Royal Inn Clearfield

The room was spacious and had a nice kitchen! Parking was great!

Older and basic as expected, but fulfilled its purpose. Next to a restaurant and other options nearby. Hardest mattress I can remember though. Fridge, microwave and TV worked.

This time there was a stink in the room that was subtle but still unpleasant. The shower could use some rehab. (Black grout.)

Room was smelling air conditioner tripping every five minutes tv not working and to check in it took 45 minutes as nobody was there at check in

Can smell smoke in the room from people having stayed before. AC unit leaks water in the room soaking the caroet 3’ X 3’ area

The room was very comfortable and clean. Parking was convenient. Office staff was very helpful.

The decor of this hotel is dated, but comfortable. There is no breakfast, but there is a restaurant next door. The room fridge is noisy, but things were clean and the right price.

The employee at the front desk was very nice and it seems she was running the hotel all by herself.The restaurant next door was ok for breakfast and gave us 10% off as clients of the hotel. Hotel had a 3 bed suite that was perfect for our needs. Very accommodating, let us leave our trailer for 4 days before coming back.

The lobby was full of angry customers all without air conditioning . We called the Expedia number to see where we could go and got disconnected 4 times so we finally gave up and stayed somewhere else . Please have a manager contact us asap . We want our money refunded as we were never able to even check in or stay there .

Our room had cockroaches in it. Not very clean at all. Someone definitely needs to teach them how to clean properly.

The first room we got had bugs in it . Second room wasn’t as bad bedding had burn holes in it . Wasn’t very clean. I wouldn’t stay here again .

Excellent property very clean

Counted 6 roaches within minutes, walls dirty and ashes in the trash. I did not end up staying here. I left and ept in my car

The sheets were full of hair. We were given replacement sheets to make the bed over. The bathroom walls and doors were absolutely filthy and needed patchwork. The sheets and towels were old & thread bare and had some holes in them. The tv remote was missing but the friendly & helpful attendant had it in her car so she brought it to us immediately! The room had an awful musty smell so we turned on the air conditioner to help a little with it. I wish I would have taken pictures to post here!

A little better cleaning (mostly good)

Dirty room, mold on bathtub walls, bathroom ceiling fan stopped working, mystery liquid dried on the walls here & there. Air conditioner would run fine til 2 am then just shut off. Front desk wasn’t very friendly.

Everything was clean the bed was soo comfortable and the water pressure was perfect .

Run down but clean.

I would never stay here again. Dingy, felt unsafe, stained sheets, dirty bathroom, dark, dated, horrible, couldn't wait to leave!!!!

Old school mom and pop hotel. Large room, comfy bed, hot shower with great water pressure, great wi-fi. Lots of channels on tv, fridge and microwave. Have stayed before amd will stay again.

Check in took 1/2 hour. Desk was not staffed had to hit ring button. Still no answer. Had to call first phone #, no answer. Called 2nd phone number lady answered said he would be right down. No show, 15 min later called again, she said she will be there in 5 minutes there was an emergency. She finally showed up, then I had to pay for towels. 4 people in room, they only give 2 towels. Had to pay $4 for a set of towels. Also only allowed 2 rolls of toilet paper. We bought our own. Non smoking room, maintenance person in next room stood outside and smoked it came in through the air conditioner. It was cheap, and pretty clean - looks like they tried.

Video doorbell in office for checkin. No one answered for close to 10 minutes. After check-in we had no toilet paper and no power cord for the tv. Repeatedly called the office with no answer. A permanent resident next door knew how to reach the management so he called to get toilet paper.

Worst room & service EVER!! After a four hour drive to Clearfield we arrived at the “Royal” Inn about 9:00 pm & checked in. Went to our room as soon as we opened the door and the odor of a 2 pack a day chain smoker hit you! My wife and I are former smokers but the room just stank! There was no way we could have slept in that room. We returned to the desk and we told the room didn’t smell like smoke. The manager said they did have an emergency room but it was more money and asked if we could afford it (what audacity) he wouldn’t show us the room until we paid a the higher price. After our first experience this motel was not getting another dime out of us if we couldn’t check out the replacement room. We demanded our money back and were told that since we booked it through Expedia they wouldn’t refund us. So we left and went to the Holiday Inn Express in Clearfield and rented a room 3 times the price & it was worth every penny. We called Expedia the next day and they told us the Royal Inn had to approve the refund. The Royal Inn wouldn’t approve it and said we wouldn’t accept the emergency room because it cost more. We then spoke with a manager at Expedia who called the hotel again to try to get our refund approved. The Royal Inn then told them we didn’t complain about a smoke smell, we complained about a fly in the room. Such LIARS!!! Expedia offered a $50 credit for the trouble. BS!! Our advice to anyone considering staying at this dump, avoid it like the plague.

Very clean, older motel. Had a difficult time finding someone to check in with.

AVOID THIS PLACE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY! I stayed here last night. I am a single traveler. I fell asleep around 10 p.m. and woke up at 12:20 a.m. I laid there a second trying to figure out what woke me when I realized someone was jiggling the doorknob of my room! I quickly sat up in bed, grabbed my glasses, and the door opened and a blond haired woman poked her head in! I let out a blood curdling scream and she quickly slammed the door shut after saying she was there to make up the room. At 12:20 am??? I was terrified! The rooms do not have chain locks or flip bars to lock from the inside! I ended up dragging the room furniture over to barricade the room and got NO SLEEP the rest of the night. This place is NOT SAFE ESPECIALLY FOR GUESTS STAYING ALONE!!! Expedia should not list this property. That woman is very lucky my pistol was not on the night stand.

We needed a stopover for a long drive to New York. Although this motel is showing some age, it fit the bill for us. Check in staff was very nice and the room was very clean and safe. This was a fair value for the money.

The showers head was strong the location was good and bed was ok for a nights rest.

We looking for cheap night to sleep and the Royal Inn delivered. Decent bang for your buck… just keep in mind what your are paying. Basics were all good - clean, quiet (for us), and a place to stop for the night.

After check-in, room was not ready, so we went out to eat. On return, room was nicely set up. Property is old, but room looked freshly painted, remodeled bath and sink. A bit far from the interstate, but the price is the attraction. Looking for a cheap, one night stay? Pick this.

Classic roadside motel and a great bargain. I always stay here when racing at UMI Motorsports Park. It's on the opposite side of town, but it is quiet and cozy. There is a great breakfast place next door and a DQ a short walk away.

The room was very dingy. The area was totally unsafe. Someone opened our door at 5:00 am in the morning. Where did they get a key card for our room? we were unable to sleep we did not know if someone was coming back later to brake in. I would not recommend this place to anyone even if it was free.

Good price and only a short drive to State College. Several dining options within a few miles, and microwave in the room. Maybe not the fanciest of hotels, but if you're just looking for a place to spend the night & shower in the morning, you can't beat the value.

The hotel is close to everything and close to where we were working so it made it very convenient I especially liked the shower I had in my room!!!

It is the Tajmahal, but it's easy to get to. Language barrier is a problem. No hot coffee or anything else as far as amenities.(I think it was the same cold coffee all 3 mornings!) It's fine, but better places closer to Benezette. Price was great, but you get what you pay for!

The stay is cheap, and you get what you pay for, but be aware that the shower walls have mildew in the edges and nails used in a few spots to hold in place, no silicone over nails or nail holes, so water is getting behind the walls. Floor looks like they attempted an update for the first part, then gave up and left gaps between new flooring and old floor still in place. And this is 2024, and not 1 single usb in sight, being your own.

The bathtub had so much soap scum on it that it looked like black steaks on it the door would not lock with the dead bolt. There was no coffee or pasties in the morning We where very disappointed with this hotel

The property felt very seedy. The kind of place that people live in that dont have a home.They claim internet, morning coffee and pastries.They had none. The good part was that it was an inexpensive place to sleep for the night to break up a long drive.
