Hotel Gran Ms Kyoto

The hotel is located a short walk from a covered shopping arcade, the bus stops right out front to go to Kyoto Station, so great location. There is no food available at the hotel, but with a 7-11 and restaurants nearby, that is not an issue. The rooms are quite small. There is coin op laundry, but unless you are doing a VERY small load, expect several cycles in the dryer.

Our stay was great! Love the little common area with tables as we could sit and eat our food from the convenience store next door.

The hotel was well located to sites, staff was friendly and our room was clean and comfortable. They have a lovely common area on the main floor to sit and visit with friend, eat or play a game.

Conveniently located. Right next to bus stops reaching ALL Kyoto's attractions. 2 minutes walk to city metro and 6 minutes walk to Keihan Line. Hundreds of shops and restaurants in its vicinity, including the Nishiki market, Donki, Kiddy Land, and department stores. Hotel is clean and looks new. Just hope they have more washing machines (2 only).

アクセスが良く、便利。 朝食にお勧めのカフェなどの地図が用意してあって、楽しみながら選べました。 部屋は清潔でしたが、バスルームとの段差が大きい。 館内は禁煙だけど、入口付近が喫煙所になっているのか、チェックインしている時に煙草の臭いが凄かったです。

Great service. Loved the little touches like free ice cream, toiletries, robes, slippers and they let you borrow umbrellas as well. Loved the location and proximity to market, shops, restaurants and nite life. Would definitely stay again on next trip to Kyoto.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location, close to shopping and dining. Having a laundry onsite is convenient.

This was a great hotel within easy reach of buses & metro / train stations. Decent sized room with fridge, A/C and daily bin & towel change. Amenities were self serve at reception and hotel had ice, vending machine & washing machines. Great place to stay and enjoyed our time here.

Fin beliggenhed. Rommet hadde standard Japan størrelse. Der var en skærm i stedet for mørklægningsgardiner, der ikke kunne lukkes helt, hvorfor værelset var ret lyst. Badeværelset fremstod gammelt, og toilettet virkede dårligt.

The room was cleaned daily. Staffs are nice and helpful. The location is excellent.

Clean room, staff was super helpful with sending my suitcase on to my next hotel, WiFi was ok, could have been a little faster for streaming. Location was great.

Did not like the smell in the bathroom. Good Wi-Fi. Walkable to Nishi market which is a plus and close to Gion District

Overall the hotel left a very good impression. A small issue with the cleanliness of the bathroom however the exceptional staff were very helpful in rectifying the issue. It's conveniently located and I look forward to staying here on my next visit to Kyoto.

Наш номер смотрел на буддийский храм, но окно нельзя было открыть из за запахов, выходящих из ресторана под ним. Нетрудно было заметить что окна не мыли очень давно. Кровати удобные, все очень миниатюрно, что понятно в таком центральном месте. Но в ванной с туалетом был с самого начала нечистый запах. А так как на протяжении трёх дней пребывания уборка не делается, запах усилился до очень неприятного..

Our stay was unfortunately not the best. The hotel uses central climate control, and since we visited in early November, the heat was on throughout the building. We woke up several times during the night sweating, which made it hard to rest. The staff did provide a fan, which helped a little, and we were lucky that our window could crack open, but overall the room remained uncomfortably warm. The room itself felt dated compared to other places we have stayed, and the restroom had an unpleasant urine-like smell coming from the pipes or toilet. These issues definitely affected our experience. The one redeeming factor was the location. You truly cannot beat it. It is steps away from Nishiki Market and only a short 5 to 10 minute walk to great shopping and food. Just a heads up for future travelers: if you are sensitive to room temperature, be cautious with centrally climate-controlled hotels. For us, it has become a dealbreaker moving forward.

Clean, quiet and comfortable.

Staff were excellent and very helpful. Room was clean. No room controls for heating/air conditioning so I found the room hot and stuffy all the days of my stay. Noisy construction in the area that starts at 6 am.

Room was nice and clean but the street light was too bright to sleep at night. The sound from outside was quite loud at night. Stayed 2 nights, towels and tea was replaced but used tea cups were not. Maybe we supposed to wash ourselves? Not a big deal, overall we were happy with our stay😊

Although the room was small and the bathroom/shower unit was a modular installation, this hotel would be hard to beat for the price. It's within easy walking distance to Gion, and there is a bus stop that serves three lines right outside. If you have oversized luggage and need room to spread out, this may not be for you - But if your goal is to just have a place to sleep and throw your stuff while you explore Kyoto, I highly recommend. Amazing staff, spacious waiting/reception area, drinking water dispenser, luggage storage if you show up early or want to keep exploring after you've checked out, many amenities.

Basic rooms, very clean. Few amenities, and the rooms were uncomfortably hot during our stay at the end of November (we were not able to lower the heat or turn on AC). The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is in an excellent location, near a subway station.

Close to subway, and with good dining options and konbini nearby. Standard business hotel with room on the small side and very small bathroom.

The hotel was great but wifi was pretty bad. The rooms were also somewhat small.

Property seemed nice, with air conditioner set at 19 Celsius in the room, until our air conditioner broke. It was really hot and the staff offered us a fan and to open the window. The room overlooked a big avenue so it was really loud with all the cars rushing by. I asked to have our room changed since we had two nights at this hotel. So they changed us to a room in the following floor, which looked spacious and nice. Until that rooms air conditioner started leaking condensation. We had to put cups and a tray to catch the water dripping. We advised the hotel and they fixed it the following day while we were out, but when we came back into room the air was set to 25 Celsius which was hot. I called the hotel front desk and was told we could not lower it because it was controlled centrally and they needed to keep it at that temperature so others rooms would cool as well ( I didn’t understand why since all rooms have their own small unit). So we left it at that and went to do some laundry in the hotel laundry room. There we meet two couples that both mentioned their air conditioner was set to 19 Celsius and was ok. So I went to the front desk to ask why others had it at 19 and ours had to stay at 25. He offered to lower it to 20. We went back to the laundry room to pick up our completed wash and there was a lady that told us her rooms air conditioner wasn’t working and that they offered her a fan also. So seems like they have issues with air conditioners or need to get them check

I felt like this property was misleading when it advertised air conditioning (AC) because it is not actually something you can control in the room. The hotel only has it on during certain hours and I was very hot all night as my window as chained shut. They also only have sheer window curtains and the bright lights from the stairway of the hotel across the street was very bright in my room all night. The WiFi was also terrible. But the staff was helpful and the bed was comfortable.

The walls are thin, we could hear a tv and snoring through the walls. The wifi was slow and unreliable. The room was too hot at night and the thermostat didn’t seem to do anything. There was a high enough step into the bathroom that a stepping stool was provided. It was a somewhat long walk to the nearest subway. On the positive side, the location was excellent.

Fint hotel og super fin beliggenhed. Meget små værelser. Det var ikke muligt at have sin kuffert åben uden at spærre for al gang i værelset. Vi valgte hotellet primært pga. beliggenhed og pris. Og vi vidste at vi ville være ude og opleve byen og Japan og ikke være så meget på værelserne.

My stay here started on a weird note as unbeknownst to me, there was a small leak in the ceiling of my room that dripped into my shoes all night on the first day. Once I informed the staff of the leak, they offered to move me to a different room and bonus for me it was significantly bigger. The staff here are friendly, approachable, and attentive. The hotel is is a very convenient place with plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. Overall I was happy to stay here.

Had a great stay at Hotel Gran Ms Kyoto! Had the most kind staff ever, who helped us collect our luggage after it was turned away by the convenience store we sent it to. They went above and beyond by contacting the Yamato Transport desk that our luggage was left at, and organising with them that we would go pick it up. This situation caused me a lot of stress and they gave me a lot of peace of mind! The location was easy to get to from the closest station and in an incredibly convenient and walkable location - rarely had to take a bus or train to get to restaurants and bars. The facilities were sufficient, however there is an odd step up into the bathroom via a small stool. The walls are quite thin and due to the location we could hear the street the whole night, however this was not a complete issue for us as its nice to fully immerse yourself in a city! Additionally, the cold did seep through the windows, making it cold when we woke up especially on the snow days but that was nothing the heating in the room couldn't fix.

The location is convenient, pretty close to a lot of bus stops as well as the subway. There's is a 7-eleven right around the corner (and a FamilyMart nearby as well). The room is much more spacious than expected. They provide the typical amenities such as water, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. The beds were comfortable. I wish the hotel had advertised earlier that the temperature of the rooms are centralized so you can't make it colder or hotter. The signs noted to ask for a fan to help cool the room down, which we did, as well as open the window. My biggest issue was the service here. I have never been to a 3 or 4 star hotel that refused to assist with organizing a taxi from the hotel to the train station. I asked twice on two different days and both staff members told me getting a taxi would be as simple as walking down the street to the taxi stand (however I knew it would be difficult because there would be 4 of us, with large luggages, and in the early morning (6am) AND IT WAS. We managed to catch a van taxi but it cut it close, literally 5 minutes before the train left.

Clean room. Very central with a lot of bus and train stations, convenience stores, and restaurants close by. Staff was so helpful with any questions! I was able to forward my luggages to my next destination easily as well. I would stay here again!

Ms Togashi (Clair) at the front desk has been a super star. She was patient with us in helping with local tour when our planned tour operator backed off last minute, places to eat and visit and things to do around the place. She speaks fluent english and that too was a big plus. Thank you Clair for making our visit memorable.

Great hotel close to transit in Kyoto! Lots of delicious and affordable places to eat nearby. Less than 1 minute from the nearest convenience store for snacks/drinks. The room was big enough for Japan. The shower was great with hot water and strong pressure. The bed was super comfy. The staff was very nice and accommodating when we lost an item on the train.

Paid everything on Expedia, but then they charge you 500 yen PER NIGHT extra surcharge! I stayed 3 days, so that's an extra 1500 yen. The room stank like a wet dog, the staff was rude about changing the room. The AC is "centrally controlled" meaning you can't change the temp or the fan speed. There's even signs in the elevator about it. Well guess what, it gets hot too bad suffer. If it wasn't sakura season and everywhere else booked, I would have moved. Only good thing is it's right on the main shopping street, walking distance to the Edogawa river, Gion, and the subway. But better to look elsewhere, this place is not good.

Most staff are easy to communicate in English with. Hotel and room does not stink. Coin laundry is a little bit limited (2 washing machine amd 2 dryers). We needed to send our luggage to our next hotel which will be 4 days later, since luggage transport agency would deliver our luggages in a day, they let us leave our luggages with them and they will send on a later day. Staff were rally helpful. It's situated right near downtown and close to transportation stops. Would recommend.

The hotel is very convieniently located near the historic Gion area and very close to a vast mall that contains every type of shop you can imagine as well as many resturants. Its only about 100m from the Subway (once you find the right exit) and just off one of the main streets. Its easy to find as the rooms (not the entrance) face the new catholic cathedral. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and confortable (but like most in Japan very compact). We really liked our stay here and it was a very convienient base to explore Kyoto from. There are dozens if not hundreds of resturants within a couple of hundred meters.

This hotel is in the PERFECT location, right next to Nishiki Market and Pontocho Alley. Restaurants close fairly early in Kyoto (~5/6pm) but being so close to Nishiki Market, there was always plenty of food options that stayed open late, including shopping! It was also right in front of a bus station that was my main route for visiting other areas of Kyoto throughout the week. It was also very quiet and didn’t hear any other residents. Additionally, the staff was very friendly and spoke good English so there was less of a language barrier to overcome. Also reasonably priced too!

The hotel was well located for 3 underground stations, lots of shopping and food and entertainment in the area within walking distance. Hotel was good value given the location. Not a five star by any means but can’t fault it. No obvious catering on site, but lots of eateries, and 2 conbinis in very close proximity. A communal area in the foyer with tables. Tax to the station cost about ¥2600 which is about £13.00. Really not bad for the comfort, having walked the route and found it hard with suitcases.

We stayed in a Japanese style room with small garden with our 2 teenage children. It was a great space for the 4 of us and we all enjoyed sleeping on the futons. There was plenty of hanging space for clothes and suitcases. The area was great too, being close to shopping areas, plenty of options for eating, Nishiki market and Gion. I would definitely stay here again.
