I was traveling through CT, stopped here overnight...hotel is conveniently located right off the highway. Very clean, very comfortable bed...my room could have used more lighting... namely, a lamp on the desk to get some work done after dark. Otherwise, this Quality Inn room was just right.

My friend and I planned a girls weekend in Old Saybrook and choose the Quality Inn. When we arrived the lobby and front desk are well kept and inviting, but that was the end of it. The front desk clerk was rather curt and annoyed by us chatting while she remained on her phone for at least 5 minutes. When she was done with her call she checked us in and we went to our room. The hallways were damp and musty with stained carpets. When we entered our room it was freezing and the room smelled totally musty and felt damp. The room was clean enough, however all the fixtures had rust on the chrome and the lampshades had black mold spots on them. Everything was old and outdated. We checked the beds and they seemed ok so we stayed the night. Next day was raining very heavy and it got so damp in the room papers and book pages were curling up. There was water seeping up throughout the hallway carpet and leaks coming down by the pool. We went to the front desk to have our room changed and the clerk unapologetically told us it was raining very hard out. But she did charge our room and the second floor did not seem quite as damp. It seems as if this property is just being run into the ground. The outside is dirty with rotting trim along the roof line, and there are no updates on the interior whatsoever. On a positive note, breakfast was ok (just don’t eat the powdered eggs ) and all the help from the kitchen was very good. I cannot recommend staying here.

Everything was great, especially the breakfast. I have only one suggestion: Include NESN on your TV. I would have liked to see the Red Sox games.

Hotel is simple. Basic standard hotel. It has everything that you need. I really appreciated the large refrigerator in our room. They had a little area open downstairs 24 hours a day where you could get bottles of water or drinks or snacks. The only issue we had was that our toilet was running in our room was a little bit musty. But we would stay there again. Staff was very helpful.
