We had a room in the annex with a private bath. The property was beautiful. Our room was very quiet and comfortable with access to a full kitchen. We loved the idyllic setting with lovely horses and dogs to add to the ambience! The staff were very kind and attentive. Breakfast was delicious. Everything about the experience was positive. Our daughter recommended this property to us and we have now recommended it to another daughter. We hope to be able to visit this lovely place again.

The location has awesome views of the surrounding mountains. Breakfast was excellent every morning. The hosts are full of local knowledge. We were in the annex, and I enjoyed cooking on a professional stove. I cannot recommend highly enough. We will be back.

We had a wonderful time at Elktrace! Everyone was incredibly friendly and truly made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The breakfast was amazing — there was such a great variety to choose from, with something different offered each day. It was a highlight of our stay! We stayed in the basement level and had the entire space to ourselves, which was fantastic. The setup was perfect for a group, with two bathrooms (including a shower), which made everything very convenient. One room featured two queen beds, a large TV, a table, and a sofa bed. The adjoining space had another sofa bed, a couch, a large TV, a microwave, a small refrigerator, and a long kitchen table that comfortably seated six or more people. We also loved being able to park our car in the back. Since it was a walk-out basement, access in and out was easy and seamless throughout our stay. Overall, it was a comfortable, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed space, and we would absolutely stay here again.

Great hot breakfast with breakfast casserole etc. staff helped me with EV charging in town. Common area was very nice with a full kitchen in the annex where I stayed. Able to refreeze my cooler ice which was a bonus. Super nice staff, very clean, nice finishes in room. Out in the woods saw raccoon on the road on the way in would definitely recommend

Stay in the Annex building which offers unbeatable views for your morning coffee- mountains and horses grazing in the field. The horse wagon ride that's offered on site was fun for kids but rather pricey and the dinner that comes with it was horrible.

Elk Trace Bed and Breakfast was an incredible experience. The "big" house was incredible. Like a combination of a cabin / manor house. Beautiful on the outside and inside, nestled on 102 acres of pristine Colorado (San Juan Forrest) wilderness yet still fairly close to civilization in Pagosa Springs. The room was perfectly sized with a king bed. The place is dog friendly. The owner, Evelyn, even volunteered to watch one of our yappy dogs while we went on a carriage ride around the property (Buckarroos Carriage/Sleigh rides - awesome). Also I need to mention it was very affordable. Overall an incredible experience and I've told many people about Elk Trace Lodge since we've been back.

An absolute beautiful location with an amazing view and a staff that makes you feel like family. The space was larger than expected and extremely clean. Don't get me started on the breakfast... it was full of options and taste great. I wish Evelyn coups cook for me every morning. The only unexpected negative was the dirt road ...take it slow and watch for pot holes. The sweet puppies were an added bonus and super sweet.

We travelled with our 2 pet Bulldogs. The property was amazing with top of the line furnishings and beautiful and spacious grounds with about 8 horses in the field and a lake with mountains in the background in plain view from the deck of our unit. The breakfast was terrific with lots to choose from. Couldn't have asked for a nicer owner and staff. We stayed in the "Annex" which consisted of two smaller ground floor rooms and a larger one upstairs. The huge and very comfortable living room was shared by all. Kitchen completely furnished. Good wifi, Dish TV and Streaming channels. Also tv in bedroom. We stayed in the "Mustang" room. While there we saw several forms of wildlife.

Very nice location! But we had nasty big spiders in cabin that were upsetting! One on the bed! Toilet wasn't cleaned and had an orange moldy look in bowl. Breakfast was good! If i came back i would need to stay in lodge as the spiders made us upset

I had originally booked a large room with living area as there were 5 of us traveling. The room had 2 queens and 2 twin beds. Some time after booking, the owner asked me if I would switch rooms and sold me on 2 rooms. When we arrived, one of the rooms was not cleaned yet. They asked us to wait as they "cleaned" it. The cleaning took 10 minutes. When we were shown the rooms, I was very disappointed. One king bed, one queen, and a futon. Definitely not the same space as I had originally booked. But, that is my fault for agreeing to the change. The rooms were full of pet hair. On the bed spreads, all over the futon, on the floor. We had a dog with us, which was part of the reason we stayed there, but I expect them to clean up betweeb guests. We would have left immediately, but it was the 4th of July holiday and we had just driven a long way. Our options were very limited. We had booked for 2 nights. We stayed the first night only to use the time to find another place to stay. There is no air conditioning, only fans. Which wouldn't be a huge deal in Colorado, but they also don't have guttering around the building. So, with the window open, all we could hear all night was drip, drip, drip off of the roof onto the awning over the deck. My daughter dropped an item on the floor and when she picked it up, her had was full of dog hair. Thr doors to the rooms have no way to lock them when you leave, leaving your belongings unsecured. We ran out the next morning.

A friend and I just wanted a getaway and we discovered this gem of a place. The ladies are extremely friendly and welcoming. The place is very clean and nestled away from the main city of Pagosa. But it’s just a short drive into town. Breakfast was amazing.

Reserved the Cabin, once there was not ready as the people prior to us had been there with dogs and pigs. Had been in contact the say before and day of arrival and nothing was said about the cabin not being available. We were moved to the annex and allowed a ROOM. The Wifi nor the TV worked the entire stay. The dishwasher was not working so no cooking, as I was not hand washing dishes while on vacation. The whole place needed a deep cleaning. Alot of dust as it is on a dirt road. The bed was comfotable,and the scenery was beautiful. The breakfast considered of scrambled eggs and store bought tortillas every morning,from the reviews expected more. Carolynand Andy were very nice. Evelyn, I felt was not very considerate to the fact of 1, not getting the cabin I had reserved for my husband and I. 2, no Wifi, 3, no television our entire stay. When I informed Evelyn that we had alrwady been billed in full by the time we got there, she said good! I think over $600 for a three night stay was way too much fir what ee

Evelyn was wonderful. She is very nice and very welcoming. Her place was spotless and very relaxing. The breakfast was delicious and so many options. The place we're very homey. Also, very dog friendly. Our 5 year old Golden retriever was walking inside freely with no leash. So wonderful. I would recommend it to my family and friends for sure. Can't wait to go back!

This was a spectacular property! Miles off the main road on a dirt road. We ended up with an entire house to ourselves . Gorgeous , comfortable and the views stunning! Carolyn our host was amazing and very observant to the needs of her guests. We went to the main house for a home cooked delicious breakfast each morning . Carolyn kept in contact with anything we might need. She also found my husband's wedding ring inadvertently left at the bedside after we left and contacted us right away. Carolyn was so good and we made arrangements to have it FedEx back to our home in NYS timed for the day after we got home. Thank you, Carolyn you're amazing!

First time staying at a B&B and it was not a disappointment! The lodge was gorgeous! The surrounding area was peaceful, green and good for the soul. We had the downstairs totally to ourselves. The only down side was our bathroom was down the hall and not attached to our room. The breakfast was amazing! No continental breakfast here! You get the whole smorgasbord! Lol staff was amazing and Andy was the highlight of conversation! We were remote but only 7 miles from town. Was perfect! I would definitely recommend a stay! We plan on coming back!

We had a wonderful time at Elktrace! Everyone was incredibly friendly and truly made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The breakfast was amazing — there was such a great variety to choose from, with something different offered each day. It was a highlight of our stay! We stayed in the basement level and had the entire space to ourselves, which was fantastic. The setup was perfect for a group, with two bathrooms (including a shower), which made everything very convenient. One room featured two queen beds, a large TV, a table, and a sofa bed. The adjoining space had another sofa bed, a couch, a large TV, a microwave, a small refrigerator, and a long kitchen table that comfortably seated six or more people. We also loved being able to park our car in the back. Since it was a walk-out basement, access in and out was easy and seamless throughout our stay. Overall, it was a comfortable, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed space, and we would absolutely stay here again.

We had many facility problems during our stay. We also had a loft and there's little privacy. The weather was warm and the fan wasn't working. The Main TV in the living area wasn't working. The hot water wasn't enough for 2 showers in succession.

Wow, my husband and I came here for a weekend getaway and absolutely loved it!! The B&B is so beautiful and the view is absolutely stunning. It was a peaceful! The staff were amazing and we met some great people! We stayed in the Annex Delux. We will definitely come again! I will clear up what questions I had before as it’s kind of hard to tell in the picture. The loft does not have a door and leads to downstairs where there are more rooms where other guest say and beautiful living room and kitchen area. It’s still very private, it just does not have a door to the upstairs. We were lucky and got some amazing people who were in the annex with us. Breakfast was amazing and the Evenly was so helpful! 10/10 would come again!

Comfortable beds, with memory foam topper. Staff were very attentive. Very active at the ranch at times. Participated in a 4th of July BBQ with friends of the host.

Elk Trace is an absolutely lovely place! The common areas are very comfortable, the breakfast is huge and delicious, the environment is magnificent and Evelyn and her crew are personable and welcoming. We only stayed one night but so wish we had had time to stay longer!

Evelyn, the owner of the property has given us a five star treatment, together with her family. We received a warm welcome and have enjoyed their delicious breakfast. Was greeted by wildlife in the morning while enjoying a cup of coffee. Highly recommended to couples and families! Will definitely come back with our kids next time

We had a delightful stay at Elktrace Lodge for two nights. Our cozy cottage was perfect for my husband and me plus our two dogs, plus the location was great for skiing at Wolf Creek. Tom and Evelyn, the hosts, went above and beyond to make our stay special. They are warm and inviting, and their attention to detail made us feel right at home. One of the highlights of our visit was the delicious Christmas meal they hosted for all the guests. Sharing a festive evening with them and the other guests was a heartwarming experience that added a unique and memorable touch to our holiday. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Very nice property. Hosts are welcoming, and rooms are amazing - each one is unique. Didn't have time to explore the property. Breakfast had many homemade items. A bit out of the way, which can be both good and bad, but not too difficult to find. Gave a great dinner recommendation for the Coyote Cafe, and quickly texted us that we left a charger cord behind.

The staff was horrendously rude to me and very discriminatory toward a disabled person. The road to their property was closed and when I called to ask for directions, the person who answered told me she had no "patience for the relay call" yelled at the operator and then hung up on me. I have a hearing disability so needed to call through the relay service. I tried for 2 hours calling again and again. And no one would answer the phone. I was only 10 minutes away from the hotel yet I could not find my way there. I had driven a very long way, more than 3 hours and due to the long weekend there were no other hotels available. I was forced to turn around and drive all the way back home.

Reserved the Cabin, once there was not ready as the people prior to us had been there with dogs and pigs. Had been in contact the say before and day of arrival and nothing was said about the cabin not being available. We were moved to the annex and allowed a ROOM. The Wifi nor the TV worked the entire stay. The dishwasher was not working so no cooking, as I was not hand washing dishes while on vacation. The whole place needed a deep cleaning. Alot of dust as it is on a dirt road. The bed was comfotable,and the scenery was beautiful. The breakfast considered of scrambled eggs and store bought tortillas every morning,from the reviews expected more. Carolynand Andy were very nice. Evelyn, I felt was not very considerate to the fact of 1, not getting the cabin I had reserved for my husband and I. 2, no Wifi, 3, no television our entire stay. When I informed Evelyn that we had alrwady been billed in full by the time we got there, she said good! I think over $600 for a three night stay was way too much fir what ee

The location has awesome views of the surrounding mountains. Breakfast was excellent every morning. The hosts are full of local knowledge. We were in the annex, and I enjoyed cooking on a professional stove. I cannot recommend highly enough. We will be back.

Such a beautiful bed and breakfast on the outskirts of Pagosa Springs; just the right amount of distance out of town for peace and quiet, but close enough for groceries and other amenities. Carolyn and Evelyn were both so kind and inviting, and breakfast every morning was phenomenal. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area, we hope to be back soon!

Property was about 2 miles down a dirt road, but directions and signage were good and the road was in decent shape. We stayed in the Annex and were the only guests there for our two days. Breakfast was good. Owners were friendly. WiFi at the Annex was intermittent, but owners were going to work on that.

I really enjoyed my stay at Elktrace B&B. My hosts were great, and the scenery was amazing. I used Elktrace as a base for some day trips, The location worked out very well. Whether your goal is to actively enjoy the outdoor activities in the area, or to just relax and decompress this facility is ideal. The next time I’m in the area I will definitely consider Elktrace.

For some reason when I booked this place, I was not able to tell how far out of town it was. It was just a little bit of a surprise, and I was also surprised that the loft meant we were sharing with another couple who was downstairs so as long as that is all made clear, you know what you’re getting. And it was an absolutely wonderful stay. There is a restaurant fairly close by that is off the charts and the family feel of the place is wonderful. If you want to do your own cooking, there is a fantastic kitchen and everything was really spacious and the people are just perfect. If I’m ever in the area again, I would definitely return

Great hot breakfast with breakfast casserole etc. staff helped me with EV charging in town. Common area was very nice with a full kitchen in the annex where I stayed. Able to refreeze my cooler ice which was a bonus. Super nice staff, very clean, nice finishes in room. Out in the woods saw raccoon on the road on the way in would definitely recommend

My wife and I had a great time visiting Elktrace. The Annex property was perfect for our stay. It had a great porch to sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains. We rode our bikes around the property and interacted with the horses. Carolyn and Evelyn were very nice and accomadating. The breakfast and table side conversations were the perfect way to get our day started. We will definitely be coming back to visit.

Evelyn was wonderful. She is very nice and very welcoming. Her place was spotless and very relaxing. The breakfast was delicious and so many options. The place we're very homey. Also, very dog friendly. Our 5 year old Golden retriever was walking inside freely with no leash. So wonderful. I would recommend it to my family and friends for sure. Can't wait to go back!

No AC!!! No Wi-Fi or in operation this was the Annex house with loft, be aware of loose dogs on property. Very dusty in entire house. Road to property from main pavement is a dirt road, some very rough spots and approximately one mile. Over all setting is beautiful meadow, lake and mountains

This log home is stunning and the property is lovely! The road in made me glad I had a truck but it was totally worth it once I arrived. I would have stayed longer if I had the time. A unique view and beautiful property!
This log home is stunning and the property is lovely! The road in made me glad I had a truck but it was totally worth it once I arrived. I would have stayed longer if I had the time. A unique view and beautiful property!
