The elevator was out and did a climb with luggage to the 3rd floor but it feels like it’s still under construction and the bar area is very confusing. It’s check in, drinks and a complicated breakfast food area that is hard to tell if it’s payment required or part of the stay. Very quirky….and then there’s the bunk beds

Everything was wonderful. Staff was friendly, the bar had nice selection, room was clean and the perfect size for two, and the bathroom was spacious. Only downside was no space to store luggage, but not a major issue at all. The lobby was fun with lots of games to play. Will definitely be staying again!

This hotel is great for a friend reunion which is why I was there. I prefer to valet & have a bellman assist with my bags, but they don’t offer that & the parking is next door. Overall great hotel, great stay, and a hilarious checkin letter. High 5!

It was a nice, modern hotel. Unfortunately the water in Richmond was out for a while so drinks & food was minimal. While checking in a couple of ladies came in from outside and went behind the bar smelling strongly of marijuana. The fitness center had limited weights and work out machines.

Very comfortable stay. Convenient. Clean. Shower door was not hung correctly and would not close but otherwise very unique decor. Lobby area with very fun common space. Parking convenient.

The Moxy is in a good location in Richmond where it's not far to the train station and Shockoe bottom in one directions, or the arts district, the Fan, Historic Uptown, VCU's main campus, etc. in the other direction. Good places to eat nearby. As with other locations in this chain, rooms are small and lack amenities such as coffee makers, refrigerators, or a closet, but there's coffee service in the lobby, a bar, and many lobby nooks in which to chill with a drink. The bed was comfortable --firm with a soft top -- but was lacking in blankets and pillows. Then we found out about the stash locker -- a help-yourself locker with extras in it at the end of the hallway. I would definitely stay at a Moxy again for weekend trips or overnights when I'm going to spend most of my time out and about, and don't need the frills that come with the more luxuries properties closer to the train station. Special shout out to the friendly staff who do a good job explaining how the Moxy is different, and help to meet your needs. They mix a nice cocktail too.

Very nice staff were very helpful and nice with us. The hotel was super clean and in a walkable area in Downtown. The only not good experience was the parking because never open the link to make a payment and registration and always have to call to let us exit the garage.

Hotel was nice…fun and quirky as Moxy hotels are. The bed was super firm which isn’t a fit for us. There was only about 18 inches of cleanse on the top bunk for the 17 year old with us. Good thing she’s thin or she wouldn’t have been able to roll over in bed. The parking garage setup is crap. Getting to it from inside the hotel AND getting out of it once parked/on foot are both ridiculous. Neither are marked well and in some cases not at all. It was very frustrating have to do a couple flights of stairs with our luggage just to get to the parking garage.

Parking option does not belong to the property. The elevator in the garage was not working and hotel guest have to park on the 5th floor!!! Apparently this has been an issue for quite some time, but when it was mentioned, they just say “the garage doesn’t belong to us”. UGH!

Dec 2024. We Just got back from the Moxy Richmond. Had a great time. The hotel staff was super friendly and took care of all our needs. They were so pet friendly they even allowed our Yorkie to sit at the bar with us. We will definitely stay there again when we go back. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. The hotel is small so its much easier to manage. Lobby was awesome, much unlike other hotels.

I thought the property was very cute and fun. Unfortunately i don't think it was worth the cost. While the room was adorable, i didn't realize how small it would be. Unsure if the sheets were changed before us, found a few rogue hairs and trash under one of the mattresses. Roughed it anyways. Bathroom door actually got STUCK, needed maintenance to come fix it. He came quick, which was nice. He took a piece off that allows the door to stay in place, i asked him not to replace it during our stay because i did not want a chance of getting trapped and as a result, the bathroom door would not stay closed. That's probably on me, but it was a bit annoying. I don't regret the experience, the vibe was nice but i doubt i would return.

The staff were very friendly and helpful! The room was comfy, clean and though on the "small" side --- we didn't come there to hang in the room the whole time. Instead we explored the local area, hung out in any of the many comfy seated and entertainment areas around the first floor.

The hotel was really nice! Clean which made it much more comfortable to stay. I enjoyed the idea of the supply cabinet in each hall with toiletries, towels, and wash cloths. I wish they had thicker blankets for the bed as I get cold and also enjoy cushy comforters at hotels. Also could use more pillows but I checked in so late I didn’t want to ask for them. I like the complimentary drink card too. Didn’t get to use it but will do so next time I’m in Richmond!

Disappointing. No curb to unload at check in. Front office staff at check in not friendly. Bathroom not clean. Stash lockers, where we were to get our own clean towels, were not fully stocked. This hotel is definitely directed to 20 and 30 something travelers, not to mature travelers. Public areas were not ADA compliant.

The first thing I noticed that the lines should are washed with either Gain or Tide detergent or another inexpensive option that I am unfortunately allergic too. I spend most night awake trouble breathing, and at 2 AM I began vomiting. The shower door did not stay closed wich made it difficult since the floor is so slippery that holding on to the handle while soaping as well as holding the door shut required an acrobatic act that I will never hope to repeat. Too many toxic chemicals floating throughout the hotel. Stepping into a gloomy hallway from the elevator is depressing.

The lady at the front desk kept mumbling instead of talking to the point i continually had to say what/excuse me. The shower head had mold in it. The ac barely worked. And when i went to get snacks from their in hotel store the person at the desk had an attitude as if i my presence bothered them. The bed was horribly rough. And for the price the room is way to small.

Room was very noisy from street below and bed uncomfortable. Extremely small room. Barn door style bathroom with large gaps meant no privacy. No lotion in bathroom. For the price per night we were disappointed.

This hotel is trying really hard to look cool, but it's just an average hotel. The garage situation is confusing and unnecessarily complicated (you have to call, then get a code, then get a text, then go online, Everytime you want to enter or exit). The staff doesn't seem particularly friendly or intered in helping. The AC is extremely loud in the room.

Door man was excellent, gave me directions and interesting places to visit. They did not have the bed I ordered and gave me a room with no windows. No apologies and she never smiled. The room had bunk beds but I travel solo. Plus I am a Marriott rewards member.

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever booked. The room was windowless and dark like a small dungeon. The hallways were dark too. I couldn’t wait to book an alternative hotel and get out. Worst of all, we only stayed one of the three nights and they refused to issue a refund for the nights we did not stay. Worst experience EVER.

Neat stylish hotel. Staff were friendly, location isn’t bad, and a parking garage is right next to the hotel. I wanted to really like this place but the Queen we had booked ended up being a full mattress and the beds were uncomfortably firm.

Nice hotel but small and very cozy. For a one night stay it was perfect. Used the garage next door, no real way to load or unload the car without doing street side parking. Did not have any issue with hot water and actually thought the shower was among the better ones in a hotel. The bed was a bit stiff and the room was small (rm 407). But drinks vouchers upon arrival, located close to a few restaurants and enough to entertain for night made it a nice visit. Would stay again.

Our stay was fine, just felt that for the price there would be more to it. Its decorate nicely and looks trendy...but that's about it. We stayed in a room with bunk beds and it didn't get cool enough even with the air set to 68 degrees. If you're planning on being in the hotel and want a nice bar, the bar looked nice. We had outside plans though. Clean place. In and out parking for 24 hours in the parking desk for $20.

Hotel is very nice. I would say for anyone looking for a kid friendly hotel this hotel is not the one for you. Also the lighting in the room was very poor. Great staff and very nice location.

The Moxy crew are hilarious, helpful, and fully committed to make sure each guest has an awesome stay.

Mello, Hannah, and Trinity were outstanding at check-in and while we sat at the bar. The room was more spacious than expected with incredibly comfortable beds. Definitely recommend this hotel!

I absolutely loved the Moxy and hope to stay here again. The bed was incredibly comfortable, great blackout curtains, wonderful air conditioning (that didn’t wake me up), great location. And the staff were so pleasant, especially Mella and Trinity at the front desk.

Although the cleanliness and property was up to par, my check in experience was horrible. I conveniently took the train into Richmond, Va for a festival. Upon checking in I was told there were no rooms with windows available and it was due to me making a 3rd party reservation. Basically 3rd party reservations a subpar to those who reserve in the hotel site. After I emphasize that I need to be compensated for my inconvenience the staff sent the manager a text and asked if I wanted the available room or did I want to find somewhere else to stay? Needless to say I had a few choice words for him professionally and told him I’ll follow up with his manager. I was assigned another room and given 2 drink tickets the next day but I would never recommend this specific location to anyone. Due to tmy checkin experience.

Booked this hotel months in advance and paid upfront. Waited over 30mins in line trying to check in. They only had one computer to check guests in. When trying to check into the hotel, I get told that they are overbooked and don't have a room for me. This was the case for other people waiting in line as well. The hotel also looks nicer online than in person. Don't recommend.

The parking deck is small but cheap compared to other hotels and it's easy to come and go. I highly recommend staying here. Excellent value for price in downtown Richmond and something a little different. The staff was truly top notch.

Cool design hotel with very friendly staff, super-conveniently located (we were there for the Richmond Marathon and it is just a few blocks from start and finish lines).

My experience at Hotel Moxy was clean, comfortable, convenient location. Parking in the parking deck was a little agitating but with that said it felt like a completely safe and secure to leave your vehicle and walking the short distance to the hotel lobby. If u like things a little different or are looking for a fresh experience this is prob a good place for you to check out. i have nothing i could say negative to say about Moxy. I was comfortable and the staff was top notch.

The hotel itself was wonderful. Staff was accommodating and personable. The residents of the city however were terribly loud, very late into the early morning. I mean window shaking loud music and raucous crowds on the street corner well past 0330. Also their music choice sucked.

Funky concept but didn't delight. Lobby and staff were fun. Color palette was cool. No breakfast. A/C only came from one side of the room, while the bed was on the other side of a wall so poor airflow. Felt a bit more like a dorm than a hotel if that's the vibe you want - try it

I stayed at Moxy for one evening with my family and we had a great time. The hotel staff were very positive, personable, and helpful. The room was very clean and I love that each floor has a cabinet with extra towels and other odds and ends, so guests can just grab what they need and not have to wait for housekeeping. Breakfast was great, but took a long time (20 minutes for 3 bagels with no other guests waiting), so may not be ideal for guests in a rush.

Toilet seat was broken in room. Coffee/espresso promised in the morning with drink vouchers but was not available. If we had known we would not be able to get coffee in the morning, we would have used our vouchers for drinks at the bar the night we checked in. Room was very clean.

Everything was wonderful. Staff was friendly, the bar had nice selection, room was clean and the perfect size for two, and the bathroom was spacious. Only downside was no space to store luggage, but not a major issue at all. The lobby was fun with lots of games to play. Will definitely be staying again!

I chose the Moxy for it's location, the room was clean and classy but small (cheapest one they have). The heat worked but had to turn off to cool down and the person for breakfast wasn't there at 7:30 so I only got coffee.

This hotel seems like it was made for millennials and gen-Z guests. It is fresh and young, with plenty of activities in the lobby including pool, board games and even video games! Hotel bar is great, if expensive. We were offered a free welcome drink which was light and refreshing (they offer non-alcoholic drinks as well for this). The food was pretty good. Infused water stations and a pretty expansive snack bar too. That being said, there were some problems with the ice machine, and I wish they'd kept the door closed to the lobby a bit more - we'd come back late at night and the lobby doors were wide open, doesn't seem the most secure. Overall we would definitely stay again and would stay at other moxy hotels too.

We had a great time here! Mello(w) checked us in and out at the front desk and they were fun and enthusiastic! Hannah was a great bartender, we loved watching them work and chatting. Such a fun and unique hotel, I highly recommend staying here. We also ate at Penny Lane right across the street. And Broad Street is just a short walk away.

This is definitely a niche hotel. Very hip and aesthetically appealing. It evoked the the sensation of fun and matched the vibe sense I was in town to see Dope Lemon at The National. The staff was kind and helpful. My only caveat was a slight mildew odor in my room. I used my personal room spray and that helped. There's a cozy pub across directly across the street and a few other eats walking distance. Overall the hotel Is amazing and worth a booking. A one of a kind of experience.
