Tappan Zee Hotel

Room was very hot on arrival and took several hours to cool down ( past bedtime). Also smoke detector was beeping because it needed a battery. Front desk offered to move us to another hot room but we declined. Removed battery from smoke detector.

No complaints here, we enjoyed our stay as it was very convenient for shopping and nearby interstate 287. Room was decent and the bed was very comfortable. Shower is small and took time for hot water to kick in. Wasn't expecting a fridge and microwave so that was a plus.Pros: affordable, Great mall across the street, Easy access to 287. Cons: I'm sure i could find something to say but for the price point it was better then expected.

It was an older hotel. The room was neat and clean. It had a flat screen TV, mini fridge and microwave. It was across from the Palesades Mall. So you could drive or walk over to shop and eat. The shower and bathroom was small but I expected that based on the price and type of hotel.

Service did not exist. No Ice, no water or any drinks. We had to go to nearby gas station for any drinks or food. Very dated!! Stained furniture and carpets. Fridge, AC,and TV ,worked. No dining. No extra towels or pillows. Convenient for us but other than that, I don't think I would stay again.

Roof leaked in a rainstorm and the cieling collapsed in the roof. Filled a suitcase with rain and broken cieling tiles. They refused to wash anything, just said it wasnt their fault. They transferred us to another room where they A/C didnt work, then gave an attitude about transferring us again to a third room. Not impressed!

It was average for what it was. Comfortable bed, hot and cold water. Air conditioning works. Tv works but it’s not HQ or HD at all. Conveniently close to palisades park mall & the cuomo bridge, but that’s about it

Second time staying here and had a great stay. Check in was a breeze and hotel staff were friendly. Rooms have a mini fridge and microwave that came in hady.

Room had no coffee available or anywhere. Bathroom fixtures were rusty and extended from wall. Bathroom walls were in bad shape. I was able to turn the TV on with the remote, but I couldn't turn it off so it was on all night. A terrible night sleep I would've been better off sleeping in my car. When I got up, the first thing I did was look out the window to make sure my car was still there, and if the tires are still on it. Oh, I can add photo of my stay.

Air conditioning VERY Noiisy,not well lit, bed too soft, neighbors played TV loud til 5:30 am., bathroom light created very loud sounds that continued as long as light was on. Very inexpensive but no sleep for me.

The Wi-Fi didn’t reach my room and they swore that it did but refused to give me a partial refund at least. They were making me feel like I was crazy but I spent 4 days there without Wi-Fi. The rooms smelled funny and the sheets didn’t feel clean at all, some of the towels had spots on it from previous stains and were so small. The floor was so dirty, I put on fresh white socks and I walked in the room for a minute (literally) and they were dirty in the bottom.

Filthy floor, dangerous electrical outlets smelly room, just don’t stay here

Dated rooms, smells bad, bad dirty shower. Definitely not the room I had booked through hotels com. Bait and switched. Very expensive for the experience

ABSOLUTELY THE DIRTIEST/WORST HOTEL we've ever stayed in! I'd give it 0 stars if I could. Reception, stairwell, hallway, & room reeked. And the night reception guy was incredibly rude. We checked in around 4 p.m. & hurriedly left our luggage in the room w/o examining it because we needed to make it to dinner & our timed-ticket tours. We finally got back to the room after midnight and found literal PILES of dust all over the sticky floor and lots of pubic hair in the shower! Walls & ceilings were badly stained. Toilet didn't flush properly. Sink faucet leaked onto the counter. TV picture was full of jumpy lines. Mattresses were hard. Pillows were very thin & extremely lumpy. Worst of all, the sheets HADN'T BEEN CHANGED FROM THE PREVIOUS GUESTS—so gross! They were full of hair, dust, & dirt streaks (also holes & old stains). Eww! When I went to reception about the dirty sheets, the rude man on duty didn't apologize for the nasty room AND gave me serious attitude about requesting clean sheets, as if it were *my* fault they hadn't been changed. Unreal! (And I didn't even ask for *staff* to put clean sheets on our beds; I asked him for 2 full sets of sheets for us to change the beds ourselves.) He brought 4 top sheets—no fitted sheets—and 0 pillowcases. Then, he gave me MORE attitude when I asked him to go back for pillowcases that he should've brought me the first time. I don't have one good thing to say about the Tappan Zee Hotel. It's disgusting. DO NOT STAY THERE!!!

Front desk was professional and pleasant. This hotel is a bit dated and needs some upfrades but the room itself was clean and tidy and best of all no old, smelly carpet. The close proximity to Palisades Place mall makes this the ideal location. Great value for your money.

Room was clean management was good and friendly. The place is old but kept up. The garbage stunk outside.

The Tappan Zee Hotel is beyond help. It is dirty and smells of tobacco even in "smoke-free" rooms. Full gutting is necessary to put this property in acceptable condition for human habitation. It would likely be less expensive to demolish the property and start from scratch. Good luck!

Not one place where to hang clothes. No wardrobe not even a hook on the wall. In the bathroom, nowhere to put the towels, the toothbrush or anything. We had to leave all clothes in the suitcases. The beds and pillows were extremely uncomfortable, lumpy, slept extremely bad and woke up with severe aches and pains. Can't understand why they keep it like that.

Pros: The location is great. We were within 30 minutes of every place we needed to be. The Palisades Mall is literally a minute away, which is perfect if you plan on spending time there. The front desk clerks are very friendly, respectful, and helpful. Aesthetics: The hotel itself smells pretty bad. It's obvious that they try to mask it with air fresheners but it's not pleasant. The whole place looks run-down. In our room, the lampshades were broken, ceiling tiles were all water stained brown, the furniture was mismatched and beat up, no fixtures matched, broken tiles in the shower were replaced with tiles and grout that didn't match, sloppy paint job, etc. I appreciate that they do all the repairs themselves, but is it that hard to use the right colored grout? Or buy the matching silver faucet, not gold? Don't they see that it looks terrible like this? Appearance doesn't affect functionality, but it shows a lack of care and pride. What more people care about: -The outlet in the wall under the desk, where you would need to plug in a computer or something, was pushed so far into the wall that it wasn't usable. -When I pulled back the covers, there was long black hair all over one of the pillows on the bed, gross. -No door hanger to tell housekeeping that we didn't want service. Without a sign, we assumed they wouldn't come until we checked out, only to find that they had been in our room while we were gone. Yikes. Was the hotel usable? Yes. Will I come here again? Nooo.

The Room was small.

This was the least expensive hotel I could find in the area. It is a large old motel, probably built in the 1960's. The rooms and bathrooms are small. The stand up shower is very small, approximate 2 x 2.5 feet. The pillowtop mattress was comfortable and was the best part of the room. It's okay for a night if you're on a tight budget. It appears there are people living at this place, probably courtesy of the state.

Cons: thin walls, could hear every word of the next room's conversation. Every word. At 5:30am. Wasn't exactly what I wanted. Didn't ruin the visit for me, but, I could see that sort of thing being problematic. Everything about the room was commendable....clean, fully ready for a guest, etc. The building is close to a major road with commercial traffic. Not much can be done about that. (Maybe some vegetation along the roadway to create a sound buffer?) Really, the only suggestion I'd make is to sound proof the rooms better...no good ideas on how to do that! (Sorry!) Location is perfect for my travels, so I'll be back. My family may not handle the noise as well, but, we'll see....

The evening staff was excellent, kind and full of wonderful information. The manager had a very nice smile as he lied through his teeth to me. He wanted me to go through them and not you and gave me $10 back for a room he was charging another $100 more for as if I didn’t know a hotels, in this case a motel, works. But he escalated it. It was sad because the night crew as so sweet and I really wanted to be able to recommend this place because of the awesome shopping there with the Palisades Mall. That was the best if it.

The front staff were rude and inconsiderate. When it was time for us to go to bed we pulled our blankets down and there was a large dried stain and they told us we did it! When we asked for them to change the sheets we were handed sheets and they told us to change them and didn’t even provide rubber gloves. When we went to put our toiletries away the door to the cabinet fell off. If you have thick hair forget about getting all the shampoo out of your hair. Hold on to the cabinet too if you sit on the toilet because that wobbles. The rooms smelled awful. You want a goodnight sleep you might be better off in the parking lot on the concrete!

run down, bad area, difficult driveway access, shabby. room was old but it was tolerable, bathroom was okay. plus side was we were able to get food delivered at midnight from ubereats in spite of the bad location.

I like quietness and its close to palisades mall

I loved my stay, It was easy to check in, Front desk was super nice and easy. Only downfall is the area can sometimes feel slightly sketchy, but I've never had anything happen or anything.

Enjoyed the fact that its located accross from the Palisades Mall and there was plenty to do to kill time.

I was worried when I booked as it was inexpensive and had mixed reviews. We were very happy with the place. The rooms are older as evidenced by the cracks in the tile in the bathroom but the beds were comfy and the rooms were clean. I liked that there were 3 beds as my teens no longer enjoy sharing a bed. Plenty of room, close to shopping and thruway. The entry smelled of smoke but our room was right near the entry and it did not. I would book here again should we come this way.
