Think the addition of a pool would have been amazing. Sauna needs fixing, menus updated, beddings with stains. Otherwise beautiful accommodation, lovely staff and nice and quiet.

Hôtel à l'écart de Hanmer springs, il faut emprunter durant 3 kms une route non goudronnée. Chambre spacieuse avec une grande salle de bain avec 2 douches, une grande baignoire spa et un jacuzzi 2 place à l'extérieur... Très peu de monde à l'hôtel, le petit déjeuner est dans le classique, rien de transcendant, le dîner meilleur .. Attention, lors de ma réservation il y avait indiqué sauna, mais je pense que cela fait un moment que le sauna n'est plus fonctionnel. Ilt avait aussi un hammam, mais il a été transformé en storage room

It was once a very nice retreat which seems to have been let go. Was impossible to contact staff from inside or outside resort so drove all the way back from town only to be told that the restaurant that is advertised as open 7 days a week was closed so had to drive back to town to try and find food. Not quite what we expected

The lodge is set on a low hill in the countryside a few kilometers outside Hanmer Springs and the views from the units are incredible. The suite itself was spacious, immaculately clean, and a gorgeous open layout. There is no kitchen and the on-site restaurant is only open at select times, so you'll need to venture into Hanmer Springs for some of your meals. The check-in was simple and smooth, and the Tharindu (Front Office Manager) was friendly and accommodating. Hanmer Springs itself is great for a two (maybe three) day stay, with hot and cold pools, so everything for the family. Hanmer Springs golf course is a challenging par 68 with a couple of memorable holes. All in all, if you're heading for this part of New Zealand Braemar Lodge is a sure bet. Request a room on the upper floor if you want the best view.

The lodge is isolated but a great place for peace and quiet. The suites ere enormous and on site dining was good. A long way to drive if you're looking for other restaurants.

Extremely disappointed to arrive after check in time to be notified there was no dinning or food available on site. If we had been at least notified of this we could have brought some of our own food along as the lodge is approximately 8 km away from any available food in Hanmer. Then found the spa pool with our room was half empty and cold. The poor cleaning staff was sent to fix but knew nothing about the pool then proceeded to have to check multiple other rooms for a spa that was operational and clean. I’ve stayed at Braemar on multiple occasions and this was by far the worst performance yet. Extremely disappointing and reception staff didn’t seem to care at all. Won’t be going back and definitely won’t be recommending to anyone in the future.

Great property if you like the quiet, it is a few kms outside the town and there is nothing around. Great views from the rooms. Very clean, facilities are ok but the gym is very small in a cold room. Annoying that the good breakfast does not provide free coffee other than Americano, on the three days we were there for two there was no barman to make the espresso and the cappuccino. The waiter did his best but the result was poor and they still charged us. Great hotel if you like the quiet

The food was phenomenal. My massage made me feel like a new man, Jana was amazing. There some corners here and there that need touching up. Reception was very welcoming, listened well to my concerns, and dealt with them appropriately.

We had a pleasant stay. The room was excellent and very large. bathroom a bit dated but still in great condition. i only downgraded because the hotel was cold on entry to reception i think it was colder inside than outside. our room was nice and warm but the rest of the place was freezing. Some areas did not appear operational. it lacked that feeling of welcome. it felt like they were saving money on heating.

The water wasnt safe to drink, we were not told about this. The cleaner told us, also the sign in the bathroom said the water had issues but they were rectifying it but it was safe to use. It smelt like sulpher. The spa was dirty and very old looking. There was mould in the bathroom around the spa bath sealant and abouve the shower. The furniture was okd and tired looking. We ordered food just a small meal. The soup was bland and tasteless, pumpkin I think, however on the menu it said vege soup. My partner ordered satay chicken sticks, they had a corn and pepper salsa not satay sauce. The spa bath kept turning on through out the night every 15 minutes. The windows and glass fence were filthy. Really gone down hill, tired and overgrown with weeds in the gardens. Very disappointed as not cheap to stay.

Our stay was average. The room was a great size and had a beautiful view, it was a shame the bath tub, shower floor and spa were very dirty and slimey considering we paid extra to have the private spa. Overall the view, staff at the entrance and room were great but not the cleanliness.

When we arrived we were greeted by staff at reception, nice greeting. Got our key card went to room and the card didnt work. Had to go back to reception and have it loaded properly. Got inside room and looked around. Shower wasnt very clean still soap on the dispensers. Went to have a spa and there was brown floatys and white stuff on top of water floating looked like dead skin. Turned on the gas fire and the room stunk of gas after 20 minutes of use lucky the heat pump worked, the gas fire wouldnt turn off properly and still had a flame. Went out of room for dinner and come back and still stunk of gas. Overall the place was nice but couldnt use outside spa due to it being filthy. Inside spa bath was nice. Would J come back... Yes if there was improvements on the cleaning. Breakfast was nice. Staff were very friendly.

Was looking forward to the 2 spa facilities but very disappointed, Indoor spa bath in need of a good clean, jets were turned on lots of brown flakes blew into the bath, was filled 3 times and still had brown floaties was pretty gross and wasnt used. The outdoor spa was better but had hair floating around and also clinging to the filter. Face cloth was obviously stained. Bed blankets had stains. On arrival bed was made pretty poorly. Fridge was not cooling no matter what setting it was on. Was disappointed about both spas as that was the draw card for us. Great views from the room & quiet surrounds.

Suite was a great size and views were beautiful but room itself was dusty.. no hand towels available in bathroom. Only two flute glasses available in the room despite providing red and white wine in bar fridge. Spa was not clean and no steps available to get in and out of. Also not impressed that we had stayed away from our room until just after 3pm to allow time for room to be serviced but when we returned it had still not been completed. It was serviced at all… only some clean towels were dropped in quickly.

Our key card didn’t work, and when we finally got into the room, it was completely unclean—towels on the floor, bed used, etc. We asked for a new room before heading to dinner and received one, but there was no compensation beyond an apology. The spa was not clean. The room was ok, but for the price of the stay was not worth the money. The spa there is horrible, go in to Hanmer and go to the spa next to the hot pools much better. Was not told at breakfast that the cappuccino and latte were an extra charge. Will never go here again. Old and outdated property

Massive room, very clean and comfortable, hotel was very quiet and didn’t meet any staff. It’s in a beautiful location around ten minutes drive from Hamner Springs. Had the most beautiful view from our room.

Exceptional. We have travelled extensively in N.Z. and internationally, and this would be the quietest room we have stayed in. Well soundproofed, spacious, tastefully decorated, beautiful and expansive views from the room, and a comfortable bed combined ensuring a good nights sleep. Handy to Hanmer (about 5-6kms away) with all it's attractions. Only stayed 1 night, but will be back.

The room is very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Attractive interior design furnishings with a contemporary modern feel. Equipped with everything you need for an overnight stay. Tea and coffee making facilities, dressing gown and slippers and complimentary shower gel and shampoo. Very spacious bathroom with two sinks, large spa bath and two showers in a large cubicle! Loads of space in the bed room to move about in, a living area with fire and TV as well as a table and chairs to eat from. Comfortable beds and crisp sheets. Polite, welcoming service . Top quality hotel. Great for a celebration weekend away . Highly recommend!

I must admit for a 5star hotel the service was slow, we waited 45 mins to be checked (check in was at 3) and then waited 50mins for our dessert after dinner. The room itself was unclean, the tv would not work as it kept shutting off. I would book again however would need to be more thorough with the clean.

Accomodation was luxurious. It was disappointing that we couldn’t dine at the restaurant & that room service wasn’t available until after 8pm. We ended up driving into Hanmer Springs for a meal & drinks. No soap in the shower.

It was once a very nice retreat which seems to have been let go. Was impossible to contact staff from inside or outside resort so drove all the way back from town only to be told that the restaurant that is advertised as open 7 days a week was closed so had to drive back to town to try and find food. Very lovely property but just starting to see signs of neglect in gardens and surrounds. Room was very clean. No staff at all after 5pm, restaurant and bar not open, which wasn’t communicated clearly when booking. We were left with a note at reception to open our door with a key and the lock had a cover over the keyhole that we couldn’t remove. No one answered the after hours number and we had to wander around what seemed to be a ghost hotel until fortunately we found a friendly and helpful maintenance person who was able to let us into our room. Adequate breakfast with friendly breakfast staff person.

Our key card didn’t work, and when we finally got into the room, it was completely unclean—towels on the floor, bed used, etc. We asked for a new room before heading to dinner and received one, but there was no compensation beyond an apology. Great property if you like the quiet, it is a few kms outside the town and there is nothing around. Great views from the rooms. Very clean, facilities are ok but the gym is very small in a cold room. Annoying that the good breakfast does not provide free coffee other than Americano, on the three days we were there for two there was no barman to make the espresso and the cappuccino. The waiter did his best but the result was poor and they still charged us. Great hotel if you like the quiet

About 10 minute drive out of town, but truly worth it. We had room 15. From the time we walked in everything was wow. Large bathroom with a two person spa. King size bed and it also had a fire place. Out on to the patio and wow again. The views of gardens and the mountains was spectacular. Sitting on the patio with those views and the serenity of the area was awesome. Breakfast was included and was buffet style hot and cold, with those views again.

Property was amazing. Breakfast was excellent. Ordered the steak for dinner $48 was excessive for a piece of meat that tasted like it had been defrosted in the microwave very chewing and I'm guessing was Cajun seasoned flavour ruined the meat. Only half was edible due to thick grizzle in the meat which could not be cut with a steak knife. Sides were poor. $41 chicken burger dripping with oil. Would not suggest dinner there. Other than that would definitely stay again.

The deluxe spa suite was amazing. Gas fire and hot tub on the balcony really made it a luxury experience. His and hers sinks and showers in the bathroom as well as a large jacuzzi bath. The restaurant was very poor for dinner, long wait for food, all guest we saw were unhappy with the steak and our food was served cold. The waiters did their best to manage everyone’s discontent. The buffet breakfast was great though. Would definitely recommend a visit but make dinner plans off site.

Wow such a treat having a massive spa bath in our room plus a spa pool on our terrace. The room was huge & very quiet. Maybe the gardens could have been a little more maintained to take advantage of the beautiful snow capped mountains. The restaurant was a little large & stark and kind of felt out of place compared to the intimacy of the rest of the property.

They could have installed shrub bushes instead of large trees in the view point - this would be a plus so when you are in the spa you have uninteruppted views, but still some privacy. The lodge is definately showing it's age, a renovation could help lift the property even further, staff hours for restaurant and check in were odd, this could also elevate the property. Overall was very happy with the stay, the breakfast was good, the dinner in the restaurant was also great, but there could be some work done on improving the ambiance in the restaurant area (dimming lights, lights in the grass / garden area at night instead of having nothing to see but a blind.
