Although I had selected the pet friendly filter on Expedia when making the reservation, this was apparently not shared with the motel, which created confusion at check in. A room was available, but the extra expense was unexpected and higher than in previous years. Also, the room floor was grimy when we checked in and apparently never cleaned during our stay.

A beautiful setting. Rooms are decorated with a theme and very homey looking. Very pleasant change from the stark white of chain hotels. Large grassy area to walk or sit and enjoy the evening. Chairs even provided for sitting outside to enjoy the quiet nature.

Excellent little gem on the hill! Place was convenient to highway, and room was very cozy and bed was very comfortable! Really enjoyed staying there! Only thing was we arrived after 10pm and office was closed! It caused a little confusion on my part until I read the sign that pointed me to key and envelope with receipt! We didn’t stay for breakfast but thought about hitting place on way back! We would highly recommend this place.

Very beautiful spot for a small hotel like this. Cute little cottage feel to rooms and lobby. Only down fall is lobby is only open till10:30 so if your traveling and getting in late there wouldn’t be anyone there for check in. Beautiful outdoor sitting areas and views!

Perfect hotel if you’re on a bike , all rooms on ground floor, you park your bike virtually 7 feet from the bed, super nice place , clean and even the grounds are nice, chairs & tables to sit on

This is a quaint little motel that was comfortable and clean. The guy at reception was not very friendly and the coffee wasn't drinkable, but those are my only complaints. Luckily there is both a McDonalds and a Casey's next door for coffee. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the wooden chairs set on the hill in the yard. Would stay there again.

The hotel is very nice a quaint. It's quite and clean. I loved that they allowed my 3 dogs to stay there and they had a lovely large grassy field for my dogs to play frisbee to get some exercise before bed. My only issue is that the pet fee was very high at $20.00 per dog.

The first room we were given the refrigerator had been off for so long that the ice had melted in the freezer and there were dead nats or something in the water! The replacement room they gave us there were cob webs on the ceiling with dead flys in them and it smelled like someone had been smoking in the room. The night clerk was very unfriendly amd not much help. The morning person had a mich better attitude amd was very friendly amd helpful.

This is one of the nicest stays we have experienced. The room was immaculate and beautifully decorated. This is an old style motel but nothing is old style about it. We would stay here again and highly recommend you to do so as well.

Our room smelled so fresh when we walked in. It was decorated with a fun beach theme. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was hot with great water pressure. The location was right off the highway, yet it was very quiet and peaceful.

The property was on a nice quiet back area and the room was cute. The room itself was cozy and comfortable and cute. The cleaning left something to be desired. There was still trash on the floor and under the bed and counters from other prior guests. The plug didn't work in the tub, as I had to use rags to plug it. And I'm pretty sure I heard mouse scratching around. If it gets cleaned up better and the tub gets fixed, I'd stay again. But as of right now. No.

Cozy room with ocean theme. Bathroom was upgraded for bath/shower. Toilet was also new, but for some reason they installed an industrial toilet instead of one you would normally find in home or a hotel.The towels were not white in our room either, which is surprising, although not a problem. More homey, which the toilet was not. Also no way to make hot water.

The hotel had a 9.2 rating - I don't know how it received such a high score. The room was quaint - a bear and elk motif ran throughout the bed's quilt, pictures on the walls, and knickknacks. And the bed was comfortable. But the door was very difficult to lock - I had to push the door closed with some force to get the lock to turn (and a good tug on the door was required to open the lock). In addition, the room was very damp. When my wife took off her shoes she commented that the floor was wet - it was not "wet" but one could definitely feel the moisture in the carpet. The room was also very dark - more powerful lightbulbs or another lamp would have been very helpful. Finally, the breakfast was so-so - it was unattended so supplies were low, there was no decaf coffee, and there was only powdered creamer.

Excellent little gem on the hill! Place was convenient to highway, and room was very cozy and bed was very comfortable! Really enjoyed staying there! Only thing was we arrived after 10pm and office was closed! It caused a little confusion on my part until I read the sign that pointed me to key and envelope with receipt! We didn’t stay for breakfast but thought about hitting place on way back! We would highly recommend this place.

Our room smelled so fresh when we walked in. It was decorated with a fun beach theme. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was hot with great water pressure. The location was right off the highway, yet it was very quiet and peaceful.

Overall, this was a very pleasant stay! It is an older motel, as has been stated, but very clean and comfortable. For the price, it was a bargain. Very minimal breakfast but a Caseys is right close and the diner connected to it was delicious!😉 If you just need a bed, can't beat it!

My husband and I considered our stay at Crest Country Inn to be a special treat. We felt as if we were a guest in someone's home. Special care and attention was felt during our stay, from check-in, to the warm and cozy room, to the breakfast area. The outside area was equally inviting and "home like." This was not just an overnight stay, but a special experience to remember.

Very clean, rooms decorated at 5-star hotel levels. Very comfortable bed, thanks to a firm bed plus a memory foam mattress topper. Gracious and hospitable hostess/owner. There is a lovely large lawn available with Adirondack chairs and (I think) a picnic table under some shade trees. The hotel itself is an older basic building - one story, outside room entrances that open to parking - thus 4 stars instead of 5. Also, the breakfast was very basic Continental style - but with real brewed coffee. There is a McDonalds close by; I would get coffee at the hotel and food at McD's.

This is the only place we stay when we come to the Williamsburg/Amanas/Iowa City area. The rooms are well maintained and QUIET. It is close to shopping and several dining establishments, and run by a very kind family. The rooms look like B & B rooms with comfortable beds, and there is a continental breakfast as well. We definitely recommend this inn!

a really good stay at this old style motel. It was neat and clean and comfortable all at a reasonable price. shopping and restaurants very close by. The breakfast is very light- just packaged pastries, breakfast bars, yogurt, etc. but enough to get one going.

This is a quaint little motel that was comfortable and clean. The guy at reception was not very friendly and the coffee wasn't drinkable, but those are my only complaints. Luckily there is both a McDonalds and a Casey's next door for coffee. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the wooden chairs set on the hill in the yard. Would stay there again.

We come to the area at least once a year, and this is the only place we stay. It is affordable, clean, quiet, and a overall great value. My only request is to bring back automatic daily housekeeping, and to add a few items to the continental breakfast. But those are small things that keep it from being phenomenal as opposed to great. The rooms are well cared for and comfortable, and the staff is very nice.

The hotel had a 9.2 rating - I don't know how it received such a high score. The room was quaint - a bear and elk motif ran throughout the bed's quilt, pictures on the walls, and knickknacks. And the bed was comfortable. But the door was very difficult to lock - I had to push the door closed with some force to get the lock to turn (and a good tug on the door was required to open the lock). In addition, the room was very damp. When my wife took off her shoes she commented that the floor was wet - it was not "wet" but one could definitely feel the moisture in the carpet. The room was also very dark - more powerful lightbulbs or another lamp would have been very helpful. Finally, the breakfast was so-so - it was unattended so supplies were low, there was no decaf coffee, and there was only powdered creamer.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Like an old fashioned motor inn that was updated, clean, and comfortable. I liked being able to park right outside the door. The room was big and clean and the bed was comfortable. The bedding and decor made it feel like I was staying at a friend’s house and not a plain hotel room. I would definitely stay here again.

We spent a night at Cross Country Inn. Our room showed that great attention was paid by the management to decorating, maintenance and upkeep. Everything was clean and the bathroom fixtures and vanity seemed new. There were extra little touches everywhere that warmed our hearts. And the area around this property is all rural and very quiet. Very restorative. The reasons I subtracted a star were as follows. 1. The WiFi was very spotty. I do realize that this motel is in a rural area. That's part of the charm. But having WiFi that goes in and out can be a real nuisance in this age when we do so much of our business and life online. 2. As many upgrades as have been done here, I think it's time to figure out how to improve the number and placement of electrical outlets available, especially near the desk top--not just on the wall near the desk down by the floor. To the owners, the messages you left in the room blessed us greatly. Thank you.
