We spent five nights at the hotel. Without a shadow of a doubt, it is the best hotel in the La Fortuna region. We stayed in one of the chalets, which have been renovated, and all the finishes are of excellent quality. The biggest issue is that the entire property is currently undergoing renovations, which creates a lot of noise for guests who want to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. This is definitely not a good time of year for that: it is high season, and all accommodations were fully booked. Very positive points include the cleanliness and the politeness of the hotel staff. Very negative points are the pool, which is very poor and outdated and in need of a major renovation. The food at the main restaurant is also quite weak. The hotel needs to invest heavily in its restaurants, especially considering that the property is at least a 20-minute drive from other dining options. The property has a lot of potential.

The property is glorious nestled in a tropical rainforest. We enjoyed exploring the trails out to the waterfall and Ceiba tree. Amazing surroundings, excellent dining, perfect on-site hot springs to enjoy on demand. In addition to this, we were supported by the hotel team to help us with some rental car trouble while we were there. They went out of their way to assist us, implement a quick repair and got us on our way! Without this dedication to their guests our whole vacation could have been ruined. I highly recommend this property. Thank you Fabian, for your dedication to your guests!

Excelente resort para descansar y desconectarte. Todo el predio es hermoso, se pueden recorrer senderos, puentes y estar en sus aguas termales. El único detalle es que estas últimas no están tan calientes, pero esto puede ser una ventaja porque puedes pasar mas tiempo en ellas, sin que sea incómodo, y además, tiene servicio de bebidas !!

We’ve just finished 7 wonderful and relaxing days here. First and foremost the staff here are kind, friendly, and accommodating. The campus as a whole is lush and well cared for. There is a never ending variety of birds to see and hear. A group of howler monkeys spend a significant amount of time each day around the wooden viewing bridge. We heard their haunting calls almost every evening and morning. While hard to find we did see a sloth near the same bridge on our first full day here. You truly do feel at the edge of if not in the rainforest. While the facilities are showing some age in a few spots they are aging gracefully. Each cabin is surrounded by tropical plants and feels immediately connected with nature. Early mornings on the porch hammock were wonderful. The hot springs are more warm than hot and felt good after a day of hiking or visiting La Fortuna (25 minute drive away). There is also a natural cold pool with water slide. We enjoyed going back and forth between the refreshing cold pool and the thermal springs. One minor annoyance was the occasional smell of sewage around the outside of the cabins. This must be tough to control in a remote tropical environment. As we expected the rainforest is very wet. It absolutely poured every afternoon. We found this refreshing after the hot and humid morning and early afternoon. In summary our family looks forward to visiting again someday!

Staff were courteous, room was nice with A/C (but no fan in the bathroom), nature trails on property were a bonus, extra activities like the night walk and morning yoga were cool. Tons of exotic animals to see on the property. The one negative thing was that they were doing major construction near the two restaurants which was not expected and super loud from 9am- past sun down. They had the water shut off to the 2 water slides on the last day too due to the construction. It's also a far drive to excursions in La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano.

Overall this place was picturesque... everyone was very helpful went out of their way to make sure everything was just right. The only complaints I have, they were repairing the walkway lights, it was very dark at night, thank God I had a flashlight on my phone. But I did pass an elderly couple who are trying to find their room so I help them. Also their tools were left laying around. This is only temporary but it did kind of catch me off guard for such a great looking, well kept facility.

Truly a unique experience. The hot springs were a great way to relax after a busy day hiking/adventuring. The staff was overall very good. I can only imagine, it's hard to keep up with this place due to it's location and the ever changing weather in CR. A couple things I noticed. The pool was in disrepair. They seem a little short staffed during breakfast. Overall, though, I highly recommend it. It's a memorable hotel/experience.

We were two moms with two kids (11 and 16) and this hotel checked all the boxes for us. Adventure (horseback riding, nature walks, water slides), nature (everywhere) and relaxation (hot springs, hammock, nice dining). Everyone on staff was super nice and welcoming and so were the other guests. It's a little remote but it made us feel like we were sometimes staying by ourselves in the rainforest. Our favorite place when we visited CR!

Husband and I had a pleasant stay at chachagua. We arrived late at night and was greeted at the front desk with hand towels and fruit juice. Checking in was smooth and we were escorted to our bungalow (make sure to have a high car as you will drive through a low river). Bungalow was private and very clean. The room was cleaned daily and there was eco friendly hair products and toiletries. Room has a mini fridge, coffee maker and fresh water daily. Continental breakfast was amazing - at a restaurant on premises. Great selection! The springs were great- wasn’t a lot of people and we were able to enjoy it solo. The resort was beautiful and tranquil. You can hear the animals throughout the day esp the monkeys in the morning. We didnt get to see the monkey but we did see a sloth up in the tree- thanks to Ruben (who btw gave a great coffee/ chocolate tour). Big thank you to all the staff members- from the gentleman who greets you when entering, front desk staff, house keeping, and restaurant waiters/waitresses. All very pleasant and super helpful when we had any questions or concerns. Pura Vida. :)

The room was ok, very clean. There was a methane smell several times, however the staff was quick to respond. The staff and the grounds were excellent! Hot springs were very nice, as was the included breakfast. The rooms are separate cottages set back in the jungle, which was very cool. There is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the cottages. Was fine for us, but probably not handicapped friendly

Very nice hotel, comfortable in and out. Waking up to sounds of wildlife was amazing! Only minor issue was with the room lavatory. Overall such a unique experience. Would definitely recommend.

Trotz anfänglicher Schwierigkeiten mit Warmwasser und Internetverbindung hat uns das Hotel mit einem kostenlosen Zimmer-Upgrade sehr entgegengekommen. Insgesamt ein stilvolles und sauberes Hotel inmitten der Natur mit aufmerksamem und freundlichem Service. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt dennoch genossen.

Our room was extremely outdated, dark, and uninviting. The beds were uncomfortable, the plumbing was old and leaky, and overall, the accommodations felt neglected. It did not match the expectations set by the hotel’s reputation. We also found the food to be mediocre at best, which led us to drive 30 minutes into town just to get a decent meal—not ideal when you’re hoping for a relaxing stay. Perhaps we were just unlucky and were given one of the oldest bungalows, but our experience was disappointing enough that we would not recommend this hotel to friends or family. Honestly, we couldn’t wait to check out. I’m surprised by the glowing reviews calling this the best hotel of their Costa Rican trip—it certainly wasn’t for us.

The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and in such a unique location. Each bungalow really transports you to a secluded little world in the jungle. The forest on the property was breath taking. A wonderful experience. The staff was welcoming, happy to help with all of our questions, and easily set up off-site activities (ziplining, rafting) and transportation to La Fortuna for dinner/shopping.

Beautiful lodges in the rain forest , beautiful trails 2KM around the property which are nice to explore with a tropical farm at the end. Lodges are nice and clean but a little dark inside. Restaurants are great, drinks are excellent. The grounds need a little tlc ei the pool but the thermal pools were very nice. Nice area to see wildlife, toucans, sloths, agouti etc

The hot tub in our room was fantastic! The privacy for the rooms with hot tubs really needs to be improved. The outdoor shower is cool, but not when people can see you from both sides! Same for the hot tub. It also would have been a lot nicer if you could drive yourself to and from your room versus waiting for someone else to get you, especially since sometimes the wait time was lengthy. The hot springs would be more enjoyable if they weren’t right beside the restaurant due to noise and people just sitting there watching you. The water temperature was very relaxing and the water slide into the pool was awesome! Overall the hotel was nice, I just wish privacy would have been considered more in the treehouse room design.

Friendly and accommodating staff, great room. The trails are beautiful. We took a night hike and spotted many frogs and insects. During the day we walked the trails and saw a variety of birds and plants. The staff goes above and beyond to provide great service.

A very well maintained and decorated resort. Very peaceful and quiet with many options for wildlife viewing. Room was very comfortable and lots of options available in the resort. Extremely disappointing staff members. Very rude and unprofessional. Restaurant staff have no courtesy of smiling, they have a bad attitude and seems like they are fed up with their work. Front desk team was very disappointing as well.

This was my wife and I second trip to the La Fortuna area. Chachagua is a quaint town a little south and the resort was way off the beaten path in the middle of the rainforest. This was the first time for my mom and her best friend. Just off foot surgery and still a little sore/ swollen. The resort staff went overboard to accommodate her with a shower seat. Use of their wheelchair so she could get around when tired and just amazing every day. The food was top notch, free breakfast was awesome. My family would highly recommended a visit. If you have a chance to visit say hi to Anthony, Patricia, Gettchen with two t’s, Sofia, Lorenzo, Kevin, Pamela, Karen, Jonathan, Kristal, Maicol ( hope you catch some big fish) and Dennis. The ownership should be proud of every one of you. Thank you The Lyle family

From the moment I arrived, I was completely enchanted by the lush rainforest surroundings. Loved this stay. My wife and I travel to Arenal area every year and have been exploring all of the thermal resorts. This is an absolute favorite. Amazing service, the bungalows feel secluded, great menus, fair drink prices, just an all around winner. This will be added to our yearly itinerary.

We had a great time from Fabian at reception to check out. The only issue I had is there no store within walking distance. Gilbert took us to the volcano, bridges and the cooking class. He went above and beyond. He was very knowledgeable and took time to explain what he showed us

The staff at the restaurants were excellent! They were extremely helpful, happy and accommodating. The pools were great especially the hot pools. The ambiance and the grounds were beautiful. I would have given it a 5 star, but our room was supposed to have 2 queen beds and instead it had a king. I complained and their solution was to bring in a twin bed.

We love you Patricia and minor. Beautiful stay. Transportation can be an issue if you do not have a car. Everyone in Costa Rica was so welcoming and accommodating. Definitely a memorable experience.

Definintely a Eco Jungle experience. Located on top of a mountain, right in the middle of a rainforest. Bungalows were great, the outside patio was used every morning and night by our party, Howling Monkeys, exotic birds and other animals can be seen on property, bc it really is in the Rainforest. Staff exceptionally friendly, Breakfast was actually delicious. Dinner was very good, I did not have lunch there but my kids said it was very good. As, I said it is on top of the mountain, so its a long, winding road with lots of curves, dips and stops; daughter got sick on the drive there ( motion sickness), but it was well worth it ( my daughter agrees). Definitely , need a car bc it is a long drive and about 25 minutes from La Fortuna ( they tourist town near the Volcano). Only complaint, a fruit drops from the trees every day, and sometimes not picked up right away; so in the morning , at times, a too sweet, rotting, smell would be on some paths, but not overpowering , just annoying. Excellent experience

If you want unique and private experience in the middle of the rain forest, this is the place. The room was really phenomenal. The closest town is 25 minutes away so be prepared to spend some time on the way to and from La Fortuna if you want to do any excursions.

This place was awesome. Super remote but also super clean, safe, and fun. Cabins were maintained and clean. The on-site restaurants were great. It’s 30 minutes from anywhere so plan on spending time on the property.

First off let me say if you’ve never been to Costa Rica before, do your homework, and don’t believe anything a resort tells you. No place is easy to get to, and Chachagua is the worst. I’d only stay here 2 nights tops, and better plan on not going anywhere unless the resort staff approve. There’s some kind of major racket going on between them and transportation companies, tour companies. I can’t speak for all of Costa Rica, but these folks were judgy-gossips. My bff and never get wasted, but during our 1trip together a year, we like to let loose a bit, this place act like nuns at my all girls high school. They have 1 pool if you want to call it that. It’s more like a 2ft kiddie pool with only 2, yes I said 2 lounging chaises. The bungalows were ok, but the beds are like rocks. If you forget to tip your housekeeper for 1 day, be prepared to not have toilet paper or towels. Also the on-resort activities are not great. The way they treat their horses is sad. They advertise that it’s an easy commute to La Fortuna or Arenal, but it will cost you $100 USD to get there one way. Stay in the La Fortuna or Arenal for a few days and then move on to one of the coasts

The hotel is in a secluded location, which is exactly what we were looking for. There is only one restaurant, but they offer enough variety for the four nights we stayed. The bungalows offer great privacy in beautiful grounds surrounded by the forest, and there are loads of fauna sighting opportunities.

We spent five nights at the hotel. Without a shadow of a doubt, it is the best hotel in the La Fortuna region. We stayed in one of the chalets, which have been renovated, and all the finishes are of excellent quality. The biggest issue is that the entire property is currently undergoing renovations, which creates a lot of noise for guests who want to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. This is definitely not a good time of year for that: it is high season, and all accommodations were fully booked. Very positive points include the cleanliness and the politeness of the hotel staff. Very negative points are the pool, which is very poor and outdated and in need of a major renovation. The food at the main restaurant is also quite weak. The hotel needs to invest heavily in its restaurants, especially considering that the property is at least a 20-minute drive from other dining options. The property has a lot of potential.

Husband and I had a pleasant stay at chachagua. We arrived late at night and was greeted at the front desk with hand towels and fruit juice. Checking in was smooth and we were escorted to our bungalow (make sure to have a high car as you will drive through a low river). Bungalow was private and very clean. The room was cleaned daily and there was eco friendly hair products and toiletries. Room has a mini fridge, coffee maker and fresh water daily. Continental breakfast was amazing - at a restaurant on premises. Great selection! The springs were great- wasn’t a lot of people and we were able to enjoy it solo. The resort was beautiful and tranquil. You can hear the animals throughout the day esp the monkeys in the morning. We didnt get to see the monkey but we did see a sloth up in the tree- thanks to Ruben (who btw gave a great coffee/ chocolate tour). Big thank you to all the staff members- from the gentleman who greets you when entering, front desk staff, house keeping, and restaurant waiters/waitresses. All very pleasant and super helpful when we had any questions or concerns. Pura Vida. :)

We loved staying here. Staff was all super amazing and the grounds were gorgeous. I liked both their casual bar area and nicer restaurant for dinner. It was nice being close enough to go to La fortuna but not in the craziness.

This was the most beautiful, most relaxing, and friendliest place ever. All the staff were so kind and welcoming. Upon checking in, the staff had drinks and towels for us. They showed us to our room and explained how organic and eco friendly everything was. Our room was private with a patio that had a hammock. The pools were clean and relaxing. Not crowded. The food was delicious, they were constantly feeding us. It rained during our trip but it was still so relaxing and we were still able to squeeze in a lot. We did horse back riding, hiked the property on our own, swam. Everything was clean. The staff were so kind and always made sure we were taken care of. I would come back again for a longer stay!

Amazing included breakfast - enjoyed trail to Falls inside property - 15 min - loved to hang out in the morning on the private patio with hammock. Enjoyed our swim in the hotsprings - not very hot - enjoyed by our biys 10 and 14 ages. A mini Tabacon Springs i must say - beautiful!

Loved our stay here - we were woken up by monkeys one day! Great food, amazing hot springs, great property tour; kiddos loved it. Only about 20 mins drove from La Fortuna.

The highlight of this hotel is definitely the hot springs and water slides—they’re well-maintained and fun for both kids and adults. Our room was extremely outdated, dark, and uninviting. The beds were uncomfortable, the plumbing was old and leaky, and overall, the accommodations felt neglected. It did not match the expectations set by the hotel’s reputation. We also found the food to be mediocre at best, which led us to drive 30 minutes into town just to get a decent meal—not ideal when you’re hoping for a relaxing stay. Perhaps we were just unlucky and were given one of the oldest bungalows, but our experience was disappointing enough that we would not recommend this hotel to friends or family. Honestly, we couldn’t wait to check out. I’m surprised by the glowing reviews calling this the best hotel of their Costa Rican trip—it certainly wasn’t for us.

We had a fantastic time at Chachagua Rainforest Hotel. The resort is located in beautiful surroundings and we found the staff very helpful and friendly. While the resort felt nestled in remote surroundings, we had easy access to trips and adventures within 30-60 minute drives.

Can’t say enough about the staff at Chachagua Rainforest Hotel! They went above and beyond in every situation to make our stay enjoyable! From decorating our room to help us celebrate our honeymoon, to helping us book and adjusting our tours when needed, we couldn’t have asked for more. The resort, rooms, and amenities were all wonderful! We look forward to the opportunity to return one day.

The resort was a good stay but when it rained the room leaked all over our bed. We requested a refund for the night of misery and they told us it would take a day. Its been 10 days and still nothing.

Fantastic property and in a beautiful location in the middle of the rainforest. Lots of activity to do in and around the property in the middle of the rainforest - wildlife watching, ziplining, horseback riding, hiking and much more to do. The rooms are also so set in beautiful surroundings right in the middle of nature. Worth the extra expense and highly recommend for couples and families with kids !

This is definitely a 3 star resort. Nothing about it gives 5 star so please don’t expect it! The staff were sweet and helpful but I’ll tell you to stay here if you would like average over priced American food 😒, WiFi going out every day, an unclean out dated pool, and hard mango’s for a $10 🙄. My family and I spent our last two days at The Spring Resort & Spa at Arenal. It was definitely worth the Money. If you’re looking to enjoy yourself without going out every day this resort is not it. We wasted our money and time booking this resort. This resort is not children friendly and it doesn’t give you a good experience or reputation when it comes to Costa Rica. This was my second experience in Costa Rica. We stayed here to get another resort experience in CR. Big Mistake!!! How and why would you serve American dishes with no other options at a resort in Costa Rica. There’s only two restaurants on the property and they both were over priced with bad food 😩. There’s literally nothing special about this resort. It appears to need a little TLC. The rooms are mid especially compared to The Spring resort and Spa but again they were clean.
