supposed to have a fireplace and a bit bigger, but ended up with a Deluxe (there is a size and pricing difference). The older lady who initially checked us in answered when I called to inquire about it and she told me that it was the Deluxe room. I informed her that I booked the Superior which she got defensive and said that I only booked for 2 and had 3 people. The room stated it can sleep 3 with free rollaway bed and did not give me the option to add a 3rd person on the site. She then continued to reprimand me stating that she had the right to cancel my room because I only said 2 people when I booked the room and continue to say that Expedia says that Deluxe and Superior room were the same. Which is not true since Expedia gave me the option to pick different rooms at different prices (Superior and Deluxe being different in the choices given). Not happy with the way I was spoken to, but stay was decent and other staff were nice.

Excellent location. Nice and quiet. Within walking distance to everything. Very comfortable bed and big shower.

The location was prime! It’s attached to a collection of restaurants, shops, and cafes (and an arcade). Live music below in the evenings… and very close to the beach. The staff were all very kind!

The Metropole is in a terrific location. Staffs informative and courteous. The continental breakfast offerings were enough to start your day.

Loved the location of the property and the various activities and attractions that were only a few steps away. Personally loved that it is located at the other end of boardwalk which offers a little more quiet in the evenings once the shops start closing up. Recommend this stay for a couples getaway anytime.

This hotel was perfect! Walkable from the Catalina Island express. Clean and adorable rooms. Amazing restaurants and shops right outside and steps away from your hotel room. Not in the middle of everything where the bars were so it got quiet after 8pm. Slept with the windows open listening to the ocean. They had a nice little continental breakfast nothing too big. They had muffins, bagels, cereal fruit, coffee and juices. I noticed other people complaining about it being too small but it was enough options especially for free. You are on an island and things can get expensive quick especially if food goes to waste. Take your own water if you can. Bottles even at restaurants are $1.50 each. We will be staying here again! Can’t wait to go back.

This place was awesome! Would definitely recommend! Clean,comfortable and a great location! Beds/pillows and towels were plush and comfortable! Fireplace added a warm and romantic feel! Starbucks in the room and perfectly stock continental breakfast!!

Hotel Metropole was great! It is conveniently located near all of the shops and restaurants. The room was very spacious and we really enjoyed the balcony. It was very quiet when we were there, but it was the off season so not sure how noisy it might be during prime time. The breakfast was great!

Nice location. Pretty dated building however and the breakfast is breads and cereal.
