Lovely location in the scenic countryside and super clean accommodation with gorgeous bathroom and comfy bed. Food was very tasty but portions on the small side. Breakfast could definitely do with some small but significant extras. No choice of fruit juice, no toast or cereals and no ketchup or brown sauce available. I’m not keen on muffins and cinnamon rolls for breakfast so a choice would have been better. Tried to have some bar snacks, but they were too busy in the restaurant so couldn’t serve us anything but bread. I would stay here again for the location and comfort but they could up their game when it comes to other areas..

Lovely location-off the beaten track-with easy access to usual tourist spots. Stayed for 3 nights-on 2 of these nights the pub was closed-in the detached Manor House Barn.The facilities here are first rate. Will be looking to undertake a return visit to sample the excellent food offering

Fantastic stay in this gastropub. Finished to a high standard in an amazing part of the peaks. Breakfast was stunning and our evening dinner was first class. Only minor quibble was hearing the people above us in our room

Fabulous modern rooms with comfortable king size bed. Huge bathroom with twin showers . Outside patio with fabulous views over the Derbyshire countryside Excellent food in the restaurant . Cosy dining and bar area . Close to Chatsworth, Buxton, Matlock & Bakewell Nice birthday break away

One of the best places we have ever stayed. The people that run it are exceptionally helpful and friendly. The rooms are done to an exceptionally high standard and the breakfast was superb. There is also excellent parking which is ideal for anyone with a classic car. Furthermore, its dog friendly so next time the furry one will be coming with us. See you again soon!

Great place to stay. Worth noting breakfast was included but the confirmation email stated no cooked breakfast on Mondays. No mention of this before booking. Still great room and would recommend it.

The room was very good nice, just.We could not fault the room but very disappointed with the cooked breakfast it consisted of 2 rashers of streaky bacon which was very hard, a pot of brown sauce and what seemed a small hash brown and a fried egg, which I can not have, unfortunately the waitress forgot to tell the kitchen no egg on mine. We have stayed at many places and never have a seem a cooked breakfast like that. No sausage, black pudding, baked beans or mushrooms. Also they don’t give you toast either. The tea pot was chipped and cracked, this should not have been used. The meal on the Saturday was not good the Hogget was very tough and my partners was also cold, as were the vegetables, the cabbage was served with a lot of water in the dish. We did complain about the meal at the time and my partner was offered Hogget that I presume would have been hot. There was nothing knocked off the bill. As we stayed on a Sunday night they don’t do cooked breakfast, which I think should be told when booking. The continental breakfast was carrot cake & cinnamon brioche, fruit plater (4 slices of blood orange, water melon and grapes) granola natural yoghurt & rhubarb. Where were the cheeses, ham and croissants, also toast would have been good. We eat in the Sunday but as they stop servicing food at 5pm we had to make sure we were back in time. We had the roast beef dinner, again we weren’t that impressed with it. Total spent £604.62 for 2 nights with meals, would not recommend

The room we stayed in at the back of the pub called The Old Barn was amazing. So clean, eco friendly and spacious. We did think the top floor overlooking the lounge area could be utilised better as there was just a massive dining table in there. The staff and dining in the pub was exceptional.

Fantastic stay. The room was brand new, really well-equipped, spacious and spotless. The tub was definitely a big plus. And breakfast was really tasty. All in all, a perfect stay !

Me and my wife stopped here for our 10th Wedding Anniversary weekend on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th What an amazing experience, our room was beautiful, open plan with views across the countryside, exceptionally clean and well equipped. Superb slipper style bath and walk in rain shower, Nespresso coffee machine and digital tv with a lounge area to boot, the bed was also very comfortable! Very quiet too, you could hear a pin drop at night! We ate in the gastropub the first night and the food is out of this world, amazing! Breakfast served in the morning again amazing, lovely fresh orange juice and coffee, amazing pastries and cooked breakfast! Great position for exploring nearby Buxton and Bakewell and the Peaks We will definitely be revisiting again

We stayed in the barn and it was beautiful. Double volume, exposed brickwork and a log burner. Well equipped kitchen with coffee machine and dishwasher. Quality bedding and immaculate, they even left a couple of bottles of the local IPA for us, which I really annoyingly left in the fridge!! Staff were super friendly, especially Annie who was lovely, and the food and drink were exceptional. We will be back.

We had a fantastic stay: very comfortable and spacious room, well kept and decorated, brand new and in pristine conditions. But the best part of all was the amazing dinner and fabulous breakfast. It was very peaceful - perfect location for hiking! The room was quite large and comfortable, the bathroom was spotless. It’s dog-friendly which was an added bonus and the food was excellent.

We had a fantastic stay: very comfortable and spacious room, well kept and decorated, brand new and in pristine conditions. But the best part of all was the amazing dinner and fabulous breakfast. Regretfully, we booked a suite but it turns out they were double-booked and put us in an another, smaller room, which didn’t have the same facilities. Staff were quite dismissive and told us to complain to Expedia and ask for a refund as the room they put us in was cheaper. 3 days later and the Expedia can’t contact the management to arrange a refund of any kind. Such a shame because it is a lovely place and the foot in the pub was genuinely excellent. But we paid an additional £185 for this meal for two and they didn’t even arrange a drink as a means of apology. I think we’ve been very reasonable.
Regretfully, we booked a suite but it turns out they were double-booked and put us in an another, smaller room, which didn’t have the same facilities. Staff were quite dismissive and told us to complain to Expedia and ask for a refund as the room they put us in was cheaper. 3 days later and the Expedia can’t contact the management to arrange a refund of any kind. Such a shame because it is a lovely place and the foot in the pub was genuinely excellent. But we paid an additional £185 for this meal for two and they didn’t even arrange a drink as a means of apology. I think we’ve been very reasonable.

Lovely location in the scenic countryside and super clean accommodation with gorgeous bathroom and comfy bed. Food was very tasty but portions on the small side. Breakfast could definitely do with some small but significant extras. No choice of fruit juice, no toast or cereals and no ketchup or brown sauce available. I’m not keen on muffins and cinnamon rolls for breakfast so a choice would have been better. Tried to have some bar snacks, but they were too busy in the restaurant so couldn’t serve us anything but bread. I would stay here again for the location and comfort but they could up their game when it comes to other areas..

Me and my wife stopped here for our 10th Wedding Anniversary weekend on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th What an amazing experience, our room was beautiful, open plan with views across the countryside, exceptionally clean and well equipped. Superb slipper style bath and walk in rain shower, Nespresso coffee machine and digital tv with a lounge area to boot, the bed was also very comfortable! Very quiet too, you could hear a pin drop at night! We ate in the gastropub the first night and the food is out of this world, amazing! Breakfast served in the morning again amazing, lovely fresh orange juice and coffee, amazing pastries and cooked breakfast! Great position for exploring nearby Buxton and Bakewell and the Peaks We will definitely be revisiting again

Lovely location-off the beaten track-with easy access to usual tourist spots. Stayed for 3 nights-on 2 of these nights the pub was closed-in the detached Manor House Barn.The facilities here are first rate. Will be looking to undertake a return visit to sample the excellent food offering

It was very peaceful - perfect location for hiking! The room was quite large and comfortable, the bathroom was spotless. It’s dog-friendly which was an added bonus and the food was excellent.

The room we stayed in at the back of the pub called The Old Barn was amazing. So clean, eco friendly and spacious. We did think the top floor overlooking the lounge area could be utilised better as there was just a massive dining table in there. The staff and dining in the pub was exceptional.

We stayed in the barn for 3 days and had a wonderfully relaxing time. The food at the pub is outstanding. Best breakfast selection I have ever experienced. The chef is clearly extremely passionate about their craft.

Fantastic stay in this gastropub. Finished to a high standard in an amazing part of the peaks. Breakfast was stunning and our evening dinner was first class. Only minor quibble was hearing the people above us in our room

The accommodation was lovely and the area was great. It would have been nice to have been able to check in earlier and check out a touch later. I had read good reviews about the breakfast and it was slightly disappointing to only be offered a continental, even though this was nice

The room was very good nice, just.We could not fault the room but very disappointed with the cooked breakfast it consisted of 2 rashers of streaky bacon which was very hard, a pot of brown sauce and what seemed a small hash brown and a fried egg, which I can not have, unfortunately the waitress forgot to tell the kitchen no egg on mine. We have stayed at many places and never have a seem a cooked breakfast like that. No sausage, black pudding, baked beans or mushrooms. Also they don’t give you toast either. The tea pot was chipped and cracked, this should not have been used. The meal on the Saturday was not good the Hogget was very tough and my partners was also cold, as were the vegetables, the cabbage was served with a lot of water in the dish. We did complain about the meal at the time and my partner was offered Hogget that I presume would have been hot. There was nothing knocked off the bill. As we stayed on a Sunday night they don’t do cooked breakfast, which I think should be told when booking. The continental breakfast was carrot cake & cinnamon brioche, fruit plater (4 slices of blood orange, water melon and grapes) granola natural yoghurt & rhubarb. Where were the cheeses, ham and croissants, also toast would have been good. We eat in the Sunday but as they stop servicing food at 5pm we had to make sure we were back in time. We had the roast beef dinner, again we weren’t that impressed with it. Total spent £604.62 for 2 nights with meals, would not recommend

Very attentive staff and great food. My only observation is that the dining area could do with a lick of paint, but that’s only a minor thing and a logistical challenge!! Would definitely visit again.

If you need a couple of nights away in the Peak District, The Blind Bull is a great getaway. Most of the rooms are in a building a mere 25 paces from the door of the bar! For dog owners choose one of the ‘pig’ rooms as there is a little gravel garden. The owners have thoughtfully provided a little bin outside for any bags. We ate both nights at the pub and you can see why the place is highly rated. It is so much more than ‘pub’ food. A lovely crafted menu and a great wine list. Breakfast is excellent with quality over quantity. Top tip is to make a booking for a table as the place gets really busy. All the staff we came across were polite friendly and knowledgeable. Special thanks to Brooke, Jane Bond and David the manager.

Pet friendly stay for One night . Clean and comfortable. Didnt have dinner, breakfast very nice , lovely lady serving. Fresh milk delivered first thing in the morning a nice touch. Charge of £25 PER NIGHT for a pet I believe is excessive. £20 per stay seems the average these days . So I suppose £25 per stay would be acceptable for the quality of establishment. NOT £25 per night though !

Staff were extremely friendly, and my dinner the evening I arrived was delicious. I don't eat breakfast but the coffee was good. The setting of this place is just beautiful, I was sad to only be staying the one night.
