Nous avions la première hutte #1 sur la Lagune près de la réception très bruyant, le lit pas comfortable. Vous devez savoir que cet hôtel n'a pas d'air climatisé, seulement des fans. Après avoir fait le tour de Bacalar, ce restaurant offrait un des menus les plus dispendieux $$$ avec une moin bonne qualité (le seule endroit où nous avons été malade). Nous avions un déjeuner d'inclus (repas d'enfants) et nous devions payer pour un jus d'orange. Au final je suis contente d'y être passé pas plus que 3 nuits, j'avais beaucoup d'attente. Je suis contente de mon expérience mais je ne serai pas pressé d'y retourner. Le site vaut quand même d'être vue.

Had a beautiful stay in one of the lagoon villas. From the moment we arrived staff were incredibly helpful and attended to everything we needed. We took the opportunity to participate in the sound healing ceremony in the beautiful temple, which was a great experience. The grounds are beautiful and create an atmosphere conducive to relaxation. We also booked a couples Thai massage which was excellent. Food and drinks at the restaurant were top quality. Would definitely recommend for those looking to disconnect, slow down and rejuvenate.

Where do I begin? From the moment we arrived it was magical. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful sending menu's for food and spa as well as daily activities straight to your WhatsApp. Then they invited us to do a cleansing / blessing ritual with setting our intentions and copal blessing. Aaron went above and beyond giving us a private tour of the temple! The spa services are also magical! I had the aquatic massage with Diane and it was if she had been specially selected for me. And then we opted for the Sunrise Tour on kayaks and paddleboards with Isaac. He made my birthday so special. So many magical moments. The room was beautiful, the Lagoon was brilliant and the resort was spectacular!! I will be back!

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing place this is it! I am not into yoga but if you are then this is the place for you. The staff are courteous and very helpful and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. We stayed for 3 nights and never left the area. The Lagoon is absolutely gorgeous. I recommend taking the boat tour as Jami was very iformative and friendly.

Most magical and healing experience I’ve had. All therapists are amazing, and the staff was super kind and helpful. Don’t miss paddle boarding with world pro Hector. Incredible rooms right over the most beautiful lagoon ever with clear turquoise fresh water. Janzu therapy with Monica is another most. Just bring mosquito repelent!

This place is overrated. We were there four days and there weren't any staff on site that we could find in the holistic center of the property. There was a juice bar that was never staffed and always had dirty dishes around. Confusing. Also there is no furniture to speak of other than beds. No chairs to sit upright in the over water cabanas. The food is horrible and menu misleading with many unmentioned substitutions. The whole place felt like it was trying to cater to weekend visitors as opposed to weekday stays. Disappointing. Also around the property, on the drive in and around the organic structures, broken glass and broken furniture, looked like maybe they were going to upcyle but who knows, it just looked ratty.

I have been waiting to stay here since I saw this resort the first time on the lagoon in 2021. I stayed at the over water cabana which offered beautiful lagoon view, unit 6 and 7 are newer units with glass patio doors. The cabanas are eco friendly therefore no AC but they provided 3 fans, the room is not completely sealed so some openings are covered with mesh to prevent bugs. Their temple is beautiful and they offer daily yoga or meditation. We also paid extra for the lagoon boat ride and met the captain yan who was so nice and knowledgeable. This is a place to connect to the nature so fish, birds, bugs and frogs might come out sometimes.

Me gustó mucho todo las instalaciones, la comida etc sin embargo sugiero fumiguen con más frecuencia. Hay unos bichitos que se suben hasta la cama y que incluso se pegan en tu bolsa. Lo entiendo de verdad por la propia naturaleza del lugar pero si creo que algo se puede hacer.

El staff y la propiedad frente al lago es magestuoso. Nos hubiese gustado quedarnos más noches, pasamos muy a gusto! La única sugerencia que haría es sobre las toallas que se ven percudidas, ya no son blancas.

The property was well kept and maintained. Although I can only speak for our cabana #5. There was no hot water, pretty sure the toilet flushed right into the water so we stopped swimming. We were told we could not eat at the restaurant on christmas eve or get room service the property was closed for a private party. Thankfully we had a rental car and were able to drive into town before things closed up. Christmas morning we sat at the restaurant for 15min and waited while another table was greeted and order taken, we were completely ignored, so once again we got up and drove into town. The staff was friendly but the whole vibe seemed outright rude, and we felt like we were intruding. We were appalled with the smug attitude. I paid 3000 for our christmas holiday stay and 2 massages we never received. This place is nice and well kept but way over priced for the service and the attitude we were shown. I highly recommend against this place. It is sad because I chose to spend the extra money for the holiday because the hotel was highly reviewed. Sadly that was not our experience.

Our cabana was in the middle of a remodel. There was a tarp blocking half of the view, which was as the reason why we booked this hotel. The staff was quick to do a turnaround that worked out but wasn’t super ideal. The location of the cabanas right on the water is outstanding.

La cabaña con acceso a la laguna es INCREÍBLE, uno de los mejores hoteles que hemos visitado. El servicio a cliente también es excelente. La comida del restaurante también es muy buena y accesible.

I paid 3000 for our christmas holiday stay and 2 massages we never received. This place is nice and well kept but way over priced for the service and the attitude we were shown. I highly recommend against this place. It is sad because I chose to spend the extra money for the holiday because the hotel was highly reviewed. Sadly that was not our experience.
The property was well kept and maintained. Although I can only speak for our cabana #5. There was no hot water, pretty sure the toilet flushed right into the water so we stopped swimming. We were told we could not eat at the restaurant on christmas eve or get room service the property was closed for a private party. Thankfully we had a rental car and were able to drive into town before things closed up. Christmas morning we sat at the restaurant for 15min and waited while another table was greeted and order taken, we were completely ignored, so once again we got up and drove into town. The staff was friendly but the whole vibe seemed outright rude, and we felt like we were intruding. We were appalled with the smug attitude. This hotel was the most serene and tranquil experience ever had. It felt like we had the hotel all to ourselves as there are only 17 rooms, and our bungalow was over the water with direct access to the lagoon from our back door. This was a dream, we will definitely plan to be back!

I have been waiting to stay here since I saw this resort the first time on the lagoon in 2021. I stayed at the over water cabana which offered beautiful lagoon view, unit 6 and 7 are newer units with glass patio doors. The cabanas are eco friendly therefore no AC but they provided 3 fans, the room is not completely sealed so some openings are covered with mesh to prevent bugs. Their temple is beautiful and they offer daily yoga or meditation. We also paid extra for the lagoon boat ride and met the captain yan who was so nice and knowledgeable. This is a place to connect to the nature so fish, birds, bugs and frogs might come out sometimes.

Amazing hotel!!! Make sure you take the room on the lagoon. We spent three nights of our honeymoon here. Most beautiful place with very kind people managing it. Also very good food at the restaurant. Highly recommend!!

Nous avions la première hutte #1 sur la Lagune près de la réception très bruyant, le lit pas comfortable. Vous devez savoir que cet hôtel n'a pas d'air climatisé, seulement des fans. Après avoir fait le tour de Bacalar, ce restaurant offrait un des menus les plus dispendieux $$$ avec une moin bonne qualité (le seule endroit où nous avons été malade). Nous avions un déjeuner d'inclus (repas d'enfants) et nous devions payer pour un jus d'orange. Au final je suis contente d'y être passé pas plus que 3 nuits, j'avais beaucoup d'attente. Je suis contente de mon expérience mais je ne serai pas pressé d'y retourner. Le site vaut quand même d'être vue.

Had a beautiful stay in one of the lagoon villas. From the moment we arrived staff were incredibly helpful and attended to everything we needed. We took the opportunity to participate in the sound healing ceremony in the beautiful temple, which was a great experience. The grounds are beautiful and create an atmosphere conducive to relaxation. We also booked a couples Thai massage which was excellent. Food and drinks at the restaurant were top quality. Would definitely recommend for those looking to disconnect, slow down and rejuvenate.

Where do I begin? From the moment we arrived it was magical. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful sending menu's for food and spa as well as daily activities straight to your WhatsApp. Then they invited us to do a cleansing / blessing ritual with setting our intentions and copal blessing. Aaron went above and beyond giving us a private tour of the temple! The spa services are also magical! I had the aquatic massage with Diane and it was if she had been specially selected for me. And then we opted for the Sunrise Tour on kayaks and paddleboards with Isaac. He made my birthday so special. So many magical moments. The room was beautiful, the Lagoon was brilliant and the resort was spectacular!! I will be back!

The villas were beautiful! It felt like we had the lagoon to ourself! The people who work there were great! Luis and hector really stood out to as as very helpful. There was also a man in the restaurant that was amazing. He knew a lot of information and was very helpful…. We didn’t get his name. The food at Akalki wasn’t the best. The breakfast was good, the rest wasn’t that great. Overall a great trip! Would definitely recommend akalki to all!

Akalki is a true treasure! This is my second time in Bacalar and Akalki offers the best hotel option out of all the hotels I’ve visited there (to stay or to have lunch or dinner). The staff’s service level is incredible! They really go out of their way to make you feel special and taken care of. The hotel grounds are impecable and right on the lagoon… and on the most secluded and tranquil part of the lagoon. Great to rest and relax. It is the only hotel to have villas over the water like in Bali, the Maldives and Bora Bora. Such an amazing experience to sleep over perfect turquoise crystal clear water with white sand! The restaurant is great (specially loved breakfast) and the spa is amazing! It is more than a spa… it is a healing center with body and spiritual treatments like no other. All together, I would recommend Akalki to go enjoy Bacalar. I wouldn’t go anywhere else and I will be back!!!

Estancia Increible. Uno de los mas hermosos lugares que he visitado Felicidades por cuidar el Medio Ambiente Increibles vistas y excelentes accesos para nadar en la laguna. Lo Unico que sugiero es poner almohadas mas comodas ya que las actuales son muy delgadas, sin soporte y poco acojinamiento. Restaurante bueno pero algo caro. Por demas, excelente lugar.

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing place this is it! I am not into yoga but if you are then this is the place for you. The staff are courteous and very helpful and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. We stayed for 3 nights and never left the area. The Lagoon is absolutely gorgeous. I recommend taking the boat tour as Jami was very iformative and friendly.

This place is overrated. We were there four days and there weren't any staff on site that we could find in the holistic center of the property. There was a juice bar that was never staffed and always had dirty dishes around. Confusing. Also there is no furniture to speak of other than beds. No chairs to sit upright in the over water cabanas. The food is horrible and menu misleading with many unmentioned substitutions. The whole place felt like it was trying to cater to weekend visitors as opposed to weekday stays. Disappointing. Also around the property, on the drive in and around the organic structures, broken glass and broken furniture, looked like maybe they were going to upcyle but who knows, it just looked ratty.

Staying at this hotel felt like being in a paradise in the jungle. Our villa had its own private access to the lagoon, which is something you don’t often find here. The gardens are filled with green plants, bright flowers, and creative art. The staff is always helpful and attentive. The restaurant’s food has really improved since we were here about two years ago.
Staying at this hotel felt like being in a paradise in the jungle. Our villa had its own private access to the lagoon, which is something you don’t often find here. The gardens are filled with green plants, bright flowers, and creative art. The staff is always helpful and attentive. The restaurant’s food has really improved since we were here about two years ago.

The best hotel in Bacalar. i have been coming to Akalki for over 14 years and never disappoints. Take note that the bungalow rooms on the water ( 1-4) do have air conditioning - the website ( expedia listing ) is not clear about that. Make sure to take a tour to go visit the temple and take Akalki boat tour on the water with your captain Yan. Every morning there is a holistic experience of either sound healing, yoga , meditation - endulge in these experiences as well. The spa is also incredible and also had one of the most amazing holistic massages. Akalki isn’t just a hotel but rather a sanctuary to turn inward and connect with nature.
