Wonderful place to stay. Very comfortable. Very clean. Super convenient location - 2 blocks from the beach. Loved the little extras like coffee/tea snacks avail all day and beach chairs, beach towels and umbrellas all complimentary. Was not expecting that. My daughter and I both loved it. Thank you!

Nice room, delightful back yard with portable fire pit for burning wood, beautiful plants including a lemon tree, covered table and seating…a perfect place to have your morning coffee, which is provided. Best of all, it’s less than a 10 minute walk to the beach and a walkable distance from Carlsbad village shops, restaurants, and bars. Very convenient location!

In Expedia, it was advertised as a Bed & Breakfast. There is no breakfast and the price of staying there (vs. the poor conditions) is way too high. Avoid going on the roof to the lounging area- rusted out chairs at the small table are unsafe and rusted out main table is unsanitary. Peeling paint in the bathroom was gross. The best experience is the proximity to the beach. It must have been an amazing place at one time, now, it has been left without necessary repairs & updates which an older place needs to be welcoming.

We absolutely loved this quaint bed and breakfast type stay. The room was adorable. The location is so close to the beach. The rooftop patio was delightful. We also enjoyed the provided beach chairs. We are already looking at another stay in a couple of months. Thank you!

The property was cute, an old seaside hotel with some updating. There were parking spots available but not obvious if all the front ones were taken. We only need the room for one night. The room was okay for the price and location.

Pros: I liked the contactless check-in. All went smoothly. Easy and available free parking. Water and snacks provided in the lobby. Loved the quiet residential location of the hotel, convenient to Carlsbad Village. The inn is quaint and picturesque. The corner room was bright and cozy with a comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Great shower pressure. Con: While the room was clean and comfortable, there were many stains on the carpet. The carpet needed to be thoroughly cleaned or replaced. There was a dent in the wall that needs to be repaired. This lapse in maintenance/upkeep doesn’t reflect well on a hotel that has much going for it.

We loved the location, neighborhood, charm of old school facility. The room needed rug cleaning and some things did not work (lights and fan). The fact that there is no person on site except a cleaning person is problematic. I mistakenly left some items in the armoire when we left and there is NO WAY to speak to anyone to arrange retreiving them - phone number does not answer - I submitted a note on the website “contact us” page, but no response. Very frustrating.

Much older building. Check in and out was done by security code to door only. I didn't feel securely private since door and windows only had roll down shade which can allow someone to peer inside bedroom or bathroom. I had to use towels to secure shade against window and hung blanket sheet over the entry door. Plus gnats were in the room and found ants on my bed. Walls were so thin that next room had their TV on well past 1am and kept me awake

Great property in a wonderful location. No air conditioning, which normally wouldn't be a problem but it was pretty hot that night. Also, it was a shared refrigerator in a common area rather than a mini fridge in the room which is kind of awkward. Nice place, though, with a comfy bed and easy access!

Pacific Room: Large room, big bathroom with extra amenities like a fireplace, whirlpool, ceiling fan & plenty of ocean decor. The value is very good & worth every penny. There are some small imperfections like the shower is smallish & two of the jacuzzi jets are too high up, but everything else has better than expected. It’s not modern for (like) teenager’s taste, but for middle aged adults & up, it feels like home.

My wife and I needed a night out away from the kids. We stayed in the Santa Barbara room and it was luxurious; definitely worth the price. We enjoyed the large jacuzzi tub. I'm 6'2 and 290lb and I was able to fit in the tub for the first time in over a decade. It was bliss. Then we fell asleep early in the cushy bed. It was so comfortable I woke up without my usual aches and pains.

This property is a gem. It is very nice, safe, and quiet at night. We slept wth our windows open and the temperature was perfect. The only caveat is it is not far from the train track (which is true of the sll of the beach towns in this part of CA), so if you leave your windows open, you will hear the trains. This however is also a feature due to it is easily walkable from the coastal express train. Restaurants, 7 eleven, and the beach are all within a 2-5 minute walk. I give it 5 stars.

There was no air conditioning, the only ventilation was a window fan that didn’t work when you closed the blinds to darken the room. We found a fan in the cabinet trying to keep the air circulating but the fan sounded like it was coming apart. The ceiling fan only had one speed and it was slow.There was only a bottom sheet on the bed with a down comforter on top. This was a ground floor room so you had to close the blinds to have any privacy at all since the parking lot was right outside the window.

We booked this last minute as a one-night stay over on a trip south. It exceeded our expectations x10! Contactless check-in was a breeze. Our room was massive and the bed was extremely comfortable. Overall a cute, romantic place that I would highly recommend.

Stayed in the Laguna room. Very nice and cozy. Fire place was romantic. Bed was a little creaky. But their is a nice chase lounge in corner. More stable and quiet.

Upon arrival, we talked to the gentleman who was cleaning the rooms and ours was ready to go so he gave us a key and let us move in even though it was 11 o’clock in the morning. They have a stack of beach chairs and beach towels for use so We made our way down to the beautiful beach and enjoyed our afternoon.

Tori, the manager was very helpful. The property is small but our room - Pacific - was huge. Fireplace and jacuzzi tub very much appreciated. Close to beach and downtown. Can walk everywhere. Highly recommend.

We really wanted to like this inn. We like to support small business/non chain hotels but we were very disappointed with our stay. When we turned the ceiling fan on in our room it sparked. I texted Tori the property manager and she immediately responded and upgraded us to a larger room. When I went to use the shower after a long day of traveling we had no hot water. She rectified the situation but it took hours for the water to heat up. I took a cold shower and my husband took a hot shower in the room we were originally in. FYI no housekeeping services. You have to get your own fresh towels from a common room downstairs. The refrigerator and microwave are also in a common area. Coffee is available in the lobby but it was closed in the morning both times we went down. No bar soap either…just small travel size bottles of shower gel. Even at night when it was cool outside our room was hot. We were extremely uncomfortable even with the windows open. It truly is a very expensive NO FRILLS inn. We could have stayed elsewhere with just as good location to Carlsbad village and been much more comfortable. I really feel like we wasted our money.
We really wanted to like this inn. We like to support small business/non chain hotels but we were very disappointed with our stay. When we turned the ceiling fan on in our room it sparked. I texted Tori the property manager and she immediately responded and upgraded us to a larger room. When I went to use the shower after a long day of traveling we had no hot water. She rectified the situation but it took hours for the water to heat up. I took a cold shower and my husband took a hot shower in the room we were originally in. FYI no housekeeping services. You have to get your own fresh towels from a common room downstairs. The refrigerator and microwave are also in a common area. Coffee is available in the lobby but it was closed in the morning both times we went down. No bar soap either…just small travel size bottles of shower gel. Even at night when it was cool outside our room was hot. We were extremely uncomfortable even with the windows open. It truly is a very expensive NO FRILLS inn. We could have stayed elsewhere with just as good location to Carlsbad village and been much more comfortable. I really feel like we wasted our money.

I loved loved the property! What an amazing GEM! I was hesitant at first not knowing the area BUT what a wonderful surprise! The gentleman at the property was so kind and helpful! The room was absolutely PERFECT! Quiet area! The beach was right there! Down the street is the Village Area. I can't speak highly enough about the property! What a wonderful experience.

We loved the location, neighborhood, charm of old school facility. The room needed rug cleaning and some things did not work (lights and fan). The fact that there is no person on site except a cleaning person is problematic. I mistakenly left some items in the armoire when we left and there is NO WAY to speak to anyone to arrange retreiving them - phone number does not answer - I submitted a note on the website “contact us” page, but no response. Very frustrating.

This was a great property for the money and is exceptional value. Comfortable, cosy and only a short walk to central Carlsbad. Slight issue with getting the door code from the booking company but the manager was a great help, would definitely stay again.

Great location. Property is clean . We had the Capistrano room and it was comfortable. Just 2 blocks from the ocean, the boardwalk and Dini’s Seafood Restaurant. Fun watching the surfers. Simple accommodations.

Not a fancy, upscale resort but a unique little Inn decorated with cute antiques and cozy furnishings…which we loved! Great location!…just a short walk to the beach or Carlsbad Village. We would definitely stay here again!

I would definitely stay at this property again we had the Newport room which was right in front and it was amazing. The room was clean, and you could walk to the village in 3 mins. Highly recommended!

Such an amazing location and love that the parking is free. A place with a lot of charm and cool vibes. Comfortable beds and hot showers. Walking distance to good coffee and breakfast, lunch, dinner, beach, etc. Will definitely be back!!

Wonderful place to stay. Very comfortable. Very clean. Super convenient location - 2 blocks from the beach. Loved the little extras like coffee/tea snacks avail all day and beach chairs, beach towels and umbrellas all complimentary. Was not expecting that. My daughter and I both loved it. Thank you!

Pros: I liked the contactless check-in. All went smoothly. Easy and available free parking. Water and snacks provided in the lobby. Loved the quiet residential location of the hotel, convenient to Carlsbad Village. The inn is quaint and picturesque. The corner room was bright and cozy with a comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Great shower pressure. Con: While the room was clean and comfortable, there were many stains on the carpet. The carpet needed to be thoroughly cleaned or replaced. There was a dent in the wall that needs to be repaired. This lapse in maintenance/upkeep doesn’t reflect well on a hotel that has much going for it.

Nice room, delightful back yard with portable fire pit for burning wood, beautiful plants including a lemon tree, covered table and seating…a perfect place to have your morning coffee, which is provided. Best of all, it’s less than a 10 minute walk to the beach and a walkable distance from Carlsbad village shops, restaurants, and bars. Very convenient location!

In Expedia, it was advertised as a Bed & Breakfast. There is no breakfast and the price of staying there (vs. the poor conditions) is way too high. Avoid going on the roof to the lounging area- rusted out chairs at the small table are unsafe and rusted out main table is unsanitary. Peeling paint in the bathroom was gross. The best experience is the proximity to the beach. It must have been an amazing place at one time, now, it has been left without necessary repairs & updates which an older place needs to be welcoming.

One night stay in the Newport room. Nice quiet property in a good location. Room was clean & comfortable. Check-in was easy & not seeing any staff was not a problem. Room was warm and a little musty smelling upon 1st entering at 8p, the provided fans were needed. Queen bed was soft and bouncier than our preference.

I loved the stay here at the Pelican Cove Inn. It was so peaceful and relaxing and a 5 minute walk to the beach and Downtown Carlsbad. If you are looking for a quiet, private stay close to the beach and city fun this is the perfect location for you.

The location was excellent. It was close to walk to many plces.The room was not what we expected. There was not a balcony, it was a walkway. The fireplace did not work properly. There wasn't a place to hang clothes or a mirror that was not in the restroom.
