There was a huge power outage in one half of the resort. There was no communication by hotel to me about what was as still available. No wifi, no gym, no restaurants. Management did not inform the guests.

Canto keeps the bars open until midnight, causing a very loud and drunken atmosphere until the drinkers pass out. The beach area was hit by a hurricane many years ago, burying all the palupas in sand, and Canto has not raised thetops, necessitating one to crawl under them. The food used to be somewhat special, but is now simple and repetitive. Staff is wonderful.

No water for few hours one day. Other day no hot showers. We waited for room towels one day. Other than that room ok Swimming pool was excellent with hot water. Abundant chairs around. Entertainment great, as drinks and snacks. Beach a few steps away with plenty of chairs. Plenty of food at the restaurant. Will be great if more variation of meat/chicken. It’s a great place for families. Very safe

I liked that there were different sections with a pool, so if you felt like having a quiet pool day, you could hang out at the mountainside pool and still be close to a bar and i loved the ceviche! It was a bummer that the beach right out front was a steep drop and too dangerous, but walking down a bit it was better. It was really clean, but a little older and showing its age. There were a lot of eating options, but sometimes difficult to get a reservation. The surf and Turf was my favorite. The buffet was hit and miss as most buffets are. Staff are super friendly and the overall stay was good.

This trip was a total disaster due to a rainstorm the first night there. 80% of the resort was shut down and nothing was done to rectify it. Left with a small extremely overcrowded pool, very poor cantina food and shabby AC. Left after 1 full day. No refunds or transfers offered.

Liked pool areas, dining was good, entertainment was very nice. All workers were very friendly and helpful and attentive to our needs. Only wish wheelchair access was alittle more convenient to get to my room. Liked the easiness of getting taxie rides.

Staff is attentive, the pool is large, didn’t have problems finding pool or beach chairs. The food is average but the specialty restaurant was very good. I’ve been here several times, it’s a great place for a short stay. The kids club and water park is fun for the kiddos.

The hotel was clean and everyone was pleasant. The food was amazing and so many choices! The pool is large and the kids spent most of the time swimming, such a fun time! The beds were comfortable except we found a giant cockroach in our room one day. The cleaners repeatedly also only brought 3 towels everyday even though there was four of us. We tipped extra for another towel and it ws back to 3 the next day. They also didn’t bring toilet paper for the last few days so we were ripping through the facial tissue paper after a bout of food poising (from off resort). Gross hahaha. The room was also way too hot and after i commented on it, the maintenence man came up and fiddled with stuff and said it was fixed...it was not. It was 25-26 even after he left, we just suffered through it. Not ideal but we still had a blast!

We enjoyed everything about our stay except the bathrooms in our room were just gross gross gross. Mold and dirt, the rest of the room was good and the grounds were excellent, the staff were excellent.

This property was terrible. No water, no wifi, no AC and even the electricity was being an issue on day2. The pool has not been cleaned in a long time, there was birds flying around the buffet and landing on the hot plate picking at food and the staff did nothing to stop it.

La primera habitación que nos dieron fue un “ascenso” de la que reservé, según el personal del hotel. Fue una habitación muy, muy sucia. Las cortinas tenía manchas bastante grandes y marcadas, las paredes y techo también mostraban suciedad. La televisión se apagaba sin que nosotros lo hiciéramos. Es un hotel viejo, sin renovaciones y se nota. Aunque estaba sucio, lo pasamos, pero el gran problema fueron los otros detalles siguientes: La ventana de una de los baños estaba quebrada, de hecho le faltaba un vidrio. La ventana de una de las recámaras estaba estrellada y uno de los empaques de alrededor estaba roto. Las cortinas de las habitaciones no cerraban en su totalidad lo que resultaba en mucha luz aunque tuviéramos la luz apagada y además estaban desenganchadas de la parte de arriba. Una de las persianas de la cocina está an rotas y le faltaban tablas. Pedimos que nos cambiaran la habitación y accedieron, nos dijeron que nos dieron otro “ascenso.” En esta habitación no tuvimos mayor inconveniente. El control de la televisión no funcionó, las cortinas de la sala no estaban enganchadas, y la habitación no cuenta con renovaciones. El personal fue amable, hay opciones de comida, en el bufet me pareció que a la comida le falta sazón. Hay piscina para niños.

This resort was picked based off the stars it had and those stars are very outdated! The rooms are dirty, the food choice and quality is very poor, we knew we picked a 4 star but this resort at max a 2. It was actually so bad that we left and stayed somewhere else out of pocket. Roaches in our room, birds flying in the desert cabinet, fruit flies all over the fruit/veg in the buffet area. Black mold in the bathroom, only 1 a la cart for every 2 nights spent, no hotel maps to show you around. Overall, this is a badly managed hotel that seems to be more used by locals than tourists.

No vuelvo a regresar a ese hotel cuando llegué había una cucaracha e insectos muertos en la cama, ya en la segunda habitación había una fuga en la tina de baño y en la tercera no nos dejaron toallas, además de que no hubo agua caliente por día y medio

I had several things not work in my room the telephone didn’t work. The TVs were old and the speakers were blowing. The Wi-Fi wasn’t working. The tub wouldn’t run without the shower running at the same time and it wasn’t running properly so it wouldn’t fill up. They came to fix these things, but when we came back, I guess they left WD-40 in our bedroom and her five-year-old had it so they could be better cleaning up for sure they still didn’t fix any of the problems after they left all the same problems are still existed. All of their rooms. Definitely need upgrading. The property is amazing. The food is amazing but your rooms need to be like completely re-hauled.

Muy ruidoso. Las albercas la musica muy fuerte. En las noches mucho ruido. El elevador no funcionaba. La actitud de la muchacha dr cabello claro trabajando viernes en la mañana en recepcion muy mala. Deberian poner a alguien mas agradable. Todos los demas trabajadores muy bien

Very friendly staff who do a bang up job keeping the place clean and the guests happy. I read the reviews and was reluctant to come but the place was decent. I stayed in a king suite on the mountain side. One draw back was the sofa bed...kinda had to go.

We stayed 3 weeks in march. We had my husbands celebration of life in puerto vallarta. He just wanted to go back 1 more time. We love puerto vallarta and its people been coming fir ivr 20 yrs. 1st time at canto del dol. All 22 of us. Where to start. I email months ahead foe a month centrally located and possible ground floor worh balcony. We paid for controlling ac fridge refill daily the other extras. Got in early but no checking til 2ish. Your bags sit in lobby. Not in secure room. Anyone can grab your luggage. We book partial ocean with perks. 1st room was way in 300s and a wall view. Way too far too walk for someone with bad knees. 8Surgeries. Next day mived us to to 105. King size bed and they would bring us a cot. 10 pm at night i went myself and got cot then we begged for linens. About 1140 pm finally got to bed. A/c died. Maintainence couldnt fix. Not like we could open patio door for air ,we didnt have a screen. Our room was 28c. Horribly hot. Finally i got to someone who would finally listen, chris, head guy apparently of guest relation. back up to 3rd floor but we oceanview room and we were suppose to be able to contol temp.not. now no fridge not getting fridge stocked,really..we had room attached to suite.Just open to ajoining door Not hard.Finally,we got door open and they added us to list to refill fridge. THEN people on other side came into our room roaming about. Last straw. They screwed door shut from our side. Nationals treated like royalty. Never again

Good location with Oxxo and pharmacies right outside. Gorge at the bar was excellent. The Italian restaurant had one of the best beef fillets I’ve ever had with excellent service from our waiter Martin. The ceviche was delicious and snack bar was decent. Overall a lack of quality liquor, even with our VIP upgrade. The shower barely had any water pressure and took forever to heat up. No fridge in room and they do not restock the water bottles in the room, we got 2 bottles for the entire stay. The building is showing its age and the buffet wasn’t bad but it wasn’t really that good either. What sets this place apart is the excellent service from all the personnel working there. What brings it down is the building condition and the lack of reservations available for the dinners. The lounge music at the lobby bar at night was a nice atmosphere. Don’t know that I would return.

The kitchen in our room was bear. No dishes, TV remote, safe was locked, no luggage holder, AC noisy. Front door lock broke. Other rooms appeared to be okay with all amenities described in website. We just had a lemon.... Staff was very responsive.

We stayed at Canto Del Sol in a 2-bedroom luxury suite for the second year in a row. Huge shoutout goes to buffet servers Miguel and Jesus, pool server Gladis, omelette maker Monica and concierge Leonel. Great family resort, consistent food throughout. Great location, close to downtown and the airport. Only complaints this year were the terrible wifi and hard beds but we will return with our family again.

Horrible check -in and check -our experience. No instructions given at Check-in. At check-out I left the key in the room ( like I have done at reputable resorts) but at this place one if the women working at the front desk told me to go back to my room and bring her the key or else she'll charge a fee. I told her it was okay then she changed her mind and told me she'll call the police if I did not go to the room and bring the key to the front desk. I told her I would not and she can call the police. Finally a male employee went to the room and got the key. Worse service and treatment I have ever experienced. This was a last minute weekend getaway and not too many hotels with suite floorplans were available so I booked Canto. Needless to say I would never stay there again and I do not recommend it to anyone. My one star is for the very few employees who tried to be attentive. Overall, it was a terrible stay

We had a great stay the whole staff was kind, helpful and worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. The only issue we had was the help at the front desk and security when it came to getting back a stolen phone. They were rude and condesending.

The front desk staff was not helpful. I had to call Expedia to sort my issue out. The Expedia rep got us in contact with Cristobal who was excellent. The front desk refuse to listen to us. Make the tone of the stay not good to start with. The properity was very clean. The servers were excellent. Asked for a 12 pm check out, was flat out old no by the front desk.

This trip would have been great had the front desk staff wasn’t there! The fact you have a non English speaking front desk caused nothing but confusion and conflict and they were so rude and treated us like we shouldn’t be there! Even checking out we were told we could keep our beach towels till a certain time. When we returned them they tried to charge us for them ? We had male staff come into our room when we were in there, and we were a travel group of 3 women! Honestly the whole front end staff needs to be let go, bag boys and front desk so sad! Now, entertainment and food and beverage staff. Completely different story. They made this resort worth staying at! Special shout out to Sonia and Alberto for taking such good care of us! Would we go back? Prob not . The food was soooo awful and the same every day. The front end staff felt like they were trying to catch us in something and just treated us so poor. You should not treat ur guests like they should not be there and they are an inconvenience. They made me feel unsafe and like I had to be careful what they were going to do or say we did. Very disappointed

The resort was clean. However , the service was terrible. The service at the bar took forever. The swim up bar was not open. The restaurant’s took forever for supper. Waited over hour and half for the meal. Didn’t even wait for dessert left before. The buffet was very limited and had the same food for all meals. Fruit was very limited. If you have a later flight and want to have a late checkout by an hour or 2. It costs you extra basically charge for another day. Nothing is free at this resort. Anything they can they will find a way to charge you to make extra money. Towel to dirty, bed sheets get wet.. they will charge you for “damages”.

The location of the property is really good- very close to the beach and in the heart of the city, but the food could have been better. I have been doing all inclusive vacations for years now and this was the worst food ever( buffet) the speciality restaurants were great though.!! Just a friendly suggestion- make sure to get reservations for speciality restaurants as soon as you arrive cuz spots get up pretty fast. Staff was great and drinks were great.!!! All in all it was a good vacation for the price we paid, but the buffet could have been better.!!!

Liked pool areas, dining was good, entertainment was very nice. All workers were very friendly and helpful and attentive to our needs. Only wish wheelchair access was alittle more convenient to get to my room. Liked the easiness of getting taxie rides.

Canto de Sol provided everything we needed for our spring break. We had unlimited drinks, food and services. Staffs were all friendly and helpful whenever we needed help. I would come back to this property and recommend to friends and family. Property was located close to a bus stop so it was real easy for bus transportation into Centro PV.

Well located and clean all inclusive. Very well situated by the ocean and city. Staff are helpful and friendly. The buffet was okay and the reservation restaurants were just a bit better than okay. The Surf and Turf by the water was good. A good mix and young and older people so if was perfect for my daughter and I.

It is good overall, staffs were super friendly and helpful. Close to the beach. Two indoor pools and one kid pool with mini slides and water spray. The room condition is average, could be improved. There are 6 restaurants inside the resort, but most of them require reservation. The dishes in the main buffet remained the same during our stay.

Todo el personal estuvo muy atento y amable. Del personal no tengo ninguna queja, al contrario, gracias a ellos mi estancia fue agradable. Sin embargo, la calidad de las comidas, y de las bebidas dejan mucho que desear. En el bufet, no hay selección de alimentos y los que había, no tenían buen sabor. Definitivamente, no volveré a hospedarme allí. Siento que por lo que pagué, yo esperaba mejor calidad de alimentos y de bebidas. Las habitaciones estaban limpias pero ya en necesidad de hacer muchas mejoras. Los muebles son muy viejos y deteriorados. No lo recomiendo.

Falta variedad en los alimentos, en 4 días prácticamente los mismo todos los días, los restaurantes de especialidades y en general manejan una especie de atención que te invita a pedir poco y a retirarte lo antes posible, los meseros te dan una bebida y con trabajo regresan el problema es que no tien3s acceso directo a tomar tús propias bebidas, en general es mala calidad alimentos y snack, los televisores tienen un sistema malo de satélite y son tvs viejas, los colchones se sienten los resortes, en mi cuarto no podía controlar el aire acondicionado y tivieron que ir tres veces a destapar el excusado, he ido tres veces ahí y esta última ves dejó michísimo que desear

Staff is attentive, the pool is large, didn’t have problems finding pool or beach chairs. The food is average but the specialty restaurant was very good. I’ve been here several times, it’s a great place for a short stay. The kids club and water park is fun for the kiddos.

We loved our stay at Canto del Sol! The food was excellent, the Buffett always had different options. The staff are very friendly and work hard to make the resort a fun and inviting place. The entertainment was awesome! We especially enjoyed the Comedy Show. The whole family was in tears laughing. Our room was very basic but we chose not to pay a premium for a nicer room. The beds were comfy though and it was clean. We didn’t mind the walk from the pools to our room. There are beautiful plants and flowers through the property. The main pool was very fun with entertainment for the kids and adults. We enjoyed grabbing a burger and fries at the snack bar. They have other options as well. There is also a Ceviche place that has delicious food, as well as ice cream. We went to the Surf and Turf restaurant one evening at sunset. They set the tables up overlooking the beach and the atmosphere, service and food were an experience that we won’t forget. Overall, we were so impressed with this resort and would definitely come back. The location is not far from the Malecon and we just took an Uber that cost around $5 Canadian. Thank you to the staff at Canto del Sol for making our vacation amazing!
We loved our stay at Canto del Sol! The food was excellent, the Buffett always had different options. The staff are very friendly and work hard to make the resort a fun and inviting place. The entertainment was awesome! We especially enjoyed the Comedy Show. The whole family was in tears laughing. Our room was very basic but we chose not to pay a premium for a nicer room. Food:There are not 4 restaurants available all the time. There is only one buffet with semi good food. It’s small, they do not replace items in a timely manner. The drinks are water down and hot. The desserts and bread are not appealing are extremely dry. Even the Mexican options are not tasteful. The only delicious menu items are the fruit and the made to offer items (omelets and speciality food). Please note: there are no designated foods for small children. If your child is a picky eater do not come here. They didn’t even have bananas or oranges available. Pools: the pools across the buffet bar are clean and well kept. There is one pool in front of the receptionist desk and that one is outdated with tanning chairs being torn. Hotel room Provided bare minimum of items. They had no running hot water in our room. When we let them know they said it was down and could take up to week and they said they would let us take a shower in another room (was not offered to switch rooms until our last night which by then we declined) and then had to return the key back after each use. We also had a tv with no control. No smoke detectors in any rooms. The electricity in the rooms are tied to the light stands (only lighting in rooms-once the sun goes down you can’t really see anything) so once you turn it off, any items plugged in are also turned off. WIFI-no WiFi was available until the last night of our stay. It was disappointing since we had work and items to look through.

Food was really good. People working there were really friendly music and fire dance shows great every night. Some of the sand on the beach was washed out in a storm last year but we swam anyway.

The staff were nice, the drinks were weak but good, it's an older hotel. Watch your credit card after you check out! I have a charge on there I'm still trying to get an answer!!!

Canto Del Sol is centrally located within walking distance to everything. This area is very safe and friendly neighborhood with plenty of beach area to enjoy. All inclusive is great with good selection of drinks and food. The specialty dinner restaurants are fantastic and service is great throughout the resort Sergio is in charge of the restaurant captains and staf he is a great and caring man. Also Ceasar is a fantastic restaurant captain who makes sure everything is great. Sergio in the guest services is also a fantastic host and he will take care of anything you need he will make sure you are happy. Make sure to say hello to Angie making great food in the breakfast buffet and Chuy and Miguel are fantastic waiters there as well.
