Terrific small hotel. Decor is terrific, rooms and lounge are extremely attractive, clean, and comfortable. staff is capable and friendly. Fun art in the lounge and lobby. Street parking was easy. Our favorite hotel in the NY area out of many we have visited. Price is reasonable for the superb quality, maybe because there is no breakfast nor bar. But you can bring anything in to enjoy in the beautiful lounge. They have free coffee in the rooms and in the lounge, and reasonably priced drinks and snacks at the front desk. A deli on the corner and good restaurants in easy walking distance. Near subway to Manhattan and the other boroughs. We are former NYers and like the Long Island City vibe. Out of towners may need a ritzier neighborhood.

Parking was a couple of blocks away but we found a space on the street practically across from the hotel. Room was lovely and staff was kind and efficient. Would have enjoyed someplace to eat or shop nearby but it was a completely residential area.

The staff are engaging and very helpful— thank you Elena and Sophia for making us feel so at home! This hotel is located in a place with easy access to the subway. While there is no on-site parking, it was wonderful to have a safe place to park the car right nearby, and for an amazing rate! Our room was clean and had everything we needed — and more. It was great to have dishes, glasses, cutlery, etc. so that we could easily eat food we brought in. (It might be nice to have dish soap in the kitchen area, though.) The robes and slippers were an added bonus! We had a wonderful visit in NYC and when we return we will definitely book at this hotel again.

Will definitely be back!! ONLY complaint I have is the amount for the incidental fee. $350 is a bit absurd, I have never been charged more than $150. But that is literally my only complaint. Place is clean, friendly staff, beautiful room! Excellent!

Our host was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Since this was an unfamiliar neighborhood, we really appreciated the welcome and guidance. We loved our room! We were disappointed that there wasn't a roof deck as advertised. We liked that they featured a local artist in their public lounge space.

The hidden fees are outrageous!! $350 per night incidental deposit $75 fee to check in early between 12-2 $75 fee per our for late check out fee (Yes Per Hr) No vending available The first room we were in didn’t have any outlets next to the bed, only 1 by the tv, so we were upgraded to suite that was better but the electric shades did not cover the windows in its entirety so light came in. Just not a good experience all the way around!

Great stay in the King Suite; it looks exactly like the pictures! Very comfortable for hanging out in living and kitchen area, good mattress on the bed. We arrived early, dropped off luggage, and it was brought to our room before we checked in later. There is a nice room with water and coffee on the first floor, as well as a small fitness room. Free parking on the street was easy (check street cleaning signs). Close to Queensboro Plaza with a variety of subway lines for commuting around the city.

Property was easy to find. There’s street parking but if you come back late at night, it’s harder to find parking. Front desk was friendly. We booked a king bedroom and when we got in, it smelled like weed and cigarettes even though they tried to mask the smell with a citrus spray in the room. I was allergic to smoke so I stood outside while my partner called the front desk if we could switch to a different room. The front desk was accommodating and switched us to a king suite on the 4th floor. This room didn’t have any bad scent. It had a couch and the leather couch was sinked in. There’s ac and heat you could adjust. It came with bath robes, towels, toiletries, slippers, has eating utensils. Some of the towels have stains. The bathroom had a very mild mildew and urine scent. The bed sheets were clean with no hair. This hotel is very quiet and was able to get some sleep in. I appreciate they had a firm pillow available and the bed was also firm. I would recommend it for 1-2 night stay. It is very close to manhattan and also flushing driving distance.

Horrible stay. I wanted to stay here for a while seeing the photos advertised online. To my surprise it was dirty and not well kept up. The walls were quite literally falling apart - the wall on the inside of the room that is connected to the patio had a deteriorating hole that you could litterally push and it was soggy. The pint was bubble from when they renovated. The shower dirty with epoxy and hair. The shower curtain was filthy. It had a yellow brown stain all over it. Stain on the bathroom door. Horrible horrible stay. We checked out after the first night (checked in at 10pm left at 8am from traveling into nyc) and they still charged us for 2 nights after that. Horrible experience will never suggest to anyone. Don’t let pictures fool you. Horrible hotel. Even when I complained they had no solution for the dirty room - I took pictures and they had no one to email or file a complaint to. Horrible horrible hotel all around.

Convenient location -- 5 min Uber drive or 15-min walk from Queens Plaza subway station. Area felt safe, especially during the day. The property overall is clean. I took a star off cleanliness because my room could have used a good vacuuming. No carpet in room (which is great) but the floor was somewhat dusty. The area that could have used deeper cleaning was the bathroom -- rust/mold stains on the shower curtain. On the second day, housekeeping replaced dirty towels. One of the towels was still damp and smelled mildewy. Front desk took note and replaced all towels. The building at night can be noisy. On the first night, either someone in the building or outside was blasting a sermon and then music. That went from 11pm for about an hour. I was too tired from my trip, that didn't have the energy to notify the front desk. Aside from those 2 situations, our stay overall was pleasant. Comfortable beds, crisp/clean linens, spacious and sunny room. Dark shades at night. I would stay here again. Plenty of restaurants Within 15-min walk. Easy access to Manhattan as well. Within 30-min I was in Chelsea Market.

Mostly enjoyed the space which was cool and unique but a bunch of trash under bed and false $380 charge for smoking in room which never happened. Especially after the front desk told me no smoking at check-in so I feel a bit scammed.

Photos are much better than the actual rooms. The whole building smells like pee. Terrible mattresses and beds, we could barely walk from the back pain. AC didn’t work well. The room had flies in it. Truly a a disappointment.

Lovely rooms ( I stayed in two because my work trip was unexpectedly extended) with stylish decor and great views. Would definitely stay again! Staff was helpful and responsive. They made a billing error but corrected it right away once I inquired. Easy to walk to bijou restaurants and a corner market. 10-12 min walk to the subway.

Absolutely wonderful hotel with spacious, clean rooms, an incredibly warm and welcoming staff, and an art gallery that was the perfect place to enjoy a morning latte. I loved the residential feeling of the neighborhood (made me miss living in Queens) and how close we were to multiple trains and Manhattan. We even purchased some art from the gallery to take home with us. If you like to sleep in late, consider bringing a sleep mask because the rooms get amazing natural light in the morning. We will absolutely be returning!

This is a small, quiet hotel with limited service. The staff is generally fine, but nothing exceptional. One major issue is the poor room insulation — sound easily travels between rooms, which can be disruptive. Overall, it’s a basic place that works if you’re not expecting too much.
This is a small, quiet hotel with limited service. The staff is generally fine, but nothing exceptional. One major issue is the poor room insulation — sound easily travels between rooms, which can be disruptive. Overall, it’s a basic place that works if you’re not expecting too much.

The staff was very nice. The artificial flowers and overpowering room freshener when first entering the building were very off-putting. The room was very spacious but a little worn. The blinds over the cinder block window did not work so our room was pretty well illuminated throughout the night. The people in the room next door to us started playing loud music with a heavy bass at 12:30 AM. The beds were hard and the pillows were really uncomfortable. Overall, it was ok but definitely not worth the price. I don't think we will be staying there again.

We loved our home away from home. What a unique find! It was amazing to have a separate living room and kitchen area, not to mention a huge private patio that was especially amazing lit up at night, with views. We were wowed! All this for a very reasonable price. An incredible find. Plus the staff is super friendly, and the lobby doubles as an art gallery. SO cool. The neighborhood felt very safe and walkable and had a great vibe. It was easy to get to the subway or go eat nearby. We would definitely stay here again. I think it was supposed to be able to sleep 3 if you included the couch, but I don't think that was realistic for our particular room.

A hidden gem. Don't stay at outrageously priced hotels in Manhattan. Instead stay here where it's just a 5 minute walk to a train station that will get you into the heart of Manhattan within 15-20 minutes. The hotel itself was lovely and I was impressed with the amount of space my and my friend had in the twin room... especially since it's New York! (our previous stay before this was in a cramped room that was half the size for almost the same price).

Great stay in the King Suite; it looks exactly like the pictures! Very comfortable for hanging out in living and kitchen area, good mattress on the bed. We arrived early, dropped off luggage, and it was brought to our room before we checked in later. There is a nice room with water and coffee on the first floor, as well as a small fitness room. Free parking on the street was easy (check street cleaning signs). Close to Queensboro Plaza with a variety of subway lines for commuting around the city.

Lovely rooms ( I stayed in two because my work trip was unexpectedly extended) with stylish decor and great views. Would definitely stay again! Staff was helpful and responsive. They made a billing error but corrected it right away once I inquired. Easy to walk to bijou restaurants and a corner market. 10-12 min walk to the subway.

Just not a good experience all the way around!

The property itself outside looks awful with faux flowers around the door that look like they've been there for decades, faded and ragged. The inside of the property was clean and I appreciated that. However, service was terrible. they wouldn't accommadate early check-in, nor late check-out. And if they had, there would charge extra. We stayed overnight and never saw any other visitors, so them claiming they were too busy for changing check in/out times were bogus. For an expensive night they failed on any courtesy arrangements. I would never go there again!

Very nice property. Quiet, semi-residential neighborhood. Plenty of places to eat nearby and very convenient to subway (N,W,7). Its about a 15 min train ride into the city, but value (cost/room size) more than makes up for it

Not very many walkable locations for eating however, very close to public transportation amazing property. If you’re going to the city and you have a car easy street parking with no charge and beautiful facilities nicely decorated all the basic amenities necessary are there.

My wife and I went to New York for my little vacation. We decided to pick the Modernist Hotel to stay. We stayed for 3 days and everything was so convenient. The hotel is close to the subway, and many different types of restaurants for us to choose from. Will do it again when we get back to New York.

The lobby/recreation area is absolutely beautiful! Very quiet as well. The room itself was tastefully decorated, huge and convenient with a kitchenette, table for 3 and balcony. Probably the prettiest hotel we have stayed at and we are constant travelers. I would definitely recommend this hotel. There is a deli right on the corner, and many restaurants in the area. Finding parking on the street was easy. 10 stars!

Terrific small hotel. Decor is terrific, rooms and lounge are extremely attractive, clean, and comfortable. staff is capable and friendly. Fun art in the lounge and lobby. Street parking was easy. Our favorite hotel in the NY area out of many we have visited. Price is reasonable for the superb quality, maybe because there is no breakfast nor bar. But you can bring anything in to enjoy in the beautiful lounge. They have free coffee in the rooms and in the lounge, and reasonably priced drinks and snacks at the front desk. A deli on the corner and good restaurants in easy walking distance. Near subway to Manhattan and the other boroughs. We are former NYers and like the Long Island City vibe. Out of towners may need a ritzier neighborhood.

The hotel is in an industrial portion of Queens but Uber friendly to Brooklyn and Manhattan. The hotel room I had was gorgeous (2 Queen Beds with glass sliding doors leading to a small balcony). The mini kitchenette was very convenient and they provide glassware and dishware.

Parking was a couple of blocks away but we found a space on the street practically across from the hotel. Room was lovely and staff was kind and efficient. Would have enjoyed someplace to eat or shop nearby but it was a completely residential area.

We really enjoyed this cozy boutique hotel. Friendly staff. Quiet and comfortable, with quick ride by Lyft or subway to sights and sounds of NYC (without the noise and bustle when you want to sleep!). There are only a few rooms per floor -- felt like a private apartment. A corner deli about 50 feet from the door, which was handy. The room could use a few more outlets next to the bed and maybe a few more amenities in the kitchenette. But otherwise a great stay.

The staff are engaging and very helpful— thank you Elena and Sophia for making us feel so at home! This hotel is located in a place with easy access to the subway. While there is no on-site parking, it was wonderful to have a safe place to park the car right nearby, and for an amazing rate! Our room was clean and had everything we needed — and more. This is a great place to stay in Long Island City. It was a 15-30 minute drive from Citi Field, depending on the time of day. There was parking about 2 blocks away that was convenient. The area feels comfortable. We were up early and took a walk to find a breakfast place. Most things in the area do not open till about 8am. That being said, if you needed a bite to eat, they had some muffins and cookies at the check-in area that looked very good. The staff was personal and responsive. Everything was great and the place was very cute!

Exceeded expectations, very close to two different subway lines, easy to get to Manhattan or Flushing. Nice to have a kitchen with dishes. Comfortable bed! I’d stay here again because it’s an excellent value. Neighborhood is safe, convenience store nearby.

I traveled with my husband and teen daughter to NYC for the first time. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived about a hour early and they got us checked in right away as our room was ready. The room was very clean and well maintained. There was a nice view. I appreciated having a little extra room with a couch and a small table- other places to sit than just a bed. I liked the kitchenette with a moderately sized refrigerator for snacks and drinks. There is a bodega on the corner with a deli which we found very convenient. There is a subway station close which made it easy to get in and out of the city. The hotel is not fancy, so if you are looking for a large hotel with a doorman like in the movies, this is not it. It is however a reasonable, affordable choice. We enjoyed our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were soft. It was a comfortable stay after a long day of sightseeing. We didn’t use any of the amenities so I can’t speak to those.

The hotel is not fancy, so if you are looking for a large hotel with a doorman like in the movies, this is not it. It is however a reasonable, affordable choice. We enjoyed our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were soft. It was a comfortable stay after a long day of sightseeing. We didn’t use any of the amenities so I can’t speak to those.
