Obwohl das Hotel überbezahlt ist, muss man für Liegen und Sonnenschirme am Pool nochmal 35€/Stk bezahlen. Halb so schlimm wenn das Personal (Bar in der 8. Etage) freundlicher wäre… Das Telefon im Zimmer funktionierte nicht. Nach mehrmaligen Bitte es zu reparieren haben wir es aufgegeben…

Hôtel très design Chambre studio car quand j ai réservé il n y avait rien d autre Dans cette chambre avec petite cuisine, je n ai pas trouvé normal que le frigo soit un minibar, dans d autres hôtels 4 étoiles on a un frigo « top » Dans cette chambre photo de magasine , j ai regretté les lumières trop tamisées, a la base on souhaite y voir qq chose quand on est dans sa salle de bain ou sa chambre Pas de demi pension possible, et clairement ils profitent du manque d offre à proximité La piscine sur le toit est bluffante Il y a pas mal de transat avec matelas La salle de sport contient des appareils haut de gamme A part ça, la seule animation est un concert d 1h avec un chanteur le soir dans une ambiance piano bar ( sympa mais pas festif) Il y a des cours de yoga payant bien sûr Spa avec massage payant, et 20€ pour accéder aux piscines spa sauna .. Le resto gastro est très bien, j ai trouvé les prix raisonnables avec personnel pro Par contre, j ai fait 4 hôtels pendant mon séjour et c est le seul qui vous facture 10% en plus du prix indiqué pour le service, déjà que ça monte vite avec le cocktail du jour à 8€ par exemple, je trouve ça très limite. Au resto gastro le responsable précise bien que c est si on veut et vu le service nous avions accepté, mais sur la facture finale c est ajouté sur tout ce que vous avez consommé alors n hésitez pas à préciser que vous ne souhaitez pas régler ces 10%, les autres hôtels ne font pas ça

Ein sehr schönes Hotel, richtig schön eingerichtet mit freundlichem Personal. Das Frühstück ist sehr reichhaltig. Der einzige negative Punkt ist, dass alles extra kostet, wie bestimmte Liegen, manche Pools, der Spa Bereich, Squash und so weiter. Gerade der Spa Bereich, der zwar groß ist, aber nur eine Sauna beinhaltet, ist mit 30€ zusätzlich schon viel.

Beautiful hotel. Luxury room, very clean. Pools were great. Breakfast was delicious. And dinner was too. One thing I will say is for the price you pay, the sauna should be included.

Het is een heerlijk hotel op een prima locatie. Het hotel beschikt over alle denkbare faciliteiten zoals een fitness, spa, snooker, pingpong tafel, zwembaden en zelfs een squashbaan. Daarnaast is het personeel vriendelijk en het eten heerlijk. Twee mogelijk kleine verbeterpunten zijn het toevoegen van een espresso apparaat op de kamer en iets meer variatie in het enorme ontbijtbuffet.

Absolutely beautiful property. We were here celebrating my partner's birthday and they had a bottle of champagne waiting in our room and waived the parking fee. The spa is fantastic, although $35 per person per day just to use the pool and jacuzzi there is a little bit steep.

Sehr schönes Hotel mit sehr schönen Pools und Zimmern. Sehr gute Auswahl an Restaurants im Hotel und im Ort. Toller Dachgarten und "Museumsbereich", das ganze Hotel lädt zum Erkunden ein. Sehr freundliches Personal, einige Bedienungen könnten aber etwas ambitionierter sein.

All of pools were quite cold-- I was sold on this property because it said it had a hot tub. The hot tub was located in the spa area and only accessible for an extra $35/day. Other than that, the property is absolutely stunning and one of a kind. Rooms were very comfortable and modern. Excellent service.

Beautiful resort, very clean rooms, beautiful views and pools but mediocre service and absolutely nothing is included. Parking 10 euros per day, chairs by the pool 25 euros per day, drinks around 10 euros each, cant have a water bottle. Breakfast was good but go before 9 am otherwise there will be nothing left

Overrated and overpriced hotel. The rooms are not soundproof and in need of maintenance. The shower head had limescale build up meaning it was spraying in all directions making showering a very unpleasant and uncomfortable task. When asking reception shortly after checkin if the room could be swapped with a bathtub room instead of a shower, the answer was “I don’t know” without any kind of follow-up or intention to check. After 3 attempts of finding out if this was possible, we were told only the suites have bathtubs available which suggested the receptionist didn’t know anything about the hotel. Bathroom seals lacking and cleanliness of the bidet and toilet unit not as expected from a hotel that claims a lot. The cherry on top of the cake was an ants invasion that we had in the room, and we shortly discovered after check out that these had now reached everywhere inside all our luggage - what a joy! As most of the hotel facilities come with a hefty additional charge (on top of the already pricey room hire) we were not able to enjoy the “spa resort” this claims to be. Beware they hold a pretty high credit card payment when checking in which most visitors we checked in alongside pushed back on. The only upside was that our parking charge was written off at checkout when we discovered other facilities and bar consumption was charged against our room even though we hadn’t used those services. Overall a disappointing experience and will not return.

What a beautiful Resort! Calheta was the perfect final destination after a busy few weeks travelling. The resort was extremely clean and well kept. We were blown away by the beauty everyday. The included breakfast buffet was phenomenal as well as the views while eating! I would suggest not to wait and plan on doing your laundry here as it was quite costly. The resort itself was pricey in regards to dinner so I would suggest venturing into Calheta for dinner at some point! We did have a couple spiders in our bed, not much the resort can do about this but just a friendly reminder to check your sheets before going to bed, my boyfriend got bit while sleeping and had a reaction over the next week. Overall we had a really great experience and would recommend anyone to stay here! Such a beautiful resort!

Very comfortable stay at the Saccharum Hotel for our family. The breakfast spread included in our room was fantastic and appreciated as an easy start to the day. There was nice live music every night which we enjoyed too! Rooms were comfortable, modern, and well maintained. Internet was great. Service was excellent. No complaints here!

It is a beautiful hotel, whereas it is really dark inside, also in the room (except of course when artificial light is switched on). Staff in general was not super friendly, with the exception of reception and the lady making the eggs. It was a clean hotel with high safety, wifi was fast it has a taste of luxury and a high service level. I didnt like the breakfast after 10 am as it looked super messy at around that time. They have a nice outdoor pool, are very close to the harbour and have a shuttle to Funchal (at extra fee).

The A/C in my room didn’t work the entire stay, the explanation was that in my floor was two pregnant women that wanted warmer temperatures… so the room wasn’t as comfortable as it could have been if it was cooler. The location is good if you want to explore the mid/ west area of the island.

Very nice hotel with a beautiful view of the ocean. We loved the infinity pool. We didn't love the bathroom set up which included a shower workout a door. Pool area on top floor was nice but lacked stable wifi and no bar service at the chairs. You have to walk up to a bar to get a drink. There was not a store in the hotel so had to walk 3 blocks to get sunscreen.

Great location to explore the island. The ocean view room was a great choice and we loved the buffet breakfast. Great hotel overall but I would not necessarily give it 5*. The parking is chargeable. We used the outside parking for €11 per day.

A beautiful hotel with a lovely infinity pool overlooking the sea, and the staff are excellent. The food was good but expensive. We found it much better value to eat at the nearby restaurants at the marina. We found our room and balcony (with half ocean view) lovely, but the bathroom facilities are a very odd design and lack privacy. It's very strange that there's no shower room door, particularly given that the shower entrance is opposite the main hotel room door! I would recommend this hotel for a luxury stay in a beautiful location.

I didn’t like that the rooms and halls are too dark. Long walking to get to our room and confusing. There is no shopping places and taxis and shutte from the hotel very expensive, like 80 euro one way to Funchal I like the views from the hotel and I like the vegetable gardens

We had a fantastic week at this hotel. We paid the extra for premium club experience. It was well worth it. Fantastic service from all the staff. My two issues were: being on the 7th floor underneath the Fly bar, we could hear the music and singing above us until late at night; the biggest problem was the smoking - allowing smoking on the balcony of the hotel rooms meant we were unable to enjoy the use of our balcony. We also had to keep closing our sliding door when the guest next door was smoking on his balcony. I heard another guest complaining at reception about the same issue affecting them. In the UK, most outdoor areas where food is being served, do not allow smoking. It ruined our experience of the Club outdoor area, when other guests smoked whilst we were eating/drinking there.

I am sad to write this review as we absolutely loved this hotel a few years ago. Last year there were signs of change and this year very clearly things had changed. Although, we were given the room we requested, so Thankyou😊 Firstly, when we arrived on my way to the room, I saw a mouse running frantically through the dark corridor🐁. I let reception know and their response surprised me. They just said ‘Thankyou for letting us know, we will inform housekeeping’. That was it, we heard no more! My husband followed it up the next day, and we felt they were trying to say I didn’t see it! They explained they have a company come in to control all pests and that the company only came the week before. It was not a good start. As others have pointed out, the sunbeds around the infinity pool come at a cost! Hence they are nearly always empty, which doesn’t look good. This is the first time we have not had the premium package. The reason being it has gone up substantially! It does influence the whole feel of the stay. For example, whilst the breakfast was very good, the experience was awful….searching for a table, finding staff to clear it, queuing for omelettes or poached eggs, and the noise level was dreadful. I could go on, but I will just say, it was a wonderful hotel, but for us, not anymore.

Check in (which I had already done online) was frosty. We were early so reception said they would take our bags and have them delivered to the room when it was ready at 2pm. Went to the room about 2.30 and no bags. Reception frosty when we asked for our bags. Oh, and then the tussle for a couple of glasses of chilled white wine at their Trapiche restaurant. Sent them back as warm white wine (served in plastic glasses btw, this is supposed to be a great dining experience). Came back with also warm white wine. Sent back again, I said I'd pay for our water but not the wine and wanted to leave. She came back saying it wasn't chilled as was in the plastic glasses and gave us proper glasses, showing us a chilled bottle of wine. Much better (still not super chill). Then when the bill came she tried to charge us 8 EUR a glass not 7 advertised, then said that it was because she had given us a different wine (which we had not asked for and btw only one white wine by the glass). JUST SERVE CHILLED WHITE WINE. Other than that; breakfasts very very good with plenty of choice. Overall the hotel is way too dark. Ocean room fine but not lush, not enough plugs.

Very comfortable stay at the Saccharum Hotel for our family. The breakfast spread included in our room was fantastic and appreciated as an easy start to the day. There was nice live music every night which we enjoyed too! Rooms were comfortable, modern, and well maintained. Internet was great. Service was excellent. No complaints here!

Es ist ein sehr modernes Hotel. Auch wenn es um das Thema Zuckerrohr geht, hätte man das gesamte Hotel etwas heller gestalten können. Poollandschaften sind sehr schön gestaltet. Beach und Beachbar sehr ansprechend. Für Schwimmer sehr einladend. Badeschuhe sind von Vorteil, da der Einstig in das Wasser sehr steinig ist. Das Personal im Hotel wirkt unmotiviert. Speisen sind für die gebotene Qualität zu hochpreisig. Außerhalb des Hotels kann man schmackhafter und günstiger essen.

Overall our stay was great, the hotel is absolutely beautiful like the rest of the island. The front desk staff and house keeping were wonderful, the only note I would add is that the servers in the restaurants sometimes seemed less than friendly and at points annoyed with seemingly simple requests. I would recommend staying here but given the price point I would have appreciated a more welcoming environment when dining with them. There are some wonderful restaurants in the area that you can go to as an alternative.

Excellent hotel in the quiet Calheta resort, on the south west of the island. The rooms are clean, spacious and the hotel is ultra modern throughout. Staff speak excellent English, and are only too happy to assist with car hire, travel tips or pretty much anything else you ask them about. What you might expect from a part of the Savoy group, and I have nothing but praise for the hotel. It might be worth mentioning, that if you decide to stay at Calheta because of the beaches (there are very few on the island) ... you may be disappointed. The two man-made beaches are small, scruffy and poorly maintained. But this is an issue with the local authority ... not the hotel(s).

Great location on the island and perfect base for day trips. Lovely restaurants within a short walk at the harbour and also dolphin/whale watching tours leaving from there. Outside parking was very busy but luckily we managed to find somewhere to park overnight.

Beautiful resort and property. Room was just as pictured. We loved the location and the beach and beach club across the street. Only negative I would say is all the fees and automatic tips taken out. I did not like how they added tips on to all meals at the location. So if you tipped yourself they ended up taking additional money for another tip. Very misleading.

Loved the pool area. Its quite a bit of a drive into Funchal, which many of our tours were located. A lot of the workers didnt know how to work the stove. It took about an hour for someone to come and finally figure it out. Must have a car or transportation is hard to come by. Very close to a supermarket, about a 10min walk. If not for the pool and ocean view, i would choose a better situated hotel, as far as convenience to extracurricular activities.

Let’s start with the positive, the resort itself is beautiful and the views unmatched. If you are looking for a more remote location and to mostly stay at the property this place is for you as there are not many restaurants that are walkable and most tours won’t pick up from this location without additional cost. Overall lighting in the resort is dark giving it a bit of a dreary vibe. They call themselves a 5 star resort but definitely don’t give that level of service and try to up charge you at every corner. They have a beautiful pool but charge extra to sit at the loungers by the pool which by the way most of the time are empty. We decided to pay the premium for a chair (35 Euros each) only to find it was broken and the area was filled with cobwebs. Definitely not worth the “upgrade” considering other guests who had not paid utilized the space as well. We brought our concerns to the manager and were told they would look into it but we never heard back. The room layout is perfect for couples but if you are staying with a friend, it offers zero privacy as there is no shower door and you can see into the shower from the bedroom. The restaurants we tried had good drinks but mediocre food. Lastly, you can only exchange your beach/pool towels once per day during a certain time slot. I have been to many resorts and have never heard of such a thing. I don’t know about anyone else but I don’t like to reuse a towel that was wet, I have been sweating on, and has sunscreen all over it.

Secluded location on the western side of the island. Dining options aren’t great in the area, but that’s the price you pay for seclusion. Calheta Green is awesome and only a 15 minute drive away. The hotel itself has a great breakfast, a cool beach club with great food and drinks and good live music. The atmosphere of the hotel is also very unique and we loved the design. It feels like something out of the Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place in Calheta.

Schön gelegenes Resorthotel direkt am Meer. Unbedingt Meerblick buchen, es gibt Zimmer mit tristen Blick zum Innenhof. Die Architektur ist schön, aber sehr düster gehalten. Alberne Aufpreispolitik für SPA, Yogastunden oder Liegen am Infinitypool etc.. Das Buffetrestaurant hat attraktive Preise; die Essenqualität ist gemischt. Freundliches Personal.

Check in (which I had already done online) was frosty. We were early so reception said they would take our bags and have them delivered to the room when it was ready at 2pm. Went to the room about 2.30 and no bags. Reception frosty when we asked for our bags. Oh, and then the tussle for a couple of glasses of chilled white wine at their Trapiche restaurant. Sent them back as warm white wine (served in plastic glasses btw, this is supposed to be a great dining experience). Came back with also warm white wine. Sent back again, I said I'd pay for our water but not the wine and wanted to leave. She came back saying it wasn't chilled as was in the plastic glasses and gave us proper glasses, showing us a chilled bottle of wine. Much better (still not super chill). Then when the bill came she tried to charge us 8 EUR a glass not 7 advertised, then said that it was because she had given us a different wine (which we had not asked for and btw only one white wine by the glass). Property has great views, a nice beach across the road but it gets full quickly. Hotel food and dining options are mediocre for the price, better food options are a short walk away from the hotel.

Bon séjour. Cadre genial. Super piscines. Bonne localisation qui permet de visiter l'île entière en voiture. Dommage que l'accès au spa soit payant. Buffet et petits déjeuners décevants au rapport qualité/prix. Il vaut mieux aller dans les restaurants alentours pour manger local.

A beautiful hotel with a lovely infinity pool overlooking the sea, and the staff are excellent. The food was good but expensive. We found it much better value to eat at the nearby restaurants at the marina. We found our room and balcony (with half ocean view) lovely, but the bathroom facilities are a very odd design and lack privacy. It's very strange that there's no shower room door, particularly given that the shower entrance is opposite the main hotel room door! I would recommend this hotel for a luxury stay in a beautiful location.

Beautiful resort and property. Room was just as pictured. We loved the location and the beach and beach club across the street. Only negative I would say is all the fees and automatic tips taken out. I did not like how they added tips on to all meals at the location. So if you tipped yourself they ended up taking additional money for another tip. Very misleading.

Let’s start with the positive, the resort itself is beautiful and the views unmatched. If you are looking for a more remote location and to mostly stay at the property this place is for you as there are not many restaurants that are walkable and most tours won’t pick up from this location without additional cost. Overall lighting in the resort is dark giving it a bit of a dreary vibe. They call themselves a 5 star resort but definitely don’t give that level of service and try to up charge you at every corner. They have a beautiful pool but charge extra to sit at the loungers by the pool which by the way most of the time are empty. We decided to pay the premium for a chair (35 Euros each) only to find it was broken and the area was filled with cobwebs. Definitely not worth the “upgrade” considering other guests who had not paid utilized the space as well. We brought our concerns to the manager and were told they would look into it but we never heard back. The room layout is perfect for couples but if you are staying with a friend, it offers zero privacy as there is no shower door and you can see into the shower from the bedroom. The restaurants we tried had good drinks but mediocre food. Lastly, you can only exchange your beach/pool towels once per day during a certain time slot. I have been to many resorts and have never heard of such a thing. I don’t know about anyone else but I don’t like to reuse a towel that was wet, I have been sweating on, and has sunscreen all over it.

We opted for bed and breakfast at the hotel, we did a lot of hiking whilst on Madeira and, the Saccharum resort breakfast never failed to set us up for whatever we were getting up to. First class service! Great local restaurants in the area but I have to call out the hotel restaurants as being second to none. We ate in the restaurant overlooking the infinity pool on two occasions- fantastic choice, efficiency and the staff were wonderful.

Nice hotel, good location…I booked for 2 adults and 1 child, but there was no bed / towels etc for the child. The first bed they brought was tiny and had a rather sharp spike sticking out, the second attempt at the child’s bed was better, and eventually we were given towels for the child. We weren’t given access to the WiFi for some hours too. The manger was supposed to contact us, but we never heard from anyone. The pool on the 8th floor was way too small to cater for the demand, we skipped it mainly, and went to the beach club which was fab. The cleaning staff were lovely and the turn down service was also lovely.

This hotel is just fantastic! From the views and location, to the staff and the breakfast’s food (variety and quality). The Spa is also super nice and the infinity pool and lounge are dreamy. I can’t recommend this enough. We absolutely loved our stay. The room is very modern and comfortable. All the hotel facilities were amazing! Was easy to leave the car at their indoor parking, which was convenient. And last but not least, I have to praise Rafaela, that is at the hotel’s reception for her outstanding costumer service. I look forward to come back to Madeira and stay here again!

On nous a attribué une chambre au 1er étage,très près de la route. Nous avons demandé la possibilité d'avoir un étage plus élevé. Ce qui a été fait dès le lendemain de notre arrivée. La journée gratuite au spa, c'était génial, très peu de monde en matinée. Personnels très gentils.
