Couples trip to Lake Placid with a lovely stay at Eastwind Hotel which was just outside the busier downtown but very easily accessible/walkable. We were there for 2 nights with a busy agenda and sadly did not take advantage of the fire pit, complimentary smores or sauna. The staff was helpful making recommendations about dinner location and if asked seemed very knowledgeable about the area and could have helped with hikes etc too. Our room was fun and retro. The location was quiet and we rested well after long days. The only detriment for some would be the lack of elevator to get to the second floor. If we return to Lake Placid we would definitely stay again and hopefully have the time and energy to take advantage of the extras!

After driving 4 1/2 hours, we had to drag our large bags thru crushed stone in the dark in order to reach our room. Once inside, there was no luggage rack to put a suitcase on, so we plopped them at the end of the bed. The sink was a large, metal oval that took up most of the vanity in the bath, leaving a few of inches on either side for a razor, hairbrush, blow dryer, etc. so I had to either put everything on the floor next to the sink or walk back & forth between the bath & bed area to get ready. No shower, just a pretty tub without a curtain to keep you warm. The all brass plug for the tub fit VERY loosely within the drain & so did not hold securely; as you are running the water, you can hear it leaking down the drain, so bathe FAST! The open tub area was chilly, so we thought we'd start the gas fireplace, five feet away in order to stay warm, but the remote didn't work so my husband trudges from our room up to the office (in a separate building) only to learn that the gas to our room is off, so they will bring a space heater by in a few minutes. We wait and wait; at least 20 minutes but no one shows and since we were hungry, we left to find food. Two hours later we return but there is still no space heater outside the door nor in the room, so my husband must once again walk to the other bdg. for the heater so I can take a bath before the wedding that we were in town to attend. Callie (sp?) who checked us in Friday night was lovely and the bed was comfortable.

Very peaceful and a nice central location to all of Lake Placid activities. Doors are a bit tough and it’s difficult to drag suitcases since it’s all gravel. Would stay again!

Unique resort with mid century modern room. There are also stand alone cottage room as well. Excellent staff service and amenities. Free bicycle rental and barrel sauna and fire pit were excellent. highly recommended
