The Palms At Coco Beach

The hotel is one block from the beach and two-minute walk to the main street of the town where all restaurants are. Parking space is limited but parking on the street is allowed. The hotel is across street from a soccer field where games and practices happen during the evening, which make parking a challenge until they are over. In the restaurant, there are band playing almost every night when I was there. You can hear it from your room on the courtyard side. Staff is super friendly. Rooms are clean. There is a small market next door.

This property has a small shop that sells necessary items similar to a Circle K or 7-11 and alcohol. It was very convenient. Outdoor restaurant with a free breakfast included from 0700-1000. The swimming pool was clean with a smaller pool for children. Nightly activities included bingo, karaoke, and pool table. The staff was super hospitable, helpful, and friendly. Coco beach was a very short walk from the hotel as were little shops to purchase souvenirs. There were delicious restaurants nearby on the Main Street such as Indian, Mediterranean, Mexican, and Italian.

Enjoyed our one night stay so much the day we landed that I booked two more nights at the end of our trip. Very convenient to LIR airport if you arrive in the evening and want to drive somewhere close with good roads. Service was great and free breakfast was a nice touch! Best pool tables in town.

Updates were in progress during our stay but were by no means intrusive. The pool area with restaurant and bar are comfortable and well cared for. The rooms are basic and could use some updating but very clean and comfortable. Having a kitchenette in a Standard room with coffee maker was a big plus even though Coffee and the included breakfast are available from 7 AM in the restaurant/pool area. There is a convenience store attached to the property that was a real plus. Everything is within a 10 minute walk from the hotel. There is some noise occasionally from the nightly events in the restaurant but they never run past 10 pm or so. The beach is just a short walk (1/2 block from the hotel). The staff must be commended for ALWAYS being friendly and extremely helpful. Luis at the front desk was helpful with booking our excursion and Airport transfer. Carina at the restaurant was always there with a smile and excellent service.

Great hotel in coco. The room was clean and well stocked. They have a convenience store in the lobby to buy anything you need. On site is a restaurant and bar. The pool is amazing and clean. You can literally stay at the resort and cover all the bases. Parking is just outside the facility and is free. A short walk (<2 mins) from the hotel you are in the main city for bars and fun, also the beach. The staff here is multilingual and very friendly. I highly recommend staying here. I know I’ll be back

Great location next to the beach and the Main Street. Delicious food. great service:staff will arrange transportation. Different activities every night: Trivia night (Wednesday) Live band (Thursday), Karaoke nights etc... The pool surrounded by Beautiful Palms and flowers is just marvelous. A/c is powerful and works very well which is a must on many hot days. There is also a ceiling fan to keep you nice and cool. Bed is comfy and the music from the karaoke or live bands stops early enough to let you sleep well. Room was a bit small but very functional and super clean.

Great location, right by the beach. Friendly staff. The pool was nice to cool off. There is a poolside restaurant (fairly priced and the food except the sushi was good) and they had different activities like bingo, trivia games, open mike and live music in the evenings, which was a nice touch when we got in from our other activities and outings for the day or didn't want to venture out as it was so hot!

The staff at the Palms at Coco Beach were great. They are so helpful and happy all the time. The pool area with dining and activities was a great place to relax. The market was a convenient place to get snacks and cold drinks. We had a wonderful vacation and would return here. Pura Vida.

Fair price for this stay. Rooms are nothing special but very clean. Very friendly staff! We enjoyed the perfect pool and great food at the restaurant.

Great facilities and an awesome place to stay.

The pool area was pretty, the front desk clerks were helpful, linens were fresh and clean, and the AC worked. There was a sink, microwave, mini fridge, and a few dishes, cups, and silverware, which were much appreciated. But that’s the only positive things I can say about the property. I booked a quad room (4 double beds); there was a front room and a back room with a bathroom. The only windows (only in the front room) opened up to the hallway, so we had to keep the drapes closed or have people walking by look in on us. The back room had no windows which made everything dark and depressing and the overhead lights were cold LEDs which made it feel like a hospital. Many of the few outlets in the room were old and 1/2 broken — anything plugged in kept falling out and the only way to keep a connection was to push a suitcase up against it to keep it plugged in. There was black mold in the grout in the shower, and absolutely no warm water (let alone hot water) even with it turned all the way up. There’s a sign in the bathroom requesting toilet paper not to be flushed (that’s fine; I’m used to those scenarios) but the only garbage can in the toilet room didn’t have a lid; it was just a basket lined with a plastic bag — I’m fine not flushing toilet paper, but I don’t want to look at (or smell) the used toilet paper! Eww! The beds also had no headboards, just a mattress shoved up against the wall, making it feel more like a hostel. At $200+/night it was simply not a good value.

Booked room was next to the bar/restaurant and a but noisy. Dead cockroach on bathroom floor. We requested to change rooms and were accommodated. Waiting to see if we get partial refund.

In fact it opened to an INTERIOR walkway, and the only windows were to the interior, which was illuminated brightly through the night! We were in a bar cave! When I pointed this out to the staff and asked if they could relocate us, they blamed hotels.com and blamed us for using it! It also appeared the cleaners had not finished cleaning the shower; there was a dirty rag in the bottom and half empty shampoo and conditioner bottles on the ledge. So we were stuck in a dirty batcave. Additionally, the water heaters were not sufficient for the number of rooms and there was only lukewarm water half the time. We had a decent little kitchen setup but no supplies for washing dishes. The pool and restaurant were decent, but the noise from the restaurant was funneled into our interior hallway just in front of our door, even after when you'd want to put an 8 year old to bed. I wonder if Ken and Val, the owners who I heard about from others in town, had some kind of dispute with management and were dealing either with new management or with quiet quitting. At any rate, I'd normally give 2 or 3 stars for a place like this, but there is NO WAY this place has 8.7 stars for that kinda service and room quality or lack thereof. There must be a lot of fake reviews on here, and that gets docked a couple stars.

We liked this hotel, especially the very clean pool and the beautiful pool area.

We stayed here for the final night of our trip. It was relatively cheap and because of the price and excellent location, just a minute from the beach, I would recommend this for the budget conscious traveller. It is old and needs a fresh coat of paint in the rooms and some updates to the furniture. The rooms are also tiny. However, there is a pool that we enjoyed cooling off in. We were the most concerned about bugs getting into our room at this hotel because of the cloths covering the shower and sink drains and the age of the building. However, the room was sparkling clean and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony. We could also hear the music from the bar and people talking in the hall, but everything quieted down around 9pm. Breakfast is included and there are a handful of options. The gallo Pinto was good, but not the best we had at a hotel during the trip. Even though breakfast doesn't start until 7 am, the staff put out coffee and water for guests at approx 5am. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was even ready two hours before check in, though I don't know if that would be the case during high season. This hotel benefits from its low price and great location and for those reasons I would recommend it.

Unfortunately, we stayed there on a Thursday night which was open mic night. I wish this had been disclosed in the booking. We were tired from our flight and the music was ridiculously loud. There were about 10 people at the bar and they had the amps maxed. Our room was vibrating until 10 pm. So unpleasant. And the staff did not seem to care or offer any help. The rooms are also very bare bones and dirty. Even the walls were notably dirty. And no hot water in the shower. An awful start to our trip. The location is good and breakfast too.

All spaces, rooms, restaurant, interior, exterior, and grounds extraordinarily clean. Even the chrome condiment containers were wiped clean every use. Without exception friendly helpful staff. Eager to help. Anticipating customer needs. You were missing an opportunity if you don't book your stay at the Palms at La Playa Coco. It also includes cooked fresh free breakfast. On-site restaurant is above average and one of the top choices in town. Beds were comfortable.

The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was clean. But we saw four cockroaches in the halls and bathroom. Our room was really weird and no window to outside. It’s run down and old. Would not recommend staying here or staying in this area. There are much better places to see.

Very nice pool area, beach nearby, nice view of pool area from room with balcony ( well worth the extra cost)..rooms very small but functional. Bring earplugs if you are noice sensitive, neighbors noices heard. Breakfast ok but not very fancy.

Great place to stay near the beach. Rented a small room with balcony for two of us. It was definitely small but fit our needs, great a/c and comfy bed worked perfectly for us.

Great location less than a 5 min walk to the beach and restaurants. Clean hotel with good breafast and great staff. Some of the rooms however, including the family room, have no windows. All the pros make up for it but it's just good to know.

The Palms is a lovely hotel with a wonderful location a block from the beach. The staff is very accommodating, but this property may not suit all American tourists. The rooms are very small in general and the hot water doesn’t really work. If your room is on the second floor, you will have to walk up a flight of stairs.

The staff were polite but that is the only good thing. Room was prison cell like, shower didn't work, lights falling off the walls, bed pushed against the wall as room so small. TV couldn't be seen from bed, windows didn't open, door security bad, loud from within the hotel and the street, would not recommend at all. Drive further out of Coco Beach to get better hotels.

The room was too small. The shower was extremely small, barely had room to turn in the shower. The breakfast was really good. Parking is on the street in front of the hotel.

Nice little hotel out of the way of main street.. 1 block. A bit dated but clean and service was excellent. We had a king suite and housekeeping was excellent. Would stay again

Right from the beginning, it was a wonderful welcome by the front desk man Luis. Prior to unloading our luggage, he provided a tour of our room. We accepted it right away and before we knew it, he and another staff member brought up six pieces of our luggage to the second floor. While we were perusing the grounds, a server in the outdoor restaurant was carrying a deluxe cheeseburger and a Philly cheese steak sandwich with wedge fries. It looked and smelled amazing. We invited four of our friends to join us for dinner. Burger was outstanding as was the steak sandwich along with the chicken burger and the fish tacos. Freshly made. Reasonably priced. To our pleasant surprise it was trivia night and we Canadians rocked it. Winners! The owner of this boutique hotel sent over 6 creamy coconut shots that were cool and refreshing. The pool is crystal clean and has a shooting soothing fountain in the center. Our room was spacious with a king bed, table for 4, oversized mini refrigerator and expansive balcony overlooking the pool and some of Coco Beach which is literally steps away. Breakfast is included and it was perfect. Crispy bacon, fluffy pancakes, any style eggs, fresh fruit and endless coffee. We enjoyed the ambience under the quiet ceiling fans providing a gentle tropical morning breeze. Fantastic staff. Excellent value. Hidden Gem. 🏆

The staff were amazing. We opted to upgrade to a larger room and were happy about that. The pool and entertainment were a huge plus to our vacation.

We booked a basic small room, which was very small and very basic. After checking in we discovered that the toilet wasn’t working. The gentleman at the front desk said he’d let maintenance know and the issue would be resolved by the time we returned that evening. On our return he said that maintenance was unable to come in, so he had us move to the room next door…which happened to be an executive room! What a difference, and what an excellent example of customer service done right! Location was great, though a bit noisy. Near lots of dining options. Breakfast was good.

No electricity from 230pm to 11pm (which was understandable as it was windy) but there was no form of apology or care. Stated that there was no hot water because of having no electricity, but it was still cold the next day. There were electrical wires shorting out (sparks flying) and there was no care to protect the hotel guests. Some lovely locals made sure anyone in and out of the hotel, as well as those parking, were safe. They informed the hotel, but the conceirge just waved the concern away. Customer service is appalling at this hotel. The only saving grace is the convenience of having the beach and restaurants extremely close.

Front desk staff were amazing, especially Luis. Very helpful and considerate as was the cleaning staff.

The property is well kept for the area that it is in. I traveled there alone and felt safe the entire time. The walls are very thin so you can hear everything your neighbors do and talk about. It is a 2 minute walk to the beach which is great with tons of restaurants and bars near by. I would stay again if I was in the area.

Everything was great inside The Palms hotel. It’s when you go outside and walk to the beach to the left side of the hotel and you find a lot of graffiti and trash around the area. There’s a soccer field right in front and people going to the beach park there so that’s probably why. Also there’s some homeless people that hang out there by the skate park making it feel a little sketchy. Wouldn’t recommend going through this street at night due to it being very dark with lack of lighting.

Older property, but well maintained and clean. Very nice pool area with bar and restaurant. Very quick walk to beach, shops and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Great value. We would definitely stay again if returning to Playas del Coco.

The Palms is not a fancy resort, but it was perfect for us. The shops/bars/restaurants are one block up and perfectly walkable. The beach is across a small road, about a 5 min walk. The store at The Palms had everything we needed as far as water, toiletries, snacks. The restaurant had very good food and activities in the evening, including live music, bingo and trivia. The breakfast choices are included and good food. The best part was the friendly staff. Always smiling, always helpful. We will definitely go back to The Palms.

The Palms is a lovely hotel with a wonderful location a block from the beach. The staff is very accommodating, but this property may not suit all American tourists. The rooms are very small in general and the hot water doesn’t really work. If your room is on the second floor, you will have to walk up a flight of stairs.

The person that took the pictures for the website should get an Emmy. The pool was great. The room was clean. The staff was good. Now for the bad. Dirty section of the beach. Hard to locate registration desk. Noise all night. Expensive for the rooms. Parking on the street. Panhandled as we came and went. Hounded in the beach to buy stuff

Coco Beach is more a beach of the local Costa Ricans and the Palms is just a 2 min walk to the beach and main street for restaurants, bars and shopping. Great bar and pool to cool down. Canadian Own I heard soo glad to have stayed there and support my compadres.

While the rooms are basic, my king suite was roomy and had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Breakfast had decent choices and the coffee urn was out early. To a person the staff was lovely and helpful. There’s a bar, restaurant and grocery on premise. It is very convenient to the beach and restaurants. The only downside for me was the activities that took place every evening right outside my room-bingo, open mic, trivia. The beach itself was not particularly attractive to me. If you are going to Coco Beach this is a reasonably priced choice.

Ileana and her team of staff were remarkable. So kind, helpful, and thorough with any requests. The food service team and chef were also very accommodating when I had an early scuba dive meet up earlier than the normal breakfast start time. The late afternoon and evening entertainment was a lovely addition as well. And you can’t beat the location. Close to the beach, shops, restaurants, and great local soccer/football right outside the door.

Nice economy place. Our room was very small, but there are bigger upgraded rooms available. A small room was fine for our short stay. Pool is nice, staff very nice, they have activities at the bar every night, which we enjoyed. Good included breakfast.

The property is quaint and well kept, centrally located within walking distance to everything….including steps from the beach! Everything is well maintained and immaculately clean, with consistent WiFi and excellent AC in guest rooms. The pool area is a sublimely relaxing space and the restaurant menu serves something for everyone’s palate. **BUT** what makes The Palms so genuinely special is its staff. Every staff member is friendly, knowledgeable and goes above and beyond, adding personal touches to the customer service they provide, especially Ileana at reception and Chris in the dining/bar area. Huge thanks to the entire team for a fantastic stay. PURA VIDA!!

El trato del personal es muy ameno y servicial. El lugar estaba limpio y cada día hacen limpieza del cuarto. La piscina es grande y bien cuidada, con un área para niños. Los desayunos son lo mejor del lugar (y están incluidos en el precio). Los precios del restaurante son bastante altos (más elevados que los precios de los restaurantes populares del Coco). La cercanía a la playa es un plus. Lo único que no nos gustó fueron las almohadas , son sumamente duras y pequeñas (parecen un bulto). Y que el parqueo es reducido.
