First of all the location and the views of this was awesome! Out of the hotel and you’re in the national park. The views from your balcony of the ocean sunset or just a spectacular as any sunset restaurant you would go to. The service was great the animals on the property like monkeys on our balcony survived and others were able to see even before going to the park. The pool was refreshing and the breakfast was adequate choices. The only downside is that since these are containers, they noise travels and the walls are paper thin! There is a steep hill to climb, but they also have golf courts to take you up. They are quick to respond to you on WhatsApp. It’s a good solud three + star hotel

Overall nice hotel to stay. Just 1 min away from the entrance of the National Park. Safe, walkable to restaurants. Its built on top of a hill so there is a steep walkway to get to the hotel rooms but they have golf carts that can transport you up and down. The pool is nice. All rooms have direct view of the ocean. and since its on a hill, the view is very beautiful and amazing sunsets can be seen directly from your room. As the name suggests, its built using the containers and so the rooms are elongated rectangles, not sufficient room to move inside the rooms, but thats not a problem. The service is good. Staff is great. For the breakfast they start at 7 only. Even if you go early and the staff is available in the restaurant they will not take your order, they will ask you to sit down and then at 7 they will distribute the food menu, then bring coffee and then take your orders. If you are in a hurry then pre-order the breakfast the day/night before. With that you can get the breakfast earlier and you can go for your tour etc. The parking is a bit challenging. You can see monkeys and the birds right from your hotel room as its surrounded by thick vegetation. So thats a plus! Look around the trees early morning and you will spot monkeys. Nice hotel to stay!

We loved our stay here!! We had a wonderful view of the ocean from our room as well as the pool! The bar staff was phenomenal and very friendly. Having a pool was fantastic after walking around the hot city and park. The location is perfect, right next to the entrance of the park. It’s very easy to get a ride if you’re looking to go elsewhere for dinner or shopping. The room was just what we needed for our stay , with a little kitchen and counter space in the bathroom. We would absolutely stay here again!

En general el hotel es bueno, sin embargo hay poco transporte, los ascensores necesitan mantenimiento y talvez se necesita algo más de personal, pero la ubicación es buena y la comida del restaurante estaba muy bien

The location of the hotel is great - right next to the national park and close to Playa Espadilla. Staff was super friendly. As the hotel is on a steep hill, the hotel offered a transport service up and down. Breakfast was good. The hotel also organised a tour guide for us to guide as through the national park as well as a Catamaran tour. And also monkeys came visit at the pool, which was really cute. All in all a great experience.

La atención en recepción ha sido muy buena, y el personal también. El hotel siento que está un poco descuidado y se torna un poco viejo cómo con falta de mantenimiento. Lo que no me gustó para nada fue la limpieza. La ducha estaba sucia, y algunos lugares comunes también. Para subir es un poco incómodo porque la cuesta está muy inclinada, y llega ser peligrosa para ir en el carrito de golf. No dejar las ventanas abiertas ni nada en los balcones porque los monos a las 6 de la mañana intentan a ir la puerta para coger cosas, si están abiertas suerte con vuestras cosas. Buena localización para visitar el parque Manuel Antonio, está muy cerquita. La playa del parque en espectacular, ir preparados para bañarse.

The location of this hotel is perfect—right by the entrance of Manuel Antonio National Park with some of the best ocean views you can find. The reception staff was friendly and welcoming, which made check-in pleasant. Unfortunately, other aspects of the stay did not meet expectations. The restaurant staff was not friendly, which made dining uncomfortable. Housekeeping was also very poor: the sheets were never changed once during the entire stay, and the the toilet was never cleaned. Shampoo never filled. The last night of our stay the air conditioner stopped working. We did not bother to tell them. Overall, this hotel has a lot of potential because of its prime location and stunning views, but the service and cleanliness need serious improvement.

The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and was accurately depicted in the online photos. Resturant had good food and the wait staff was awesome. Location very well situated to many different ideal destinations and the wildlife we saw just from our room and the restaurant was amazing. We would definitely return to the property if visiting the area again. I would say the only negative was a person name Justin that sat outside the gate and was constantly trying to pressure you to visit the coffee shop and souvenir store just outside the property. He apparently works for the hotel but was not a good reflection of the hotel. He was constantly trying to get you to buy things, was a little inappropriate with some things he was saying. He gave that used car salesman/hustler type impression that was over the top, frustrating and disappointing all at once.

Hotel restaurant was right above my room. The rooms are made from shipping containers which sounds cool at first until you have noisy neighbors & lots of foot traffic above your room. Sound is definitely an issue, at least in my room. The view from my room was incredible which sort of made up for the noise somewhat and the staff is very friendly & helpful. Rooms are clean and each room has a patio overlooking the ocean & Manuel Antionio Ntl Park.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Great value for money and right next to Manuel Antonio park entrance. Close to the beach also. Room was clean and tidy. Facilities could use a few touch ups and the bed was a bit on the 'too firm' side for me but overall would recommend.

Recibimos la habitación, y al estar en la ducha nos encontramos con basura en la regadera; en la noche a las 3am el aire acondicionado dejor de funcionar (escogimos este hotel por tener A/C y por la ubicación) y el calor nos hizó imposible el poder dormir ya que la habitación estaba con una temperatura sumamente alta, nod quejamos en recepción pero solo había un empleado en todo el hotel y era un guardia de seguridad; hasta las 7am que llego un empleado de recepción nos movieron de habitación. Los puntos buenos son la ubicación, las albercas y el restaurante. Pero los cuartos son incomodos.

El hotel está bien situado si quieres ir al Parque Nacional de Manuel Antonio. Además puedes dejar el coche en su parking sin problema. La habitación era pequeña y mal mantenida, tratándose de una cuádruple superior. El baño estaba corroído y olía a cloaca. El aire acondicionado sonaba como si fuese a despedazarse. El personal muy amable. El desayuno algo lento, pero entretenido con los monitos que venían a "robar" las tostadas de los comensales.
El hotel está bien situado si quieres ir al Parque Nacional de Manuel Antonio. Además puedes dejar el coche en su parking sin problema. Ya es mi segunda vez visitando el hotel, y como experiencia definitivamente a bajado su categoría como tanto al nivel de atención al cliente al igual que sus instalaciones. El funcionamiento de las instalaciones por ejemplo a los elevadores, no servían lo cual es lo más esencial para poder moverse dentro y fuera del hotel, el restaurante no se encuentra abierto! La piscina le falta mucho aseó! El desayuno lo cual describen que está dentro de la tarifa no lo ofrecen y dentro de los días de mi estadía tuve que ir a los alrededores a buscar desayuno. Al lugar que pude desayunar los locales me comentaron que en este hotel siempre era común con todos los turistas que lo visitan que les hicieran lo mismo y que les ofrezcan baja atención en ese sentido y los enviaban afuera del hotel ya que como comenté inicialmente el restaurante se encuentra cerrado al parecer ya hace varios meses atrás ! La atención y calidad de este lugar definitivamente cada vez en más baja, más con el personal principalmente de recepción! 0 recomendada para visitar Manuel Antonio nuevamente

Al lugar que pude desayunar los locales me comentaron que en este hotel siempre era común con todos los turistas que lo visitan que les hicieran lo mismo y que les ofrezcan baja atención en ese sentido y los enviaban afuera del hotel ya que como comenté inicialmente el restaurante se encuentra cerrado al parecer ya hace varios meses atrás ! La atención y calidad de este lugar definitivamente cada vez en más baja, más con el personal principalmente de recepción! 0 recomendada para visitar Manuel Antonio nuevamente

This was different. Hotel made with old containers but it works. Sound proofing between walls was thin. But 2 nights was fine. Stay on the top floor. Best view. steep hill to climb. Not for someone with any knee or hip issues.

First of all the location and the views of this was awesome! Out of the hotel and you’re in the national park. The views from your balcony of the ocean sunset or just a spectacular as any sunset restaurant you would go to. The service was great the animals on the property like monkeys on our balcony survived and others were able to see even before going to the park. The pool was refreshing and the breakfast was adequate choices. The only downside is that since these are containers, they noise travels and the walls are paper thin! There is a steep hill to climb, but they also have golf courts to take you up. They are quick to respond to you on WhatsApp. It’s a good solud three + star hotel

Overall nice hotel to stay. Just 1 min away from the entrance of the National Park. Safe, walkable to restaurants. Its built on top of a hill so there is a steep walkway to get to the hotel rooms but they have golf carts that can transport you up and down. The pool is nice. All rooms have direct view of the ocean. and since its on a hill, the view is very beautiful and amazing sunsets can be seen directly from your room. As the name suggests, its built using the containers and so the rooms are elongated rectangles, not sufficient room to move inside the rooms, but thats not a problem. The service is good. Staff is great. For the breakfast they start at 7 only. Even if you go early and the staff is available in the restaurant they will not take your order, they will ask you to sit down and then at 7 they will distribute the food menu, then bring coffee and then take your orders. If you are in a hurry then pre-order the breakfast the day/night before. With that you can get the breakfast earlier and you can go for your tour etc. The parking is a bit challenging. You can see monkeys and the birds right from your hotel room as its surrounded by thick vegetation. So thats a plus! Look around the trees early morning and you will spot monkeys. Nice hotel to stay!

Well, it’s different staying in a shipping container but they made it very comfortable. The staff was amazing, especially the gentleman at breakfast! The cleaning staff were polite (great job ladies!). Even the unforeseeable guest at breakfast (monkeys) were handled firmly, but with Care making everyone. The only 2 thing that gave it less of an appeal was water pressure, either very lower not having any water at all. I’m not sure if that’s the hotels problem or a city problem. The second is the hill if you’re unable to walk up and down the hill, this is definitely not a hotel for you. Yes they have golf carts, but they’re not there on a regular basis. If you get lucky, you may get a ride up the hill. Most of the time you walk it and ladies and gentlemen it’s a hill straight up.

I just stayed here for 4 nights. Overall the hotel is nice. The rooms are good but the bed was uncomfortable. It felt like i was sleeping on a cot. The property is located on a very cery steep hill so it was very difficult walking up the hotel itself. They do have someone bringing you up in a golf cart though. The views from the balcony are magnificent. The food at the restaurant on site was ok.

Hotel restaurant was right above my room. The rooms are made from shipping containers which sounds cool at first until you have noisy neighbors & lots of foot traffic above your room. Sound is definitely an issue, at least in my room. The view from my room was incredible which sort of made up for the noise somewhat and the staff is very friendly & helpful. Rooms are clean and each room has a patio overlooking the ocean & Manuel Antionio Ntl Park.

Staff was friendly and professional. Hotel was located at steep hill, so hard to get there specially in a hot, humid weather. They take you up there with a golf cart, when they are available. Rooms were noisy, so small, claustrophobic. Location was good, strategic to go to the Manuel Antonio National Park (6 minutes walk).

We stayed in a room below the restaurant and woke up each morning latest at 6.30 because they were moving the furniture. In the evening there was noise until 21-22.00. Food was tasty and the restaurant staff is nice. We booked an ATV tour from reception but they did not confirm it with the tour company. They did not come to pick us up and we wasted 1 day. We asked for refund of 1 day but did not receive it. Better to book tours online. Guests are feeding wild monkeys with pancakes and cookies and the staff allows it. The tiles at the bottom of the pool are coming off. Good location close to park and nice sea view.

Great stay. Steven at the front desk was a great host. He helped us with facilities even after we checked out of the hotel, after we came back from enjoying the Manuel Antonio National Park.

I loved everything about this place!! Manuel Antonio is a magically place and the El Faro highlights that fact!! You want to see some cool stuff?? All you have to do is go to breakfast or sit at the pool… the monkeys will do the rest!! The staff here was great!! From the server’s to the guys that bring you to the beach in the golf cart!! You all made my experience incredible and I thank you for that!! What a great bunch of people!! The hotel is in a very convenient location next to the park and down the street from a gorgeous beach!!! If you’re thinking about staying at this hotel I’ll tell you one thing!! YOU FOUND THE RIGHT PLACE!!!

We arrived and it was raining. Of course it's a jungle. We were supposed to be there for two nights they checked us in and they said it's too dangerous to take our car up to the hotel because it's so steep and I guess something with the bricks. So he put us in a little car and took us halfway. We got on the elevator. Took the elevator up I think to get off at the restaurant. Walk through the restaurant and over a slippery little bridge. Then we took another elevator up to our room. So of course I asked him when we need to get down what do I do? He said to contact them with WhatsApp and someone will be there within a minute. Okay so we go to the room so many issues. No bedside tables. No electricity at the bedside. You have to step up about a foot or so to get into the bathroom. Hard for someone handicapped. So I messaged them and said we can't stay here. I messaged so many times to no avail I ended up calling the police. The police came. We got down there with all our luggage. The man at the desk promised that he would contact Expedia and give us a refund. It was done. All good........

When I went to shower, there was no shower/shampoo soap. I contacted the front desk through Whats App, They responded right away and sent someone to bring soap very quickly. We were late for our excursion pick up time and the front desk let us know they were waiting through Whats App. We thought the time was 20 minutes later, so we appreciated the notice so they would wait for us. Great service from the front desk. They even helped us with restaurant suggestions for dinner. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Being so high up, El Faro offers an amazing view of the ocean and the jungle. We enjoy our breakfast with this view at their hotel restaurant everyday. The location is also very convenient. The entrance to Manuel Antonio park is about a block away, and the beach and restaurants are just short walk away. The staffs were professional, friendly, and helpful. We communicated with front desk via WhatsApp and got everything we needed within a few minutes, even at midnight when we had a medical emergency. We also saw some monkeys and a resident iguana on the premise which is cool.

The location of the hotel is great - right next to the national park and close to Playa Espadilla. Staff was super friendly. As the hotel is on a steep hill, the hotel offered a transport service up and down. Breakfast was good. The hotel also organised a tour guide for us to guide as through the national park as well as a Catamaran tour. And also monkeys came visit at the pool, which was really cute. All in all a great experience.

We recently stayed at El Faro and had a fantastic experience. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and always quick to answer any questions we had. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well taken care of. One of the highlights was the breathtaking view from our balcony—it was the perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring. Mornings were a treat, too, thanks to the delicious breakfasts served each day. The location truly can’t be beat. It’s just a short walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, and the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park. We had read about the hike up the hill to reach the hotel and were a bit concerned, but it turned out to be easier than expected—and even enjoyable (our group’s ages were 11-58)! We were lucky enough to spot a sloth in the trees along the way. For those who prefer not to walk, golf cart rides were always available. A fun surprise were the capuchin monkeys—nicknamed “La Mafia” for a reason! They’re very entertaining to watch, but definitely keep your distance and your food hidden. All in all, El Faro was a perfect base for our group Rolf two families. We would stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Manuel Antonio.

The El Faro Containers Beach hotel isn’t on the beach (5 min walk) but is built into a steep hill -- so steep, they offer free golf cart rides up and down to access. The pools are nice and they provide beach towels. The hotel is built from old shipping containers, so the rooms are long and narrow. But they are nice and quite comfortable. The elevators are small and slow. Each room has an ocean view from its balcony. On check-in, they warn you to close your room door tight because the monkeys have figured out how to work the doorknob and get in to trash your belongings. I saw a monkey on the roof right outside my hotel window on the day I checked out. Quepos is a short drive away, and there are lots of restaurants, services, and things to do in the Manuel Antonio resort area.

I loved everything about this place!! Manuel Antonio is a magically place and the El Faro highlights that fact!! You want to see some cool stuff?? All you have to do is go to breakfast or sit at the pool… the monkeys will do the rest!! The staff here was great!! From the server’s to the guys that bring you to the beach in the golf cart!! You all made my experience incredible and I thank you for that!! What a great bunch of people!! The hotel is in a very convenient location next to the park and down the street from a gorgeous beach!!! If you’re thinking about staying at this hotel I’ll tell you one thing!! YOU FOUND THE RIGHT PLACE!!!

Perfect location, right next to the national park entrance. Good breakfast, very helpful staff. Convenient to be able to park the car at the hotel for the park visit.

This property is super cool and in perfect location. A 30 second walk to Manuel Antonio National Park and about 1-3 minute walk to the beach. Stunning views from balcony.

The hotel is located directly before the entrance to manuel antinio national park. Very convenient if your visiting the park. Endless dining and shopping options in a 10 minute walking radius. The public beach is less then 10 minutes from the hotel, very convenient to walk to. No car necessary to get to the beach. If you stop along the way to the beach you will more then likely to see an assortment of cool wildlife. The hotel itself was pretty clean, only complaint would be that while sleeping it was raining hard outside and i woke up to water dropping on my head. Not a dealbreaker whatsoever. The location is beautiful, a nice relaxed getaway from the hustle and bustle of big cities. It felt safe and lots to do from nature tours to beach days to excursions found wherever you are walking. I would definetly reccommend this hotel.

Love how close it was from the National Park entrance. Great attention from the staff. Wifi was not working most of time. The first elevator did not look or feel very safe. Regarding the breakfast, it will be more convenient if the guests can have both coffee and juice, rather than one option per breakfast.

The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and was accurately depicted in the online photos. Resturant had good food and the wait staff was awesome. Location very well situated to many different ideal destinations and the wildlife we saw just from our room and the restaurant was amazing. We would definitely return to the property if visiting the area again. I would say the only negative was a person name Justin that sat outside the gate and was constantly trying to pressure you to visit the coffee shop and souvenir store just outside the property. He apparently works for the hotel but was not a good reflection of the hotel. He was constantly trying to get you to buy things, was a little inappropriate with some things he was saying. He gave that used car salesman/hustler type impression that was over the top, frustrating and disappointing all at once.

Loved it here , the dining and front staff were absolutely fantastic..whenever we need a ride up or down they were right there..The rooms were basic but clean and the visits from the monkeys every morning was really nice..We tooka lotsa videos ...Actually say way more wildlife there than in Manuel Antonio park ..Very walkable area with lots of restaurants nearby..We would defintely stay there again ..I would say the restaurant staff would serve us coffee as we were up at 5 am every morning ..before the breakfast service ..These guys were exceptional..

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, it’s close to national Park and the beaches. Breakfast and dinner menu was full of choices and tasted delicious. I loved that I could see a lot of animals around like monkeys, slots, and birds.

Very nice property. I had room with beautiful view of the ocean. The free breakfast was excellent, I had lunch there one day, The prices were good. I would give 10 out of 10, especially when you consider the price for the room with such a beautiful view. The staff is very friendy.

Great value for family of four! We had two rooms for two adults and two teens. Location was great - two minute walk to Manuel Antonio park, convenience store, souvenir shops. Hotel restaurant - the breakfast that was included was fantastic. We ended up eating dinner there one night and it was good too. Staff - quick responses via WhatsApp. Very helpful. Beach - seven minute walk. Beautiful views ocean view from our rooms and from the restaurant. We saw two different types of monkeys from our room and from the restaurant. Rooms - not the nicest, could use some updates, but the they were clean, cool, and the beds were comfortable.

L’hôtel est très bien placé, à 2 pas de la mer et juste à côté de l’entrée du parc Manuel Antonio. Les services sont plutôt bons à part le matin pour le petit déjeuner car il y a beaucoup d’attente. L’état général de la chambre est plutôt moyen pour un 4 étoiles. Les chambres et les salles de bain pourraient être rénovées. Le personnel est très sympathique.

My sister and I traveled for the first time to Costa Rica and chose this hotel for the location(next door to the national park and beach). It's a smallish hotel made from recycled shipping containers. Do not let this dissuade you. It was very cool, well thought out and plenty of room. The pool and the rooms look over the ocean. We saw more wildlife from our balcony than in the national park! Toucans, monkeys(watch out), giant blue butterflies, deer, and macaws. The clue is to slow down and be aware and enjoy where you are. The best part of this hotel is the staff. They are kind, thoughtful, and took such great care of us! JC and the restaurant folks were so kind and fun. It was always nice to come back to the restaurant and have a familiar face. The grounds crew always said hello and bye and would wave. They drove us and our luggage up(up in an understatement) to our building in a golf cart. Life saver! And our housekeeper made sure we were well stocked with coffee. This little act meant more than one would imagine. My sister who has chronic health problems has a difficult time eating and drinking anything. The one thing that makes her feel better for a few minutes is a cup of coffee. Roxanne noticed we were drinking quite a bit of coffee and even if we didn't need our room cleaned she made sure we had coffee pods. Such wonderful acts of kindness that I know I can't include them all. But thank you for making this trip unforgettable. I'll be back
