The hotel is in a great location for easy access to Windermere. The pool was a short drive away, and as we were there for only a couple of nights we didn't get to use it. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Our bed was comfortable and the shower was lovely. Would be very happy to stay there again on our next visit to Windermere.

We had a fabulous time. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Everything was close by and the spa pass was an added bonus. Thank you.

Lovely one night break, this was a last minute booking, after checking the reviews, we decide the Howbeck would be ideal for our needs. We stayed in Deepdale which is classed as a superior room, lots of the reviews mention spa baths, however this room only has a shower cubicle. This room is also at the front of the hotel, so there is traffic noise. The room was clean, and spacious. Arriving in February, we expected the radiators to be on, but they weren’t. so the room was colder than we expected. We presume they had been turned off by the previous guests. The breakfast choice had to be made the night before, the Cumberland breakfast was enjoyable. The best thing about this hotel is the location , a few minutes walk into Windermere and 20 minutes walk into Bowness. Being able to leave the car in the hotel car park, after checking out was a bonus.

Great place to stay, comfortable room and lovely breakfast. Ideal location, a short walk into Windermere and then around 15-20 mins walk to Bowness. Being able to leave the car at the hotel before and after check in is a bonus too. Lovely staff as well and very accommodating with us having a baby. Would recommend and stay here again!

Fabulous Hotel. So warm comfortable and welcoming. Rooms were high standard. Bath with jets was lovely after a walk. Breakfast....too much to eat and so delicious! Staff attentive and friendly.

If you’re looking for a relaxing, peaceful getaway, we highly recommend booking The Retreat. From the moment we arrived, the friendly and helpful staff made us feel welcome. Our spacious room was equipped with great amenities, and we especially loved the spa bath with air bubbles the perfect way to unwind before bed. In the morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast with plenty of options, served on our private patio, before taking a short walk into Windermere. Everything about our stay was just wonderful.

Good location, able to access Lake Windermere and surrounding areas easily. Very comfortable bed and good space within room. Only draw back was room location on ground floor next to front door which affected our sleep on both nights due the noise from the other guests entering and a disagreement between two guests outside our window area and front door which required the police to be called to support staff. Would come back but not stay in that room.

There are a lot of different breakfast options, and the food is great especially the bacon in Eggs Benedict and the sourdough bread. The spa bath is great, and the bathroom is nice. The only problem is the extra bed is a bit too soft, and the bed is a bit too low. Access to transport is near, as Windermere Library bus stop is near (basically in front of the hotel!), so is Windermere Railway Station as it’s an 10 minute walk via High Street. Overall the stay is pretty good.

Wonderful hospitality by Steve & the ladies. Delicious breakfast. very attentive staff, nothing is too much of a trouble always willing to help. Very clean and comfortable place to stay. Can’t wait to visit again.

The breakfast choice had to be made the night before, the Cumberland breakfast was enjoyable. The best thing about this hotel is the location , a few minutes walk into Windermere and 20 minutes walk into Bowness. Being able to leave the car in the hotel car park, after checking out was a bonus.

Lovely one night break, this was a last minute booking, after checking the reviews, we decide the Howbeck would be ideal for our needs. We stayed in Deepdale which is classed as a superior room, lots of the reviews mention spa baths, however this room only has a shower cubicle. This room is also at the front of the hotel, so there is traffic noise. The room was clean, and spacious. Arriving in February, we expected the radiators to be on, but they weren’t. so the room was colder than we expected. We presume they had been turned off by the previous guests. There are a lot of different breakfast options, and the food is great especially the bacon in Eggs Benedict and the sourdough bread. The spa bath is great, and the bathroom is nice. The only problem is the extra bed is a bit too soft, and the bed is a bit too low. Access to transport is near, as Windermere Library bus stop is near (basically in front of the hotel!), so is Windermere Railway Station as it’s an 10 minute walk via High Street. Overall the stay is pretty good.

Great place to stay, comfortable room and lovely breakfast. Ideal location, a short walk into Windermere and then around 15-20 mins walk to Bowness. Being able to leave the car at the hotel before and after check in is a bonus too. Lovely staff as well and very accommodating with us having a baby. Would recommend and stay here again!

We absolutely loved staying here. Its a beautiful hotel. Our host was really lovely and the room was perfect. Would definitely stay here again. The location was just perfect. Only a short walk to lake Windermere.

Fabulous Hotel. So warm comfortable and welcoming. Rooms were high standard. Bath with jets was lovely after a walk. Breakfast....too much to eat and so delicious! Staff attentive and friendly.

Comfortable and very clean in a perfect location for Windermere and Bowness. The welcome and Customer Service were outstanding and better than several places I’ve stayed at. The Howbeck team really care. Breakfast was great and again the customer service at breakfast was outstanding.
