Nice and clean. Parking uphill.

This is a very nice older motel at a great price . It has colorful individual huts and mine was very clean. It's a bit awkward to park a motorcycle but he says we can park in the gated flat area where the pool used to be. The owner is very nice and helpful. I liked staying here.

I drove to the property to check in and left promptly. The parking lot which is actually an asphalt drive way was completely torn up and difficult to drive through. The cabins were not as nice as the pictures. The property was on a hill with some sort of a large storage tank behind it. I was concerned about the people I saw and possible safety. I like to stay in older motels but not this one. I am an older woman traveling alone and I have to honor my concerns when I don't like the feel of a place to stay. I had to find a different place and lost the money for this one.

Delightful understanding owner let us stay and pay until we heard back from a new job position in Arizona he actually refunded us one day when it was time to leave. The owner made several improvements while we were there including panting parking lines on newly resurfaced parking lot and adding more art to the building with a colorful zen painting and and windmills The cabins all recently repainted are cozy and quiet with astounding sunrise views full size fridges excellent TV with many channels hot water excellent AC and heaters Starbucks a block away got all my Walmart and DoorDash deliveries no problem privacy is respected and parking right outside your door. Very safe and quiet. Wish parking lot was dark at night so I could see the night sky but appreciate the security even though it’s a safe area. I can’t say more about the positive vibes and comfort here. I spent the last two New Years Eves here which felt nice at the top of the hill watching the first sunrise of the year. The owner reinvests in his property and has pride in it which makes this place shine like a gem Thank You!

So, I started coming here cuz I had never been to Joshua Tree, the stay is cheap, the place is colorful and private, and I like to get away from the city during the holidays. I’ve now been here many times and I love it. They have recently repainted every unit all the wonderful colors and also repaved the driveway. I appreciate when owners take care of their property. The owner is a cool guy always a warm welcome and said he’s a gemologist which explains the cool crystals in the office. He’s colorful and I like that. The rooms are everything you need. The double bed is more like a king size, the AC and heat work great, nice big DirecTV, hot water, colorful big room, Kitchen with full fridge/freezer, coffee maker, microwave, but the best thing is the sunrise view… just magic. I hope he considers putting a hot tub where the old pool was but it will make a nice sun deck or garden maybe someday. Being so colorful forces you to be happy. Go be happy. 10/10

Super convenient and extremely original ! A few minutes away from the park entrance, colourful cabins within which you’ll find everything you need. Easy parking right in front of your cabin. Friendly and very helpful staff.

Overall I had a positive stay here. The check-in process was friendly and easy. The room, while not the one pictured in the booking, was clean and comfortable. I was concerned about safety in the area, but everything turned out fine. The area outside my room was very well lit at night. This was a good location for exploring Joshua Tree in day trips from the 29 Palms park entrance, and as other reviews mentioned, a good no frills place for 1-2 nights just to have a hot shower and place to sleep if you are on a budget. I liked the colorful walls and its spot on top of a hill made it look like a welcome addition to the desert landscape. The room heater worked well. Things to note so there are no surprises - The driveway is uphill and the pavement needs work but they keep it level by infilling sections with gravel and it was no problem to drive over in a passenger car. You park on a slope for the most part so it wouldn't be good for someone that needs to park in an easy level lot. There wasn't really any storage for clothes or anything like that in the room so it's best for short stays of 1-2 nights. The shower head did not have very good water pressure and the knobs were a little hard to adjust to get the right not too hot, not too cold temperature but it was adequate.

Cool, funky, low-key place. Nice big rooms, very clean, each one with a sitting area on the porch.

Room was in terrible shape, cables everywhere, shoddy repairs, bathroom dirty with long hairs. Had an issue with the cable and the manager said “figure it out’, only to find out the cable was out all night. 1-star at best.

Very good value for money. Overnight stop on a roadtrip and the place is perfect for that. Comfortable and sizeable room with mini kitchen, good bed and clean bathroom.

Flora were sticky. Room could use a deep clean but was decent for price.

Love the funky colors and inspired decor, but the place was not quite as clean as I'd like.

We couldn’t spent the night there, the place was nice and it looked clean but when we were about to go to bed, we found bedbugs. It was late so we just left but came back the next day to let the owner know. He was rude and he kicked us out of his property calling us liars and telling us he paid so cheap to complain.

The owner was great first of all. Nice man. Other than that the coffee maker was super dirty. I had to clean it before use. Other things were dirty like the table where the coffee maker was, top of the fridge, some of the walls, and the towels and room itself smelled funny. I cleaned the table as well. The curtain was a bit wonky and let light in. I fixed it a little to not allow the light. The fridge though dirty was large and nice to have. The internet was really slow but functional. Very colorful place though. Also the bed didn’t have a fitted sheet but a regular sheet instead which was odd so easy to move around and create discomfort. We didn’t pay much according to today’s standards, so I guess we got what we paid for. Thank you.

Very good value for a sizable, well furnished and clean room (actually a little cottage with kitchenette and patio). Quiet, centrally located in 29 Palms and right on US 62 to access Joshua Tree. Friendly and accommodating ownership. Very comfortable weekend stay in a very interesting town to visit in the desert.

Loved the room, which is actually a little bungalow, which included a kitchenette. The view was great, because you are on a hill, well above the road, and you can see into the distance. The proprietor is a great guy, who I found to be extremely friendly. The motel, is very convenient to Joshua Tree Natl Park.

Very charming and quiet better than you expect when pulling in. Motel prices and simple setup but no wall sharing, ac nice and cold, good shower, newer mattress, larger fridge, microwave...no complaints here :-)

The rooms were uniquely painted and all are different. We liked that there was a fridge available.

Property was built on a very steep hill. Maybe with a large enough spend, it could have been made to work, but why bother, there is a ton of level undeveloped property in the area, why build on a steep hill. Elecrticsl was downright frightening, not sure I have ever seen such a spaghetti junction as I was witness to on my wall, just above my bed. Hard to believe building codes allowed that.

It's a very charming, eclectic place, your own 'cabin' with a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, coffee pot (no sink). Plenty of space, your own front 'porch' with a bench. Free WiFi, cable TV affordable, pet friendly without outrageous fees, plenty of space to walk the dogs, great manager. So for me, doing short weekend getaways that often combine work, this is ideal, I could bring my own food, plenty of places close by, a coffee pot in the room. Not a lot of amenities but they are making some improvements, that includes a pool. My only 'comment' would be the internet went in/out at times, so having a hot spot is helpful but it's the desert, can happen anywhere; and it looked like someone changed the settings on the TV, I couldn't get the DirectTV cablebox to work and the manager didn't know how, doesn't seem like anyone there might be 'tech' knowledgeable. Not the worst thing, I wasn't in my room much, but it would have been nice to watch a movie while eating dinner, getting ready to drive in the next day back to work. The manager Nick is a wonderful person. I love offbeat places like this, perfect for me.

Room was cute in a funky way. Clean and comfortable enough except that the AC does not cook the room below 80 degrees.

The room I got was set up studio apartment style! Pretty decent in square footage considering it’s an hotel and had an offset room with small dining area, fridge and food storage. Full bath tub to soak a plus. Nice, clean set of towels. Overall great value!

The staff was super friendly but the room was subpar. The AC was not strong enough to coll the room even after hours being on. The mattresses and pillows were lumpy and bed base was way smaller than the mattress. The shower drain was partially clogged and the toilet in a a corner between two walls that I could hardly fit into. The room outlets are not US outlets so there various extension cords and split outlets but when you tuen off the main light, an emergency light goes on and cannot be turned off. Super flaky colors were nice but room was inconvenient and strange.

Comfy bed, great air con, huge fridge freezer, microwave, coffee filter machine, great shower. 2 mugs provided - need to bring own bowls/plates/cutlery. Supermarket 1min drive away. The owner was a flat-out A-hole. I checked-in and he seemed like a nice guy at first... Got to my room only to discover it was the most opposite of clean you can imagine. Being VERY polite I notified him thinking maybe it was just missed that day.. He then proceeded to call in his cleaning lady (who wasn't even there). While she was on her way he came to the room with me and proceeded to start YELLING at ME as if it was my fault they didn't clean the room. Absolute madness! I was then shown another room by the just arrived cleaning lady who then gave me the gears stating how she's now going to lose her job?? (Ummm, doing your damn job would be a start no?) I wasn't expecting a fancy hotel in the least, as I do know you get what you pay for. All I wanted was clean. (food stains on the table, someone else beard hairs all over the sink, stained sheets, dirty toilet, unswept floors, no working remote for the crooked TV nearly coming off the wall... I can go on and on here.) Sleeping in your car is my recommendation. This guy is a joke. Never again

Sweet little cabins on a hillside with a nice view of the rising sun and downtown Twentynine Palms. Each cabin has its own bright color scheme. Each unit is clean and well appointed inside, though rough around some edges. We had a full size fridge in our unit (which was excellent), yet the right and left faucets in the shower didn't match, and the cold was a bit hard to turn on/off. For the money and the views, and the extremely kind and helpful management, it's great lodging. Definitely not glamorous, but very welcoming, clean, and comfortable.

Nick, the manager was so kind and accommodating. He’d allowed my check in by phone before he closed office for the night as I wouldn’t be arriving early enough. The next day I made it a point to go in and introduce myself. Upon check out I was able to see him again to say goodbye and introduce him to my daughter. He expressed gratitude for my daughter’s life of service and we chatted about his love for minerals and gemology. The cheerful, whimsical aesthetic was a delight in the otherwise drab color scheme of the desert. It was a fantastic stay with excellent service.

The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed for a night's stay.

I love the friendliness of Nick and his staff and the convenience of having our car parked just steps away from our door.I also love the quirkiness and colorful uniqueness that sets this place apart from the chain hotels. A really good experience!

yikes. Avoid. I reserved a room here, and was contacted by Expedia to contact the property to pay (Expedia has pay at property listed) or my reservation would be cancelled. I called the property and the gentleman I spoke to would not take my credit card information and Expedia also was unable to help after talking with two different representatives. My fiancé called and explained the situation, thinking the hotel owner understood the issue and he clearly did not. Instead of switching my reservation to his name, he booked an entire new room and charged him. And then proceeded to ALSO charge me for mine. And then would not refund. What a NIGHTMARE to work with this place. Disorganized, no people skills and RUDE as heck. DO NOT STAY HERE.

The parking lot was poorly lite, was hardly even a parking lot, didn’t have any defined parking spots and had cars tucked into dark alleys between buildings. I was traveling solo and did not feel safe enough to get out of my car by myself, never mind check into the hotel. I had Expedia try and contact the hotel that even and the hotel wouldn’t respond. I went to another, safer feeling hotel instead of staying at 9 Palms. Expedia also tried the next day to communicate with the hotel and they would not. I would not recommend this hotel based on the terrible service and creepy vibes.

The property manager was very personable and welcoming to the area. The cottages are very cute, and have a gorgeous view of Downtown 29 Palms. First choice for a whimsy desert stay.

The owner of this property is kind and most genuine. I love the colorful decor. The location is on top of a hill with a great open view of the desert. A worthwhile stay for the money.

The location is within walking distance of the entire 29 Palms shopping strip, granting easy access to food and other resources. The rooms themselves are very vibrantly decorated and the beds are super comfortable. I decided to extend my stay after the first night!

Very quiet older motel, circa 1940s. Close to downtown 29 Palms. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. If you are looking for a quiet, no frills place to stay, this place is for you. I would certainly stay here again.

It’s a nice family oriented colorful hotel. Good for those visiting Joshua National park. It ver close to North East Entrance. They even had actually coffee mugs, microwave, bigger fridge those are good to have if you are eating your own food. All supplies were adequate too. Would stay here again!

Owner is a sweetheart. Room is clean, spacious, unique, central to 29 palms, top of the hill view of the desert from the shared porch. Parking right at the room. A few inconveniences are that the coffee is terrible but plenty of cafe's around. The internet is completely useless, I couldn't even get a speedtest to work and used my hotspot or went to Starbucks. The electrical is over-extended - my laptop would not charge unless I shut it down. Plugging it in caused the lights to dim. There are a lot of appliance noises (AC but other things) inside and out, so it is not quiet. Depending on what you are doing, for me these were minor inconveniences for the price. But full disclosure, I live on a sailboat, so it was a mansion to me.

Love this place. Little gem in the desert. This is our 3rd year staying here for the landers orchid festival. It’s close to many great places to eat, farmers markets and local attractions. We will be back next year 😊
