Very nice motel with pretty flowers on property. Convenient to Thornton Gap exit at Shenandoah. Pool was very relaxing the one evening we used it. Just wish that it was open past 8 PM so that we could have used it more. The town of Luray was nearby. It was a much quieter town than I expected. Not very touristy.

I found this place cozy. The furniture is in good condition and parking was super-easy. We particularly enjoyed the bonfire at night where we made s'mores. It was a wonderful experience overall. Communication with the hotel was very fast and reliable.

Spotless! Very nice with new renovations. Prices are very reasonable. Pet friendly is such a plus. Only complaint is the tub drained really slow while showering. Simple fix though! Would 100% recommend and stay again.

This motel was a refreshing step back in time. Clean rooms, charming front porch, extremely friendly staff and wonderful pool! There is even a yard next to the pool where my kids played frisbee. We only stayed one night but I would highly recommend. Ice maker was a plus, and I loved the beautiful hanging flower baskets.

This motel is a little dated but it was very clean and had all the needed amenities. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The pool was clean and refreshing with plenty of seating and shade on the patio which was surrounded by beautiful flowers. A short ride to town, very peaceful with a lovely view of the mountains.

Not far from the entrance to Shenandoah NP The hotel is clean, slightly dated but the beds and linens were fine. Pool is small but well maintained. Good value for the price. Not a fancy hotel, internet isnt great but we liked it a lot. Safe and well lit. I liked that they have a big ice machine by the office we could fill our cooler.

What a lovely motel. It appears to have been renovated so it’s up-to-date. My room was very very clean. My bed was comfortable. I had a huge screen TV and the staff was very nice. I really enjoyed my stay. We even got the fire pit going, and that was cool!

Close to both the luray caverns and the hiking trails at Shenandoah National Park. The pool was a huge plus for the kids. Wish the beds were a bit bigger but for a two night stay it was comfortable and affordable and well kept.

It was a very nice room, extremely clean. The motel room had definite upgrades. The bathroom was quite large. The door had a keyless lock. Definitely a top value for anyplace we’ve stayed in 2025. I only saw her at check in, but the clerk was bright and friendly and definitely on the ball.

Both the highway and the air conditioner are noisy. I found a hair in the towel and an ant under the pillow. The towel rack falls apart as soon as I touch it. No restaurant or convenience store nearby.

Hillside is a classic motel but with the rooms refurbished to a more modern look. We had a room with a queen size bed for two nights and admittedly it was cozy, meaning small. But it was clean and comfortable with no issues. The ac/heater is typical window style and was kind of loud but didn't effect our sleep. The motel is a couple of miles outside of town but easy to get to area restaurants. More importantly it was very convenient to get into Shenandoah NP, just a few miles east.

This basic, older motel was clean and mostly in good repair - there was a little peeling paint in the bathroom. Walls are thin, I could clearly hear the neighbors, along with both highway and railroad noise. But it’s a good value and its proximity to Shenandoah National Park is a plus.

Room was neat, clean and well maintained. The grounds and pool were also very well maintained. Check in/out quick and smooth and staff friendly and helpful. The only minor issue is the Wi-Fi trended on the slow side along with generally spotty cell service in the area. Well worth the fee for our four night stay. Would definitely recommend and go back if in the area again.

Check in was very simple. The room was a little dated, but was large and very comfortable. The doors do not have security latches, just a basic knob with a lock in it. This could be improved. Hotels.com under estimated the taxes, so my bill was a pinch more. Since they charge a CC fee, I took cash. Luckily I had enough to cover the additional taxes. The landscaping was maintained and pretty. Lot's of front porch seating available as well.

They have everything you would need from coffee maker to ice machine, even a small refrigerator to put in any leftovers from your restaurant visits. Will definitely stay here if traveling through Luray again.

Very quaint road side motel. Updated interior and enough space for our needs. Water pressure fantastic; however, the bed is hard as a rock. Be warned your windows are facing in the direct sight of people on the porch level they do have shades. Loud neighbors talking in porch late into the night kept us awake. Overall pleasant trip and stay. Convenient location to the caverns and a cute downtown. Live music and scenic walks as well as yummy meals and cute shops was fantastic. Would recommend!

I was running very late getting to the Motel so they checked me in and left the door open with the key and paperwork to sign on the table. When I walked in I could not believe how big and clean this room was. On top of that everyone on the staff was kind and courteous. And the beds were the most comfortable Motel beds I ever slept in. I will be staying there again and I am thinking of doing a long weekend just so I can stay there and explore the area more.

The room was in poor condition. The tub dripped, The toilet ran and made noise throughout the night. The shower curtain was rusted out. The furniture was old and decor and the bed creaked. Located right on a highway so noisy. The staff was not accessible even during limited office hours. It had received a rating of 9 totally incorrect. They also charged a surcharge for using credit cards which made it expensive.

The room is the size of my closet. WE DID NOT REALIZE YOU MUST CHECK IN BY 8PM...The office closes at 8pm. Pool was not unlocked on time so we didnt get to use it.

My husband and I took a weekend trip to Luray. The Hillside Motel was a nice place to stay. It was close to Luray Caverns and some other places we wanted to visit. The employee that checked us in, Samantha, was very friendly and helpful! The rooms were standard and very clean. The decor is outdated and it could use some upgrading but it is obvious they take care in the motel. I would have no issues staying here again.

A great location, very clean, small little gem... We were traveling on the Skyline Drive, this was close to the drive and not far from Luray, which has plenty of restaurant options. Room has a small frig and microwave too. Great choice! Would choose again in the future

We enjoyed our stay and wish we could have arrived earlier in the day. Food in area was good with many options. Swing set was a hit and we all slept well.

The lady who checked us in was very friendly. The room was adequate, but the fragrance was overpowering. No breakfast was surprising, as well as the envelope asking for tips, when we paid so much for our room. The view was very pretty, and it was quiet.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hillside motel. It was very convenient to Shenandoah National park. The bed was comfortable, everything was clean, and the staff was very friendly. We ate at Brookside restaurant for breakfast and it was super close with good food. I would recommend the Hillside Motel to anyone traveling to Shenandoah NP or wanting a quiet getaway.

I know the problem with the internet was mostly the location but I couldn't even make phone calls. I did tell the office lady it wasn't working but there wasn't much she could do. My only other issues was there weren't many good restaurants near by. Mostly fast food unless you wanted to drive several miles.

This is a Motel very close to the Shenandoah park with the beautiful surranding and nice restaurant close by. Even the facuality is a little bit old, it is a nice alternative for cabins inside the park considering the lower cost.

The motel itself was clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It’s a little dated but everything was clean and working. I’d probably want an updated list of attractions and restaurants (especially delivery!), maybe some way to purchase snacks and extras from the office. Great place for peace if you’re traveling and want some downtime. Would definitely book again.

This place is a true gem in Luray, VA. Located close to Shenandoah National Park and Sky Line Drive. We love the fire pit, ice for our coolers when we go tubing, friendliest staff around. They accommodate late check ins. Order food from Domininco’s!!! so freaking good.

I really enjoyed the fact that this was an older property that has been well maintained. Brought back nostalgia of simpler times, the room was clean and had mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and internet, The staff are super friendly, great local restaurants. I highly recommend staying here for a weekend get a way to Luray, Skyline drive.

Clean room but could have used more shampoo and soap. Staff did not freshen up room during the day, would have liked clean towels and trash removed. Pool was closed and ice machine was broken. Plenty of parking and grounds were clean and inviting.

We really enjoyed the stay and would definitely stay again. The front desk person was fantastic and very helpful. The room was clean, smelled great, updated and comfy. It was raining but the pool looked very enjoyable as well. We were going to check in late, after 8pm, so they emailed me the pin to get into our room and contact number if we needed anything else.
