This property was once elegant if kitschy mid-century, and I visited out of curiosity. The property needs a serious facelift and presumably structural work. Failing that, just removing the mold, painting, power washing the walkways and paying attention to landscaping would make a difference. It's likely wood rot has damaged the exterior and mold with snow may have damaged the roof. The rooms were quite noisy too. Flooring needs some work and sound deadening. Another guest made similar comments to me at checkout about the depressing condition of the property. The beds were comfortable. The maids did a good job of cleaning but rooms were very musty due to water damage to the structure and carpeting. Would not doubt black mold exists in the walls. None of my comments are likely news to the proprietors, but further delays in addressing issues might just spell the end of the Lodge.

Liked the ease to get to our boat to fish in the morning Did not like all the pot holes around the property. They should fix that. Also we were charge a large resort fee and the pool was not working. If you are going to charge a resort fee, everything MUST work in order to receive that.

The property is perfect for the area. You visit Door County for the charm. It’s old but well kept, wonderful breakfast included great restaurant onsite and bar & tiki bar. It’s great!

We didn’t stay the night we left at 8pm. My daughter and I did not feel safe. There were a group of men staying on the floor above us and they were hanging out smoking pot on their balcony. When we came back from a walk they made us uncomfortable so we left. Also chose this hotel because of the outdoor pool. The pool is not even filled with water. It was an overall very disappointing experience.

The room and interior are very dated and in need of repair. Ours had holes in the walls a very old bathtub that did not appear clean. The upside was the bed was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is lovely and it is a shame the interior is in rough shape.

The location of this hotel is great…very close to downtown. But there is no water views except from the front steps. Also, the hotel and rooms need a buff job. The beds were just ok, the walls were very thin so could hear conversations next door and footsteps upstairs, the bathroom was crummy as the tub is worn and needs replacing and there was hair in the tub when we arrived, and the lighting is horrible as not enough lamps so very dark. Overall, it needs updating and a good cleaning.

The Lodge exceeded my expectations because of how clean and comfortable our stay was. The room had a jacuzzi tub (I was leery about using it but it was super clean), fireplace, a small kitchen area, and separate living/ sleeping space, private patio. The decor throughout is a bit outdated (think a cozy stay at grandma’s) but not important to me. Our stay included breakfast- with waffles, an omelette station (served hot & fresh made to order!), breakfast muffins/ cereal, yogurt/ granola, juice/ coffee/ tea. The property has a lively bar/ bar type of restaurant with similar food choices. The staff here were all very welcoming and friendly. They also welcome guests staying with pets as pet friendly rooms are available. (We stayed without pets and I didn’t see or hear one the entire time I was there.) The lodge is right across the street from water/ a small marina. The only negative is that there is no fan and the rooms aren’t very sound proof- hallway noise & noise from above is very easily heard. We had a group of women outside our room conversing/ laughing with disregard to their noise level in the hallway until late. A white noise machine/ fan can help with that.

Horrible smells upon arrival and wouldn’t refund us even when we said we didn’t mind paying the first day, but wanted a refund for next two. The drive into the hotel was a concrete driveway that was all torn up and I thought would damage my car if I drove it multiple times. The sign to the property was slashed and upon entering the hotel it wasn’t maintained nicely. Visible mold in lobby bathroom. Awful smells in lobby. Drip down the outside the front of the hotel. We said we would pay for that day but wanted our money back for the other days. We didn’t feel safe staying there. Both the hotel owners and Expedia gave us the run around and wouldn’t refund.

Very old and run down. Roon dirty with drips of I don't know what on the walls. Carpet sticky, mold and growth in shower. Toulet roll holder brocken and towels so ols they were yellow. Pool had no water and was crumbling. I would never stay there again!

there were small insects in the room. Cobwebs and other indicators including dust indicating that the cleaning process was not good . The refrigerator was frosted over and inoperable. I complained to the front desk and they did send a maintenance person who replaced the refrigerator, but we were inconvenienced and had to wait while he came to take the refrigerator. We were also inconvenienced because we had to wait until he picked it up the next day. Just a bad experience.

We stayed for 1 night, and our double queen room was very clean and had an air conditioner. Though not technically "updated," everything was in really good shape (save for one of the queen mattresses that had a slope to it). Everyone was friendly, and though we didn't get the chance to eat at the restaurant on site, the food smelled good! We did have the included breakfast, and it was a pretty decent continental, including someone making eggs/omelets. Parking was a little tight, but there is definitely enough space to park on gravel or grass if not enough actual parking spaces. That being said, you will need a car to get to downtown Sturgeon Bay. I would definitely recommend this place!
We stayed for 1 night, and our double queen room was very clean and had an air conditioner. Though not technically "updated," everything was in really good shape (save for one of the queen mattresses that had a slope to it). Everyone was friendly, and though we didn't get the chance to eat at the restaurant on site, the food smelled good! We did have the included breakfast, and it was a pretty decent continental, including someone making eggs/omelets. Parking was a little tight, but there is definitely enough space to park on gravel or grass if not enough actual parking spaces. That being said, you will need a car to get to downtown Sturgeon Bay. I would definitely recommend this place!

It is a beautiful property. But, the inside of the hotel is old and worn out. Beds are old and uncomfortable, old lamps and chairs. I think if the owners would put some new furniture, beds, decor it would be worth the price they are charging. Currently you are paying for grounds and location, not the hotel itself.

The Lodge exceeded my expectations because of how clean and comfortable our stay was. The room had a jacuzzi tub (I was leery about using it but it was super clean), fireplace, a small kitchen area, and separate living/ sleeping space, private patio. Our stay included breakfast- with waffles, an omelette station (served hot & fresh made to order!), breakfast muffins/ cereal, yogurt/ granola, juice/ coffee/ tea. The property has a lively bar/ bar type of restaurant with similar food choices. The staff here were all very welcoming and friendly. They also welcome guests staying with pets as pet friendly rooms are available. (We stayed without pets and I didn’t see or hear one the entire time I was there.) The lodge is right across the street from water/ a small marina. The only negative is that there is no fan and the rooms aren’t very sound proof- hallway noise & noise from above is very easily heard. We had a group of women outside our room conversing/ laughing with disregard to their noise level in the hallway until late. A white noise machine/ fan can help with that.

Lodge is very outdated for the price, air conditioners in rooms are window units, dirty and very old, outdated dingy towels and bathtubs. Room smelled very clean and liked the outside deck, pillows are great. Shelly at Tiki Bar was amazing!! Food is average not a big menu.

We got a big suite after a snafu at another place, so our experience might be different. Suite was great with a nice balcony to sit and listen to the birds with coffee in the morning. Lodge was old but maintained. Clean, but needs paint. Everything worked. Bed was comfy, shower was great. Breakfast was terrific with made to order omelets and tasty scones.

Bathroom doors don't lock. Balcony doors didn't lock. Shower faucet really bad. Carpet seemed like it was wet. room was dark and didn't have enough lighting. The iron was the smallest I've ever seen and didn't even iron the clothes properly.

Property is definitely in need of dire update; especially for the $300/night l. General feel is stale and worn. We were moved to a new room after discovering tub was completely rusty and appeared stained. To the credit of management, we were given a free night and suite upgrade. Although clearly expensive to undertake, we believe there was much potential given the location and big crowds in the area.

Excellent stay. Jacuzzi tub in the room was amazing. Facility interior was beautiful and clean and the staff was very friendly. Continental breakfast was amazing. Everything we ordered at the restaurant/bar was excellent, both the food and drinks. Would love to stay there again.

Friendly and attentive staff, comfortable beds, good enough for the basics. Yes, its a little outdated if that bothers you but we weren't there to just stay around the hotel and room. Beautiful view outside of Sturgeon Bay and close to the shopping areas.

The service at the restaurant was terrible. We waited 20 min for someone to even take our drink order. It was painfully obvious that there were local regulars in the restaurant and tbe staff blatantly prioritized them over other guests. It took an hour from the time we sat down until our food finally came out and it was not up to expectations. They listed fresh fish on their menue and it was clearly processed frozen fish. For breakfast they did serve a made fresh omelet however there was only one cheif for the enitre service. We waited in line for 40 min before we could ordrer. It was very good but the wait was ridiculous! The room we had was dingy and smelled of mildew. The carpet was filthy and stained. The bathroom was terrible, the tub was dirty and the kleenex box mounted on the wall was metal and covered in rust. We were on the first floor, each roon had a small patio however the curtains they had provided gave little to no privacy. At night with the lights on in the room, you could practically see through them. For the pice they charge for a nights stay it was horrible! We would not recommend!!

Although the property is listed as “pet friendly” on Expedia, I was charged an extra $250 fee for traveling with my well-behaved, clean, and quiet dog. The receptionist informed me they only have 4 pet friendly rooms on the whole property and apparently I wasn’t staying in one of them. The location of this hotel is great…very close to downtown. But there is no water views except from the front steps. Also, the hotel and rooms need a buff job. The beds were just ok, the walls were very thin so could hear conversations next door and footsteps upstairs, the bathroom was crummy as the tub is worn and needs replacing and there was hair in the tub when we arrived, and the lighting is horrible as not enough lamps so very dark. Overall, it needs updating and a good cleaning.

Everything inside the lodge was fantastic. The deluxe room we had was very nice and clean. The restaurant and the tiki bar were great, all food options were beyond our expectations. Breakfast, coffee and creamer options were very good. Only complaint we have is the pool was COLD. it was 80* and the water was an uncomforable icy cold. A heated pool would've been great. Otherwise, we'll be back in the future.

From the front desk lady, to Mary Ann our first server, to the omelet guy, to our 2nd server, everyone was wonderful and helpful. The grounds are so pretty, along with the tiki bar, and restaurant patios. We ate on site both nights, and the food was really good. The rooms had all the comforts of home, and comfy beds. There is even a comfy game area where we could play cards. Love it here!

We really enjoyed our stay. Very dated, bare-bones lodging but the staff was friendly. Free breakfast included a made-to-order omelette station. It was very good but the wait was ridiculous! The room we had was dingy and smelled of mildew. The carpet was filthy and stained. The bathroom was terrible, the tub was dirty and the kleenex box mounted on the wall was metal and covered in rust. We were on the first floor, each roon had a small patio however the curtains they had provided gave little to no privacy. At night with the lights on in the room, you could practically see through them. For the pice they charge for a nights stay it was horrible! We would not recommend!!

The hotel needs some maintenance such as paint touch ups indoors and out, and the restaurant, lobby and breakfast areas need updated furniture. However, we were very comfortable and the staff was terrific. Drinks, music and dinner on the patio were a highlight on our trip.

Dirty walls in room, dirty and stained carpet in room, dirty bathtub. Brown stained towels and wash cloths. Everything was outdated. Room smelled like stale cigarette smoke. Only answer to help came on second d night when we had to get a new key card and they were like oh btw we heard you weren’t happy. After hotels.com told us they had contacted the hotel and they offered nothing for us. Property says they weren’t contacted until next day. I’m not sure who’s lying. From the photos and description and price in comparison to other properties I expected it to be a resort property not a run down filthy crap hole. Staff was friendly but not sure why they didn’t offer partial refund considering what we were charged and how it was not what was advertised. Might be the owner who is a possible slum landlord type and is trying to pinch every cent they can out of the place.
