Good location and great gym open 24/7

The staff is super nice and friendly! Always offering recommendations when needed. It is such a vibe with the bar and patio area and places to sit and relax. Easy to get around

Best gym ever. Lovely and interesting common spaces. Great breakfast. Cool vibe. Rooms ideal for one but difficult if with another- small details like the ability to control one light fixture rather than all-or-nothing, become important when you don’t want to wake your sleeping companion. Also room can be controlled centrally which also means that your lights and blinds may come on while you are asleep if a mistake is made centrally as happened to me.

The room was clean! Booked the CitizenM for our anniversary trip, staff surprised us with a sweet gesture (card and snacks). The hotel is in the perfect location. Quiet and very aesthetically pleasing hotel overall. Loved the bar in the hotel and the drinks of course!

The hotel is on the 4th floor with limited signage in front. Parking is two blocks away at $50 a day. I arrived in the middle of a heavy rain storm. They handed me an umbrella for the walk back. Facility is immaculate and perfect if you are not driving.

Great location. Loved that the restaurant was open 24/7, especially since we arrived at 1:30AM and hadn’t had anything to eat.

This is a very modern and stylish hotel, located near a major crossing from the Loop to the Magnificent Mile and a straight walk to the West Loop. In other words, a great place to stay if you like to walk—and Chicago is a truly great walking city. The service is exceptional—very nice staff and great technology that is not just clever, but it works reliably. The lobby and bar are decorated with great primary colors and has a capacious bar/breakfast space, an outdoor terrace and a living room. The individual hotel rooms are simple, but very nice. Breakfast buffet was outstanding in general, but also with terrific service and a very reasonable price.

Clean room and easy check in.

The hotel was very dirty, the room was not very clean and neither was the bathroom. and the AC vents were leaking water all night. The response from management was telling me to put towels on the floor.

Please upgrade your HVAC system. Could have fallen several times because of condensation on the floor. You are in a great location and have the potential to be beyond amazing. Your breakfast is awesome and the staff was very considerate. Shout out to Jack who makes sure you pay for the breakfast 😉

I read many reviews across business and casual travelers and I don't consider myself bourgeois- which is why I selected price over brand and quality but I'll probably never stay here again. Ok so pro's and cons: Pros's Great and engaging team members- great staff!! Very comfy duvet- I wanted to buy it. Absolutely perfect as my room never changed temps and I was cold (more on that later!) Amazing towels- so fluffy, soft and absorbent Nice common areas- I was amused and loved the decor. Plenty of space to spread out, work or just hang out. Cons small room -there's no way I could stay with another person due to no expectation of any privacy. Horribly hard/stiff bed- My back progressively felt worse every day of stay. I do 12-20 trips a year; I can sleep virtually anywhere without issue; this was THE WORST BED I've ever slept in. The temp never changed despite my adjustments via the ipad. Nothing ever blew other than the ventilator to circulate air. There was puke outside the door for a full day (early AM when i left for work to late day- after 6 pm when i retuned); we couldnt clean that as soon as discovered? no real amenities here and I get itsscaled down for price. But go across the street to L7 for similar pricing (i certainly will!) and more quality. Leave this for backpackers who want a bed for a night or two.

Everything is perfect, the only issue was the AC was leaking water and I didn’t sleep because it. I reported to the staff and they only sent cleaning team to put some towels in the floor. Location good, really close to rivewalk.

I've stayed at hotels across the spectrum—luxury, boutique, budget—and never encountered anything as unsafe or misrepresented as CitizenM Chicago. We checked in late on July 3rd and were assigned a room via their glorified self-check-in kiosk. It was unbearably hot, the AC was broken, and the ceiling vent was leaking onto the floor all night. By morning, half the floor was soaked. My partner slipped twice and got hurt. Sleep was impossible. The front desk agent told us, word-for-word: "All the rooms leak. It's because it's summer. Even if I move you, I can guarantee the next one will too." They moved us to a larger handicap room—same issue: no AC, dripping vent, soaked floor. We were told to check out if we didn't like it…on July 4th weekend, during NASCAR, when every hotel was sold out. We were trapped. Other "features" of this $650+ stay: - 70°F fridge - No ice machines - A useless in-room iPad - Lights that failed - A dim, tiny TV - Two outlets—total Every request met with: "Come to the lobby yourself." We contacted Expedia. The hotel initially refused to refund. Only after I rejected Expedia's insulting $25 "OneKeyCash" did they finally push a full refund through—days later. Let that sink in: we had to fight for a refund on a dangerous, uninhabitable room. CitizenM markets itself as minimalist chic. In reality, it's cheap, broken, and unapologetic. Not hospitality—just dysfunction with branding.

Was just very drity

Pretty cool hotel with a modern vibe. The rooms are small with the bed up against the wall, so it’s surrounded by 3 walls. It was just a little weird because one of us (between my husband and I) would have to climb over the other if we had to get up in the middle of the night. This is the first time I’ve stayed at a hotel that didn’t supply wash cloths or cups in the room (they did supply towels). There’s also no coffee maker in the room. The staff were friendly and it was pretty quiet for being downtown. The location is great!

Nice hotel. Good energy and great location. Restaurants and bar and common areas are good form hanging out. Only shortcoming of the hotel is that the rooms are very small and the configuration of the bed being closed in on three sides made it difficult for two people to share and get in/out comfortably.

The sirens and loud vehicles at night called for a horrible stay. Every night there was so much noise and the rooms advertised SOUNDPROOF! Not true at all. The rooms are also like cruise cabins rooms, very small.

Great location, close to riverwalk and public transit. There are lots of walkable places to eat. 4 stars for overall rating because of the room size. The room was slightly too small for me and my husband. Would have liked some more space to sit and eat or watch TV. You'd have to hop into bed to watch TV.

Pro's: nice staff, clean, good location, fun pop art everywhere. Con's: No valet parking! 50$ at a garage. No one to help with luggage. Minimalist room furnishings means no drawers to put away clothes, no place to put luggage, no place to put toiletries in bathroom, a sink the size of an airplane sink (water everywhere.) AND NO PHONE CHARGING STATIONS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE BED?!?!? Only on shelf across the room. 😳

I am disappointed to have to leave this review. The hotel is stylish, with comfortable beds and nice location but that is where the good news ends. The bathrooms are in a glass enclosure in the center of the room, allowing zero privacy. This is the first hotel I have ever been to that didn’t offer their guests coffee in the morning. Not even a coffee maker in the room. And when I asked the bartender at the restaurant if there was coffee for the guests anywhere, she rang me up ($7 for 2 drip coffees) with an attitude I’ve rarely seen. Service was truly hit or miss. Cleaning during your stay literally only consisted of making the bed and changing the towels. If you’re okay with a very expensive mixed bag, take your chances.

The common spaces were fun and accessible. The room was smaller than expected- the king size bed was the width of the room so only accessible from one side. The shower and bathroom door were frosted glass - fine for my husband and me but it would be awkward to share with others.

This hotel appears to be geared toward "tech bro types," it seems. They have a kiosk that you need to use to check in yourself and make your own room key. After traveling all day, I appreciate a warm welcome and a staff member to assist me with these things. There were no washcloths or hand towels in the room, but one of the staff members who was at the front desk (not checking folks in) was nice and went and got me some. Also, I want an iron in the room, not down the hallway, and one that works, not some strange iron that you need to read directions (7 steps) on the poster on the wall in a very dark "iron heaven" room! They are just trying to be too tech/hip for their own good. The lobby space and lounge area were nice.

Person who helped me check in was fabulous- very funny, friendly and helpful. I forgot her name but she was African American with long braids. Also the room was impeccably clean and comfortable

First time at CitizenM, and I really liked it. The ipad controls felt a bit confusing to start but I got the hang of it eventually! Staff were superb, so friendly and helpful. Canteen had plenty of choice. I would have appreciated coffee in the room, but also appreciate that might be a Brit thing. Overall I would recommend and will stay again.

Front desk staff at check-in was extremely rude, rooms are very small especially for more than 1 person, location is great. Lots of usual amenities like robes or water bottles not available. No option of having anything brought to room, essentially a self service hotel which we didn’t realize. Likely wouldn’t recommend staying here until trying to be on a budget, you get what you pay for in terms of price. If you don’t care or aren’t picky about usual perks of a hotel, then this is a good option in a good central location.

The front desk there are rude, I met 2, first one is a lady, and second one is a man, but all them are very impatient, what’s worse, the room was sooooooo small, I can’t even opened up my suitcase! I won’t choose CitizenM again

Ambassador went out of his way when the place was overbooked. He needs a raise!!! Went above and beyond to accommodate us at 2am due to flight delays.

Great location to start any city exploration. Rooms are very small. No coffee machine in room. Street noise can be on the loud side at night, especially on weekends when people with modified exhaust systems on cars or motorcycles need to show off. Since the surrounding streets have 2 decks/layers, the sound of these modified cars and motorcycles is amplified...maybe the city of Chicago should consider a noise ordinance at one point :-)

First time solo travel and decided to stay with CitizenM and it was COMPLETELY worth it, in an ideal central location to many of the attractions available around the city and super close to millennium park, loved it and found it easy to navigate around and if you book at a good time the price is reasonable. 10/10 would 100% book again.

Super fun place to stay in the heart of Chicago. The lights and shades are controlled by an IPad. One of the many features is the ability to change the color and intensity of the lights. There are also built in "mood" sound tracks to play to help you unwind, relax, or focus. The location couldn't be better, just steps from shopping, river strolling, and amazing restaurants.

Very clean room with such fun features. We loved the curtains/blinds controls, the colors, and especially the shower!!! Would have preferred an additional sheet below the duvet cover. Also, shelves are ok but what about drawers?? Door to bathroom slammed really hard and loud. Everything else was awesome especially the breakfast!!!

I love the ipad to control everything Only downside was having to go back down to the 4th floor just to fill up our water bottles, and when my wife and i were just having a drink and watching tv in the common area i ordered chicken nachos, the bartedner said theres not alot of chicken on them, which i said it was fine , i didnt see any chicken as i started eating Figured it was burried under the mound of sour cream there ended up being no chicken at all and we didnt feel like waiting for them to cook any chicken but other than that a little noisy in the room on the 12 floor , but still a good experience

This hotel is great for location and has a wonderful covered Patio. The service is not up to par. I don't want self check in. Complimentary coffee should be a minimum, I went to Starbucks rather than pay them for coffee. The ironing room might seem like a good idea but the lighting is dim, the steamer/iron is difficult to use and there could be a back up. Just put a regular iron in there and turn up the lights! Crawling over my husband everytime I had to get up and use the bathroom was a real annoyance as you can only access the bed from one side. The place looks great but doesn't function well.

Love the concept and the European influence, which, of course, means tiny. Not necessarily a bad thing, just getting in and out of bed for the person sleeping near the wall can be a bit awkward. The toilet/shower unit leaked onto the main room floor, not a deal breaker. 24 hour bar and food options, is a nice convenience. A small complaint; when I ordered one of their specialty drinks they were out of the ingredient. It seems to me if yu have a specialty drink on your menu you would be sure to have the necessary ingredients. Overall, quite good experience, with these minor complaints. A quite good breakfast option at a reasonable price. If you're looking for a fun European style experience, give it a try.
