What a great place in the middle of a great area of town! The rooms are comfortable, service is impeccable. Ample parking lot behind the building is another advantage of this hotel.

The Castillo Rojo is a very nice property. Staff is efficient and friendly. Considerations for guests, there is no elevator and rooms are at least one if not two flights upstairs. Also, the hotel policy is to lock its front gates at all times, so entering and leaving requires staff assistance each time.

This is an old building (if you can't do stairs see if they have a ground floor room??), but our bath was modern and room quite comfortable. You can walk to myriad restaurants from here and the large plazas, a metro, etc. Our area was very quiet at night. Breakfast was simple, but gets you out the door. Great coffee and can order custom eggs and fresh fruit. Wine hour in the early evening is a nice touch & provides opportunity to meet other travelers. They have a lovely courtyard and in warmer months would be a great place to hang. I would stay here again.

We started and ended our Chilean wine adventure with the amazing team at Castillo Rojo, in their amazing boutique hotel. Alexander, Erica, Lau and Auto went above and beyond getting us settled and accommodating us during our stay in this historic, well-appointed and comfortable boutique hotel. From its striking red exterior, amazing, one of a kind rooms and world class cafe (breakfast included and a hosted wine soirée in the lounge every afternoon from 6 - 7) to our own unique rooms (each one different, well appointed, comfortable and best water pressure of the trip) to gated, secure parking, it was a wonderful welcome to Santiago. It is also walking distance to Pablo Neruda’s house and museum, the San Cristobal funicular, a host of restaurants, a small shopping center, parks and the Plaza de Armas (and El Portal, the Completo shop across the street). We managed all of this in just two days visiting…we can’t wait to go back and spend even more time. It was an easy two hour drive from here to the Colchagua Valley. And though the amazing historic hotel has no elevator (we stayed on the third and fourth floors, respectively between our two visits), Auto and Alexander were up to the task of delivering our bags to our rooms (I am 62 and my husband is 65…both in decent shape…but still very appreciative for the assistance with my bag which was 28 kilos and our wine suitcase, which by the end of our trip, weighted 22 kilos). Can’t recommend the Hotel Castillo Rojo strongly enough!

Great place. A converted old house. The neighborhood is quite lively and many restaurants in the area. Rooms are decorated with individual themes. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was good. Only issue is that it is 5 stories and no elevator. Staff was great about helping with luggage. Might be an issue for anyone who cannot climb stairs easily.

This quirky historical hotel has it all. We loved our stay, amazing room with balcony and city view at 4th floor. Surrounding area has a ton of dining and bar choices and you can walk to Patio Bellavista. The staff was amazing and helped in anyway they could and schlepped our luggage up to 4th floor as they do not have elevator because of historic building. Linens on bed are buttery soft and the lounge area was beautifully as was the patio area and nightly wine at 5 is a great way to meet other guests and share your day.

Great location. Comfortable room and bed. Rooms noted on Expedia at time of our bookingto have balcony, but only a few rooms actually have a balcony in the hotel. Great staff. Very nice breakfast and sitting area for breakfast. Great shower pressure and water is hot. No elevator.

This hotel was excellent in so many ways. It’s full of historic charm in a century old building. the common sitting area where they host a social wine tasting hour each afternoon is so welcoming and elegant. the rooms (each with a differing layout i think) are warm and welcoming. the environmental controls worked well and that bathroom was a good size with a nice walk in shower area. great views from our 4th floor window and a nice full sized wardrobe stocked with robes and slippers. There were many touches that made it feel like home and very classy. a few things i will mention are the need to be let out of building by desk clerk each time you leave the hotel, it feels a bit controlling. the water pressure was a bit low up on 4th floor anyway and no elevator so be prepared to carry your bags up the beautiful stairway! Desk staff were friendly and always eager to help. Carlos was very nice to us. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Initially selected this hotel because I only was going to be In Santiago for 1 1/2 days and wanted to ride in the closed streets bicycle event held every Sunday and there was a nearby bicycle rental store. I didn't realize it was so close to so many restaurants and other tourist sites. Facility has a beautiful shaded patio and the staff was super friendly even letting me partake in the afternoon free happy hour even though I checked out that morning.

Prédio tombado pelo patrimônio histórico. Não tem elevador. Complicado para quem se hospeda no terceiro andar!! Toalhas velhas e as vezes rasgadas, incompatíveis com “hotel boutique”. Problemas com encanamento na descarga do banheiro. Equipe de atendimento gentil e solícita. Ótima localização.

The hotel is beautiful, they have a free happy hour every day at 5 PM, they almost always give me a bottle of champagne, even if I don’t get the upgrade, the staff is incredible. They always carry my luggage to my room. The rooms are impeccably, clean and have a lot of little gifts inside like chocolate robes and slippers. All in all it’s just a great day and it’s my second time and I will stay again.

Everyone who stays at the Castillo Rojo loves it. The building is magnificent for a boutique hotel. The room was nice, clean, and amazingly quiet given the central location in Bellavista. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Definitely a 10 out of 10

O Hotel é uma casa centenária de 3 andares sem elevador com linda decoração, numa área bem localizada e quartos com cama/travesseiros confortáveis. O 1° quarto que ficamos era pequeno para um casal e sem água quente. Mudaram-nos para outro de mesma categoria e maior, no dia seguinte, que nos atendeu muito bem. Passamos 2 dias sem água quente por problemas na caldeira e todos os dias com baixa pressão na água no chuveiro (o maior ponto negativo). Café da manhã, no bistrô do hotel, servidos em pequenas porções de pães quentes, ovos, queijo/presunto, sucos e frutas com mínimas variações, mas muito gostoso e bem apresentado, nos atendeu muito bem. No fim da tarde é servido vinhos numa área comum aconchegante para os hóspedes desgutarem. Sem a menor dúvida, o melhor do hotel/bistrô é o seu staff, especialmente: Érica, Lau, Barbara, Alvaro e Andrey (Bistrô). Todos solícitos com dicas e prestativos com serviços e o que mais precisássemos. Conseguimos marcar passeios nas vinícolas sem vaga por outras agências, via agendamento pelo hotel com pagamento direto ao guia turístico. Os passeios que saem cedo, o hotel solicita lanches do Bistrô para levar, mas tivemos uma falha na nossa solicitação, não usufruimos desse serviço. Inclusive há serviço privativo de motorista, muito pontual e educado, agendado pelo hotel, mediante pedido e pagamento ao próprio motorista.

The property is very convenient to Bella Vista. The rooms are very clean and nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They all could speak English. Only drawback is the stairs. We were on the 4th floor so it was quite a hike. But would definitely stay there again!

Loved this place. Beautiful place, rooms are huge, staff is great. Location is great also, 2 blocks from the funicular (cable car) up San Cristobal Hill to the Virgin Mary monument. We were upgraded to a great room on the top floor; only issue was the stairs to get up there as their is no elevator. Breakfast was great, as was the wine happy hour each afternoon. Plus, we loved Santiago. Great city to visit. Also, get Willy from www.chiletourfun.com to take you for a personalized tour of the city. He was fantastic, well worth the price; 5 hour tour to everywhere in the city. Very good English, too.

This was a delightful hotel in a great neighborhood. However we can’t really recommend it if you are staying over a weekend and want peace and quiet. There was a wedding reception directly under our room and in the adjacent courtyard that was extremely loud with music and a dj until way past midnight. It was impossible for guests to sleep as the rooms all overlook this courtyard. The vibrations were so intense our windows and doors were rattling. While we understand a boutique hotel has to support itself in many ways and weddings may offer a chance for additional revenue, the wedding was so over the top loud it seems impossible to operate a hotel in the same location. We are returning to Santiago in a few months but sadly will not take the same risk and will book elsewhere.

Perfect location. Easy walk to plenty of bars and restaurants. Love the daily sunset wine and greet in the lounge with other guests. Great way of getting first hand tips. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Beds very comfortable. Freshly prepared scrambled eggs and bacon and good selection on breakfast buffet.

We had a great experience at Castillo Rojo! They have a complimentary wine hour where a few guests come and sit together in the beautifully decorated purple lounge and all meet and discuss tips for travelling locally! Definitely a highlight of the trip meeting fellow travellers. Safe to walk around the area and easy to get Ubers wherever else you need to go! The rooms are beautiful and have everything you need. If you’re a light sleeper I’d recommend bringing ear plugs as due to the nature of the older property you can hear people walking around/getting home in the middle of the night. Breakfast was included and so nice out in the courtyard! Everyone who works there was so friendly and nice. Would recommend!!!

This quirky historical hotel has it all. We loved our stay, amazing room with balcony and city view at 4th floor. Surrounding area has a ton of dining and bar choices and you can walk to Patio Bellavista. The staff was amazing and helped in anyway they could and schlepped our luggage up to 4th floor as they do not have elevator because of historic building. Linens on bed are buttery soft and the lounge area was beautifully as was the patio area and nightly wine at 5 is a great way to meet other guests and share your day.

Great hotel at a great location. Breakfast was super good. Friendly staff. It's a 100 y/o house converted to a boutique hotel. It preserves the charm and feel of the original. Lots od stairs so just watch out if unable to do stairs.

The staff at this hotel were exceptional. They took care of all our needs, from boxed breakfasts to accommodate early morning outings, to arranging taxis. We enjoyed happy hour with other travellers. Many restaurant options close by. We felt very safe with all the precautions the hotel had in place. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

We started and ended our Chilean wine adventure with the amazing team at Castillo Rojo, in their amazing boutique hotel. Alexander, Erica, Lau and Auto went above and beyond getting us settled and accommodating us during our stay in this historic, well-appointed and comfortable boutique hotel. From its striking red exterior, amazing, one of a kind rooms and world class cafe (breakfast included and a hosted wine soirée in the lounge every afternoon from 6 - 7) to our own unique rooms (each one different, well appointed, comfortable and best water pressure of the trip) to gated, secure parking, it was a wonderful welcome to Santiago. It is also walking distance to Pablo Neruda’s house and museum, the San Cristobal funicular, a host of restaurants, a small shopping center, parks and the Plaza de Armas (and El Portal, the Completo shop across the street). We managed all of this in just two days visiting…we can’t wait to go back and spend even more time. It was an easy two hour drive from here to the Colchagua Valley. And though the amazing historic hotel has no elevator (we stayed on the third and fourth floors, respectively between our two visits), Auto and Alexander were up to the task of delivering our bags to our rooms (I am 62 and my husband is 65…both in decent shape…but still very appreciative for the assistance with my bag which was 28 kilos and our wine suitcase, which by the end of our trip, weighted 22 kilos). Can’t recommend the Hotel Castillo Rojo strongly enough!

There are no words to describe how good this hotel is. It has the most amazing staff we have ever had at any hotel in our entire lives. The service is incredible. The hotel is clean and our room was fantastic. If I am ever in this city again I will always stay here, great location, great rooms, superior staff. There is NOTHING I would change about this place. I miss this place and especially their staff.

This is a beautiful hotel well located in Santiago. Problem is the service. The hotel has no greeter and the people at the desk are only moderately helpful. I had a tiny room on the fourth floor and no elevator and not everyone can walk the steps. Recommendations from staff were minimal. Upgrade the service this will be a great place.

We had a nice time at the hotel . It is lovely - in a nice location. My only complaint is that my daughter was sick and to extend late check- out for 5 hours required payment of 1/2 an additional day’s stay. Maybe that’s standard but seemed a little expensive to me. Aside from that, we had a very nice stay and enjoyed the furnishings and ideal location.

Staff was excellent. I was warmly greeted by Erica, the next day Veronica helped arranged a car for me to get to museums since Ubers weren't available due to the holiday, and Laus made one of the most excellent dinner suggestions. He really did a great job with dining information in the area. Breakfast folks were also great. This is a beautiful hotel in an excellent neighborhood, steps from Neruda's house. A little like benign a Wes Anderson movie. Complimentary wine in the evenings was appreciated.

Quaint and fun area with lots of restaurants and bars. Right next to Cerro San Cristóbal - walking, running, and great views from top of the park. 15 minute walk to the historic centre, Lastarria neighbourhoods. The hotel itself is very nice and the staff super friendly.

Patio Bella Vista is also a very short walk away with restaurants and shops. Fantastic Peruvian-style restaurant right across the street. Super friendly and helpful staff. Wow, nothing like being in the center of what's happening. I watched a concert and street faire with traditional dancers from my hotel window! Great restuarants across the street;with the Pablo Nerudo Museum around the corner. If you want a taste of Chilean culture, the hotel is ground zero for all kinds of cultural experiences. Plus the hotel is old style Chile, unlike the steel and glass hotels downtown. This is artistic Chile at its best. Castillo Rojo staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is tasty. They upgraded me to a suite looking onto the square. A bit noisy on Saturday nights as the bars close at 3AM and the beat of the music can be felt until then even with the windows shut.

We loved this location - close to Cerro San Cristobal, good restaurants, and a happening, though pretty touristy, nightlife. It's in a very walkable area. The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially the server who takes care of breakfast. The concierge gave us great suggestions for dinners and things to see. The rooms are nice, even without the upgrade, and the wine/coffee lounge is a nice, comfy spot to hang out.

I would not down a star for this but but the breakfast buffet was kind of weird and disjointed. No plates or coffee cups. A jar of butter but no knife. You have to ask for everything that is then provided with good cheer.

This is an old building (if you can't do stairs see if they have a ground floor room??), but our bath was modern and room quite comfortable. You can walk to myriad restaurants from here and the large plazas, a metro, etc. Our area was very quiet at night. Breakfast was simple, but gets you out the door. Great coffee and can order custom eggs and fresh fruit. Wine hour in the early evening is a nice touch & provides opportunity to meet other travelers. They have a lovely courtyard and in warmer months would be a great place to hang. I would stay here again.

This jewell in the middle of the hectic Bellavista neighborhood is absolutely amazing. Seated in the quiet part of Bellavista, next to Pablo Neruda's museum home and surrounded by the San Cristobal hill. The hotel itself is a museum / art gallery, with beautiful classy decoration and wonderful books to read. The rooms are spacious and elegant. The staff is so attentive and polite, always helpful and kind. My wife and I had a long stay in Santiago and I was worried about feeling a bit trapped due to the weather that cancelled all our day trips, but we felt like at home. Steps away there is a theatre with a good bar, half a block away a little plaza with a Mexican a Peruvian and a chilean restaurant in a quiet zone. We will be back
