Avenue Hotel Canberra

Very convenient area, just 5 mins walk from the bus terminal from Sydney and close to tram to Gungahlin, Canberra Centre mall and many restaurants and cafes. The hotel itself is very comfortable and clean. The gym is one of the best hotel gyms we have used and is open 24hours. All in all a very pleasant stay and will definitely recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in Canberra.

The spa bath was magical, but unfortunately it wasn’t clean when I switched it on after filling it. Loads of black gunk came out from the jets. I reported it next morning when I was going out for the day and was assured it would be sorted. I asked on my return that evening and was told it had been checked by the maintenance team and cleaned by housekeeping. So I was surprised to find it still dirty when I got back to my room. Reception were very apologetic and gave me another identical room and a $20 voucher for the restaurant. Still a bit of a pain as I had to pack and move.

Nice business hotel. The spa room was spacious, tidy and quiet. Checkin and onsite parking was easy. Only issue was spa did not 100% work (couple jet buttons didn’t work) otherwise overall everything was as expected.

Great room , very spacious nice kitchenette and walkable to restaurants and cafes . Underground parking is very tight to get into with bigger cars

Pros location is great. Close to many shops and restaurants. The bed was comfortable and bedside lights have USB ports. Washing machine is convenient as is kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and full size fridge. Parking is available in basement for a fee $20 per night…it adds up if staying for longer than few nights. If look closely interior of building needs repairs. Whilst no impact to our room there appeared to be water damage on our floor. Rather than ducted, the air con is split system with one in living room and another unit in bedroom which blows air directly onto face. Not ideal. Inadequate drainage in bathroom so lots of water seepage onto tiles outside of shower. Perhaps this is why there are so many towels…for guests to clean up the mess as bath mat is far from adequate. Also unpleasant odour coming from bathroom drains. Carpets not exactly clean, need to wear slippers else your socks / feet will be dirty. They don’t refresh slippers during your stay either and these can get tired after a few days. Amenities of shampoo and conditioner very ordinary. Definitely not premium or luxury product. Buffet breakfast was average. Glad it wasn’t more than $34pp. Ate at steakhouse for dinner, again nothing special and somewhat expensive at nearly $300 for two. Overall this is more of a 4 star and not representative of 5 star as claimed. Is more akin to a Mercure or Novotel. If you can get at discount rate then it’s okay else plenty of other options in Canberra

Room climate was warm on arrival but A/C fixed it! 👍 Gym not very hygenic. Had to see reception staff to get water and dirty towel chute dislodged phone line so could not call reception to speak to them. Everything else was great! Bathroom, dining area, balcony was great!

Everything is good except for no free parking

We booked the Spa suite with breakfast included at a discounted price. It was absolutely Amazing!!!!! Best Spa ever!!! Didn't want to leave. Highly recommended!

Great room with spa.. Had everything needed for a longer stay with loads of restaurants within close walking proximity to the hotel. EV charging available although I thought the overnight slow charging was expensive at $35 per stay

To start the room was clean and tidy. As we stayed several days slowly our room was not serviced adequately. Things like not being vacuumed daily. The bed not being made correctly and the shower not being cleaned at all

The rooms are spacious but require some maintenance and up keep The room was a bit dusty on the tables and shelves The outdoor chairs are uncomfortable- more like a stool - not very inviting The place itself is very central

The room wasn’t cleaned from the last customers and we had to wait 45 minutes for the room to be cleaned. EXTREMELY POOR !!!!!!

Mainly great experience other than the one day of housekeeping, they didnt replenish our coffee, tea and milk, also great that they changed our towels however forgot to put two face washers. The gentleman at the reception kindly provided us the tea, coffee and milk. The restaurant onsite is to die for. Absolutely outstanding steak there.

Stayed 2 nights - the room was very clean! Easy parking. Good size bathroom, lots of water, nice towels. Breakfast was very good, selection varied. Great location.

My Room wasnt cleaned before I entered the room. Staff had no idea at all that me room was still wasn’t cleaned or made up. SHOCKING !!!!

Rooms are modern, clean and spacious and the hotel staff are always very friendly.

There was mould in the shower and the body soap container had not been filled (was empty)!

The wifi in the rooms is either poor or nonexistent

Blue light glow above your head from Aircon unit is terrible. Lights the whole room up. Other then that, hotel is clean and amazing!

A great motel that would be even better if they updated their AV system in the room. A non-smart TV with an old LG DVD player is a bit outdated! No streaming service options, no Foxtel and no casting capabilities. FTA tv is horrendously boring so having AV options would be nice.

Great location. Very comfortable. Do not get ground floor rooms in tower 1 from 1 to 4 as there is too much noise from cars and pedestrians walking past.

Excellent king room room with plenty of space separate lounge area, kitchen and clothes washer and great amenities very clan and quiet location.

A great hotel. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment that was beautifully appointed. The only drawback was the king mattress. It was old and uncomfortable and needs to be replaced.

Great rooms that block out noise from outside. Walking distance to everything. Really comfortable beds!

Huge rooms, King bed, double balcony, internal laundry, fully stocked kitchenette, Clean as a whistle, walk to other restaurants, good breakfast at attached steakhouse restaurant, easy walk to large shopping centre.

Avenue Hotel Canberra boasts a prime location, with spacious apartments equipped with kitchens and washing machines. However, our experience was marred by poor room servicing. Despite receiving a call a month in advance to confirm bedding arrangements, implying readiness for the busy period, we arrived at 2:45pm to find our rooms unprepared. No communication about the delay was provided, leaving us unable to plan accordingly. Each day, we left our service light on at 7am but returned after 3pm to find the rooms still unserviced. For the premium price, we expected to be able to rest after a day out, not to wait and make way for cleaning staff. When we inquired about the lack of service, staff cited check-ins as the priority. This was contradictory since our room wasn't ready at check-in, indicating understaffing and lack of preparedness despite awareness of the busy period.

Free upgrade to a bigger room and excellent customer service.

Upon arrival, our special request was not received nor compensated. Staff members constantly tried to enter while ‘do not disturb’ was on the door. Even worse is the fact that they still proceeded after my partner stated she was getting dressed. We were also basically forced out of the room after affirming a late checkout prior. Very disappointed..

Best hotel I’ve stayed at in Canberra! I was upgraded to 1 bedroom apartment and it was very spacious with comfortable bed, excellent shower and nice views. Staff were very helpful and room service was good, Will definitely stay here again!

Gym did not have vet wipes. Staff was inattentive at breakfast.

Staff member who checked me in was rude and abrupt and could do with some training on customer service. Otherwise we did enjoy our stay at The Avenue. The apartment was well equipped and lovely and quiet. The location is great with an easy walk into the city or nearby restaurants in Braddon. Would definitely consider staying there again

Make sure you pay the little bit extra for breakfast. Marble and Grain put on an amazing buffet every morning from 7am. Delicious! The hotel and apartments are immaculate and have everything you need. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location, such friendly hotel staff- felt very welcomed from the moment we arrived. Front desk staff happy to answer any questions. Room has everything needed for a short stay with a child. Great buffet breakfast selection, would recommend this hotel to friends and family. Only negative from our trip was the breakfast staff were not nice or attentive at all, for example they didn't seat anyone, no cutlery or crockery available and everyone listened to them complain about being at work the entire meal.

Great hotel will highly recommend it. Housekeeping was second to none. Breakfasts were good with plenty of choice. Bar meals were a bit expensive so we went for the fish and chips which were cooked really well.

Coffee in restaurant was terrible, food we great even though we had to eat at the bar because we could not get a reservation (wish they had told me to book when I booked the room) and who has instant coffee in a room of this standard seriously 2 star tea and coffee and what is with only raw sugar or afterficial sweater no while sugar or real milk
