We absolutely loved almost everything about our stay! We loved the historic, boutique feel of the hotel, the beautiful registration area, the fitness center, the tavern, the room, the hallways even with the old pictures, the beautiful setting, the cute little town, and nearby playground and skatepark. My only negative feedback is that the pool was absolutely freezing. We actually specifically chose this hotel as a last minute get-away because it said it had an outdoor heated pool but I couldn't even get in because it was so cold. My kids went in for a bit and had fun but didn't stay long because of the temperature. I'm honestly not sure I would come back because of it, which is a bummer because I loved everything else about our stay. I feel like I'd have to call ahead to see if any changes were made and what the temperature of the pool would be before booking. Other than that piece, would highly recommend if not interested in the pool piece.

We had a wonderful stay at the Bethel Inn. The staff is friendly and helpful. Upon checking in, we found we had been upgraded to a larger room with two queen beds instead of twins, had a fireplace and a lounge area. Very nice of them. We looked out over the golf course and had a nice sunset. Ate dinner in the tavern and our food was delicious. We ate in the bar area which had a cozier atmosphere than the restaurant part. It was perfect for after a long day of skiing for us. The health spa is more functional than luxury and would benefit from a makeover. The pool was warm and sauna nice and hot. (Only one sauna working when we were there.) The womens locker room was old, no benches, bathroom door doesn’t lock properly, no place to change privately. You need to get towels from the front desk (in another building). Our room was comfortable but bathroom was tired. Beds and couches were very comfortable so for me, that’s a 10. All in all great value for money.

We had a great weekend at the historic Bethel Inn. Some of our favorite amenities were swimming in the heated outdoor pool that was warm enough for us the first day- but others didn't last a minute. Happily it was a little warmer the next day. The saunas were lovely too. BYOB- bring your own bathrobe to get to the pool from your room. It gets chilly up there in winter. Each day at tea time after xcountry skiing on the well groomed trails, the lobby had hot drinks and scones in multiple flavors. Day one, the scones were stale and the second day there were more flavors and they came out hot. We took advantage and booked a horse drawn sleigh ride on the property. It was adorable. Short and sweet. Its BYOB- bring your own blanket on the ride. We had dinner at the tavern and all the food was excellent! There was a live musician that was top notch too. We were in the Oaks building separate from the main inn but closer to the pool and we were quite comfortable except for the bathroom floor which was so cold it hurt to step on it barefoot. The floor by the bed was a little drafty too. We appreciate that it is a challenge to stay on top of the upkeep of an old inn and we appreciated the charming quirkiness of staying in an old building. I would go again, but just expect things to run hot and cold.

Don’t waste your time or money here. The name should be changed from “resort” to “motel,” over priced Motel at that! Went to take shower in am, waited forever for water to get warm then I realized this is the hottest it will get which was almost lukewarm. Got out and dried off as fast as possible to get warm. With this info, my wife didn’t even want to try to shower. Told front desk about this when checking out, not even an apology. And the resort fee is an extra $34 for the pool, the use of kayaks and a couple other things we didn’t use (who swims in an outdoor pool the third week in September in Maine?) So since the shower was cold and we didn’t use any facilities, I asked if they would comp the breakfast. She said “no” but I could tell she thought I was strange for even asking. I like to patronize family and non-chain companies because of the appreciation and personal touch but I may as well stayed at a chain.

Our room was terrible..steady leaking shower that flowed into the entire bathroom floor, brown water with scum coming out of sink.. after asking for maintenance to fix all issues we returned to room with a note that we were being upgraded. They upgraded us to a very nice, clean and comfortable suite in the main area of resort. This was my third time at this hotel and unfortunately will be my last 😕 very upsetting to see this beloved beautiful historic resort in disrepair

The top sheet on my bed had holes in it. Really? Bathroom was clean but no bar to hold onto stepping into the bathtub to shower. And no place to place toilet articles while using in the bathroom. Staff was wonderful and food and wait staff excellent in the Tavern. Grounds were pretty and bed comfortable. Overall appearance was pretty run down everywhere.

To start with the first thing my wife did was go to the bathroom. The toilet wouldn’t flush we had to call the front desk for help. The furniture in the room was shot you could see a lot of ware on the couch and chair. Every thing went ok thru the night. In the morning we went to o take a shower but we skipped it after seeing all the hair and soap scum in it so we promptly left

Extremely friendly, helpful staff at the front desk. She not only greeted us with a smile, she escorted us to our room and made sure everything was perfect. Our room was large, the beds were comfortable. The pillows were perfect and everything was very clean.

We had a pleasant bit somewhat dated room. Comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom fine. It's a big old place that needs some upgrading. It has charm certainly but for the price I would say it was not worth it.

Not so good , entered the room it smelled like cleaner fluid , room was very small for the price , bed was uncomfortable. Pool was only open till 6 pm most other places around usually open till 9 -10 pm so I was not able to enjoy that amenity , breakfast was not complimentary which most places at least have something

We arrived slightly after 11pm to find the front door locked and our room keys taped to the door. The sign said to type in your code to access the door. Well we never received a code. I called the phone number on the door which stated call for service or emergency . Tried 4 times to no answer. We were out $415 and no where to stay. Thank you Bethel inn

We were given a room with a broken tv and twin double beds even though we reserved a king. Hotel staff said there were none of those left. They stated it’s a common thing when online reservations are made. Places like hotel.com and Travelocity don’t check they said.

Extremely friendly, helpful staff at the front desk. She not only greeted us with a smile, she escorted us to our room and made sure everything was perfect. Our room was large, the beds were comfortable. The pillows were perfect and everything was very clean.

Monday breakfast was limited and also $ 20 pp but we were glad for the convenience of getting a breakfast sandwich in the Inn before heading to the mountain. We had a great weekend at the historic Bethel Inn. Some of our favorite amenities were swimming in the heated outdoor pool that was warm enough for us the first day- but others didn't last a minute. Happily it was a little warmer the next day. The saunas were lovely too. BYOB- bring your own bathrobe to get to the pool from your room. It gets chilly up there in winter. Each day at tea time after xcountry skiing on the well groomed trails, the lobby had hot drinks and scones in multiple flavors. Day one, the scones were stale and the second day there were more flavors and they came out hot. We took advantage and booked a horse drawn sleigh ride on the property. It was adorable. Short and sweet. Its BYOB- bring your own blanket on the ride. We had dinner at the tavern and all the food was excellent! There was a live musician that was top notch too. We were in the Oaks building separate from the main inn but closer to the pool and we were quite comfortable except for the bathroom floor which was so cold it hurt to step on it barefoot. The floor by the bed was a little drafty too. We appreciate that it is a challenge to stay on top of the upkeep of an old inn and we appreciated the charming quirkiness of staying in an old building. I would go again, but just expect things to run hot and cold.

A nice convenient place to stay. Very accommodating. Dining was short staffed but they still served regardless and maintained composure. It is a fairly busy place, golf course, many rooms, a pool, tavern. If looking for a more quiet peaceful stay consider something more remote.

The top sheet on my bed had holes in it. Really? Bathroom was clean but no bar to hold onto stepping into the bathtub to shower. And no place to place toilet articles while using in the bathroom. Staff was wonderful and food and wait staff excellent in the Tavern. Grounds were pretty and bed comfortable. Overall appearance was pretty run down everywhere.

Don’t waste your time or money here. The name should be changed from “resort” to “motel,” over priced Motel at that! Went to take shower in am, waited forever for water to get warm then I realized this is the hottest it will get which was almost lukewarm. Got out and dried off as fast as possible to get warm. With this info, my wife didn’t even want to try to shower. Told front desk about this when checking out, not even an apology. And the resort fee is an extra $34 for the pool, the use of kayaks and a couple other things we didn’t use (who swims in an outdoor pool the third week in September in Maine?) So since the shower was cold and we didn’t use any facilities, I asked if they would comp the breakfast. She said “no” but I could tell she thought I was strange for even asking. I like to patronize family and non-chain companies because of the appreciation and personal touch but I may as well stayed at a chain.

I like old wooden hotels with some of the eleance and ambience of the past and the Bethel Inn fits this model. Thr rustication kind. It's even ok if the elegance is a little faded but there not much elegance left as they focus on the golf and ski crowd who are not interested in elegance but probably where their money is,. The food in the bar, pub food, was good but not dining. My room in the old part had a good bed and modern bath, but no chair nor desk. For that I maked them down but not too low as i did not call down and demand they sent one up! It did make the room much less comfortable. The staff were very pleasant even though hasseled with a wedding and lots of golfers the weekend I stayed.

The Bethel Inn is an historic landmark in the Sweet Little town of Bethel… it was a basic room with no refrigerator and the continental breakfast was not very good… Thankfully, there was a wonderful coffee shop/bakery in town called Gemini Café… The food was not very good. We went downstairs for happy hour… Limited beer, selection on tap, and the food was not great… Swimming in the swimming pool with that view however was amazing and anyone who wants to play golf I’m sure would have a good time! Good to say I’ve been there… But not sure I would go back.

We like the Bethel Inn for its proximity to things we like to do and that it has an onsite restaurant and golf course. However, since new ownership there is a noticeable decline in maintenance to the buildings and outdoor areas with deferred maintenance of wood rot, paint and the golf course looking a bit ragged. During our stay we heard many people discuss issues like a tub that had inches of water in it from a leak, a hot water heater in a condo that wasn’t performing well. We also heard from local sources that the plan was to replace part of the golf course with luxury condos. It’s unfortunate that this would happen. Generally, it felt like the place was being ignored. Front desk staff did not give us good direction to our room (told us 2nd floor when it was first). The ice machine was inoperable and the bedding in our room had stains on it. The Millbrook Tavern, however, was excellent and the food and drinks were very good. We will be back to the Tavern but not sure if the Inn will be on our stay list again.
