Hotel is only small but very good and comfortable excellent place to stay for visiting Portsmouth on foot if you have a room with harbour view then it really is a room with a view we sat for ages just watching people and boats in the harbour room was clean breakfast was very nice and staff were very friendly great place to stay will definitely go back

Great hotel, really close to Gunwharf Quays and Historic Dockyard and right across the road from railway station. We had a room on 3rd floor and it was very spacious and comfortable. Beautiful bathroom with lovely shower. Very good breakfast. Really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

We were so lucky this hotel had a free room on the evening when our overnight ferry was cancelled with only a few hours notice. I had travelled seven hours by train and there hadn’t been a buffet cart on it so by the time I arrived I was thirsty and hungry.The very kind gentleman at reception gave me the bedroom keys , fresh milk for my cuppa tea and some breakfast cereal! The room was great with a fan and very comfy bed. We didn’t have the breakfast as we had to leave at 6 am to catch the new ferry. The free car park was great and secured Portsmouth is a pretty expensive place to stay but we felt we had good value as we do appreciate kindness, clean rooms and a comfy bed! We will be back another time to see the Mary Rose Museum and HMS Victory…. Portsmouth is a great place to learn more about naval history, great shops and Brasserie Blanc for supper was formidable!( a great start to our French holiday)

We had a small double at the back overlooking the car park, so no view. The decor was a bit Spartan in black and white and no pictures or anything. Mattress quite hard. It was clean and the staff helpful and friendly. The shower mastic needs replacing as it is mouldy and has come away from the wall along the shower tray. There were no hooks or a towel rail for towels which were changed unnecessarily. All equipment worked. Breakfast was ample and well cooked to order. It was really useful to have a safe place to park the car and the location was great for hopping over to the island and walking along the coast. The most tensely populated city in the UK is a bit of a maze to drive through and the directions given weren’t accurate if following google maps, but we worked it out. It was much easier to get out of the city than going in. The tourist things and eating out were expensive- the Spinnaker especially and you need to book in advance to be sure of getting a table or experience. The area feels a bit run down in general. But it was nice to go back and revisit an old haunt.

Perfect location on the waterfront and for shopping at Gunwharf. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Free parking is round the back and a real bonus. TV in our room wasn’t a smart TV and drinking water in the room would have been nice. Other than that would definitely recommend.
