The Duke of York is a proper British local pub in a building that's a good few hundred years old. The staff and the locals are friendly and welcoming and the food is great. Dont get upset that there's no lift to the upper level or at the absence of Aircon. Just go with the flow

This very old pub has retained its uniqueness in all areas with decor, furniture to suit, so if you want modern this is not for you. However beautiful location around thatched village centre, welcome fantastic , superb pub food and excellent breakfast what more could you want

This pub is old and quaint, a proper country pub. All the staff were friendly, they couldn't do enough to make the stay great. The food is exceptional, proper home cooked food. This place is worth driving through little country lanes to get to it. And more rewarding than staying in a chain hotel.

This is what I call a 'Proper Pub': great food, great atmosphere, not trying to be anything more than the true old style hostelry that is sadly disappearing from many of our towns and villages. I spent just the one night here; wish I could have stayed longer. Very comfy en suite room in this lovely old (listed?) 15th C stone and cob building that has not a straight line in any of its walls. Simple facilities, no fancy frills like complimentary toiletries or hair dryer, so ensure you bring your own if you stay. Wonderful old bedstead and brown antique furniture. I slept like a log. The generous halloumi fajitas meal I had was terrific and great value at £14. Afterwards I enjoyed a good beer or two sat at the bar chatting with locals. As a single female guest I felt very welcome and completely at home. I might have to move to Iddesleigh...

Lovely welcome at classic village pub! Good food both in the evening and the full English breakfast. Bedrooms very clean and comfortable. Convenient for RHS Rosemoor if you don’t mind classic Devon lanes. We will be returning.

We loved the Duke Of York . So far it is the best place that we have stayed in on this trip. The food has been fantastic , wonderful made to order breakfast , the best Sunday beef roast dinner that we have ever had! The place is so unique with its history and ambience. The location is remote but worth getting to. No traffic noise , just a beautiful peaceful view from our room . The staff is wonderful and all of the other patrons very friendly. We picked this location because it was near where we were doing family research. We are so glad we did.

Quite an olde worlde type hotel. Very narrow country roads to get there, basic but quite comfortable, spaceous room, quite at night, plenty accessories. Fantastic food though, evening meals and breakfast, and staff extremely pleasant and helpfull.

This was a beautiful property. The surrounding area was picturebook. We had a very good meal and a good, comfortable sleep. My only issue is the roads were very difficult getting there, so I could not recommend to a tourist with no experience with the narrow roads and remote location.

Superb 15th century Inn, in the depths of the Devon countryside, so much character. The bar was busy all evening, with a couple of decent ales and the restaurant was excellent. My only small issue was that the shower was a bit 'spray the room'. The lady on duty that evening was really helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

A character historic pub in a nice rural location, although roads are very Devon and narrow in places! Very welcoming and friendly staff. Good food and service with a selection of beers with real ale under gravity from the cask. Very popular with diners on a Saturday night. Room reflected the nature of the property but was clean and comfy. Good selection and quality for breakfast. Went with trad English but kippers and salmon on offer.

A character historic pub in a nice rural location, although roads are very Devon and narrow in places! Very welcoming and friendly staff. Good food and service with a selection of beers with real ale under gravity from the cask. Very popular with diners on a Saturday night. Unfortunately they forgot to put cups/mugs but there was coffee just nothing to drink it in. Alas there was a hairdryer diffuser in the drawer but not the rest of the hairdryer and the towels looked like they had been used as dust sheets whilst decorating. Brilliant staff, very good breakfast but no parking.

Lovely rural location. Breakfast could have been improved by having cool orange juice instead of warm. A window to open for fresh air and help get rid of the flies, napkins provided and ensure that the menu options actually available. Otherwise everything else was good
