Don’t bother staying here. The room smelt of damp. The restaurant charged us £5.50!for water We were charged £8,80 service charge despite after a drink was spilt my partner had to wipe up the table because the barman was not interested. The pool is tiny and the pictures are not what it looks like. Also the pool was full of kids so we could not use it.

Nice hotel with great gym and pool .If you want to use pool in the am before breakfast make sure to book a lane . Room clean and tidy , good TV but sadly terrible smell from drains in the bathroom which got worse when the heated towel rail was used . Im sure its something they can fix but not nice :-(

Staff were friendly & helpful. Food at the hotel and on site pub was excellent. The hotel location is good with the town centre around 30 minutes walk. The pool area was uninspiring and access was limited. There was no availability for spa treatments during our stay. The room wasn’t cleaned properly. The lack of decent toiletries was disappointing and not what we expected in a 4 star hotel.

We stayed here for 2 nights and everything was good. All the staff were friendly and professional. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The pool and steam room were good. The gym was probably the biggest one I've seen in a hotel. Plenty of parking available. We slept very well here. Overall a great experience and we'd visit again, but have dinner somewhere else.

We are returning to this stunning hotel for the 3rd time and love it here. Great service from staff they were able to give us a double room after we booked twin room available via hotels.com which was great. The food is amazing, fish and chips is a definite go to, and 2nd night we had a 3 course meal closer to fine dining with famtastic quality. Spa services were great we used both pool and steam room which work perfectly to feel fully relaxed. I have used the gym facilities in the past and they are more than enough to have a good workout. Overall, we will definitely be back again. I strongly recommend this hotel for 2 or 3 nights. Make sure you use the full range of the facilities provided.

We had an executive suite which was excellent, it was well worth the extra money for the space & the extra touches. The quality of the furnishings & the bedding were very good & the bed was very comfy, we slept so well. it was cleaned each day to the same standard, the only slight issue was the soap dispensers we not very full & we ran out of all by the second day & the one on the sink wasn`t filled, only the bath & shower, we made do as it was our last night. Breakfast was very good, lots of it & plenty of choice which kept us going all day.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Good food and nice bar/lounge area. Lovely views. Very friendly staff in bar and reception. Not so impressed with the twin room we had, horrible smell and awful view (back of hotel overlooking roofs and various industrial sized pipes and completely overlooked by other rooms) and very stale smell in the corridors too. Leisure area also dissapointing, felt very small and cramped and service from staff not very good, seemed more interested in their own conversation! Although hotel is in a lovely location I would not hurry back as we were so disappointed with the room and leisure facilities.

The rooms are dated and there was mould on the windows in our room. The breakfast is good, but the food in the ‘pub’ attached to the hotel was average at best. On arrival the room had pastry crumbs the floor and bed. After reporting this, the staff cleaned the room again which had us wait a further hour to get into our room. In sum the hotel is expensive for the dated rooms. The staff were friendly but we would not recommend or visit here again.

We use the Castle Green hotel often and always feel comfortable and welcomed by the staff. The rooms are spotless and well equipped and those at the front of the hotel have a view over the beautiful garden.

Hotel is ok, not the most modern in decor of overall hotel or rooms or even swimming facilities. Breakfast was a bit poor, not enough crossaint or fresh fruit etc each day, once they run out that’s it. Our room wasn’t very clean, dirty bathroom vent we had to show them & therefore didn’t work. Was fixed quickly. Spoons in room looked like they’d been wiped clean & not new clean ones. Staff generally fine. Prob not somewhere to stay again. Area itself is nice & pretty.

We had a wonderful time! The hotel is in a great location, a short drive into Kendal town centre. The gardens are lovely although it was a bit rainy so we didnt get to roam much! Check in was quick as we could do it online, reception team were lovely (the kids appreciated their activity packs!) Our room was clean and modern, comfy beds and beautiful bathroom. Also, we we were in the quiet area which was perfect. The pool was clean and warm, kids swim times which meant that we didnt feel as though we were disturbing the other swimmers. The gym is also well equipt and air conditioned. The bar area was good, the kids enjoyed their free lemonade! Breakfast was what you would expect, plenty of choice and the cooked breakfast was fresh. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The accomodation was great but it was the little touches from the team that made the hotel stand out. We look forward to returning!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast and dining options. Nice bar area. Good pool, steam room and gym. Our bedroom was clean and with a comfortable bed, but a bit old and tired for the price. Unimpressed with the fixed head shower which was more reminiscent of a campsite than a 4* hotel!

Very enjoyable stay. Room had been recently re-fitted, very comfortable and had plenty of storage and power points for charging devices. Service from staff was excellent and really enjoyed our meal in the restaurant. Don’t know if it is hotel policy, but it was great to stay in a hotel without having to put up with other peoples badly behaved mutts, if this is the policy, please keep it up, the hotel was far cleaner than some other so called luxury hotels I have stayed at that allow dogs. Would certainly go back.

Used this as stopover hotel on way up to boat so didn’t get to enjoy its fantastic location. Everything about hotel really lovely except having to queue for a very long time to get seated for breakfast. This seemed to be caused by staff shortage as hotel quite full. Breakfast itself was lovely!

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Good food and nice bar/lounge area. Lovely views. Very friendly staff in bar and reception. Not so impressed with the twin room we had, horrible smell and awful view (back of hotel overlooking roofs and various industrial sized pipes and completely overlooked by other rooms) and very stale smell in the corridors too. Leisure area also dissapointing, felt very small and cramped and service from staff not very good, seemed more interested in their own conversation! Although hotel is in a lovely location I would not hurry back as we were so disappointed with the room and leisure facilities.

It was a 50th wedding anniversary treat. Not that anyone at the hotel seemed to care. Handed a small bar of chocolate with a photo of the hotel on it. All very regimented and robotic.

We stayed here for 2 nights and everything was good. All the staff were friendly and professional. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The pool and steam room were good. The gym was probably the biggest one I've seen in a hotel. Plenty of parking available. We slept very well here. Overall a great experience and we'd visit again, but have dinner somewhere else.

We are returning to this stunning hotel for the 3rd time and love it here. Great service from staff they were able to give us a double room after we booked twin room available via hotels.com which was great. The food is amazing, fish and chips is a definite go to, and 2nd night we had a 3 course meal closer to fine dining with famtastic quality. Spa services were great we used both pool and steam room which work perfectly to feel fully relaxed. I have used the gym facilities in the past and they are more than enough to have a good workout. Overall, we will definitely be back again. I strongly recommend this hotel for 2 or 3 nights. Make sure you use the full range of the facilities provided.

property is situated more than 10 mins walk from Kendal, all up hill to return. we stayed in the hotel and went to Alexanders, meals and staff very good.

We had a wonderful time! The hotel is in a great location, a short drive into Kendal town centre. The gardens are lovely although it was a bit rainy so we didnt get to roam much! Check in was quick as we could do it online, reception team were lovely (the kids appreciated their activity packs!) Our room was clean and modern, comfy beds and beautiful bathroom. Also, we we were in the quiet area which was perfect. The pool was clean and warm, kids swim times which meant that we didnt feel as though we were disturbing the other swimmers. The gym is also well equipt and air conditioned. The bar area was good, the kids enjoyed their free lemonade! Breakfast was what you would expect, plenty of choice and the cooked breakfast was fresh. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The accomodation was great but it was the little touches from the team that made the hotel stand out. We look forward to returning!

We stayed here for our anniversary and on arrival they had upgraded us to a king room which was nice and we were pleasantly suprised they had leff us a card and some chocolate. The rooms were lovely and clean had everything we needed for the evening. The food and drinks were slightly pricey but was to be expected. We didnt use the pool or anything so can't comment on that. Plenty of parking on site. Nice surroundings. Overall lovely stay however we probably wouldnt stay again just as it was abit out of the way for us an no entertainment so based purely on personal preferences.

Pleasant accommodations and pleasing staff! Issues and requests promptly handled. No complaints, and my appreciation to all the staff. However, the hotel should have their own shuttle service into town and the short distances to the train stations at Kendal and Oxenholme. Because I need a cane and have other mobility issues, it is too far to walk into town and the return is up a steep road from Kendal. Further, contorting myself into tiny Kendal taxis was difficult and painful. Fortunately, taxi rides to and from the hotel are not too expensive (but they are not necessarily available during rush hours) and the taxi service itself is (excepting my accessibility issues) is reasonably good. Finally--and this is just my opinion--the ambition of the menus in the hotel restaurants exceeds the capabilities of their kitchen. The food they served was acceptable, but I did not look forward to eating there.

We use the Castle Green hotel often and always feel comfortable and welcomed by the staff. The rooms are spotless and well equipped and those at the front of the hotel have a view over the beautiful garden.

Nice place, restaurant could do with figuring out that not everything goes with a mound of rocket and parmesan! Bar prices exorbitant and restaurant choices uninspiring. My advice is eat at the pub/bar in the grounds. The food is far better, more reasonable and more varied, plus a heap cheaper.

Really good food from all thd menus including Alexanders pub. Staff were really helpful including arranging for food from yhe pub to be brought to yhe restaurant for a a petson with fietry requirements. Pool was fantastic and a member of our group was very pleased with the spa treatments. This Hotel is a little gem.

Everything was fine except for the meal we had on the first evening at the newly refurbished Alexanders pub restaurant which is part of the hotel. The artisan bread (£5.95) was stale which we sent back only to wait 10 minutes for it to be replaced (chef being clever?). This time of the 6 small pieces, only 4 were stale. However, before we had time to eat the replacement bread along came the main course (Seabass, tagliatelle and veg - £22.95). The Seabass was cooked well though very small. The tagliatelle was dry and lukewarm. The green veg (which weirdly was placed under the fish), was well cooked but totally without any seasoning. The young waiter was apologetic but clearly the place lacked professional supervision. We complained to reception who said they would inform management but heard nothing back.

Fantastic hotel, highly recommended. Staff friendly and welcoming. Plenty of parking spaces. Food was delicious in the greenhouse restaurant and breakfast was superb, with plenty of choice. Pub also on site but we didn’t get a chance to go as we were only there for one night this time. We will definitely be returning.

The hotel was clean, comfortable and well maintained. All of the staff were really helpful, cheerful and friendly. The burger from the bar meal selection was awesome, ranking as one of the best I’ve had, the chips were amazing too. My room was clean, spacious and comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was great, and appreciated. The only very small gripe, is the £10 day parking charge, if you don’t book direct. The hotel is cashless, and when paying, there isn’t an allowance on the bill to add a gratuity, which made tipping difficult. Overall, I am happy to provide a 5 star review.

The hotel is excellent and has great facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff in a lovely environment. The restaurant is very nice and the kitchen produces an excellent breakfast. The gym facilities are very impressive for a hotel and also good staff working there too. Looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The garden view room was very spacious and had a wonderful view of the garden and surrounding countryside. The only negative thing was that I stayed on one of the hottest days this year and there was no aircon in the room I was staying in and although they provided a fan this wasn’t enough to cool the room down at all.
