Great Stay at this superb location. Shame The Spa wan closed for refurbishment. Had dinner in the restaurant. Fab food and 5* service from Amy Brown who had a wide knowledge of fine wines from around the world. Room was very big ( we did get an upgrade), looking out the lake. Very clean, ample tea, coffee & biscuits supplies in room. Bed supersize and super comfy. Will definitely return and will highly recommend. Pool will be back open in Dec 2024.

Disappointed there was no spa even when the name suggests there is, all Amenities need to be booked in advance even the pool so we wasn’t able to use that or book any activities, the restaurant wasn’t fully up and running with Skelton staff and long waits

Enjoyed our stay overall. Bed comfortable, room clean. Breakfast was good but no granola or beans on the first day, tinned and packaged goods why run out? Pitch and putt course poorly maintained. Pool good, sauna open, steam room closed, so again disappointing.

The property and rooms were clean. The room was disappointing - we did not expect a lake view but were surprised to have a view of high brick wall a few feet from the window. We are also disappointed that the hotel rooms were scattered around the hillside in a series of blocks, like an old-style holiday camp rather the hotel we expected that was featured on all literature. Parking was available but the staff did not seem bothered at all that this may be some distance from the rooms. The breakfast was good, to be fair. The gym was fine but the pool too shallow for adults to swim in.

Difficult to review as patchy we found. jnr suite was spacious but a lot of space wasted as sort of hall. Loved big bed looking at lake & balcony. Restaurant is awful - big, more like a cafe & noisy music, but staff at dinner lovely & food v good. V hilly, not disabled friendly tho there is a buggy. Breakfast buffet typical - sad food dying under lights. Gym only opens 745 weekends, have to go to reception to get code which changes daily. Why not give code on check in & change daily after guests check out then could make it 24hr. Hall gives impression its olde world but in fact v modern

We had a lovely stay here to celebrate a birthday. The only downsides were there was some mould in the bathroom and around the edges of the window in the bedroom, which you don’t expect in a 4 star hotel. Also a shame the spa was closed but that can’t be helped.

We were only there for one night but this was a great base for visiting the area. The room was clean and comfortable; the bathroom was very modern and the towels were large and soft. There was a kettle and a coffeemaker in the room with a good supply of teabags, etc. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of food available. We would definitely stay here again.

Room was small but expected that as it was called a “cosy” room. I would have liked a small fridge in the room. Staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Bin in bathroom had not been emptied before we arrived.

Lovely and friendly staff. Not enough attention to details though to take it to the next level. Cleanliness was ok but again, not enough detail. Helpful staff at front desk. New member Clara was superb. Restaurant was ok but did appreciate the hours. All not high end enough to be what it should and many areas needs jet washing and cleaning around the grounds, a lot of areas look worn and degrading.

Room could have been cleaned to a higher standard, dust behind the tv and in various places. bathroom had mould in the shower and sealant needs replacing in a number of areas. Constant foghorn type noise emanating from the ground floor of Oakham block.

The hotel has a beautiful setting by Rutland Water .However our room and particularly the bed was very small .The restaurant was overpriced and with a very poor ambiance so we decided to eat in a very good Italian restaurant in Oakham.The policy of putting down 50pound deposit was insulting so we certainly will not stay again

In our room the double bed was very small and the room was cluttered with unnecessary furniture making it feel hot and slightly claustrophobic. The fittings were new and the room was clean. Ok for a one night stop otherwise go for more expensive options. Breakfast average.

Rooms have no air conditioning or fridge for cold drinks. Windows could only be opened by a couple of inches. Rooms too hot and claustrophobic and would not recommend a stay in the height of summer. In addition, lift was out of order so bags had to be carried up 3 flights of stairs. No porterage service available. Very pleasant surroundings but the rooms were over priced considering the lack of basic facilities.

The area outside was amazing, but the room where I was staying was very very dark, it also had no air conditioning, was right by the entrance of the building also had some really loud people shouting and talking and sitting with their cars running in a no parking zone for quite some time.

Very crowded reception area for checking in - two wedding parties arrived at the same time. Our room overlooked the car park and we were kept awake until gone 2.00am by drunken guests arguing and shouting outside. Room only has single glazed windows so even if there are planning restriction secondary double glazing could be added. This would help a lot, especially as the fan light window didn't close properly.

This hotel was stunning however the room i was in (517) was the nosiest room I’ve ever stayed in, the door goes constantly and the light turns on every five minutes. It kept me awake for two days straight.

Lovely views but none of the staff I interacted with were even vaguely helpful. The venue is on a steep hill so be aware as breakfast was served at the top of the hill but the accessible rooms are at the bottom of the hill. Pretty location but tiny beds for two (4’6”) and small rooms with just the very basics like a bed, wardrobe and lights. That’s pretty much it. Wouldn’t go back.

Fabulous welcome and the staff all round where accommodating friendly and made the trip amazing, seriously the team everywhere were great. Dinner in Blossoms was fantastic and service was outstanding- couldn’t fault it and really recommend

Beautiful grounds and stunning buildings. Rude staff - especially the judgmental receptionist who spoke down to my husband as he was dressed in his scruffs having been fishing in the England final on Rutland so wasn't as well dressed as other guests checking in for a wedding party. No Wi-Fi in the Stable Mews despite being told the property has free Wi-Fi. Over an hour to check in if you arrive the same time as a wedding party. Paper thin walls/ceilings. Insulting £50 deposit demanded on check in despite no warning in paperwork. Mouldy, clinical bathroom with no toiletries - silverfish as room mates complimentary though! Horrendously hard bed - the sofa was more comfy to sleep on for three nights. No spa on site despite the name of the property. To top it off, the housekeeping staff let themselves in 30 minutes before check out time to start turning the room around. Honestly, avoid this place. What a joke. If I hadn't prepaid, I would have cancelled on checking in and found a Premier Inn or similar.

Quite possibly the most frustrating check in and Check out experience that I have ever encountered. Despite filling out the pre check in information including an arrival time,when I arrived at reception there was literally a queue out the front door and into the car park. The irrelevant attempted conversation from the check in hostess is a clear indication that no one is reading the room, people are stood in line waiting to get to their rooms, stop the question time and come up with an efficient booking in system. Dinner was excellent, I am referring to the food, beautifully cooked and hot, unfortunately the service was at best amateurish, the maitre d welcomed us, seated us and took our drinks order, great, guess what, the drinks never arrived! The server turned up to take our order and asked if we wanted drinks? We told her drinks were ordered 15 minutes ago when we sat down, our food order was taken and she reappeared a few moments later with the drinks saying they had been prepared but no one brought them to us. Quite possibly the most frustrating check in and Check out experience that I have ever encountered. Despite filling out the pre check in information including an arrival time,when I arrived at reception there was literally a queue out the front door and into the car park. The irrelevant attempted conversation from the check in hostess is a clear indication that no one is reading the room, people are stood in line waiting to get to their rooms, stop the question time and come up with an efficient booking in system. Dinner was excellent, I am referring to the food, beautifully cooked and hot, unfortunately the service was at best amateurish, the maitre d welcomed us, seated us and took our drinks order, great, guess what, the drinks never arrived! The server turned up to take our order and asked if we wanted drinks? We told her drinks were ordered 15 minutes ago when we sat down, our food order was taken and she reappeared a few moments later with the drinks saying they had been prepared but no one brought them to us. We chose this hotel as we were a group of friends meeting up from various locations. The hotel is lovely and the waterside location stunning. We were given a private room for our group meal. No complaints that I was aware of. Very good breakfast. Plenty of choice from cereals to yoghurt and fruit and full English and pastries. The hotel is the perfect spot for exploring Rutland Water and the local area.

The hotel has a beautiful setting by Rutland Water .However our room and particularly the bed was very small .The restaurant was overpriced and with a very poor ambiance so we decided to eat in a very good Italian restaurant in Oakham.The policy of putting down 50pound deposit was insulting so we certainly will not stay again

Visiting area for one night. Beyond sleeping and eating at venue no other facilities used. Good choice of breakfast. We did eat in restaurant on Saturday night. Seriously expensive… and not up to standard for amount paid. Overall. Reasonable price for room and breakfast. Staff pleasant. Eating in the restaurant expensive for the quality.

Fabulous welcome and the staff all round where accommodating friendly and made the trip amazing, seriously the team everywhere were great. Dinner in Blossoms was fantastic and service was outstanding- couldn’t fault it and really recommend

It’s obvious that every single corner of this beautiful destination is well maintained and cared for. It’s not state of the art or brand new, but it’s beautifully looked after. It’s not ostentatious but super comfortable and high quality. The spa area was a fantastic treat. The food in Blossoms was outstanding. The team were discreet, yet warm and friendly. I couldn’t fault a single thing.

Nice room with a lovely view over Rutland Water. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. At night it was very dark and quiet. Breakfast was good with a wide choice of cooked and cold food.

Didn't like the fact that I paid £100 for the room and was given a smallish room on the bottom floor. Directly outside my window was a retaining wall with a really bright light that shone into my room meaning I had to close the curtains earlier than I would of liked, then the light bulbs in the room are those modern filament ones, that didn't give off a particularly great amount of light meaning I had loads of lights on just to try and do some work. The desk in the room was small and was tucked close to a table with water on it and a wardrobe behind it. I ate at the restaurant, food was lovely, but given I ate on my own, wasn't the biggest or most complicated order in the world and the waiter forgot to pour and bring me my drink over with my meal. When I mentioned this at the point of settling my bill, they did remove it off my bill and gave me a free drink to compensate which was nice.

Wonderful Hotel super views great room and sumptuous dinner. Breakfast was a little disappointing after a great dinner only one chef running a full buffet style breakfast with overdone bacon and sausages dried out under the hot service lights I had to ask for fresh everything as there wasn’t eggs mushrooms tomatoes or fried bread

Beautiful hotel in beautiful grounds. Room was lovely had a king bed but was two singles put together with separate duvets and sheets which was a little strange. Don’t eat at the restaurant really slow, things missing from our food, hugely overpriced and not cooked well.

Good location with enough to do around for a short staycation. Staff were really helpful. Maybe because of the season, there were more flies and cobwebs than I would have expected in the room, but overall I felt comfortable in it given the heat spike. The restaurant is on the pricey side but with novel options and attentive staff. There could be more dedicated cycle parking space.

Lovely place, we had a lake view room and it was beautiful, room 513. From our balcony we could see a colony of young housemartins, who were nesting under the eves, flying around and back to their nests, just lovely. My husband has problems walking, we called reception to ask if the buggy could pick him up and it was there within minutes. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. The menu in the restaurant was a bit limited, but we found something we liked. Breakfast had plenty of choice, however for me, the eggs were overdone and the bacon was streaky. Overall, a lovely weekend and a beautiful place to stay.

Overall the property and grounds are lovely, although I was there for a wedding so didn't have much time to explore and enjoy them properly. I also didn't use the spa so can't comment on that. The weekend was hot (but not heatwave) and the rooms were incredibly hot. There is no AC in the bedrooms and only 1 fan provided per room (not particularly powerful) which was a big downside, especially given the cost of rooms. The room was nice, mine had a balcony that could have been in better condition to be enjoyed (the furniture had cobwebs). Especially as it was too hot to stay inside the room. The staff were nice and tried to be accommodating where possible. On the plus side, the breakfast was a highlight - it was excellent for a buffet style breakfast. Lots of tasty options and great hot food selection.

We stayed in Rutland hall whilst visiting for a Wedding in the local area it was also our 34th Wedding Anniversary. On arrival the reception staff were friendly and helpful. We were allocated our room which was on first floor with lake view the lift are broken but think that is an ongoing problem. Our room was pleasant with a good size bed fridge broken. We had a wander round the grounds and lake which was pretty.. We ate on site in blossom restaurant fairly standard food think a little over priced but had a nice meal. We returned to our room at 2230 soon after we could hear a dog barking and crying in an adjacent room to which would stop briefly and the continue we obviously could not sleep and at approximately midnight I located the room next door banged on the door the dog had clearly been left on its own I rang reception who advised me they would come and see but that they and that they advised people not to leave dogs in their room alone that they might be at a wedding. Reception rang later disturbing my husband who was dosing in between the dog howling and crying to tell, us what we already knew that the dog was crying and barking and they would talk to the wedding venue. The dog did not stop till 2am when the owners then returned and had a gathering outside our room. Needless to say we will not be returning to this venue it might be dog friendly(not for this dog) certainly not people friendly. Second night was better and breakfast was good.
