With the help of the staff, I was able to locate its car park. Secondly, the facilities are quite new & modern, except no hand soup in the toilets, making me feel unclean after use. My room 15 could hear someone talking next door and the closing of door, esp. toilet and shower room doors could be quite loud.

This place dosen't have any food and only drinks. The staff are very friendly but theres no 24 concierge. Concierge is simply the bar staff downstairs. The washrooms have no soap dispensers. The rooms automatically lock and that's bad if you forget your key because again, there's no 24 hr concierge to help you. Your'e looking at a 6/10 stay here and you get what you pay. The bedding is only partially clean but the rooms are quite clean overall. Would definitely not stay here again but it is priced fairly.

It was fine. It is a pub and this is pretty standard, even a bit better than usual for a pub. Shared toilet and shower but it was clean and recently renovated, so quite sleek.

This was a very good place to stay. Bus stop right outside to the city and/or a train station. Heaps of parking. I am sure my air conditioner was not working room always hotter than the hallway but I just used the fan function and it was fine for the time spent in there

I liked the location it was easy to find, the parking was great, friendly staff, the room very clean & welcoming. The Illinois hotel was one of the nicest hotels Ive visited in Sydney I would definitely visit again 😊 I didnt like walking from my room to the bathroom late at night the hall was dark but lit up when i walked out of the room. The toilet was clean but again the lights turned off as i was still in the toilet i felt unsafe & had to turn my torch from my phone on to see. The location of the male toilet was too close to the female toilet which i felt unsafe using.

Absolutely disgusting stay. Super dirty place. Was a brothel, even cameras still in ceiling. Other peoples hair in my room etc. my room smelt of stale smoke which I’m now sick from. Highly do not recommend.

While waiting for check-in time, an evacuation alarm sounded! The owner was annoyed. “Someone’s smoking in their room and set the alarm off…again” The fire dept arrived a few minutes later. I mentioned that i was looking forward to be able to have dinner here, too. “Oh, no, we’re between caterers.” The room smelled of mildew/ mould and the walls looked like someone had hosed them down at some stage, with streaks and drips everywhere. Instant coffee, tea, sugar, kettle….nothing to stir them with. (I used a pen from my bag!) Enough milk for only two cups…when I asked for more milk on the second day, he handed me 4 little cup sachets. (Can you spare it?!) The showers had nowhere dry except two small hooks. One morning I went to brush my teeth, only to find green vegetation along the sides of the sink…like someone had dressed a salad in there!! This place is, quite simply, disgusting.

Rooms were clean and comfortable but shared bathrooms had huge cockroaches, which means the kitchen downstairs probably does too, so I would not want to eat there. Staff were very friendly.

The staff were wonderful. The rooms were reasonably clean, bed comfy but the pillows were lumpy and so old it felt dirty sleeping on them. The coffee cups were dirty, needed to hand wash before use but no sink in room so used boiling water and tipped into another dirty coffee cup. Fridge was broken. Window didn’t close properly, so no the noise from the road was constant. The shared bathrooms were renovated but no bench space only a free standing sink, and one hook, so no where to put clothes and toiletries etc. Floors were soaked, no bath mats and very dirty. Toilets were also very dirty and smelly. Such a shame as the bar area was lovely and the staff very welcoming and accomodating.

First room stunk like vomit and red wine. I asked for another room and the next one I pulled back the covers no top sheet and ?faeces and body fluids on quilt coming into direct contact with guest. . All rooms like this. No extra linen on site. Shared bathroom had nowhere to put your belongings off the floor. Staff were lovely and apologetic- refunded

For the room to be acceptably clean and for the experience of the stay to be fine would involve SO little effort in terms of just cleaning alone. The accommodation is loveless and feels like a last resort. Unfortunately there was: - no bins in unisex communal bathrooms - stained sheets - rubbish behind cabinets - coffee or beer stained cabinets - a whole sheet missing in that cheap bed wrap technique leaving me to sleep under a stained cheap plastic duvet.

It is very far from the Sydney harbor area so it cost a lot in rides to get back and forth. There is basically no service there. The window in the bathroom was literally missing, and it smelled like feet and cigarettes.

There was nothing to be liked, was for 6 nights there, no housekeeping came to my room! Had to chase them for milk and coffee. The bin overflow. No sink nor bath towel rail in the room had to put the towels over a upholstery chair, how hygiene is that for a week? Very noise windows faces Parramatta Route!!!

Our stay at the Illinois Hotel was overall a pleasant stay! Beds were comfy and bathroom facilities were excellent. William behind the bar was an absolute legend! As for the areas of improvement: • The fridge in our room (3) was not functional and didnt close properly. • The hotel manager was quite abrupt with his attitude towards us, and as we are new to the area it wasnt ideal. But overall he gave us all the information we needed to know. Thanks for the fun!

Staff pleasant. We only used the hotel to sleep basically - beds were comfortable. Room lacked any hanging space and mirror and only had one chair. Also a small bench for clothes would be helpful in shower room as though shower was efficient - much water splashed onto the floor and onto one’s clothes. The small wall hook wasn’t adequate. We would return however as good value.

The hotel felt like stepping into a dimly lit Twilight Zone episode. It was late and check in at the bar felt...offbeat, to say the least. But hey, I was tired and ready for some rest. Unfortunately, what awaited me upstairs was anything but restful. The room? Tiny. Think shoebox with a bed crammed in. And the lack of windows? Claustrophobic doesn't even begin to describe it. But the worst part? The air. Imagine a thick cloud of stale cigarette smoke infused with dust mites doing the can-can. My allergies went nuclear, and sleep became a distant dream. Every cough and shuffle from the paper thin walls became my unwelcome lullaby. Morning brought bleary eyes and a burning desire to escape. Thankfully, the manager acknowledged the subpar experience and offered a partial refund, which I graciously accepted. However, a word of caution for future travelers: this is a shared bathroom hotel. Privacy is definitely not on the menu here. Positives: Partial refund offered by the manager. Negatives: Tiny, windowless room, cigarette smoke smell, dust mites, shared bathrooms, noisy walls. Verdict: Avoid unless shared bathrooms and claustrophobic conditions are your jam.

Worst hotel we have ever stayed in. One star is too much. There was a horrible overpowering stench in the hallway, made us literally feel sick - like a wet dog had been rolling around in excrement. The room stank of cigarettes. The room was advertised as a ‘supreme queen room’ and completely misleading. Tiny room, barely any room for a single chair and a bed - and reminded us of a prison cell. The door frame was all cracked and looked like it had previously been kicked in and painted over. We had been booked in for a few nights but we cut our losses and left after one.

There was nothing to be liked, was for 6 nights there, no housekeeping came to my room! Had to chase them for milk and coffee. The bin overflow. No sink nor bath towel rail in the room had to put the towels over a upholstery chair, how hygiene is that for a week? Very noise windows faces Parramatta Route!!!

Nice little place. Unfortunately if you have a room facing the street the noise from the busy road will keep you awake all night. Otherwise it's a nice place.

It's modern, having been recently renovated, and great for bus travel into the city, with a bus stop right at the door. Happy to recommend for simple, easy stay. Issues are: I feel there's not enough showers and toilets for the number of rooms; my bedroom didn't have a mirror, so I took up a whole toilet room to do make up, hair, contact lenses which could be done in room; room didn't have any hooks for towels; the one channel I wanted to watch, ch10, didn't come over the TV; there was no instructions for air conditioning which I couldn't turn on and off. It's a simple cheap stay with easy bus travel, but needs a few more touches.

This was a very good place to stay. Bus stop right outside to the city and/or a train station. Heaps of parking. I am sure my air conditioner was not working room always hotter than the hallway but I just used the fan function and it was fine for the time spent in there

It is very far from the Sydney harbor area so it cost a lot in rides to get back and forth. There is basically no service there. The window in the bathroom was literally missing, and it smelled like feet and cigarettes.

While waiting for check-in time, an evacuation alarm sounded! The owner was annoyed. “Someone’s smoking in their room and set the alarm off…again” The fire dept arrived a few minutes later. I mentioned that i was looking forward to be able to have dinner here, too. “Oh, no, we’re between caterers.” The room smelled of mildew/ mould and the walls looked like someone had hosed them down at some stage, with streaks and drips everywhere. Instant coffee, tea, sugar, kettle….nothing to stir them with. (I used a pen from my bag!) Enough milk for only two cups…when I asked for more milk on the second day, he handed me 4 little cup sachets. (Can you spare it?!) The showers had nowhere dry except two small hooks. One morning I went to brush my teeth, only to find green vegetation along the sides of the sink…like someone had dressed a salad in there!! This place is, quite simply, disgusting.

Rooms were clean and comfortable but shared bathrooms had huge cockroaches, which means the kitchen downstairs probably does too, so I would not want to eat there. Staff were very friendly.

This place dosen't have any food and only drinks. The staff are very friendly but theres no 24 concierge. Concierge is simply the bar staff downstairs. The washrooms have no soap dispensers. The rooms automatically lock and that's bad if you forget your key because again, there's no 24 hr concierge to help you. Your'e looking at a 6/10 stay here and you get what you pay. The bedding is only partially clean but the rooms are quite clean overall. Would definitely not stay here again but it is priced fairly.

Cleanest rooms and shared bathroom I have seen in Sydney’s similar hotel. And provide coffee sachets and tea bags which is convenient for me, definitely will choose to stay in the next trip to Sydney.

Upon arrival, there was nowhere to park, even on the street, so I phoned up to be told the location of the car park - Cnr York & Parramatta Rd BTW! The staff were all very friendly and helpful though, and I was told explicitly no smoking in my room. At dinner, I nearly took my eye out, lifting myself up on a high stool and hitting my head on the corner of a high narrow shelf. Lower tables here would be much safer! My meal was great! There was a 21st on, so it was very noisy in the bar, but surprisingly it was quiet upstairs! The room smelled of cleaning products when I opened the door, and I was disappointed I couldn’t open a window to air it, so I left my door open for a while. Aside from that, the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The shared shower was intoxicated with cigarette smoke, it was terrible! I wondered whether that was coming from the Gambling Room below. Between midnight and 1am, people were coming and going from their rooms, and since the doors atomically close and lock, the constant banging disturbed my sleep. Then around 3am, I was woken again due to the smell of cigarette smoke in my room, it was overpowering - where was this coming from? I tried to increase the temperature on the air con, but those buttons didn’t work for some reason. I was able to change the setting thankfully and finally went back to sleep. Needless to say, I had a disturbed night’s sleep and felt very tired for my course the next day. My rating is low due to cigarette smoke.
