Nice staff, sweet bar in cellar easy parking at hotrl

I like this hotel a great deal because it's convenient to public transportation or easy to park if you drive into Brooklyn. It's right on the edge of Williamsburg, walking distance to the waterfront, which means you're close to a lot of hip restaurants and shops if you don't mind a bit of a walk. The staff is super friendly, the beds are comfy, the rooms are large by NYC standards, and everything is clean. The only reason I didn't rate the property higher is because I was charged a resort fee, yet while I was there, the bar and restaurant weren't in service due to renovations, and the hotel elevator didn't work. I realize this was probably just bad timing. Otherwise, it's a great hotel and I would definitely recommend it. I'm sure these issues will be fixed in the future, but you might want ot call if those things are important to you. Oh, and if you feel nervous about street parking, there is a convenient lot behind the hotel.

Great staff and property with a cool lounge coffee shop and cafe on the ground floor.

We enjoyed our short stay here. The facility was clean and well kept. There was plenty of street parking. Unfortunately the restaurant/bar was closed due to renovations. It would have been nice to get advanced notice of this. Overall, a nice hotel to stay at.

There was alot of things that didn't work....alot the lights, lamps and outlets. Also the elevators didn't work....Room is super small for the price. Also the hotel area isn't convenient at all....its so far from everything. & the window view was not appealing. Its a very dirty area /location for such a decent hotel to be located. Hotel was decent if they fix all the issues. But its not a great hotel. I will not be staying here again.

CONS: Cockroaches. Broken TVs. No liquor license. Low shower pressure. Poor guest service. Stay somewhere else. We stayed here for 3 nights. On the 2nd night, at approx. 2am as we're settling into bed, we see a cockroach running along the wall (yes, a cockroach!). We hurry to catch and kill it, and then dispose of it. We report it to the front desk staff who act like it's not a big deal. After some prompting, they offer to move us to a new room. Grossed out and exhausted, we agree to move in the middle of the night, and report it to the manager the next morning, who asks us for proof that there was really a cockroach (like we made the whole thing up). We tell the manager we left it in the room trash (which has been cleaned by this point) and she tells us that she has to check on the protocol with the GM, who also tells us that without proof, they're unable to consider compensation (or an actual apology) for our MAJOR inconvenience. We reported issues with the TV that wasn't working twice. They still couldn't get it to work. PROS: Kim, at the front desk, was lovely to interact with. The hotel's aesthetic is nice. OVERALL: I've stayed in several hotels in several countries and this is, by far, the worst. Pest infestations, general maintenance and guest discontent treated with utter indifference are a pretty good indication of the type of experience you can expect. Stay somewhere else and save yourself the headache. There are far better hotels in the area to patronize.

Room was very small - difficult to have 2 large suitcases in the room because there isn't space for them. The staff is great. The floor of the room was not clean. There was hair, debris and partially empty bottles of water (2) under the bed-skirt. I liked the location and, again, the staff was fantastic.

This hotel is really nice. The room was very clean and spacious. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast was limited and the bar closed a bit early, but overall, it was a pleasant stay. I would visit again.

The sheets in the original room were dirty. After going back to the room with a cleaning supervisor they gave me another room. The in hotel bar and restaurant were both closed the entire time.

I entered the room and it was very dirty. The staff had not cleaned it after the previous customer. I asked them to do so, and they only changed the towels. The floor of the room was very dirty. Secondly, while I was trying to leave the hotel, I fell in front of the door as a result of the accumulation of some snow that the crew did not remove or spread salt to treat. Bad experience and I do not recommend it

Lovely spot, comfy and cute. Super friendly and helpful staff. Was easy to get around as it's near a couple subway stops. The toilet wasn't clean but everything was perfect.

The rooms were large and clean for NYC. We stayed on the first floor on the street side of the hotel which put us on the opposite side from the elevated. The street was quieter even though we were on the first floor the street noise was pretty limited. It is not a very busy street.

Was really surprised to see all the positive reviews after our stay here. The walls are paper thin, and it seems like a party hotel. The two rooms next to ours had loud talking and or music (one night until 6am!!!) for the 3 nights we spent there. And yes we could clearly hear the lyrics to the Beyonce songs. Staff wasn’t very helpful (some were nice, others clearly did not care at all). I would unfortunately not book there again.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel! We loved the location, especially being close to the train, and having free breakfast in the downstairs restaurant. There were only two things I didn’t like: (1) the doors from other rooms closing loudly at night, enough to wake me up; and 2) the TV had a casting feature but it did not work. There was no Netflix or other streaming channel so casting was the only way to watch your own shows.

Room was clean and well stocked with amenities. My only complaints is that the walls are very thin so you can hear everything form the hallways and other rooms. Also, the proximity to the above ground train isn’t ideal as it’s pretty noisy.

The hotel is new and modern and in a nice location close to two different subway lines The only negative is the walls are thin and you can hear everything your neighbors are saying/doing Bring ear plugs or a sound machine.

The property was ok, but the rooms tiny even for New York (in my experience). We had the added bonus of being completely wrapped around the elevator shaft, so that was noisy, but ok in the end as we weren't in the room much. The rooms were tight, so they were constantly a mess with our stuff having no space. Sleeping was not so relaxing with a lumpy bed and pillows, and strange little lights on at all times. It was definitely clean however, so no problem there. Overall it was totally fine for two nights but I wouldn't book for longer unless maybe I was travelling alone and had more space. Parking was convenient though!

This was the loudest room I have ever stayed in. The window also didn’t cover all the way so a lot of light came in.

The room is lovely and had all the standard amenities, plus robes and slippers. Parking on site was very convenient, and it’s within walking distance of a lot of great restaurants and things to do. My only small complaint is that there is not much soundproofing and the hallway can sometimes be loud at night with talking and slamming doors. Would still recommend this place and visit again!

We were greeted by Cindy on our arrival. She is exceptional. She was very pleasant and kind. She explained everything to us in regard to dining availability and charges that might be incurred. We did have a drink at the bar and the bartender was very attentive and gave us great service. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much.

Will never book here again. They lost my booking and would not help me find a room. Stay away from this hotel. Not the cleanest and the staff were not friendly at all. Wasted 3 hours of my time.

The rooms are very nice and upscale. The front desk manager is amazing - when the AC wasn’t working in my room, she quickly had me upgraded to a different room at no extra cost. I will definitely stay there again!

We booked a room through Hotels.com after a flight delay. Arrived at the hotel at 10:30 pm and were told initially that they had no available rooms and did not have our booking from Hotels.com. After some discussion, we were told they did have one room available but the rate was $50 more than what Hotels.com quoted and charged us for. Felt like we had no choice at that point as it was 11pm, we paid nearly $100 for an Uber ride, and there weren't any alternative hotels close by. This really felt like a scam and unfortunately there wasn't much we could do about it. Called Hotels.com multiple times and received a message that said their support desk was having technical issues, then was disconnected. Really disappointed with the whole experience and still need to sort out a refund with Hotels.com or Hotel 42. Don't plan on ever staying here again or booking a room through Hotels.com.

Extremely inconsistent and poorly managed hotel. I was repeatedly locked out of my room and given conflicting information about charges and card holds - even when I showed proof directly from my bank and was accused of lying. Staff communication was unprofessional, and some refused to give their names while male being openly being confrontational and obstructive. After filing a formal complaint, I was told there would be an “investigation,” and response within 48 hours, but this has not been the case. There was no follow-up, no accountability, and no apology. The hotel completely ignored the issues and failed to address any part of my experience. One of the most unprofessional and inconsistent hotel stays I’ve had. I strongly recommend avoiding this property.

The front desk day staff tried very hard to accommodate us. We had no heat in our room and it was unable to be fixed at the time. When we returned in the evening we were told by another staff member that there was no room for us and we had another nights stay on our reservation. She eventually found us a room. Disappointed! We will not stay again. We also were told the manager would reach out to us. It’s been a week without any communication.

Bathroom fan didn't work in our room. They moved us immediately and upgraded the room. Very nice hotel, excellent staff.

I called the front desk because I couldn't figure out the coffee maker, the attendant was frustrated, said he'd send an engineer and hung up on me. I called back, he yelled, "I didn't hang up on you" and then hung up again. The restaurant service is very slow. The rooms are nice and well styled. Its close to the subway but you do not hear the trains. There are a tin of great shopping and restaurants within a few bolocks -- walkable.

Had some items stolen from our room. Called the hotel front desk to report, they took a message and no one ever responded.

great location in Brooklyn. next to the subway. ample parking too for your car. VERY friendly and helpful staff. Bed super comfy. I do wish the room had been a little bigger. But for Brooklyn, I think it was great.

42 Hotel was a pleasant surprise in Brooklyn. It’s conveniently located in Williamsburg within 3 mins walking distance to J and M subway trains to Manhattan. 2 stops and your in Manhattan. It’s also within 10 mins walking distance to great restaurants and cafes in Brooklyn. Even though our room was on a high 1st floor facing the main street, windows are sound proof and street is quiet, so good night sleep was not an issue. Friendly staff, comfy beds, modern decor, a spacious bathroom (a rarity in NYC) are worth mentioning! Cafe downstairs offers good lattes and cappuccinos. There is also a restaurant on premises, but we haven’t eaten there. Will definitely stay there again!

Very nice hotel in a mostly residential area, but with nice cafes and restaurants not too far off. I’m accustomed to staying in Manhattan, so by comparison parking was a breeze. The hotel was very quiet, staff friendly and helpful, and it’s near the subway so convenient to everything.

While the hotel was clean and nice inside, the location was very poor. It was not near any convenient spots to eat. We ended up either walking 1-2 miles to place to enjoy for dinner or taking an Uber.

I recently stayed at 42 Hotel Brooklyn and wanted to share my experience. The hotel itself is nice and clean, which is always a plus. However, my stay was marred by several issues and inconveniences that I believe warrant attention. Upon checking in, we discovered that the mini fridge in our room wasn’t plugged in. This meant our food and drinks were left unrefrigerated for some time. After plugging it in, we found that it still didn’t cool effectively, leaving our items lukewarm. Additionally, the shower had two heads, but we weren't informed about how to operate the larger one. A quick orientation upon arrival could have avoided this confusion. We also encountered issues with the TV casting feature; it simply wouldn’t connect to our phone. When we reached out to the front desk, we were informed that it was not operational, leaving us with only regular cable for entertainment throughout the weekend. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was another disappointment. There was only one server on duty, which resulted in a long wait—15 minutes just for a glass of wine. The following morning, we were eager for breakfast but were informed that the chef had not come in for the day. While there was a café available, it only served pastries and not a full meal. It would have been helpful to receive this information in advance, perhaps through a notice in our room or at the front desk. After expressing our concerns about the breakfas

Enjoyed this boutique hotel. Clean, modern, tasteful. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. Did not love the food at the restaurant and unfortunately, the lounge only serves beer and wine as there is a school next door which prohibits them from selling liquor. Too bad because the lounge area has nice ambiance. Staff is very friendly and it's a short train ride to the city.

The hotel is very comfortable and has a lot of perks that makes you feel special. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was excellent, so was the breakfast the following day.

The hotel is beautiful. I would definitely stay there again. They have a sign that says brunch from 9-2 during the week. There is no brunch and the staff in the cafe was rude. The staff in the rest of the hotel was phenomenal.
